CHAPTER 7: A FRIEND IN ME

With pure anger, Kathleen clenched her sword, aimed at Woody, Bo, and the gang. Once she made a good aim, the pirate doll angrily calls out,

"Let this be the end of you, WOODY!"

Then, she threw her sword at a high speed gone, but now in slow motion. Everyone turned, silenced, and panicked. In alert, Bo cried out as she saw the sword tossed towards Woody,

"Woody, watch out!"

As Woody turned and saw Kathleen's sword, his eyes got big as he closed his eyes, as if his life would end. Suddenly, Bullseye neighed in a panicked tone and galloped towards Woody.

"Oh, no! He's heading for the sacrifice!" Rex panicked as he gestured to Bullseye.

"Bullseye! STOP!" Hamm cried out,

"BULLSEYE!"

But when it was too late, Bullseye shoved Woody out of the way and looked at the sword with panic. Woody stood up, wondering who saved him. As he looked up, shock flooded through Woody; it was Bullseye! The toy horse panted while standing still but shakily and struggling in pain, as if the sword pierced him through his woven chest where the wools were, but luckily he isn't bleeding, though. Woody gasped in shock and screamed,

"NOOOOOOO!"

The toys gasped in shock. Forky cried out,

"Oh, no, Bullseye!"

Knifey cried out too,

"How was Bonnie gonna find out about this?!"

Slinky, Hamm, Rex, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads, the green aliens, Dolly, Trixie, Buttercup, and Mr. Pricklepants gasped as well. On the other hand, Kathleen looked in shock and growled,

"No, this can't be happening!"

As Bullseye started to collapse to the ground, Slinky and the green aliens grabbed Bullseye at a rapid speed and set him gently.

"What are we gonna do?!" Mrs. Potato Head cries,

"We need Buzz and Jessie to come back with the help needed!"

"I don't know, dear!" Mr. Potato head panicks,

"They'll never make it!"

The green aliens were aiding Bullseye as Slinky rubs Bullseye with comfort.

"Hey, it's okay!" Slinky soothed Bullseye,

"Breathe nice and steady! Buzz and Jessie will be here now as soon as possible!"

But as Bullseye began shaking and whimpering in pain, Slinky warned to the toys,

"Bullseye's being broken! Help me out!"

Hearing Slinky's panicking command, the other toys helped out. Once Rex noticed Kathleen's sword stuck in Bullseye's ripped but stuffed chest, he warned,

"His health functions are getting critical; Bullseye's not gonna make it!"

The green toy dinosaur managed to get it out at a rapid speed, but the piggy bank yelled out with frustration,

"Not like that! Oh, LEMME!"

Then, Hamm shoved Rex out of the way and gently and slowly took the sword out with his cautious hoofs, and threw it far to the ground. In reaction, Woody turned to Kathleen with anger, and shouted,

"YOU!"

Bo reacted, and stopped Woody. Rex ran over as well to help. Woody shouts again at Kathleen,

"YOU WILL REGRET THIS, YOU MONSTER!"

"Woody, don't do it!" Bo cried as she grabbed a hold of Woody with her cane. Her sheep were helping out as well.

"Yeah, Woody! Kathleen isn't worth it!" Rex chimed in.

Kathleen clenched her fists angrily as she yelled to Woody,

"This was not supposed to happen to your horse, but you, Woody! This AIN'T what I wanted, too!"

"My friend sacrificed his life for mine that you'll pay for, Kathleen!" Woody cried angrily back.

As they all began fighting each other until then, Kathleen grabbed her sword after seeing it in a flash and pinned Woody to the ground and put up her sword angrily to make an attack strength once again, causing Woody to gasp and turn away for dear life. But when Kathleen was about to punch him, an echoing roar can be heard and a voice shouts,

"Woody!"

Kathleen and Woody turned. But then, a shadow swooped underneath Kathleen and Woody, and soared into the air, revealing a shadowy figure; there were Buzz and Jessie with their friendly toy dragon Timothy, who was asked for help. Timothy roared, as if he was a toy that was many times bigger than other toys.

"We're back!" Jessie called.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," Buzz called as well.

"Buzz!" Woody cried due to his relief,

"Jessie! Timothy!"

