Day 1: Injuries/Care/Comfort

Let me take care of you

A soft pleasant breeze blows as Yae wonders through Inazuma's streets on her way to the Tenryou Commission Headquarters. As she slowly approaches the compound, she can peer in the distance the magnificent buildings that form it.

Yae then sees a dark purple haired woman getting out of the main building to pause and take a deep breath.

- Sara!

Yae quickly greets said woman calling her by her name, seeing her turning her head around slightly surprised by her presence to then wave back at her weakly.

The pink haired woman frowns at this, before she's close enough to the general to notice the way her hands tremble as slightly and imperceptible that she doesn't think anybody who doesn't have such keen eyes as hers would be able to notice it.

She then notices the way Sara balls her hands into fists as she plasters the best smile she can muster, and yet Yae can still notice the tenseness on her features.

Yae can't help but let her eyes travel up along the general's arms, moving along the other woman's torso to notice the quick way her chest rises and falls with every labored breath she takes.

As if that isn't enough indication that something is clearly wrong with the general, Yae allows her eyes to travel higher as she quickens her pace, noticing the paleness in the other woman's skin, before she gazes at her usual sharp golden eyes lacking of their usual brightness, heaviness clouding them while struggling to remain open.

Concerned by the general's health, Yae shortens their distance as quick as she can and takes Sara by the hand, getting surprised at the warmth of her touch.

- Sara dear, are you okay? – Yae asks her concernedly, seeing Sara giving her a weary smile.

- I'm okay Yae, don't worry.

Sara tries to reassure her with hoarse voice while squeezes the other woman's hand, but still, Yae can't help but notice the weak attempt to do it.

More concerned than before, Yae brings one of her hands up to cup the general's cheek, when once again, she meets the warmth of her skin, deciding then to place her hand on Sara's forehead.

- Sara, you're burning up.

- I'm okay Yae, really. Now if you excuse me I have to go and train my soldiers.

Sara answers weakly as she lets go her hand and tries to take a step towards the training field where her troops already await for her, when a sudden wave of nausea hits her and makes her stagger in her walk.

- Sara, please, it's clear you aren't okay and in need of rest.

Yae tries to reason with her, but the only thing she gets from the other woman is nothing but being ignored as Sara takes another step towards the training field.

The pink haired woman can only sigh and watch the stubborn general moving forward, her jaw set so tightly that looks even painful, before she staggers once again.

Yae runs towards her just in time to see her golden eyes rolling back, before Sara faints. She barely has time to react and catch her in her arms, before the both of them end up on the ground.

- Sara!

She yells, cradling the general's body close to hers as she cups her cheek and lifts her head to notice Sara lost consciousness.

- General Kujou!

- General!

The soldiers' yelling is heard in the distance as they quickly run towards both women.

- Madam Guuji, what happened?

One of the youngest soldiers dares to ask clearly worried about their general.

- What happened? How dare you to ask me what happened!? Haven't any of you realized that your general is burning up!?

Yae yells at them with evident anger in her voice, bringing shame to the soldiers for not have been able to notice their own general wasn't feeling well.

- W-we are truly sorry, Madam Guuji. The general always look so strong that we didn't even think she could not be feeling well.

At least they have the decency to be ashamed.

Yae thinks to herself as she pinches the bridge of her nose and exhales heavily, allowing a couple of strong soldiers to carefully take Sara from her arms while she accepts the offered hand of another soldier to help her stand up, shaking the dust off her own clothes.

- That's not important now. Help me to take the general to her chambers and lay her carefully on her bed, then leave. I'll take care of her.

The soldiers nod at her command, before the ones holding the general carry her to her chambers just like Yae asked them, quickly hurrying away after laying her on the bed. The pink haired woman then locks the door.

Yae sighs, walking to the bed to sit on it and look at Sara softly while she caresses her cheek.

- Stubborn little bird.

