Chaos in A Broken Cycle
Zaylo267-Yeah I just decided to have Mono raise a giant tree wolf monster, if dog was mans best friend once, then so it shall be again.
Adilbek-Have you watched WandaVision? I thought about using the Agatha All Along lyrics but replacing Agatha with Shadow Six. It makes sense to me but perhaps I'm trying to hard. I also will pull some of Mono's powers as inspiration from that show since the whole city is in a bubble of CMBR static, which is basically Mono's power.
Apenasoutrocafe-Thank You!
Erick Kingdom- En este capítulo, dice que la perdona. Pero sabemos que eso no es cierto. Una parte del plan de Sloth.
Guest-Yes it is a retelling of the Seven Sins! Which means this story will go on for a while.
Obscurler- I like your OC, I wanted to message you on your OC for some more questions, but unfortunately, I cannot reply to you for some reason. I will do my best to fill in some holes or PM me if you can on your end, because I can't for some reason. I have more to add to your characters back story and wanted to know your thoughts on it. He will be different and yet similar to what I have planned for Six.
Grey Falcon Knight- I love your OC submission, Lust it is! Ill message you some questions later. I literally saw your submission a couple of days ago but was to busy to actually get onto the website and reply. Also yes! That is a good idea for envy. In a way, it will be used. You'll find out after the end of the City of Greed arc.
So as we Stand we have Sloth (Mono), Gluttony (Six), Lust (Deuce OC), Wrath (Eleven OC), Envy (?), Pride (OPEN), Greed (OPEN).
So OC's can still be submitted for Pride and Greed. Even though Mono and Six are currently in the City of Greed, you can still submit one for Greed later. You'll find out why in maybe a chapter or 2. Children chosen by Vices outside of the time loop share a similar cycle that they follow but it does not involve a time loop.
This should not be seen as a chapter of forgiveness; they may speak and talk. Mono simply trying to survive so she tells her what she wants to hear. They will talk again about forgiveness in the future.
Chapter 5: Hunted Throughout the City
Mono hadn't been walking thru the city for that long and honestly, he came to the conclusion very quickly that he didn't like it. The air was stale and hard to breath in, there was a heavy black smog hanging in the air just above the tall buildings. Large factory buildings pumping out more of it into the skies.
Just because he was older didn't mean that Mono felt any safer. Considering that he wasn't small anymore he can't just run away into some small hard to reach place from the adults turned monsters. The people around him all had a greyish skin tone, not as pale as the people of the Pale City. Sometimes he got spooked by people that got to close and almost glitched, but they were all false alarms it turned out. Cupidity City was in actuality much, much larger than the Pale City. As Mono walked around, he made sure to take some pictures of certain locations while jotting down notes in his journal.
One thing in particular that Mono figured out right off the bat was that every adult was either buying or selling something. Mono could hear some adults screaming at the top of their lungs, yelling inaudible slogans. Adults that wore luxurious clothes were haphazardly throwing their money, purchasing products and even those that wore poorer quality clothing were collecting money to buy things.
There was also tons of trash and garbage at the sides and alleyways of the city, all pushed to the sides. The tall buildings that the people lived in had open windows and a number of objects were constantly being thrown out, crashing into the piles on the street. Walking down the streets Mono eventually came to a new section of the city that had no houses but was rather filled with nothing but a bunch of different shaped buildings with flashing lights. Mono saw that these places were casinos based on the signs. A pyramid made of glass, a castle, towers and having signs with moving blinking lights.
Entire swaths of people were always entering the building. Some would come out with more money and others wouldn't come back out at all, Mono saw after observing for a while.
"I wonder what I should be looking for exactly?" Mono spoke to himself.
"Might I suggest running?" A distorted voice spoke behind him.
Mono whipped his head around to see a static version of himself that pointed in a direction.
"Sloth?" Mono asked
"I told you to run, didn't I?" Static Mono said
"Why would I run? And how are you even out here?" Mono asked
"Coincidentally, Gluttony and The Maw are currently docked in Cupidity City restocking on supply and guests. Her hosts in particular have always had strong senses far above the other vices. She can smell you, so…..she's probably gonna eat you…actually no she will definitely eat you, it's just a matter of when. Oh look there she is now, might I suggest leaving the city now?" Sloth said before disappearing.
