Chapter 47

Percy POV

"What am I going to do with you, honestly you're worse than Apollo was at your age." Leto said bandaging my hand.

When I landed on the Delos a week ago I honestly didn't know what I was getting myself into. At first I was relieved because upon waking up in an unfamiliar room I saw Leto who I thought was Artemis. That view changed immediately when she didn't know who I was which deflated my ego a bit.

I tried to remind her of who I was and the stuff we'd been through together when she suddenly went "Oh I remember now you're that accident prone kid that Apollo keeps talking about. Well I'm sorry to tell you I'm Leto not Artemis."

Needless to say, I was extremely embarrassed and begged Leto not to tell Artemis about the whole incident. She made no promises.

Leto was able to patch me up and I was on my feet within a few days. I was ready to just hop in the ocean when she mentioned that Delos was surrounded various sea monsters. It gave me pause but I was like 'What do I need to worry about, I'm the son of Poseidon, I can at least out run a couple of sea monsters.'

And that stupid idiotic decision landed me in my current position. When I arrived on Delos I had a few relatively minor burns, dislocated joints and a sprained ankle. Now after essentially brawling with sea creatures, that I have ever seen or heard of before, I'm even more screwed up. I have a couple broken ribs for sure. My left hand is jacked up and I'm pretty sure I have a concussion.

"Percy!" Leto yelled making me jump.

"What!" I yelled back as my bones screamed in pain. "You freaking scared the crap out of me."

"Well I've been calling your name for several minutes and you weren't responding." Leto said pressing a cool wet cloth to my head. "I was worried that your head injury was worse than I thought."

"Well...I-I'm sorry. I was just thinking about how vicious those creatures were."

"I told you they were not beings to be trifled with." Leto said in a 'I told you so' tone.

"I know I just thought I could outrun them if all else failed." I replied.

"And how did that work out for you?" She asked with a smug grin. I chose not to reply and that seemed to just amuse her even more. "You may be the son of Poseidon but you're also injured and exhausted. If you were at one hundred percent then maybe you would stand a chance. Before you might have been well enough to face them in another week but now I would guess that we'll need a month minimum."

"Great." I muttered sinking into the bed. I didn't have a month, Luke could arrive at camp any day now. I needed to be with Annabeth finding daedalus's workshop.

While I was wallowing in my own self pity the door to the house opened followed by a call of "Leto!". The voice was familiar and definitely female yet it didn't sound like Artemis.

I glanced at the Titanes of light who barely twitched in response. "Leto? Are in here?" the voice called again.

"Aren't you going to answer her?" I asked.

Leto seemed stunned when I spoke like I physically slapped her. "Yes sorry I was just thinking." She said unconvincingly.

Leto turned around to leave when a rather tall black haired woman appeared in the doorway. "Did I get the time wrong or -" the new arrival froze for a moment upon seeing me.

"Hey." I said.

"Heeeyyy." She replied slowly before looking to Leto "How did he get here?"

She shrugged "He fell out the sky."

"Do I know you?" I asked. I'm not sure why but I was certain that I'd met her somewhere.

The new girl smiled "Well yes in a way we have met before. I was the one who walked you through the creation of your sacred Animal Furok."

I nodded slightly, I guess that could be it I mean I only have her voice to go by. "Are you a friend of Leto's?"

The new girl gave me a 'did you really just ask that question' look "No. I hate her with a burning passion I just drop by to remind myself why I hate her so much. Of course I'm her friend you idiot!"

"I was just trying to be polite." I huffed. "Who are you anyway?"

She frowned and bit her lip. "You're a lot like your father that's for sure, especially when he was young." She said walking into the room. "But to answer your question I'm someone you need to forget. I'm technically supposed to be imprisoned in a cave somewhere by Lord thunder butt himself. However due to the fact that he was never very skilled with magic while I excelled allowed me to tweak my prison slightly, really just enough to allow me to visit Leto. Even then you're the first person besides Leto who can see me."

"It's true." Leto added with a rueful grin "When my kids visit she'll stand behind them and make faces to try and make me lose it. I've had days where I'm biting my lip so hard I'm bleeding just to stop myself from laughing and Artemis is looking at me like I've lost it."