Yae exhales with no malice in her voice, leaving a last caress on Sara's cheek as well as a kiss, before she carefully removes her tengu mask from her head and places it carefully on the nightstand beside her. She then takes her haori off, folding it to leave it on the floor next to the nightstand, leaving the other woman only in her black top and shorts.

It's then when upon looking back at her, she notices the medium-sized wound on her stomach.

- Idiot.

She whispers, tears already forming in her eyes at the sight of the ugly redness around the wound. Yae shakes her head and takes a deep breath to calm herself down, wipping the tears that managed to fall, before she goes for a washcloth. She damps it in water, leaving a kiss on Sara's forehead before she places the washcloth over it.

- What I'm going to do with you?

She whispers, letting her gaze linger on Sara's face for a moment before she begins to clean and disinfect the wound on her stomach as thoroughly and carefully as she can, feeling Sara squirming under her care.

- Yae? – Sara croaks as she slowly begins to open her eyes to see Yae healing her wound – That's just... a small wound.

- A small wound? You call this small wound!? Sara, this isn't small and it is infected! Didn't occur to you to go to the infirmary to get it healed before it ended up like this? – Yae scolds her while giving her a hard look and Sara can't help but shrink, looking down in shame unable to meet her gaze.

- I… I didn't think it was that important. I couldn't bring myself to waste the healers' time when others were more in need of it – Sara mumbles quietly, and Yae can only look at the selfless woman in front of her softly, sighing, before she cups her cheek to caress it with her thumb.

- I love how selfless you are, my little bird, but couldn't you at least come to me? You know I could have healed you right away.

- I just… didn't want to worry you nor been a nuisance to you.

Sara answers softly, and Yae can only pull her into a short tender kiss.

- My dear, you could never be a nuisance to me. I know battles entail risks and you'll get wounded and won't want me to be worried about you, but please, don't do this again. I'm your girlfriend, and you know I'm not precisely fragile, so please, let me help you and take care of you.

Sara can only nod, giving her a timid smile as she takes Yae's hand to leave a kiss on her palm, before she lets Yae go back to heal her wound and apply some herbal ointment on it.

- I'm sorry, Yae – Sara apologizes quietly, and Yae doesn't have the heart to scold her more, ending up healing her wound to put a small bandage around it to protect it from getting infected again.

- I know you are Sara. Just don't be so stubborn and let me take care of you, okay? – Yae says, seeing her nodding before she gives her a soft smile – Now please take this medicine, it'll help to get the fever down and with the infection of your wound.

She says as she leaves a kiss on Sara's cheek, noticing how warm she keeps being, before giving her the medicine. She sees the grimace on the tough general's face as she takes it, eliciting a giggle from her, before she helps Sara to lay down back on the mattress.

- Now rest so the medicine can take effect.

Sara can only sigh and nod, seeing Yae standing up to leave before she extends her hand and grasps Yae's hand, looking at her with vulnerability in her eyes, and Yae can only give her a tender smile, understanding her silent plead while taking her hand in hers to squeeze it and bring it up to her lips to kiss it.

- I'm not going anywhere until I make sure you're okay again, don't worry – Yae says softly as she squeezes her girlfriend's hand again to stress her words, seeing a soft smile taking over the other woman's features.

- Thank you.

Sara thanks her softly, seeing Yae pulling slightly away to shift into her fox form and climb to her chest, careful to not cause her any pain, before she curls up on it and nuzzles her neck. Sara can only smile grateful at the small fox, kissing Yae's little nose while she hugs her closer to her.

- I love you – Sara breathes softly, bringing a smile to Yae's lips who can only purr and nuzzle her neck in return.

Yae then notices her girlfriend's breathing slowly steadying, yet feel the warmth still radiating off her, making her gaze up at her worriedly to see a soft smile playing on her lips, gratefulness glinting in her eyes, before they grow heavy and flutter close to then ending up falling asleep.

Yae can't help but watch her sleep for a while, making sure she isn't in pain, before she snuggles more into her, hoping her own warmth helps her to recover and get the fever down sooner, as well as help her to sleep better as it always does.