Where he was once pointing, down the long street, coming around the corner was a figure in a yellow raincoat and hood with matching rainboots. The figure had a mask on their face while turning their face up slightly up in the air sniffing the air. Her face then whipped looking straight at Mono. The two stared at each other for but a moment before the girl burst into a sprint towards him.
"Oh no, oh no, oh no!" Mono said as he turned tail and ran in the opposite direction.
This surprised the girl slightly, but she only ran faster, more determined to catch him.
Mono turned around to see that the girl in yellow was gaining on him, closing the distance rapidly. Her feet pounding against the ground faster then his own. Mono was at this point pushing past the adults that were in his way or glitching past a couple every now and again.
"Crap, crap, crap I need to find a TV and quick." Mono said coming out into a clearing of a four-way intersection.
"HEY!" the girl yelled. Mono took off running.
Six's POV
The smell of Mono was driving Six into a excited frenzy, in a good way of course, if there even is such a thing.
She honestly didn't know what she would say if she really did find him. She knew she'd apologize for sure but would that really be enough for Mono. He treated her like a true friend while she had always had voices in the back of her mind whispering to her that he would betray her eventually. He came back for her every time she was in trouble every time, handed her his coat during the cold days and always tried to make her smile. There were times during their journey thru the Pale City where the both of them had been hungry. Six was still wary of Mono, and yet he still ventured off to go find food. When he did come back, he always managed to find something to eat. With the way the world was now it was every child for themselves. Most children that managed to find food kept it for themselves.
It was unfortunate but expected. No child actually knew when they would find food again, and yet despite that Mono would always share anything he managed to find with her. Sometimes she got hungry more often than Mono and he still went in search of food specifically for her. Thinking back on these memories now, a warm feeling was felt in her chest.
Rounding around a corner she sniffed once more and then came face to face with him. He was taller than she expected, standing almost a head higher than her. He wore a larger version of the coat that she was used to seeing him wear along with a brown hat. He was looking at her as well, with a look of shock and nervousness. Just as she was about to call out to him, he turned and ran, and she in turn followed, desperate to not let what may be her only chance at seeing Mono again go.
She almost didn't believe it was him at first, because she didn't believe she ever would get the chance to see him again. To her great fear, he began running away.
"Did he recognize me?" She thought. Before she too burst into a sprint again.
"No matter what, I need to at least explain myself." Six thought
"He won't forgive you, what sane person would, you left him to die." Shadow Six whispered.
"Mono is different, he's nice, not like the others." Six thought as a answer to Shadow Six's question, but more so to assure herself.
Thru their run Six had been getting closer and closer to Mono, gaining on him. However, she had begun to loose ground after they ran into a bustling crowd of adults. Mono adeptly dodging and glitching past people. She wasn't as tall as Mono so she couldn't quite pass off as an adult but they hardly seemed to care about her as they were falling over after Six would roughly shove some to the ground, causing other adults to fall as well like a domino effect.
Six had lost sight of Mono briefly before she saw him standing in the middle of an intersection.
"HEY! MON-"Six yelled about to try and talk to him and catch his attention long enough to catch up to him. But her began running away again.
With her heightened senses she heard him mutter one sentence that made her heart briefly stop.
"Got to find a TV." Mono muttered.
"NO NO NO NO NO NO." Six kept chanting in her head. Her muscles now working in over time to catch up with him. If he managed to find a TV who knows how far he could get. Unbeknownst to her all this running and anxiousness was making her appetite grow faster then usual.
She tried desperately calling out his name but in the bustling city and how far she was from him, all of her screams were drowned out.
Mono's POV
Mono could hear the girl yelling behind him but couldn't exactly make out what she was saying. The chase lasted for what seems like hours, when in reality it lasted about 30 minutes before Mono came across a sign that had a TV on it that pointed left.
Mono immediately turned left and saw that there was a small store that was surrounded by other shops that sold different things. This specific store however sold televisions. Bursting into a final sprint Mono made his way to his escape. The girl in yellow behind him started sprinting even harder, closing the distance of 20 feet, 15 feet, 10 feet, 8 feet, 4 feet. The girl so close to Mono he could practically hear her labored breathing. It scared him to know that this girl was similar to him and didn't want to see if what Sloth said was true about her eating him.
