Author's Note: So this is something that I thought of a few weeks ago before I even published the first chapter, and that was to have "Lost Tales" chapters that would deal with different minor events in the lives of different people in the group. This Lost Tale goes over the first time that all five of the group met in person for the first time before the UA Entrance Exam (and we all know how that went).
So Lost Tales will be coming out the day after the midpoint of each arc that I have planned is released, or about as close to that that I can get. Which means that after Chapter 5, the first Arc is halfway done. The first Arc, titled "Humble Beginnings" by myself, is 9 chapters long. Lost Tales are also going to be a bit outside of the range of my normal chapters (this one being about 1500 words). So they're kind of like mini filler episodes, but not taking the regular upload spot.
I hope you enjoy these, and I'll see you next Saturday for chapter 6.
Today was the day! Izuku was really happy. Today was the day that everyone was coming together for the first time. They had been texting in the group chat for a while, but as it stood, Mei was the only person to have met Hitoshi in person, and neither Mei nor Hitoshi had met Fumikage yet. Of course, they had all sent pictures, so everyone could put names to faces, but that wasn't the same as being together in person.
All of them had gotten along well together in the text chats, but the reality of then not having met physically in person yet was a bit of a concern.
It had been about three months since Izuku met Fumikage that night at his dojo, and both he and Kyouka had spent a good amount of time with the raven-headed boy. While he wasn't too talkative, he was still fun to have around.
A knock on Izuku's front door interrupted his musing. He hurriedly ran to the door and opened it to see both Kyouka and Fumikage standing outside.
"Hey guys, thanks for coming! Mei and Hitoshi aren't here yet, but they will be soon." Izuku said.
"Hi, Izu!" Kyouka greeted. She quickly hugged him and made her way inside.
"Hello, Izuku. It is good to be back here. I am looking forward to actually meeting everyone." Fumikage said, stepping inside and following the purple haired girl inside.
"It smells amazing in here!" Kyouka said with a huge smile on her face.
"My mom has been working on food for us tonight! Once everyone's parents agreed on the plans, she's been working on this whole menu for tonight." Izuku explained.
"All the best for my little boy and his friends!" Inko yelled from the kitchen.
"Thank you, Miss Inko!" Kyouka yelled back. "So…" She looked at Izuku. "What are we gonna do until Mei and Hitoshi get here?"
"I thought we could play some games?" Izuku half suggested and half asked, unsure. He led the two of them up to his room.
"What kind of games do you have?" Fumikage asked.
"Well, we have Twister ZX," Izuku started as he began rifling through his closet.
"Oh, the one that lets quirks be used?" Kyouka asked.
"That's the one. We also have Monopoly pro-hero edition."
"This is supposed to be a time where we meet in person and get closer to each other. I don't think Monopoly is the best idea for that." Kyouka laughed.
"I concur. I want my first impression with these two to be positive." Fumikage nodded.
"We have the three person expansion of Battleship?" Izuku asked.
"Ooooh, an oldie right there. That expansion is ancient! How good of condition is it in?" Kyouka asked.
"Pretty good, I'd say." Izuku pulled the box out and opened it. It was in close to perfect condition. Some light wear along the edges was all they could see. "Is this what you wanna play?"
"That sounds like fun to me. Fumikage?" She looked at the boy next to her.
"I would enjoy playing such a game."
10 minutes later, the three of them were playing a game of Battleship, and tensions were high.
"I swear you're cheating!" Kyouka yelled after getting her third ship sunk by Izuku's torpedoes.
"I'm not cheating, Kyo. I'm just getting lucky with my guesses, I swear!" Izuku defended himself.
"Yeah, and let's not forget what your quirk is! Your luck is bullshit and you know it." Kyouka said, exasperated. "B3, Fumikage."
"Hit. You've sunk one of my ships." Fumikage said.
"Yes, finally!" Kyouka celebrated.
"E8, Kyo." Izuku said.
And with that, Kyouka's celebration ended. "Damnit!"
"Was that another hit?" Izuku asked.
Kyouka didn't say anything. She simply got up from where she was sitting and walked next to Izuku. And then she pushed him off of the small stool and onto the floor. "Asshole…" she grumbled.