Bo and the other toys saw after realizing and cried out with relief as well,

"Oh, I know you'd come back just in time!"

As Kathleen gasped, she cried out,

"A dragon?!"

Timothy landed down to the ground, snarled angrily, and got too close to Kathleen for a fight at a rapid speed, but Kathleen yelled,

"Not so fast!"

Then, she slashed her sword on Timothy's arm, make a rip out of his shoulder. Timothy roared in pain and fell over.

"Timothy!" Bo cried in shock.

Woody gasped in shock, so did Buzz and Jessie who were riding on Timothy. Kathleen laughed evilly, much to the other toys' shock.

Suddenly, Timothy, noticing the ripped slash on his shoulder, growled lowly, stood up on his hind legs, got even more close to Kathleen who felt shocked.

"Uh-oh," she says in fear.

Without hesitation, Timothy roared directly at Kathleen's face, much to her shock, and bit his jaws on Kathleen's sword, causing it to break. Then, he threw Kathleen's broken sword far away, causing the toys to feel proud of him. They all cheered for Timothy, as if he was saving the day.

"No!" Kathleen cries in fear after seeing Timothy in his unusual behavior.

The toy dragon, between his roaring, grabbed a hold of her with his plushy hands.

"YOU IMBECILES!" Kathleen yelled while squirming in the toy dragon's grasp as the other toys come to her with cold glares,

"Children abandon toys! You will be ruined, broken, forgotten and hated! Spending time on a destroyed pile of garbage and even landfills!"

Woody stood up with Bo and they walked over to Kathleen.

"Well, Kathleen," Bo said to her,

"Toys will be loved by their children when lost."

"And I think you'll learn what's the true meaning of playtime," Woody added with a contempt smile to Kathleen.

Then, he gestured to the way Kathleen will be transported for playtime and told his friends,

"Right over there, guys!"

Timothy had Kathleen in his grasp and followed the other toys.

"No, no!" Kathleen cried,

"NOOOOO!"

Back in the airport, Kathleen was taken to the bag by the other toys, frozen in position. Meanwhile on the other hand, a girl comes to get her bag back, and once she did so, she found Kathleen, and smiled at it, knowing that Kathleen was of course a pirate doll.

"Mom! Dad!" the girl yelled as she had Kathleen in her arms,

"I found this doll! Can I keep her, please?"

Her parents nodded, as if they knew their daughter wanted to keep Kathleen. As they all walked, Kathleen looked at herself while frozen, and kept her mouth shut with tears, as if she didn't know what was going on.

But then, Kathleen started smiling with tears and placed her arm around the girl's shoulder for a hug, as if she finally found her new owner.

"Happy trails, Captain Kathleen," Woody said with a sneer at Kathleen.

Bo, Buzz, and Jessie nodded. Then, Buzz and Jessie got off Timothy together by holding hands, much to Woody and Bo's relievable admiration. Woody and Bo hugged Buzz and Jessie, including Timothy who purred lovingly.

"I'm happy you guys are back," Woody told Buzz, Jessie, and Timothy.

Bo smiled with tears.

"So good to see you alright, buddy," Buzz said and hugged Woody.

Jessie came for an embrace, too, so did Bo.

Woody and Bo realized, and soothed Timothy, happy that he came because of Buzz and Jessie's idea to get him back. But as they checked on Timothy's shoulder that is ripped by slash, Timothy purred to them that he'll be okay and eventually covered his toy dragon wings around them, Buzz, and Jessie for an embrace.

"Woody! Guys!" Forky cried excitedly as he had noticed at first and brought Knifey with him.

"Oh, you guys are finally back!" Knifey says,

"I thought you weren't gonna make it!"

Buzz and Jessie smiled and hugged Forky and Knifey. Woody and Bo smiled again, so did Timothy. But as they turned, the toys were sadly surrounding Bullseye who was breathing unsteadily in Slinky's paws.

"NO! Bullseye!" Jessie shouted and huddled over to her horse.

Buzz gasped, and followed her. Woody, Bo, Forky, Knifey, and Timothy ran over as well. The other toys were relieved that Buzz, Jessie, and Timothy are back for them, Woody and Bo.

You've got a friend in me

As a group, they all walked very far from the airport outside to the middle of the road that was flat and nothing was there, and now near the tiny grass-blades.