He was just one step away from the TV, he reached out and they all powered on, closer and closer his hand came to touching the screen. In the reflection of the Mono could see the girl in yellow also reaching out for him as he reached out for the TV. Her hand so dangerously close she was almost practically touching him.
But to his great delight and her dismay Mono disappeared in a burst of static.
Six's POV
I was so close to getting him, I just wanted a chance to explain myself. To see if we could salvage our friendship, no matter how small the chance was.
Six stood there stuck in the position of reaching out to grab Mono. Her sharp nailed hands trembling, before she slowly fell to her knees trembling as well. Her gaze still stuck on the TV's that were now off. A reflection of a crowd built up. It would see that some adults had followed them in their chase, keen on capturing at least on of the two.
The adults soon loomed over Six, but her gaze was still stuck on the TV's. A rumbling was heard from Six's stomach as the lights flickered. The last thing the adults saw was the murderous red glow of Six's eyes. Outside of the store one could hear sounds of a slaughter before everything went silent. Six walked out a bit after. Taking another sniff, a delighted looked crossed her face.
"He's still in the city, I still have a chance." Six thought
"Why are you so dead set on finding a tool you threw away already?" Shadow Six said echoing her thoughts from years ago.
Six could do nothing but bite her lip in regret over the thoughts she had when she was younger. Shadow Six was right in some respects. Mono probably wouldn't forgive her, maybe it was selfish of her to even be trying to find him, he looked like he was doing fine without her as much as it hurt, she was happy that he was fine.
"I've always been selfish, looking over my shoulder because there was never anyone I could trust. I was a kid back then, and I know that doesn't excuse what I did, but I'm older now and if I get the chance, I'll never hurt him again. So, I'll be selfish this one last time, I'll catch him, hold him down, ambush him if I have too, and say my piece. If he wants to hit me, I won't fight back, if he wants me gone, I'll leave." Six said.
"….There is a way for you to stop him from escaping momentarily. Provided you get close enough, your powers will cause his to fail for a brief moment. As you know electronics tend to fail when you use the Lady's powers. Use this to stop him from teleporting." Shadow Six said.
Shadow Six's intention was for Six to meet, who she considered a used tool, and be rejected just as any human would react. Afterall what sane human would forgive what Six had done, regardless of her age, grudges can fester far longer.
"As much as I hate Sloth I can not afford to risk my host, my best bet it to have her infatuation with the boy crushed and have her return to the Maw. Best to let the others handle him." Shadow Six thought
Six looked happy at the suggestion, a little bit of dark energy emanating from the raincoat, causing all the lights in the near vicinity flickered rapidly. Taking a few more sniffs, Six spun around slowly before looking in a certain direction and bolting off.
Mono's POV
Mono burst out of a TV landing on his butt and Barky still stuck in the pocket of his coat. Taking the pup out of his pocket, the pup stretched his soar limbs. Mono took of his coat as he was hot and sweaty. Underneath he still wore a white dress shirt and black tie, although the shirt was becoming partially see thru due to all his sweat. Looking around Mono saw that he was in a room that looked abandoned. He saw a window and went to look out of it. It seemed that he was in some sort of hotel building. He quickly took a chair and jammed it under the main entrance doorknob.
"Great job getting away! I found the entire chase to be quite entertaining." Static Mono said.
"Thanks for the help!" Mono said annoyed.
"Hey, I warned you, didn't I? What more would you have me do?" Static Mono asked
"Well you could start off by telling me what you are exactly?" Mono said.
"Impossible." Static Mono instantly replied.
"Then how am I supposed to trust you." Mono said.
"I don't need you to trust me. Any information I give, you are free to believe or not at your discretion. Whether you live or die is none of my concern, my only intention is to keep you from getting us both trapped back in that loop." Static Mono said
"Fine then what can you tell me?!" Mono said fed up with the uncaring entity.
"If you truly wish to free your world then I will offer you a bit of my power, as for why, lets just say I have a score to settle with the other Vices. This partnership will be beneficial for the both of us I assure you." Static Mono said floating in the air as if he were sitting on a couch.
