Day 3: Pets/Kids
Like pet, like kids
Sara hears him even before he's outside, light footsteps trying to sneak quietly into her bedroom, before he climbs her bed, the mattress dipping slightly under his weight. Then, she feels him starting to jump on it.
- Wake up mommy!
Her little kid yells at the top of his lungs as he keeps jumping on the bed, happy giggles escaping his lips. Sara can only watch him with a tender smile on her face, before he jumps onto her chest laughing wholeheartedly.
- Wakey-wakey!
He yells again, hugging his mother tightly while she's the one giggling now, leaving a kiss on his temple.
- I'm awake, I'm awake – she lets out in between giggles, hugging him tightly as she looks around the bedroom – Where is your-
Sara can't even finish her sentence before they hear something crashing hard against the floor and the start of someone crying. She quickly gets out of the bed, grabbing her son by the collar of his shirt, hanging him in the air as she quickly runs towards the source of the noise, happy giggles mixing with a bitter loud sobbing.
As soon as Sara enters the kitchen, she sees her daughter crying her heart out while a pool of milk floods the floor, mixing with the pieces of broken porcelain on it.
The tengu warrior sighs and leaves her son on the kitchen table, before doing the same with his sister, cupping and stroking her cheeks to calm her down.
- Tell me little one, are you okay? Did you got hurt? – she asks her daughter as she makes sure she's okay and doesn't have any cut or wound on her body, hearing her sniffling as she nods then shakes her head.
- I'm okay, mommy.
Sara lets out a sigh of relief, kissing her daughter's forehead, before she begins to clean the mess she did.
As she does it, she can't help but frown upon not seeing her wife around.
- Kids, do you know where mama is? – she asks them after throwing away the broken pieces of porcelain, seeing the kids pointing at the refrigerator.
- Mama left a note for mommy.
Sara simply smiles and takes the note to read it.
"An emergency has come up at the Yae Publishing House that I have to take care of, so you'll be taking care of the kids alone today. Be good"
Sara can already picture Yae winking at her playfully while blowing her a kiss, before she sighs and turns to look at the kids, seeing them looking at her with such a mischievous grin on their precious faces while wagging their tails from side to side so happily that send shivers down her spine.
- O-okay, what do you want for breakfast? – she asks cautiously, only to be bombarded with several and different excited meals.
She sighs tiredly, passing a hand over her face, before she settles for the easiest meal she can cook. After all, Yae is the best one cooking between the two of them.
With the exception of some occasional faces of disgust and comments of her not being a good cook as she's worst than mama, breakfast goes smoothly. Or at least as smoothly as it can go with the terrors that her kids are.
Sara sighs again as she begins to wash the dishes, looking at the rain pouring down through the kitchen's window.
Another sigh escapes her lips upon not being able to take the little ones outside for a walk and to play, before she dries her hands with a cloth and turns around, already seeing them looking at her.
- TV? – she asks them, seeing happy smiles on their faces as they squeal and run towards the living room to turn the TV on and sit on the couch to watch it.
Sara shakes her head amused and follows them, sitting on the floor to stretch as they're engrossed watching the TV. Then, she crosses her legs and closes her eyes to meditate.
After a while, she feels a weight on her legs, then another, opening her eyes to look down into two pairs of sparkling golden eyes gazing up at her.
She chuckles and leaves a kiss on each of their foreheads, hearing them giggling happily before they turn their attention back to the TV, getting engrossed in it. Sara can only smile, before she watches the TV with them, giving up on trying keeping meditating.
A couple of minutes go by, before she feels something brushing her stomach. She furrows her brow looking down, but she doesn't see anything out of the ordinary.
She shrugs, and turns her attention back to the TV, before she starts to giggle then to laugh openly, feeling her kids' tails wagging against her stomach, brushing it and tickling her.
- Kids please stop, it's ticklish – she says between laughs, her kids looking at each other with a wide grin on their faces before they intensify their tickles – Kids!
Sara laughs louder, infecting the kids with her laugher, before she unfolds her wings.
The little ones squeal surprised, falling on their butts and onto the floor, before they get up and quickly throw themselves onto their mother's back to play with her wings as well as nuzzle them.
