"I hate to intrude on your life, but could I stay here a bit until my Staraptor recovers? It defeated your Vulpix, but I doubt it has the strength to carry me anywhere like this"

"If you need to stay, that's fine, just know I don't have much since I just moved in...Earlier today I believe...Unless I've been unconscious for a while"

"No, surprisingly you were only out for a few minutes"

"Oh, right"

"Which, how old are you?"

"Eleven, why?"

"E-eleven!? How old were you when you enrolled into the Ranger School?"

"I never did"

"What!? Then how on earth did you become a Ranger, especially one Professor Hastings knows personally"

"If I'm honest, no idea"

"Pardon?"

"It's a little hard to explain, since I don't remember a lot of it. In short I ended up in the hospital for about a week. Sometime after I woke up, there was a letter from the Ranger Union"

"Just...Who are you?"

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"You're entirely too young to be a Ranger, You somehow have connections with Professor Hastings, you escaped from my ropes effortlessly, even your eyes are weird!"

"My eyes? I know they aren't a normal color, but they're not that bad"

"I...Just kind of pulled that out of nowhere...But wait your eyes are natural?"

"Yeah?"

"Oh, I see" She got close up in his face, they had an unnatural glowing effect to them. Which could be similar to a cartoon character's eyes in the dark.

"Uhm...What are you doing?"

"Huh? O-oh, sorry I started looking at them, and suddenly I couldn't look away"

"Oh...I actually get that a lot...But do you think you could back up a bit?"

"Oh, of course! Sorry"

"It's fine" Summer glanced around, noticing the opened book he was reading and began to think "This is was one of the books they had at the school, it looks like he was reading it before, so he really is a new Ranger...But something about this kid just isn't right, he's definitely not normal"

"Uh...Summer?"

"Huh? What is it?"

"You're still staring at me..."

"Right, right sorry"

"But...You said you're new, right?"

"That's right..."

"Well, you'll need someone to help you out! Besides if those Pinchers ever come back, what if you just end up captured?"

"I guess you could stay here...I don't have much though"

"That's fine, I could probably have some of my stuff from home brought over"

"Alright..." It was safe to assume that Akari knew full well he'd have to limit the use of his aura or he'd be caught.

As it had tragically happened in the past. Akari continued having nightmares from the summer. As of now, he seemed to be floating above a large tower. One from his memory where Ultra Necrozma flew into a rage. Except now it wasn't like before. This time, Akari failed to quell Necrozma as both he and his Pokémon were crushed by its foot just before it redirected its attention to Akari's present self, jumping into his face before fading into darkness. Kicking Akari awake to find himself safely in his new bed. Which had been in a loft while Summer had been sleeping with a half-opened journal on the floor and a pencil in her hand. Normally he wouldn't want to read someone else's journal, but he noticed his name written more often than it should have been "Something's not right with this kid...Akari isn't normal, but I don't have anything to prove it yet. Hopefully, he's on our side, but I can't be certain yet"

"Yeah...I should definitely be more careful around her..." Akari whispered to himself, closing and placing the journal onto the nightstand before heading outside to observe the ocean. That was something that helped calm him down when he had trouble sleeping, though it wasn't common for him. Soon enough, Akari fell asleep on the beach, the door creaked open as Summer and Vulpix came outside

"Alright, alright here you can go outside" She sighed with a yawn, seeing Akari, sleeping with crossed legs, his head drifting as he slept. It was then that Vulpix went to sleep in his lap

"Well...I can say one thing, you're definitely not a bad kid" She smiled to herself before lifting up Akari from his back and under his knees to carry him back inside "Come along now, Vulpix, you should sleep inside as well" She gestured for it to follow her before noticing that Akari was wearing pajamas, and without his gloves, she could see the emblem on his hand. "What kind of tattoo is this? It looks too vague for it not to have a reason, plus he's too young to even get a tattoo...Unless it's one of those temporary ones" She said, laying him down on his bed to which Vulpix curled up next to him "But, just who...Or rather, what is this kid..."

The next morning, Akari awoke to see a sticky note on his forehead. Seeing how it was a note from Summer, he began to read it "Hey Akari, I'll be gone for a bit checking in with the higher-ups so I can let them know the situation and I'll be getting my things to take over from home. While I'm gone, survey the island and help out, that'll be your first job as a Ranger. P.S, don't fall asleep on the beach, you looked like you washed up on the island, Summer" She seemed to have written it rather quickly as the handwriting seemed messy. Regardless of this, It seemed like Decidueye and Ribombee returned during the night as they had been sleeping as well.