"So I don't get my powers from you?" Mono said.
"Correct. When the world began to change children began awakening strange and powerful abilities. The Vices choose from those children with the powers and mindset that matches up perfectly with them and boost their powers even further. From there the Vices in most cases appear to those children as a darker version of themselves and manipulate the child until they become a vessel up to their standards, all the while never really revealing themselves as an entity separate from themselves." Static Mono said.
"So, you would have appeared to me as an evil me, to slowly manipulate be." Mono reiterated, to test if he was understanding correctly.
"Yes, but I have not the time nor luxury of slowly spinning you along, which is why I won't even bother with trying to make you believe that I am you. Perhaps I wouldn't bother even if I wasn't in the situation I am currently in, trying to trick you humans is a tiresome and annoying endeavor. So I thought why not explain the bare minimum to you to at least establish a middle ground." Static Mono said.
"So what can you give me?" Mono asked
"What do you want? Although I should warn you, the more you want the more I take. This isn't just me giving you power with no strings attached." Static Mono said
"Do you have anything that can heal me faster?" Mono asked.
"I can provide you with a power that is a staple of all the Vices. All the Vices have the power to steal souls in various manners. For you any of the residents that watch a TV will be shown their greatest desire and in return you get their soul, with which you will become neigh unkillable. I recommend this one as we have a plethora of souls currently in our possession due to the time loop." Static Mono said
"Do you have something that doesn't run on souls?" Mono asked slightly disturbed.
"Sigh…..How about the power to heal at an accelerated rate while you sleep. It's not as good as the first one but it should fit your criteria." Static Mono said
"I'll take it. Do you have anything else that's not evil-ish" Mono asked. While Barky had his head stuck in the pocket of Mono's coat digging for the bark that Mono had stuffed in his pocket.
"Fine how about the power to lull people to sleep with your transmission powers?" Static Mono asked
"I like it." Mono said.
"Great! Gosh I got tired of talking to you. The price for your additions is small for the first time. Or rather you paid the price a long time ago.
"What's that supposed to mean?!" Mono asked
"Why my dear boy, haven't you realized. Haven't you noticed that you show less facial expressions. While you still feel fear you don't scream, while you get happy you don't get overly excited, while you get annoyed you don't get angry. Just think of it like you being less emotional, you can still show emotion but it takes a lot. It started when I woke up, and slowly its been getting stronger, it's something that happens naturally that I cannot stop. It may sound bad but trust me in a world like this it may be best not to care and hide your emotions, it even dulls and delays minor pain. Until then I'm going back to sleep, have fun, try not to get caught." Static Mono said before disappearing.
"Wait I still have more questions!" Mono said but unfortunately the entity was already gone. The more Mono sat there and thought the more he came to accept what Sloth said. Mono knew he had changed slightly but had always assumed it had been because he had the cumulative memories of his past loop, but it seems to be a bit of both. The countless years spent alone and Sloth's presence.
It was at this point that Mono tried practicing another one of his abilities while he had the chance. In the room there was a hallway with a couple of doors. Reaching out his hand that buzzed with a light blue hue he pointed to the doors and concentrated. It took a moment longer than he would have liked but eventually a light blue hue came out of all the doors.
Getting up he then walked to the nearest door and walked thru it, and to his surprise it had actually worked as he had intended, he came out of a different door down the hallway after going thru a completely different door. After practicing for a few more hours Mono started to get hungry. He went over to Barky who took to sleeping on the couch.
"I'm gonna go find some food to eat for me, you stay here I'll be back." Mono said.
From there Mono stepped out of the apartment door and made his way thru the empty rooms. He never managed to find anything, so he made his way floor to floor until he found the staff kitchen that seemed to be stocked. He saw a few corrupted adults here and there but managed to not rouse any suspicion. As he was rummaging thru the fridge all the lights suddenly began to flicker. Mono stood still while looking into the fridge. His hairs stood on end and he slowly, agonizingly slowly stood up and moved his head to the door of the kitchen. There stood the girl in yellow with a red demon mask again.
Black fog emanating from her that seemed to be alive. She took a step forward; he took a step back.