Before anything else could be said, the three of them heard the doorbell ring. Izuku quickly stood up from the ground and rushed to his front door. He opened it to see Mei and Hitoshi standing outside.
"Come on in, guys! It's good to see you again, Mei. And you're Hitoshi, right?" Izuku welcomed them.
"Yes, that would be me, broccoli boy." Hitoshi said.
Izuku heard laughing behind him. "Ahahaha! Broccoli Boy! Hitoshi, I haven't even met you in person yet, but I like you already!" Kyouka laughed.
"Likewise. So what's going on now?" He asked. "It smells wonderful in here."
"That's where I come in!" Inko interjected from the kitchen. "I made dinner for all of you! Come on in and sit down. I'll get dinner out for you soon."
The five kids sat down at the dinner table, and Inko soon placed several large bowls of Katsudon on the table, earning a huge smile from Izuku.
"Thank you, Miss Midoriya. This looks delicious." Hitoshi bowed his head.
"Oh please, you're one of my son's friends. Please, call me Inko."
"Okay, Miss Inko. Thank you for the meal." Hitoshi bowed his head one more time and began eating. The rest of the group soon joined him.
"So, I know how Izuku met Jirou and Tokoyami, and I was there when he met you, Hatsume. But how did you come to know him, Shinsou?" Inko asked.
"Mei added me to a group chat, and we've kind of just talked and grown as friends."
"Oh, how wonderful! Are you going to be a hero, too?" Inko smiled.
"I want to be. Until I met Izuku and Kyouka, Mei was the only one to think that my quirk wasn't just a villainous quirk. These three saw my potential, and then when Fumikage joined, he welcomed me right alongside them." Hitoshi explained.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear about all of the others in your life, but I think it's wonderful that you've found such good friends now."
"Thank you, Miss Inko."
"Oh, anytime. Now, you five enjoy yourselves. You probably don't want an old mom crowding around you anyway. Have fun!" And with that, Inko took her bowl of katsudon and retreated back into her room, leaving them by themselves.
Dinner went by quickly, as they all scarfed their food down rather than talk. They had all night to talk and hang out, after all, and they didn't want the food to cool, either.
After dinner, the five of them crowded around the living room TV. After a bit of discussion, Super Smash Bros. 8 was loaded into Izuku's console.
"That's bullshit!" Kyouka yelled, gripping her controller tightly and looking at Izuku. "Spyro's dash attack as WAY too many invincibility frames!"
"It's not his fault that you're still playing Kirby. He sucks in this game." Hitoshi said.
"Kirby is great, you leave him alone!" Mei said in response. "Besides, you're really annoying to play against too, Hitoshi. Monster Hunter is busted! That charge blade attack is way powerful and has super armor!"
"You can XDI out of it!" Hotoshi yelled.
Fumikage didn't say anything as he chose Ganondorf once again.
Their matches didn't last long after that, as Kyouka stopped playing. Izuku used Spyro's dash attack to kill her on the last stock once again, and she stood up, set her controller down, and waked to Izuku's room without saying anything else.
So instead, they all played Jenga. Yet another horrible choice, as Izuku's quirk helped him out numerous times. Mei's tipping point was when Izuku pulled out the single block at the bottom. The tower dropped a few inches and landed squarely. Mei's turn was next, and there was no way that she could top that. The tower soon fell.
So they moved onto blackjack. Izuku won most of the rounds because of lucky dealing. Izuku swore up and down that he wasn't trying to affect anything. It just kind of was happening. So of course, The group couldn't get mad at him. His quirk, on the other hand, was a different story.
At the end if the night, though, Kyouka was still laughing like the rest of them.
As they all started to feel the effects of fatigue setting in, they pulled out a few sets of sleeping bags for the boys to sleep in the living room in and a blowup mattress to accompany Izuku's bed in his room.
Before splitting off to go to sleep for the night, Izuku spoke to his friends. "This was a lot of fun, and I'm glad we're getting to do this. I just know that we're all going to be great heroes together!" He looked at Mei. "And support gear master! And I wouldn't want to be with any other group of people. Thank you for being my friends."
They easily fell asleep soon after that, each one dreaming of their soon to be days in UA and thereafter as heroes.