"Oh, Looks like I'll be on my own today!" Akari said to himself looking to the emblem on his hand" And I might be able to get some training in too" He smiled to himself, heading outside to find the calm blue sky on the island for the first time as it had been dawn beforehand. It was then that a child, about a year younger than Akari ran into him as they both fell onto their bottoms.

"Ow...Huh, Y-you're a Pokémon Ranger?"

"Oh, uh yeah!"

"W-wait, but if a Pokémon Ranger is here, D-does that mean we're in danger!? W-what if we're attacked!? What if I get captured and interrogated!?"

"Uhm...I doubt anything like that would happen, believe me, I might be young for a Ranger, but I've got my own skills!" He smiled to the boy, just to notice he was still having a panic attack "H-hey! Calm down!"

"Nick!" An elderly voice called out before an old man appeared from behind the rocks "Sorry for the trouble, he's got a lot of potential, but he tends to have these Day-Nightmares"

"It's no problem...I can relate actually"

"Oh I see, Oh! You're a Pokémon Ranger, I figured our Island would get a new one once Rand Retired. I'm Booker"

"I'm N-Nick"

"Nice to meet you! Call me Akari!"

"How long have you been a Ranger?" Booker asked

Akari scratched the side of his head "Uhm...Since yesterday?"

"Well, That would certainly explain the young age..." He began staring at Akari's hand before acting as if it were nothing"

"Huh? Oh this?" He showed off his hand "It's nothing, just a weird birthmark"

"Oh, I see, I've never seen a birthmark like this before"

"Well, I guess that's what makes it weird, anyways, I was told that I should ask around the Island?"

"Oh of course! With new rangers they usually just do patrol around their area and help out People and Pokémon"

"Right, Of course! Is there anything I can do to help out?"

"Well, nothing as of now, but I could show you around the Isl-" There was a sudden explosion on a neighboring Island as several of the odd looking 'Pokémon Pinchers' as Summer called them, continued leaving and flying back to that one Island.

"Oh dear! That's an Island full of wild Pokémon!"

"I'm on it!"

"Wait, do you even have a way to get over there?"

"Yes!" He then looked down at his hand "Oh, actually, no"

"I see, Come to the docks, I make boats for a living"

"Right!" Akari ran to a small, one-person speedboat before driving it to the other island just to find several Pinchers using some kind of wrist band to warp the Pokémon into a virtual space onto the band.

"Stop right there!"

"Huh, A Pokémon Ranger!? But there hasn't been one here in years! And wait...You're just some kid!"

"Kid or not, I'll stop you, here and Now!"

"You? Stop us?" They laughed loudly, turning Akari red in the face fuming.

"Of course!" He pulled something out from under his shirt, revealing a silver Z-Crystal which was designed specifically for him to use. Rather than using it alongside a Pokémon, it multiplied the power of his aura, allowing him to do more with less aura, as well as making it so he didn't get exhausted as much. Akari closed his eyes, clenching the crystal in his fist before his aura became visible, surrounding him as his silver eyes glowed brightly

"Want to challenge me now?" He smiled before something hit the back of his head, quickly defeating him.

"Thank goodness, that kid was annoying" It appeared to be an admin as they were dressed differently than the rest of them.

"Annoying or not, that Crystal seemed to give him that power..."

"What are you saying, we take the Crystal?"

"Possibly, however there's a chance he's the only one who knows how to use it"

"I see...Very well, take the boy"

"Right!"

As it had happened before, Akari woke up on his own, just before summoning an Aura blade to his arm before swinging it at them. He knew it wouldn't scar or kill them, but it'd at least knock them down.

"Interesting..."

"W-what? W-who are you!?"

"Well...You don't appear to be normal by any means. Fine then... You may call me Skye. As for you...You don't look experienced, but your power is rather intriguing to me"

Akari didn't speak, but rather he stood still, his blade of Aura shining while pointing towards the admin.

"Quiet now I see...Very well, I might find a rival in you, might I know your name?"

Akari stayed quiet, thinking "Call me, Akari"

"Very well, Akari, may we meet again" She smiled with a wave before leaving one her machine leaving Akari on his own as a Pichu came up to him, electrocuting him as an odd sound came from behind it.

"Ow! H-hey, what's wrong!?" Akari asked seeing the Pokémon crying with a small Ukulele on it's back "Wait...They took your friends away...I-I'm sorry...I wasn't strong enough to stop them..." He looked away... "I'm going to fix this!"