Looking behind him, he saw a exit, quickly his hands glowed with static and he ran toward the door, the girl following him. She ran outside only to see him gone and before she could react the door slammed behind her. Mono had used his reality bending powers to come out of the door behind her and following right behind her before slamming the exit door behind her closed.
He gave a sigh of relief before something else happened. The large metal exit door started to creek as if it was being pulled off its hinges. He quickly ran out the room and started to make his way back up to his room thru a flight of stairs. As he was making his way up the stairs, he could see that the girl had caught up with him. Black tendrils of fog were reaching for him, giving of an ominous feeling. Piercing red eyes that seemed familiar to him pierced thru the darkness hidden behind the mask.
He was so close, he reached his floor and was about to exit into the corridor before one of the Black Fog Tendrils reached out rapidly and caught his leg in such a manner when Mono was backing a hard right, that a sickening crack was heard. The pain was dulled due to Sloth's gift but Mono's face contorted in pain still, holding in a scream and biting his lips while falling to the floor.
Sloth's POV
While browsing thru channels filled with nothing but nonsense, he had found nothing entertaining after waking up from his nap. All of the sudden the world started to shake and rumble, the place turned to static. The chains behind him in the darkness shaking worried him greatly.
"My god what is that kid doing!" Static Mono said changing the TV to watch Mono. At first, he was shocked slightly, but as he watched on, his face changed emotions. First confusion, then questioning, his face then flashed in small surprise as if realizing something before his face finally changed to one of a small smile.
"Well well well, isn't this just interesting! This has the makings of the greatest entertainment I have ever had the pleasure of orchestrating." Static Mono said fixing his position on his couch while eagerly eating popcorn.
Mono's POV
He quickly turned himself over and used his arms to pull himself back as the girl made her way out of the stair well. She was on him quickly before he could even react. However, it was not what he expected, she was cradling his broken leg in a worried manner. This action caught Mono off guard and he stopped his reaction of trying to use his powers on her. Was Sloth wrong? After fretting over his leg for a moment she finally looked at him before a hand slowly reached for her mask. Mono looked on in anticipation, and then as more and more of the girl's face became revealed Mono's face changed from anticipation to very minor surprise and quickly transitioned to a face that for all intents and purposes translated to "Yeah I'm not doing this again.".
Six's POV
When Six reveled her face, she wasn't sure what to expect. Maybe he'd curse her, hit her, show some form of emotion. However, the anticipation left his face as she finally revealed herself. His face now looked slightly miffed and annoyed. He then surprised her by pushing her to the ground while trying to get away.
Mono's POV
"Are you kidding me! What did I do to deserve this? SIX! Really! REALLY! I'm out of here! That's it, I'm going home, were done here." Mono thought as he quickly pushed her to the ground, before standing up, putting all his weight on his good leg and tried to hobble away. Sweat dripping from his brow. His hands burst with static and a ear piercing ring. Pointing to Six, reality distorted, making the short distance between them into an impossibly long corridor.
Six was trying to catch up to him but time seemed to slow down as well. Every inch she moved felt like minutes. Mono quickly left holding himself up by leaning against the wall while Six screamed to wait.
"Mono! Please wait! I just want to talk! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE!" She yelled.
Getting to his room he threw on his coat and picked up Barky stuffing him in a coat pocket. Quickly hobbling towards the TV the door of the room soon burst into splinters and Six came crashing thru, bursting with dark energy.
Mono's face was one of a slight smirk, however that smirk was soon gone when the TV was only flickering on for split seconds, not working properly. Not giving him the chance to react again she sprinted at him raising her clawed hands high in the air. Mono closed his eyes expecting pain again however what he heard was the smashing of a TV, right beside him.
"M-O-N-O!" she breaths out slowly as if finally achieving her desire.
Mono himself felt scared but didn't show it on his face as her hot breath that reeked of death came forth from her maw of sharp and dangerous pointed teeth.
Mono was preparing to try and tear her apart his hands glowing but a voice in his head stopped him.
"Hold on, don't try anything yet." Static Mono whispered.
"But you said she'd try to eat me." Mono answered back quickly.
"Of course, if you try to fight back, but they need the both of us for the loop to continue. Gluttony won't let her host kill us so just go with the flow for now." Static Mono said.
