'I'm to thank you most sincerely for your help, so if I get an opportunity I'd love to ask you to dinner next time I'm in New York. Are you in? Alright, I call you, so goodbye!' Andy took leave of the caller and hung up the phone. 'Who was it?' Ephram asked, entering the room and drunk a glass of soda in one go. 'Just Dr. Douglas, he's doing fine.' 'Good to hear. Oh, I'm gonna meet Luke in a couple of minutes.' Ephram looked at his watch and grabbed his jacket. 'Have fun tonight, my son!' Andy smiled warmly and watched Ephram leaving. Then he grabbed his jacket too and made his way to the stairs. 'Delia, I have a couple of things to do in West Village and Ephram's meeting Luke. It'll take a couple of hours, so you can stay and watch a movie, ok?' Andy shouted upstairs, leaning against the wall and waiting for her to answer. 'Ok, can you bring some Chinese food for dinner with you?' Delia answered, coming downstairs and giving her dad a warm goodbye hug. 'Sure, kiddo!' Andy said softly, giving her a little kiss on her forehead. 'Bye Dee!' 'Bye dad!'
Taking the elevator down, he watched a woman reading a colorful book to her son and for one moment she seemed to be so much like Julia and the little boy looked like Ephram when he was a little and Andy realized how many years he missed of his family. His life and love might still go on but in his heart and in his mind Julia would be there, now and always. Suddenly the elevator music sounded and the woman stepped out of the elevator. 'Daddy!' the little boy screamed happily, running out of the elevator and jumping into a young man's arms and then the elevator doors closed. Andy was absolutely absorbed in thoughts until the elevator music sounded again and he stepped out in the lobby of the hotel and finally out in the busy streets of New York.
It seemed to be an unseasonably sunny day, even so the wind was cold and pretty uncomfortable and so Andy huddled up to his black coat and deeply buried his hands in the pockets of his coat and cast back into his thoughts. A couple of thoughts later he had reached the fourth street and stood in front of the building of New York University. He took a deep breathe, opened the double door and entered the lobby. An awful silence surrounded him and every step he took seemed to break the silence a little more. 'Can I help you?' a woman asked, appearing out of nowhere. 'Yeah, I'm searching for Mr. William Franklin.' 'Ok, follow me. You should know, we have around hundred teachers in this section of NYU and it's hard to remember all names.' 'Yeah, I remember all the nurses in the hospital I've worked in. It was really hard to remember names and everything.' 'So you're a doctor?' 'Yeah, I was a brain surgeon.' 'Wow, what happened?' she asked, turning round to face him and giving him a serious look. Andy stared at her and wondered how she could know that something happened. 'You said 'was' so I wondered what happened.' She turned round and started leafing through her books again. 'My wife died.' 'Oh, I'm sorry, my deepest condolences. Gotcha! Mr. William Franklin is having class in room 237. You have to go through this corridor and then turn right, it should be the second room on the left side.' 'Thank you.' 'You're welcome! Goodbye!' 'Goodbye!'
Andy walked through the corridor and then turned right and began reading the nameplates. 'Room 237, that's it.' Andy tried to hear something but the room was completely soundproof and so he waited. Suddenly the bell rung, the door opened and a couple of students came out and walked to their lockers. Andy entered the lecture room and looked around to find the person he was looking for and in the twinkling of an eye he caught sight of her.
