Shinsuke breathes in deeply as he watches the digital sky overhead mimic a sunset as if it was as common as it is on Earth. It's beautiful and sweeps from light and gentle to dark and brooding within an hour, and he shuffles only briefly, listening to the sounds behind him. Luke is still working on Seth, trying to stabilize his system after everything he's been through. Carmella seems better, sitting nearby, hands pressed against her knees, but Docmon had had Seth longer, had done who knows what all to the man to leave him in such a state. Shinsuke sighs, closing his eyes against the fading purple glow overhead, and feels when Coronamon comes closer, pressing against his leg.

"Hello, my friend," he intones lowly, leaning down to pick the digimon up. Coronamon makes a soft noise and nuzzles close to him, clearly trying to comfort his partner's distress. "Carmella," h calls out after a moment and she looks up, a confused look on her face. "Are you feeling better?"

She hesitates before answering and he watches her closely, taking in the drawn paleness of her face and how lifeless her hair looks against her shoulders. "Maybe," she hedges. "A little." He's not terribly surprised when she slowly unfolds and stands, wavering only a little before walking up to him. "Do you... do you think Seth will be ok?" she asks, voice a little shaky and weak.

He hums, looking over his shoulder into what he can see of Luke's hideout. Not much from this angle, but enough to explain a little of what he's hearing, Luke just visible, leaning over Seth's prone body, running scans with a device Shinsuke's never seen before. "I think so," he says, though he honestly has no idea.

She buries her face in her hands for a moment and he frowns at her, gingerly resting a hand on her shoulder. He doesn't know her well, much less how to comfort her. "If he hadn't come... if you all hadn't come..."

Her words are interrupted by Luke reappearing in the mouth of the cave, a worried look on his face. She immediately quiets and everyone's focus turns onto Luke. "It's tenuous, but I believe I've stabilized him. I want to keep an eye on him for awhile longer yet, but... I'm hopeful."

"What- what's wrong with him, Luke? And why didn't it affect me as badly?" Carmella asks, her fingers closing around Shinsuke's sleeve as they watch, and wait.

Luke exhales. "Well, if I can hazard a guess, Docmon didn't hold you long enough to do everything he did to Seth," He sits down on the ground, cross-legged, and tries to find the words. "Essentially whatever experiments were done destabilized Seth's digital form," he explains. "He came... very, very close to dying. I've done the best I can to speed along his recovery, now we just... have to wait."

Shinsuke pales. Very few of them like Seth, of course, but to imagine him dying, here, alone, because of something like Docmon... It's a horrible, sobering thought. "If it's his digital form, would perhaps taking him back to earth cure him?"

Luke stares at Shinsuke. "I've thought of it, but I have two main doubts about it. One, going through the portal might hasten his body's deconstruction and his body wouldn't be able to reform itself properly on the other side. Or, he makes it, but his form here is still destabilized and going back through the portal later on would be a noted death warrant. I'd rather he stay here until I know he's as cured as can be before we take a chance like that."

Shinsuke closes his eyes and nods. Wait it is then.