"Ok." Mono said
Mono prepared himself for the worst, he probably wouldn't be outright killed but he expected some kind of painful experience. Or maybe she'd verbally mock him on how she had dropped him and gloat about it to him.
A small body of warmth enveloped him. Her head tucked under the crook of his neck, very soon after he felt hot tears dropping and flowing down his neck. She had a iron grip on him and she took long intakes of breath. She was pressing her face as close as she could almost be desperate to memorize Mono's scent.
The only thing holding Mono back from straight up exploding on her was Sloth's frequent whining of not to do so.
"Why is she sniffing me!" Mono screamed internally.
"Oh, that's just how all hosts of gluttony act, unstable, selfish, extremely possessive like greed's and envy's, she probably will TRY eat you eventually. But we'll worry about that after we get out of this city." Static Mono said.
"Fine. I'll just jump into the first TV I see and then leave." Mono thought
"I thought you wanted to save this dump, ah you truly are a host after my own heart, only a true sloth would give up before even actually doing something. That's great, now we can get out of this cesspool of a city before Greed notices us, you know for a second there I thought I might actually have to work to keep you alive." Static Mono said
"I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry for letting you go. I was going to come rescue you I swear. I took control of the Maw, and after that things just kept piling up, I didn't know how to get back to the Pale City." Six said thru tears.
Mono knows she's lying thru her sharp deadly teeth, after all he had memories of his previous loops, she never came. This almost made him explode as well but Sloth's gift served him well, dulling the senses and emotions to keep a calm face.
"If you have any questions ask away, but try not to make her too angry, you don't know how she'll react when you lose your temper." Static Mono said
Taking into consideration what Sloth said Mono spoke to Six. Taking deep breaths, he thought not about the past too much, but rather what he could ask her that wouldn't set her off.
"You left me, after everything that I did for you and you think I'll just forgive you because you said sorry?" Mono asked
"Ye-I mean no, I was hoping we start over. I regret everything that happened, I should have trusted you. But I hated you for smashing my music box, I hated you for not saving me, I hated you because I thought I knew what you would become, but now I see that I was wrong. I-I missed y-you so much. It was all my fault I know so I understand if you don't want to see me again, but you were the only friend I ever had. I dreamed every night of how I would do things differently if I had the chance. I'm sorry for the way I treated you. I just had to see you, because even though it might be selfish on my part, I want to be right by you. I want to go places with you, eat with you again, survive with you again" Six explained quickly.
"Lie to her, keep it minor, Gluttony is listening, tell her you recently escaped." Static Mono said.
"I was stuck sitting in a chair for two years, with nothing to do but waste my life away. And what were you doing, living it up in The Maw. I don't need you, I escaped all on my own, so why don't yo-" Mono said about to go on a rant.
"Keep yourself in check, do as I say and we may be able to save this city and get rid of the Maw, 2 birds with one stone. You wanna do some good and get some payback, then just bite your tongue and deal with it until the opportunity presents itself. She thinks she has your all figured out. Rid yourself of that useless anger, it's a waste of energy right now. Just go with the flow and you'll get your chance, being my host means ignoring anything and everything around you and acting when no one expects it, why fight tiresome long battles when we can end it all with the least amount of effort. One strike to end it all. Say you forgive her and go deeper into the city." Static Mono said.
If Mono had not had his past memories, while looking at Six's tear-stained face and listening to her apology he might have been inclined to forgive her.
"Fine I forgive you. Why don't we start over? My name is Mono. What's yours?" Mono said holding out his hand to her.
Six did nothing but stare at Mono in disbelief. Was this real? She didn't actually think she'd get a chance to stay by Mono again. She just looked at Mono who still stood there with his hands out waiting. A smile bloomed on her face as she foregoes Mono's hand and goes for a hug instead, almost popping some of Mono's bones.
"Oh god, she's some much stronger then when she was younger." Mono thought
"Lets go to the Maw, with the both of us together nothing will ever be able to hurt us again, there's food, cloths, basically anything you could want." Six said
"That's great, and all but my leg is kinda broken at the moment." Mono said gesturing to his broken foot.
All things considered, his leg wasn't that bad, but any injury usually meant death was soon to follow for any ordinary kid. Fortunately for Mono he was far from ordinary.