Sara giggles as she flaps her wings, hearing the little ones squealing and holding tighter onto them, before she stands up to run around the house flapping her wings more while the laughs of the little ones fill the house and make her chest burst of love.
Tired, she stops to feel her kids hugging her tightly, quickly reciprocating the hug and kissing their heads, before they go to prepare the lunch.
Luckily for her this time they don't complain about her cooking, probably due to exhaustion after such a playful morning.
Sara smiles as they finishing eating, before they go back to the living room to read for a while.
- Mommy, why can't we have a pet? – her daughter asks her as they're reading one of the illustrated books Yae owns.
- I'm not sure mama would be happy about having a pet in the house – Sara answers as she furrows her brow thinking about Yae.
- Why? – her son is now the one asking.
- Let's just say that mama isn't really fond of them.
She says caressing their cheeks and bopping their noses as they pout sadly, before they drop the subject and lean back onto their mother, prompting her to continue reading the book.
When Yae comes back home, she can't help but giggle quietly as she sees the tender sight in front of her: Sara laying on the couch with their little ones snuggled into her, her wings wrapped tightly around them.
She engraves the image in her memory, and approaches them to leave a kiss on the kids' head, then another on Sara's forehead, seeing a crease appearing on it, eliciting a giggle from her. Then, she leaves another kiss on her nose, seeing her wrinkling it up, before she pecks her lips, seeing a smile spreading across them.
Soon, Sara's golden eyes open to stare into hers sleepily.
- Welcome home – Sara welcomes her softly, making Yae's heart skip a beat, before she leans to kiss her shortly.
- I'm back – she whispers back, before nudging her head at the still sleeping kids on top of her wife, giggling softly – I'm going to get changed.
She tells her, seeing Sara nodding at her, before she disappears into their bedroom. Sara follows her with her gaze, before she looks down at the kids with a soft smile spreading across her lips.
- Wake up sleepyheads, it's time for a bath before it's late – she says as she shakes them softly, seeing them yawning and blinking before stretching, poking her cheeks in a funny way to then climb down the couch to take her hands in their small ones and walk together to the bathroom, more yawns escaping their lips.
Sara smiles at their cuteness and how obedient they're once they're either exhausted or sleepy and helps them to undress as the bathtub fills. Then, she puts them in the slightly warm water, putting a rubber black bird in the bathtub so they can play with it.
- Okay kids, behave while I go to get something.
She tells them, seeing them nodding, before she leaves to her bedroom, entering just as Yae is about to go out of it, pulling her by the waist to kiss her deeply.
- Couldn't you wait, little bird? – Yae says teasingly as she pulls Sara into another deep kiss.
- I wanted my kiss for leaving me alone taking care of the little devils.
Yae can't help but snort and roll her eyes at the amusing way her wife has to refer to their kids.
- Can I ask for something more selfish though? – Sara asks hesitantly, seeing Yae arching an eyebrow at the strangeness of her request.
- Of course – she answers in a beat, not caring about what the other woman wants from her.
- Can you please shift into your fox form? – Sara asks shyly, making Yae arch an eyebrow again, before she shakes her head and smiles amused at her, indulging her wife as she shifts into her fox form.
Sara smiles at her gratefully, taking her by her armpits to lift her up and leave an affectionate kiss on her little nose, before taking her with her. Yae can only furrow her brow, before they enter the bathroom, seeing the kids playing on the bathtub.
- Kids, here's our particular pet.
Sara announces happily, hearing the kids squealing and hitting the water joyfully while Yae hits her chest and cheeks with her paws trying to escape from her hold. Soon, she finds herself falling into the water, quickly going to the surface to send a death glare to her giggling wife.
- Are you okay? – Sara asks softly as she crouches beside the bathtub, ignoring Yae's glare before the small pink fox squints at her and spits a stream of water to her face – I guess you are.
Sara says between giggles, as the kids squeal happily and hug the small fox tightly to then pet her, peppering kisses all over her face.
You're so going to pay for this.
Yae thinks to herself as her tail wags happily at being petted, before a loud and embarrassed purr escapes her lips as Sara scratches her chin.
Well, maybe her revenge will have to wait...