You've got a friend in me

Slinky sadly looked up at Jessie and slowly gave her Bullseye whom he smoothed with his paws.

"He's hurt real bad," he said.

Jessie took Bullseye's head from Slinky's paws and smoothed it gently.

"Come to me, boy," she says in a soothing, whispering tone,

"Can you hear me?"

Bullseye unconsciously coughed, as if he felt broken. Jessie looked at her horse's chest and gasped; it was ripped from Kathleen's sword that was already broken into pieces. The toy horse slowly opened his eyes full with a tiny cornering lone tear and looked at Jessie. In an attempt to speak a word, Bullseye whimpers directly at Jessie, including everyone.

I'm sorry I risked my life like this... I don't feel well, Bullseye says in his thoughts as he winced in pain, feeling that his chest was broken.

"Oh, Bullseye," Jessie said sadly as she fought to hold back tears,

"Woody told us that Kathleen was defeated, and so was her gang."

Bullseye purred softly, and weakly looked at Woody, Buzz, Bo, and Timothy. He whimpered sadly, making the others feel bad.

"Bullseye, buddy," Woody sadly told Bullseye and came over to slowly smooth his cheeks,

"We all stick together. We'll never be lost toys anymore."

Bullseye weakly smiled, and licked Woody slowly.

Thanks, Woody, he spoke in his thoughts.

Buzz smiled tearfully, so did Bo. Timothy sadly whimpered at Bullseye, making him whimper back.

When the road looks rough ahead

And you're miles and miles

From your nice warm bed

As Woody went back to Buzz, Bo, and Timothy, Bullseye looked back at Jessie, and purred sadly, as if he told her that he could only hope that everyone will forgive him. Jessie held back a sob, but soothed her horse.

"Aw, I do, Bullseye. I forgive you! You'll be pure innocent. I know it. And I should be asking the same!"

Bullseye then coughed unsteadily again, as if the pain became severe when it comes for him to be a ruined toy that is wounded.

"Bullseye, please don't leave me!" Jessie cried.

Forky, Knifey, Slinky, Hamm, Rex, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads, the green aliens, Dolly, Trixie, Buttercup, and Mr. Pricklepants began tearing up, so did Woody, Buzz, Bo, and Timothy.

You just remember what your old pal said

Boy, you've got a friend in me

Jessie smoothed Bullseye gently as she heard him take deep breaths.

"Why," the cowgirl doll says with heartbreak,

"Why would you do this?"

Bullseye, with tears now staining his eyes, slowly nudged Jessie with his nose and purred at her.

I did this for our own good, because friends and family of toys always stick together and never leave each other's sides, the toy horse added in his thoughts,

Our safeties always come first before anything else.

In reaction, Jessie began sobbing as Bullseye weakly reacted and sadly licked her tears away with his tongue each time one by one, as if he was comforting her. Then, he made a smooth natural kiss on her, whimpering and purring, as if he signs of loving her.

Yeah, you've got a friend in me

I love you, Jessie, Bullseye spoke in his thoughts while looking at Jessie,

I love you deep, deep in all of my heart.

Jessie was on the verge of crying as she says out loud,

"I love you, too, Bullseye! You'll always be my horse and our friend, and I'll never forget you."

Bullseye smiles weakly at last, nudges Jessie one last time, and wheezes his final word out of his mouth,

"N— Neigh…"

Then, he rests himself on her shoulder, and lets out a last breath. His eyes were slowly closed and his smile faded. He had lost the fight for his life.

In reaction, Jessie cried out,

"No, no, no, no! Bullseye, please stay!"

Some other folks might be

A little bit smarter than I am

Bigger and stronger too

As she shakes her unconscious horse, Jessie protests,

"Wake up, Bullseye! Please, wake up! I can't lose you!"

Maybe

But none of them will ever love you

The way I do

It's me and you, boy

As everything became a silence, Jessie shook her head and closed her eyes tight with sadness while looking directly at Bullseye with swollen tears, as if she remembered the pain just like when her owner Emily abandoned her for years and also the time when she had to go back to storage with Bullseye and Stinky Pete without Woody, but it wasn't until Stinky Pete, as hers, Woody's and Bullseye's traitor, had assaulted them to go to the toy museum in Japan with him until time passes by.