"Oh I have some supplies back at the Maw, we can fix you up there." Six suggested, all to eager to help Mono and prove that she cared.
"No thanks, ill just sleep it off." Slowly and tentatively backing himself into a corner of the room with Barky, the pup silent as it just stared at Six as if it were looking at a Predator. Six completely oblivious to Mono's attempt to sleep away from her, plopped down, right next to Mono, shoulders touching.
"Do you mind?" Mono said. However, he received no response only more weight fell onto his shoulder as Six had fallen asleep almost immediately.
"Get some rest, it'll heal that leg injury. She won't hurt you." Static Mono said
"How do you know?" Mono thought
"Call it intuition. Besides at worst she may just nibble on a finger or two." Static Mono said.
"That doesn't make me feel any better." Mono said
He received no reply afterword. And after a few minutes dozed off as well.
An hour passed. From the Six's shadow came Shadow Six standing in front of Mono.
"Come out. I know your awake." Shadow Six said
She received no reply and began to feel frustrated before she finally got a answer.
"You know some people are trying to sleep." Static Mono said groggily, sticking his head out of Mono's shadow that shimmered like static.
"How did you escape your prison!" she spoke holding back anger.
"Is that why you woke me up? Call it dumb luck, call it fate, at the end of the day, my host escaping on his own never crossed my mind." Static Mono answered honestly.
"What makes you think I won't kill you and your host." Shadow Six said threateningly.
"Well, you see, there is nothing stopping you. Is what I would have said had I not seen an interesting sight earlier. Your host has affection, nay should I say an unhealthy obsession with my host. I assume you were on the brink of completely crushing your hosts mind, robbing her on one thing after the other, pulling her leash tighter and tighter until she couldn't leave the Maw. Her regret for dropping my host and being able to not return eating away at her. And then exposing her to the other cruelties of the world, slowly corrupting her into the Lady that governs the Maw. But you see, now the Cycle is broken, now they have reunited, and now I believe your host wouldn't dare lay a finger on mine." Static Mono said
"So, what is your goal in all this. Why is your host so active? Just because you got locked up for millennia, you're helping the humans now." Shadow Six growled out.
"Hahahaha, Gluttony you really know how to crack me up. You of all the Vices should know me the best. If I had my way, I'd be sleeping and lazing around for all eternity, however you should also know what lengths I would go to just to attain some peace and quiet, so obviously I need to rid the world of the rest of you." Static Mono spoke ominously.
"Tch..." Shadow Six scoffed before walking back towards Six's Shadow.
"I DoN't BeLIevE I sAiD YoU CouLD LEAVE!" Static Mono's voice distorted causing the dark entity to actually freeze in place due to fear.
"Ahh very sorry, I hope you understand, I get very irritable after being woken up abruptly. But before you go I thought I'd let you know that I intend to keep that promise that I made millennia ago. As you no doubt know my host may be the most powerful of the bunch, yet he lacks the, how do I say this, the killer instinct that the other 6 children have. He subconsciously holds himself back, poor kid has never intentionally killed a human with his powers. Therefore, I hope you excuse me for borrowing your host for a bit. My host could use a bit of muscle for getting rid of Greed. But I digress, go on, and slink back to whatever dark corner you call home….old friend." Static Mono said
Shadow Six looked ready to say something before quickly disappearing back into Six.
Chapter 6: Knowledge of Sloth and the Origins of Six
Static Mono stood alone amongst the sleeping children.
" Oh Hi! Didn't see you there! Might I say this is turning into quite the spectacle to watch unfold. The boy who yearned for her affection, the girl who trusted no one and thought only for herself, craving more power. Oh fate works in mysterious ways, the roles reversed. The boy who wished for a friend now unsure if he really wants friends now, given power far beyond the wildest dreams of many, power he did not ask for. The girl now, albeit unknowingly craving his affection, craving his warmth, only to be met with the same fate she thrusted him into. Her mind on the edge of collapse, how fortuitous." Static Mono said
"A moment of silence for our dear viewers. Our protagonist is in for a rude awakening. That in this world there are no heroes, just bigger monsters. Ahhhh, this truly will be my masterpiece. I do so love a good tragedy." Static Mono said before disappearing in a silent burst of static.