With that, Akari placed a wormhole under him before putting the other one out closer by where the Pinchers went before grabbing onto the admin's machine and hanging off of it.

"Huh!? Well Akari, surprised to see you up here! But I hope you know how to swim" She kicked his hand, forcing him to fall from the machine just for Akari to appear beside her with his portals

"Put back the Pokémon!" Akari said before Creating a wormhole to the floor of his house in Alola and standing on it so it would appear that he was standing in the middle of the air.

"Go on ahead, I'll hold him off" Skye said proudly before showing off an upgraded wrist band from what he had seen before as a Dragonair appeared from it. "You might be able to withstand my attack, but let's see how you do against Dragonair!" Akari gulped, knowing that since his Aura came from Pokémon, that there was a chance it would hurt them more. Which was something he hoped to avoid. Just as he put his arm out, flicking the Ranger Styler and encased it in his aura before trying to get it to run circles around Dragonair. However the space was massive, while Dragonair easily maneuvered around it before using its tail to throw it at Akari "Use Wrap!" Dragonair had now coiled itself around Akari "And there, I win, Dragonair, Hyper Beam!"

Before Akari could even say anything, he was already out cold, still being restrained by Dragonair. Since Hyper Beam was one of, if not the most powerful attack a Pokémon could use. Even Akari would be unconscious for hours "Good work Dragonair, Now Aerodactyl, carry him for me" She returned Dragonair to her wristband as Aerodactyl came out, gripping Akari by its legs before carrying him to follow Skye.

"Hey! Akari! Where are you!?" She asked looking all over the island before Booker came up to her

"Excuse me? Did you say you're looking for Akari?"

"Yes! Do you know where he is!?"

"As of now, I'm not sure, he left a few hours ago to save the Pokémon on that island over there"

"A few hours ago!? Wait that means...Oh no they're gonna kill me!" She said before returning to his home to gather his Pokémon to help. "Please, I need your help, I think Akari's been kidnapped!" She said before looking up to find one of Akari's portals, not that she knew who it belonged to or what it even was, as Akari fell through it with burned clothes and skin. He was trussed with rope with a blindfold on and a bandana around his mouth to silence him

"Huh!? Akari!? Are you okay!?" She asked, rushing to take off the bandana

"Sorry, I tried to save the Pokémon...I wasn't strong enough..."

"Please don't say that! You're only just now starting to become a Ranger, you shouldn't have gone on your own!" She continued to scold him before untying the blindfold.

"Right...Sorry"

"Don't be sorry, just be more careful"

By now, Akari just felt worse, not even able to respond properly.

"Oh jeez, I don't even know where to begin with these ropes...Hey can you do that trick you did earlier?"

"O-oh, uh yeah...Could you look away please..."

"Huh? Oh...Uhm sure?" She faced the other way, just barely peeking to see what he did to find a silver energy reach from his hand, sharpening before simply cutting through the binds as they just fell off with a clean cut in the middle.

"How are you doing that!? And what's this thing!? What are you!"

"Huh!? That's still there!?" He quickly absorbed it back into his hand, before nervously looking towards her "Okay. Fine...But you have to keep it a secret"

"I won't tell anyone, just please tell me"

"Okay, so there's a lot to unpack, but in short I have access to a special aura from a different world, and for whatever reason, I was chosen to be one of the ones who could control it... With this Aura I can use it to create pretty much anything including portals that I can travel with"

"Wait, so all this time you've had a power, and you didn't bother to tell me!?"

"W-wait, I couldn't just share it to the world, it was bad enough in Alola..."

"I'm just kidding, we all have our secrets. Some of us...Well just happen to have bigger secrets...But what happened in Alola?"

"Someone learned about my power, and almost forced me to make a portal into another world by using it..."

"Oh, I see...But I promise you, your power won't leave my mouth!"

"Thanks..."

"Oh, but you're still really hurt! What happened"

"They used Hyper Beam..."

"H-hyper Beam!? That could've killed you"

"I know...But I'm fine"

"Fine!? You look like a Macargo!"

"I'll be fine..." He said to himself, attempting to stand before falling over

"Akari, please just get some rest! it doesn't matter who you ask, if you're this wounded, you need time to heal!"

"I can take care of myself!"

"Oh really!? Then how did you get yourself captured?" She asked, visibly annoyed.

"I-I..."

