"It was unjust, what happened to my mother." Helena Ravenclaw pursed her silver blue-tinged lips and turned away to look out of the window. "She deserved much more."

"Did you manage to see her when you came back?"

Helena shook her head. "Not before she died. I hurt her terribly..."

"You were young."

Helena shrugged and turned around again to face the young Ravenclaw who had managed to somehow get Helena to reveal more about herself than she ever had done before.

"It has been said that she died from a broken heart," Helena said softly. "And I never got to say goodbye, or apologise... It was partly the reason I came back..." she trailed away and looked pensively at her translucent body. "I thought I would be able to see her."

Luna Lovegood unconsciously pulled at her sock which had rolled down past her heel. "I think, I think she probably knew all of that. Deep down," she added thoughtfully. "Mothers a special like that. Incredibly wise..."

Helena smiled slightly. "She was wise, my mother," she agreed with a touch of wistfulness in her voice. "Yours sounded like she was too."

"She was," Luna agreed. She then sighed a stood up, her radish earrings bouncing and her wand wobbling slightly behind her ear. "It's late," she said. "Thank you for talking to me," she added. "Dad doesn't speak of mum much, and I understand," she added quickly. "But it's harder when it's the anniversary of her..." Luna trailed away. She did not need to finish because Helena understood — she also found the anniversary of her mother's death difficult to experience.

Strange that both their mothers had died on the same day though, Helena thought privately.

"Goodnight, Helena," said the Ravenclaw.

Helena looked up. "Goodnight, Luna Lovegood."
