I don't need to see to know that it's raining. I don't need it to tell that my boyfriend is cute. I lost my sight at Hogwarts, and no one knows. Well other than my boyfriend who is helping me fake it. My name is Albus Potter. I would say my middle name, but I think I found another way to be a disgrace in my family. I was in my room listening to the rain hit my window. No one was home at the moment but that was okay. I don't want anyone to see me like this. They can't know. I'm great at keeping secrets, unlike my older brother who just wants to tell everyone everything. I loved the sound of the rain. I heard a knock at my door and felt myself smile. Dad said that my boyfriend Scorpius could come over when they were out. I stood and held onto my chair as I walked over to the door. It was getting easier to walk. I took a deep breath as I felt my foot hit something. I tried to grab whatever was next to me, but I didn't feel anything as I fell to the ground. "Stupid James," I muttered. That's when I heard someone running up the stairs. I flinched a little thinking that it was my father. However, I calmed down when I remembered that Scorpius was here.
"Al?" he sounded worried. I don't know why I've fallen before. Sorry, I don't get this but? "Al? Are you okay?" he asked. I smiled at him and nodded.
"Yeah, just James leaves his crap everywhere," I answered, standing up. I felt his hand in mine and I could not help but smile at him.
"I think you need to tell your family," Scorpius said, leading me somewhere. I assume it was my bed, cause why would Scorpius lead me over to James's bed. I felt his hand move over mine.
"I can't," I say, moving my head down. "I will never hear the end of it," I heard Scorpius sigh.
'And if you don't?" he asked. I felt his hand take mine. I didn't answer as I heard the front door open. My family was home. I could hear James' giggling over the sound of the rain. I didn't move as I felt Scorpius leave the bed. "Al let's just go tell them. I'll be there with you alright?" Scorpius said, making me smile.
"But what if…" I cut off and shook my head. "Alright," I said standing up and take his hand.
I heard James laugh once when I got down the stairs. "Hey, Al. Do you like my new haircut?" James asked. I could hear him jumping up and down. My head nodded but I knew that I was lying.
"Yeah, it's nice. Um, Mum, Dad can I tell you guys something in the drawing-room?" I ask, holding onto Scorpius's hand tighter.
"They nodded," Scorpius whispered in my ear. I nodded and smiled nervously.
"Of course, Al, come on everyone," I heard my mother say. Scorpius led me into the drawing-room and I couldn't feel my legs. I sat down on the couch with Scorpius next to me. Again, I didn't need to see to know that he was there. I took a deep breath before I started. I think that should just be a full stop but I'm not sure, I'm not super confident with this punctuation:
"It started during potions. I was finishing a complex potion. I don't know what happened next, but I know I didn't do it. I think someone else did but... After I poured in the last ingredient it blew in my face and now…now I have no sight. I'm sorry," I said, closing my eyes. I felt Scorpius grab my hand even tighter while my family took in the news.
"Oh Al, there's nothing to be sorry about," I heard my father say. "How are you feeling about it? Why didn't you tell us?" he asked me. I sighed and opened my eyes. I shook my head.
"Because then you'll see me as another failure to this family," I didn't mean to say this with anger in my voice, but it came out that way. Soon I felt arms wrapped around me. All I could hear was the rain and Mum's tears.
After a while, I felt them pull out of my arms. "Al, we need to get you to a healer, alright?" I heard my father say. I nodded and moved my head to the backdoor.
"I want to go outside," I said, moving my head back to Scorpius who smiled.
"Do you want to dance? Feel the rain?" Scorpius said, pulling me to stand. I nodded and laughed.
"Yeah, come on," I said, running to the backdoor. Thankfully Scorpius was right there as we ran out into the rain.
It felt weird, the rain. I don't know why but I loved it. I laughed as I felt Scorpius pulling me into his arms as he swung me around. "Scorp," I laughed as he put me down.
"Sorry Al. I've always wanted to do that. Now you said something about dancing," Scorpius said laughing. I laughed as well and soon he took his hands in mine and we started to slow dance while the rain got harder. I didn't care. I loved the feeling of it. For once I didn't feel like a failure. The water hit the ground hard, but Scorpius and I didn't stop dancing. How could we? Sure, I can't see but I feel like I could in my boyfriend's eyes as he spun me around. I felt the water hit my legs and I laughed.
"Scorpius?" I asked as he continued to dance.
"Yeah, Al?" he asked me as I felt his head on my shoulder.
"Do you still love me even though I can't see now?" I asked. I felt Scorpius had stopped dancing.
"Why would you ask that? Of course, I still love you? Al, you are the most unique person I have met. I don't care about you not being able to see. All I care about is you being happy. Are you?" He asked me as he started to move again. I thought for a minute. Being with Scorpius is the best thing in the world and I do love my family.
"Yes, I am happy," I answered. I heard Scorpius laugh as he picked me up again and spun me once more.
"Then let's dance," he said. At that moment, I knew that we would be just fine.