Then, gripping onto Bullseye's lifeless body, Jessie angrily screamed to the sky,

"CURSE YOU, KATHLEEN!"

Now thinking that hope was lost and that her horse was failed, she laid on his side, hugged him hard, and cried uncontrollably.

And as the years go by

Our friendship will never die

As Jessie's sobs and screams became louder and louder, Forky, Knifey, Slinky, Hamm, Rex, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads, the green aliens, Dolly, Trixie, Buttercup, and Mr. Pricklepants hung their heads low with sadness and respect. Buzz went over to Jessie sadly as Woody had Bo mourn in his arms to comfort her. Timothy whimpered sadly with a small gruff of a growl.

You're gonna see it's our destiny

Buzz placed a hand on Jessie and said sadly,

"I'm so sorry, Jessie."

You've got a friend in me

Jessie looked up at Buzz with tears, hugged him, and wept. Buzz hugged his crush back with a gentle kiss on her forehead to give Jessie comfort.

And as a result, with pure tragedy— it was too late.

You've got a friend in me

Bo has her sheep beside her for comfort with her cane held in her hands, but hears the plane's engine. She had Woody for a moment, and they turned to see the plane landing down, as if it's the time Bonnie was now coming home.

"Bonnie's coming," Woody says sadly.

"I know," replies Bo.

You've got a friend in me

Then, she comes over to Buzz comforting his crush Jessie who kept sobbing near Bullseye with the other toys watching.

"Bullseye's gone now, Jessie. He's in a better place. There wasn't anything you could've done," Bo says sadly to Jessie.

"No, Bo. There IS something I could get done," Jessie interfered with hateful tears.

Then, breaking the hug from Buzz, she revealed a photo of herself along with her beloved horse and their friends, back when Woody was a sheriff until now.

"But how?" Slinky asks,

"What are we gonna do about it? I thought we failed your horse."

Hamm, full of frustration, managed to insist to Jessie,

"Jessie, listen, it's over! There's nothing to be done."

Rex chimed in to his friends while upset,

"So, toys die— I mean, we can't die when we're broken— or something— but I don't understand… Kathleen killed Bullseye, and… Jessie wants him back to life? There's no way!"

Mr. Potato Head says sadly,

"Jessie, everyone's right. We never saw a toy die before because they can't until this time; it's terrible."

"Now we don't have anything to help bring your horse back," Mrs. Potato Head agrees sadly.

"It doesn't matter!" Jessie snaps heartbreakingly,

"I don't care about the pain I feel with my owner Emily, and even going into the storage OR the toy museum stuff and ALL of this abandonment anymore! All I care about now is BRINGING BULLSEYE BACK TO LIFE."

Then, she turned to Bonnie's toys with a tearful glare.

"Are you sure, Jessie?" Dolly asks with Buttercup, Trixie, and Mr. Pricklepants in frustration,

"How are we gonna figure this out together?"

"We'll go back to Bonnie's house quickly until she comes home, but we have to get quick as possible. And now, we are gonna fix Bullseye to bring him back to life," Jessie replies.

Woody looked at Jessie who was full of anger and sadness, but felt confidence as he had a final plan.

Then, Woody has Bo, Buzz, and the other toys hop on Timothy who was many times bigger and longer than them. The toys had Jessie bring Bullseye's lifeless body with her and climb on Timothy as well.

"Let's go home," Woody said to the toys once again.

Buzz nodded with Woody, and heard Jessie sniffle near Bullseye and wipe her tears away. On the other hand, Forky, Knifey, Slinky, Hamm, Rex, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads, the green aliens, Dolly, Trixie, Buttercup, and Mr. Pricklepants nodded.

Timothy let out a roar, flapped his wings and flew off as a priority to get to Bonnie, as if the toys will go back to her house on time before it's too late.

A/N: Yeah, what a heartbreak!

Here features the song You've Got A Friend In Me by Randy Newman, but it's very sad and acapella version, I believe. I'm sorry now, guys, I'm crying. *sob* *sob*

But don't worry, there will be a way to make this heartwarming story to have a good ending! Find out in the next chapter and, making the story to be continued…
