They finally managed to arrive at Adora's place. Levi immediately grabbed his skateboard then opened the car door and rushed into the house. But when he got to the entrance, only then did he realize you need a key to get in, which he does not possess. So he ran back, while Adora and Catra just stepped out of the car.
"Little dude, where are you running, the house is that way!" - Catra said as she dashed towards the door, passing Levi, who then swirled around and started running back. They were speeding around the front yard like two idiots who are drunk enough to be unable to run in a straight line.
Adora was walking there slowly, like she was the mother of these two kids. Catra reached the door, then kneeled down, like she was about to break into her house. Then Levi arrived there as well, as he grabbed Catra's shoulder and was looking at what she was doing. Adora only saw their backs, and had no idea what Catra was doing.
Then suddenly the door opened, and Levi rushed in, while Catra held the door. Wait, what the...? Catra didn't have a key. Adora actually started walking there at a higher pace. Then Catra looked back at her smiling, although Adora's expression wasn't a happy one.
When she got there, she closed the door quietly so Levi wouldn't hear it, while they stayed outside. Catra let go of the door, confused why Adora did that.
"Catra, what are you doing?" - Adora asked, shocked a bit.
"Uhm... opening the door?" - She questioned herself, while raising both her eyebrows.
"No! You technically broke into my house. And... why can you do something like this?" - Adora basically whisper-shouted into Catra's face. Who genuinely looked shocked. It's really not hard for her to pick a lock. And she wanted to look cool in Levi's eyes. Which probably was a success, but in a bad way of cool.
"You're right, I don't know what I was thinking." - She said, while swinging her hand in front of her face. She really meant what she said. She didn't even use her brain actually. She just went with her gut, and it might not have been the best idea.
"You just... showed him how to... break into a house." - Adora couldn't place this situation anywhere. She knows Catra can do some shady things, but she didn't think she would do that in front of Levi.
"Adora. Calm down." - She said, while grabbing Adora's hands, who was panicking a bit. - "He didn't see a thing. And it's not like he just imitates this after seeing it once... which he did not see, soooo..." - She shut her sentence short, because Adora looked at her angrily.
She let go of the girl, raising her hands up, then looking away and slapped them to her thighs. It's better if she shut up this time.
"Just go inside." - Adora said sternly. It really felt like she was her mom, because her tone made Catra shrink.
She walked inside while Levi had already started playing some video games.
"Levi! Did you wash your hands?" - Adora asked from the boy who was sitting on the couch. Without a word, he put the controller down and went into the bathroom. You could hear the splashing of the water. Catra was about to follow his example, but Adora stopped her by grabbing her arm.
"Catra, please don't show anything inadequate to him." - Catra looked back and you could tell from her eyes she was agreeing with Adora. - "I know you try to be a good 'sister figure' to him, but sometimes you should..."
"Adora, I know. I act without thinking... I'm aware of that." - She said, while gently putting her hand on top of Adora's and moving it away. Adora lowered her arm, and smiled at her.
Catra turned around and went into the bathroom. When she arrived there, Levi was already running out, bumping into Catra a bit.
"Sorry, Cat!" - He shouted back as he plopped down on the couch with a loud puff. Catra snorted, then went to the tap, to wash her hands. Adora was waiting for her in the doorframe, while she was looking at Levi playing the game.
Catra looked at the blonde through the mirror, admiring her, as she stared at her brother with care. With true love towards one of your family members. As a big sister, who looks at her little brother proudly for what he achieved. She truly cared about him, and it was all filled in that one expression, while Adora was staring into the distance.
Adora glanced back, because the water was splashing the basin at that same melodious sound, and it was monotonous, which indicated, Catra is not quite washing her hands anymore, but just runs the water. When Adora turned to her, Catra quickly moved her eyes back down to her hands and turned off the tap.
That few seconds while she wiped her hands felt really silent and awkward.
"Do you still want to show me the song? Or would you rather work on the project?" - Adora asked, while Catra finished with the wiping.
"Is this really a question? You have one guess." - Catra chuckled. Adora laughed as well, because it really was a dumb question. Of course she would do anything, to procrastinate that homework. - "Although I don't have my guitar. But if you lend me Levi's piano, that works as well." - Lucky for her that Levi is into music.
"I mean, he is playing Overwatch now, so if it doesn't bother him, which I doubt, the-" - Then it struck Catra. For some reason she compared videogames to playing the piano. They are both fun, but they can wait. Not like the homework, they have to do eventually, so it would be better to get it over with. Maybe if she shows a bit of 'care' towards this, Adora might look at her differently. Because now, she probably looks at her like she is a dumb kid.
"You know what," - She started, cutting Adora off, while walking closer to her. - "let's do the homework instead." - Adora showed a smile to that statement of hers.
"Okay, I'm in."
"Why are you more excited about this than my song?" - Catra asked teasingly.
"I'm not. It just came out like that." - She said, rolling her eyes.
"Yeah sure, I wouldn't be surprised if you would read a book instead of listening to my song." - Catra said, while throwing her arm around Adora.
"I would never do that." - Adora stated through laughter.
"That wasn't really convincing." - She said, while leaning closer to Adora's face. Maybe too close, her lips almost touched the other girl's cheek. She drew back a bit, realizing this.
"What else do you need, other than me staring at you like you are a star singer..." - She said, turning her head to Catra, whose eyes widened at the closeness. - "Don't look so surprised!" - Adora added, shoving the girl's face out of the way with her palm while she laughed.
Catra stepped back a bit outside of the bathroom, while Adora was about to close the door.
"Now go back to Levi, I need to go to the toilet." - She said, closing the door. Catra was standing near the door for a second, still in a daze as to how close she was to Adora. I mean, they are best friends so they lean on each other a lot, but this one felt different. Of course it wasn't for the blonde, but for her, it really was.
She shook her head, then went back to Levi, who just killed someone in the game.
"Whoooa, that was beautiful!" - Catra yelled, which made Levi laugh.
Adora was taking her time, but heard the yelling and her first reaction was to crack a smile at it. 'That dork.'