'Huh, I wonder why I can see her?' I thought. First the godly Aura and then this. That can't be a coincidence. I wanted to ask specifics but I just felt so tired I couldn't get the words out.

Beside my bed I heard Leto laugh slightly "Rest child, we'll be here when you wake up."

Sleep came quickly and with it dreams. For the first time in a year at least I'd been without Apollo's little dream device, I lost in the volcano somewhere, for an extended period of time. I'd missed a night here and there but this was the first time I'd gone a whole week, it was strange to say the least.

Other campers had said that all demigods had unusual dreams. With all the other weirdness in out life normal dreams were just to good for us, they had to mean something. Even so I felt like mine were different. I hope that doesn't sound conceited.

It's just that my friends at camp described their dreams as something that had to be interpreted. On the other hand mine felt like documentaries almost if that makes any sense.

My vision swirled like it always did before a room, no a hallway, began to take shape. The walls were a depressing gray color and the few doors that I could see were barred, reinforced, and bolted shut from the outside.

'Ah so it's a prison this time.' I thought 'I haven't seen that before.'

Footsteps were the only warning I had before Hades appeared in my field of vision. He looked so young I almost didn't recognize him. He stopped in front of a door marked only by a single Greek letter and knocked three times. "So you've come back." came a voice from inside the cell.

"Yes." Hades said simply "It's been decided that a week from now my brothers and I will draw lots to decide which of the three domains we will receive. We've also decided that who ever becomes lord of the sky will become king of Olympus."

The voice in the cell huffed "It was foolish of your father to attempt to strip you of your domains. Normally the power you were most attuned to would have been the one you received. Now we're dishing out some of the most powerful forces on earth through a game of chance. Although I guess it is the most fair method as we have no way of knowing who had what originally. Thank the maker none of the calamity based domains like Storms or Earthquakes are on the table or this world could be coming to an end." there was a brief pause as chains creaked and moved in the cell. "I doubt you came just to speak, what do you want?"

"I wanted you clarify what you meant when you said the underworld comes with a price." Hades replied coolly.

"I meant just that." the voice stated "The sea and sky can be unwieldy at times but in comparison to the underworld they're a dream come true because unlike the others the underworld will attack your mind. None who have ruled it have done so with being affected by it and if someone who is weak tries to do so they will eventually have their humanity and their sanity ripped away."

The scene began to ripple and shift signifying the end of this moment for me. I wanted to stay but the pull was too strong.

The next morning I awoke to the sound of waves crashing on the beach. Normally I loved the sound of the ocean but right now I just wanted to sleep. Growling slightly I rolled over as best I could and tried to block out the sound with a pillow.

The pillow failed to block out the sound of the waves or laughing. 'Wait laughing?'.

I looked up to see Leto's friend from yesterday standing in the doorway. "Having a little trouble sleeping?" she asked.

"How did you guess?" I asked sarcastically "The waves are too loud."

"We'll what do you expect, the wind in practically howling out there." She said leaning against the door frame. "But if it's bothering you so much why don't you force the waves to calm?"

"Are you kidding me?" I asked turning my head so I could look at her more directly. "I can't stop an Ocean!"

"First off you're not trying to stop the whole sea just calm the area around the island. Second you are much stronger than you realize. In order to arrive here you triggered a volcanic eruption, a feat most of your half siblings could never dream of achieving." She said taking a seat in the chair by my bed. "Not only that your body was able to survive the creation of your own sacred animal something no demigod has ever done."

"If you are to grow you must train your godly abilities as well as your physical ones. I know from Leto that your brother has been teaching you, has he not gone over this?"

"He's mostly been teaching me things like how to freeze or evaporate water. Sometimes he'll give me a task to complete and a limited amount of water to work with." I said.

"Ahh so he's trying to teach you ingenuity over brute force." She mused, "Choosing to build a strong foundation first before moving on to large scale tasks is a wise move. There are times where a scalpel is better is far better than a hammer, but you must remember that each tool has its uses."
