I will admit, I never saw the movie because I hear lots of cringe about it but I researched through wiki and various screens. However I did like the design of Sisu that Eastern dragon. In this fic, I always to do a fic involving a Western Dragon having a romance with an Eastern Dragon. Without further ado here is 'Ignus, the Dragon of the West'.
Disclaimer: Raya and the last dragon content belongs to Disney. This is a fanfiction meant for fun and it is no way canonical to the official release thankyou
Chapter 1 Eurobania (Updated)
Once upon a time there is a land west of Kumandra shaped as a Western majestic dragon with it's wings and arms spread apart proudly. It is called Eurobania(Euro-Bane-nia). It is home to many kingdoms like Kumandra. Mind, Breath, Wing, and Tail blade.
One kingdom stands out as the most powerful of them all. A land of lush green meadows and beautiful magical forests. More importantly ruled by a dynasty of Wizard Kings. That kingdom is called 'Soul'.
Soul is known for their connection of the magical arts rivalling only Mind. It is also said humanities' old friends, the long lost dragons originate from there where they granted the first humans there the gift of magic becoming the first wizards. With the power of Magic and wisdom, Soul becomes the most respected and powerful kingdom of all Eurobania.
Today it is ruled by a mighty Wizard king name Merlon Mythrill. Like his predecessors, he used his magic to rule the kingdom right and just in the capital city of 'Spirit'. At one point he has only two sons.
One is Bailinor. The eldest and the most courageous and bold preferring the ways of the Mystic Knight. As heir to the throne, he is expected to one day succeed his father as King.
The other is Ignus. The younger and the most intelligent and witty. More interested in the study of world around him, he aims to be a great wizard like his father hoping to be an explorer and wants to teach. He used to be as kind as his brother until one day his heart darkened.
Not to the extent of being evil but the young Ignus start to grow bitter with a heart of anger towards his fellow man. He would shun many that he used to call friends even his own family. The poor younger prince prefers to be alone with his studies. As if he just lost faith in the very people he was close with. When he did leave the castle, he would cause trouble, using his magic to make others almost miserable, pushing them off.
His father the king tried to reason with Ignus hoping to help him and understand why he is that way. But Ignus would just shove him off, refusing help. Tire of his attitude, King Merlon had no choice but to place a curse upon him. The curse that would only be broken if Ignus learns to let go of his hatred and achieve the kiss of true love.
Cliché I know but it is how it happened.
Regardless, the young wizard prince was turned into a creature to no man of Eurobania has ever seen for a long time. Many say stories that would shun them. Others praising them. As punishment for his behavior, Ignus is turned into a terrifying fire breathing dragon.
The transformation was not pretty mind you. Prior into becoming a dragon, Ignus flew in rage and vandalized anything in his way. The human turned dragon was not seen since then. He is either out there causing trouble or simply shutting himself out from the rest of the world. Or maybe he is staying among the hidden land where our kind of dragons reside in.
How do I know of this? That young once wizard prince turned fire dragon was…me. This is my story on how I eventually learned to have faith once again and found the love of my life…Sisu of Kumandra.
(Somewhere in the enchanted forest East of Soul)
Inside a lone cave in the middle of a mystical looking forest is a large cave by a hill side. Inisde the cave is one best described as a wizard's paradise. The inside of the cave is a wonderland of book shelves, laboratories, gardens, and a training room. However, the occupant is no wizard. In a make shift bedroom is a large reptilian creature laying on a bed made out of haystack reading what looks like a leather book while softly humming, slowly swishing his tail with a blade shaped as a curved sword. He reads the pages with his yellow eyes until he picks up a scent with his nose.
He slams the book closed and slowly he moves out of his bed landing on his fours. Walking into a shine of light, he is revealed to be an angry red dragon with an orange padded underbelly. On his head is a feathered bright orange mane styled as short cut hair with pair of long brown horns sticking from behind. With a threating growl he spread his majestic large leather wings revealing orange membrane with hues of yellow.
"Intruders" the red dragon snarls through his sharp teeth within his snout.
(few minutes earlier)
From the outside of the cave, a group of four male Caucasian looking humans with pale white skin looking at the large cave in front of them. The four men are probably curious peasants coming from a nearby village. They were not the only ones who comes across the cave. Time to time travelers brave enough to venture into the 'enchanting arm forest' to hunt food or simply explore the land. Many who would come across the cave are either never seen again or flee in fear as if they saw a great beast.
"What do you think is in there?" one of the men questions.
"I dunno but I heard stories about a cave in the forest said to house a large beast!" another one said.
"Do you think the beast could be a dragon from the legends?" a third man claim.
The three other men share a hearty laugh.
"You drink too much ale have yah? Everyone knows dragons have not been seen for a long time."
"What else could it be? A Werewolf you think?" The third man guesses further looking nervous.
"Maybe it could a wizard living there who just made the story just to scare commonfoks like us!" The first man scoffs.
"There is only one way to find out," the fourth man declares. All four serf men gaze at the dark cave looking nervous. They all gulp before venturing in staying close together so they won't get lost.
()
The four adventuring peasant men travel downward into the cave until they come across a large Wizard style living room with a nice garden in the center. They all look around amazed. A nice fancy carpet, a simple leather couch, a kitchen area that resembles another laboratory, a small library area with a lot of books and scrolls. Hanging on the walls and sticking out of the ground are blue crystals giving the entire cave network blue light.
"Mother of God! This cave is more like a wizard's house!" one man shouts.