At this point, Decidueye was tired of their complaining before using its wing to knock the two of them out, placing Summer onto the couch to sleep, and carrying Akari up to sleep in his bed.

"Ow...What happened..." Akari asked, feeling his forehead and finding dried blood from the Hyper Beam. "Oh right...I guess I passed out"

"Oh, it's about time you got up, It's already noon"

"Summer?"

"Yep! Who'd you think it was?"

"No, it's nothing"

"Anyways, I did some digging, and you're not the only Ranger to have Aura"

"I'm not? And why?"

"Well, you have a great power, but you're reckless so I wanted to find someone who could help you, but yeah, I asked to meet her, and she should be arriving soon"

"What!? Am not!"

"Stop being stubborn! You keep taking unnecessary risks which caused for you to take a Hyper Beam to the face!"

"I'm a Pokémon Ranger now! I can't just let them take Pokémon away from their homes!"

"There's no point in you being a Ranger if you're going to lose your life in the process" They might have continued to argue for a while if there wasn't a knock at the door. Summer, quickly opening the door

"Hello, you're Summer correct?"

"Y-yes, that's right, this is Akari. You must be Scarlet"

"Oh, uh hi!"

"Akari? Aren't you friends with Hitasu? Also you should tend to your wounds sooner than later"

"Huh? You know him?"

"Yes. I've worked with him before" She redirected her attention to Summer "Yes. Was there a reason for us meeting?"

"Oh! Right, I heard that you could control Aura..."

"That is correct, yes. I don't have much power left, but it is true"

"Well, Akari here can sort of do the same! Akari show her"

"Oh, uh, right" He put his arm out, creating a wormhole at the end of his hand, waving his arm down to place the portal beneath him as he jumped through, landing on his bed.

"I see...Although that's not all you can do, is it?"

"Of course not!" He smiled, creating a shield of Aura on one arm with a sword on the other"

It was then that she began giving an odd look at Akari.

"Is something wrong?"

"It's nothing, I saw a Pokémon outside and confused its aura with yours...But, I assume you wanted me to train you?"

"That'd be great! He's really reckless, but I think if he learned from you, he might be a little safer!" Summer responded to which Akari glared with an embarrassed expression

"Very well, you know how to shape your Aura, but have you learned Aura Sight yet?"

"Aura Sight?"

"Think of it like this, Lucario can sense and emit Aura, right?"

"I believe so"

"When one focuses on their surroundings, then they can see the life in all things"

"Wait really!?" He asked before intensely staring at a wall.

"It...Doesn't work that easily, Here hold still" She took off a scarf before tying it over his eyes "I find that the best way to learn is to focus without any distractions. Calm your mind, and connect your aura to your eyes"

"Uh...Alright" He closed his eyes before focusing for a moment seeing the world beyond his blindfold for only a fraction of a second as his vision turned silver before flickering back to normal.

"Can you see?"

"For only a moment, yes"

"Good, when you can use it properly, it will be a great asset to you...For your first task...Uhm... The island nearby will be a good way to need to go a week without your sight"

"W-what!?" Both Summer and Akari said loudly

"A Week? I can barely see with my Aura"

"Precisely! I find that you grow more when under extreme circumstances"

"I...I understand" He said nodding

"W-wait, are you sure?"

"Yeah...I can't fail again..."

"Alright"

"Good, can you teleport yourself there?" She asked, seeing him nod before throwing a portal underneath him, disappearing to the island where few humans would go due to the amount of wild Pokémon that stayed there freely.

"Are you sure it's a good idea for him to be there?"

"I'm familiar with the type of person he is"

"What do you mean?"

"He's like my brother, I feel that if he is unable to grow on his own, he will feel worthless. However, this is something we cannot interfere with"

"I understand, I hope he'll be okay..."

"I have faith in him, as should you"

"Faith? But you just met him"

"I did not tell him because I feared that it would bring upon an uncontrollable pride...But His Aura...I haven't seen anything like it before, and his control over it surpasses what should be possible at his age"

"Oh, I guess you should know more about his abilities than me...But are you sure?"

"Positive. But it will only grow if we aren't to intervene"

"Understood"

"Good, I will check on his Progress come morning" She said at last before wincing, falling down to one knee as she held her head in pain

"Are you okay!? Scarlet!?"

"N-no...I'm fine I just overdid it"

"Huh?"

"A long time ago I lost most of my power from a criminal organization, unfortunately, I have yet to recover from that"

"Oh, but...You should stay here for the night! It'd be best if you don't push yourself too heavily"