"I am telling you, a wizard lives here," another one claims.
The four men continue to look around room until they hear a booming voice of a twenty-four year old.
"WHO DARE TRESSPASS!"
The four men freeze in fear. They whip their heads around the living room trying to find the source of the voice. The sounds of flapping wings are heard from their north to see a large creature fly out of a tunnel and lands onto the center floor with a stomping sound like an earth quake. All the furniture and painting of the room shake as too the men.
The men look at the creature in fear who begins to glow red around his body keeping his wings spread straight. The creature slowly stands on his hind legs to reveal a dragon in rage getting ready to breath fire.
"GEEEEEEET OOOOUUUUUUUT!" the dragon fumes and blows fire above the ceiling causing the four men to scream and run for their lives as the dragon makes chase along the main entrance tunnel leading out of the cave.
()
Even though the men escaped the cave, they continue to run for their lives through the forest. The dragon continues to chase in rage flying out of his supposed hidden cave.
From the sky, the dragon follows suit to see where men came from. From a distance, he sees that the men came from a nearby village built right by the wall of trees of the forest. It is simply a large cluster of wooden haystack roofed buildings with a farm and windmill. It is populated with a lot of people trying to mind their own business. As the men make their way, the dragon then flies to the village to teach them a lesson for daring to trespass his property.
The four men tries to warn the townsfolk about the dragon. It is too late. The raging dragon starts his rampage burning down the buildings and smashes some of them. The townsfolk all panic with screams like banshees and run around like a bunch of buffoons. A lady or two faints as the dragon continues to lay the village in waste.
()
The Village is laid to waste. No human was seriously hurt though. It was not the dragon's plan. He merely wanted to send a message to any foolish human who dare bother him in a slightest. It was not the only village he roasted. From time to time the dragon would fly out of his hiding spot to act like a jerk tearing down other villages, townships, and especially farms to show how much he despises humans. Humans that he is once. A part of him wants to feel bad. But he is reminded that humans deep down are always unappreciated jerks. That is what he believes.
"The good people pfft," the dragon mocks sounding serious as he continues to hover in the sky flapping his wings staring at the people running out of the village in the outskirts. With a huff, he flies back into the forest where he could return to his cave. It where he could be alone just like he wanted. In peace, he continues to read his book.
Before he goes on to read his book in his sleeping chamber, he sadly looks to the side. He is observing what looks like a portrait of himself as a human and his family, the royal family of Soul. The dragon's name is Ignus. Staring at the painting reminds him why he is cursed. His father would never understand what he went through and why It led him to lose faith in people. But now he is inflicted by a curse which can only be broken if he learns to let go of his hatred and find this true love.
(Spirit)
Spirit, the royal capital of the kingdom of Soul. It is a beautiful majestic city with high class buildings that almost resemble cathedrals. At the center of it all is the grand castle where the king lives. At the main district, hordes of people are crowded at the entrance in anger.
They are mostly peasants and minor lords complain about a dragon who is going around the kingdom causing trouble vandalizing their villages and small towns as well as ruining their livestock. They are currently being blocked by the royal guard wearing armor of plate or chainmail with the blue surcoats containing the kingdom symbol with a star posing like a cross.
(Castle Spirit)
Through the majestic halls of the inside of the castle is King Merlon in his royal bedchambers with décor fit for a high-ranking wizard.
The king himself wears a nice black robe and star patterned cape with trims of blue. He has a fire red hair with some greying that matches his bushy yet trimmed beard. With his blue eyes, he gazes through a window watching the angry mob which are his subjects. He has heart broken expression written on his face. He knows who is causing trouble in the kingdom.
It is his youngest son Ignus. It is like two years ago that he placed a curse on him in order to teach him a lesson about his hateful attitude towards people. What ever happened during his time in the Wizard academy, must have turned the boy from being bright to just plain bitter. The old king suspects Ignus was bullied and wanted to help him. Yet Ignus refuses and continued to cause trouble. He never really wanted to turn him into a dragon or worse, what other choice did he have? From the door, and young man wearing similar robes like Merlon but with some armor and a sword walks in.
He is Prince Bailinor, the elder son. Like Merlon his father, he too have red hair. However, he is heterochromic. One eye blue like his father while the other is yellow inherited from his late mother.
"Father?" Bailinor calls as he slowly approaches.
"Oh! Bailinor. Did not notice you come," The old king responds startled not noticing the concerned look on his son's face.
"they are complaing about dragon attacks again are they?" Bailinor guess crossing his arms.
"I am afraid they are," Merlon answers gazing back at the window.
With an uneasy face, Bailinor takes a deep breath in thought. Like his father, he too have been hearing complaints about a red dragon flying around causing trouble. It is not just Soul. There are also complaints from the other kingdoms that the same dragon is flying around wrecking everything. The other monarchs has been giving angry letters demanding the King of Soul to do something. Bailinor knows why his father has not dealt with Ignus. However, he has been going around the kingdom trying to stop his brother from further destruction without harming him.
"Are you sure you did the right thing? Turning little brother into a dragon?" he questions with a hint of disappointment in his voice towards him.
Merlon only closes his eyes and responds, "He needs to learn the consequences of his actions."
"Don't you think this is going too far father!? I get you want to teach him a lesson but-"
"I tried to getting him to speak but the boy refuses to tell me after all my efforts."
()
While the father and son continue to speak, they do not notice that a black robed lady is staring at them with her dark purple eyes along with a sinister smile on her face.
