Chapter 3 – The Great escape
(Ignus POV)
Claw swipes, fire blasts, and gusts wing becomes a bit of fighting routine for Ignus. Taking out militiamen by the tens as the entire farm is in flames around him.
"ITS NO USE, THIS DRAGON IS JUST UNBEATABLE!" one of the farm's militia men shouts.
"Is that really all you got?," Ignus mocks with a smirk and crosses his arms while hovering in the sky. "Might as well give up and hand over half of you cow stock."
Ignus points to the pen of at least forty cows inside. The Milita farmers did not like what the dragon is demanding. If they give in twenty cows, it would not be enough. But the dragon did not care. All he wants is a big supply of food for himself.
"We will never surrender you vile beast!"
The Militia regain their battle positions with their puny weapons. Ignus only laughed for a bit face palming. It is so funny how foolish those farmers are despite being noting but pests.
"Last chance, just give me half of your cows so now one has to get hurt."
The farmers are still not buying it. They would rather die than risk their live stock to a jerk. With a disappointing sigh, Ignus lands on his hind feet. "Then by all means. Try giving me a real fight. No offense, you guys fight like a bunch of sissies"
The dragon prepares his fire breath until a familiar voice calls out.
"IIIIIIIIIGNUUUUS!"
Both the dragon and the farmers turn their gazes at a hill to see a calvary of mystic knights on their horses running down.
"Brother", Ignus silently hisses as he glares at the one with the cape along with a more regal helmet. He could hear the farmers praising the arrival. The Mystic Knights are more then royal shocktroopers to the king. They are the most elite knights of all the kingdom with the ability to cast offensive magic with a weapon like a warrior. His brother Bailinor is one of them.
Ignus flies up into the sky once again and blows fire to create a wall hoping to stop the Knights' trail. With a cool stunt, the Knight Bailinor uses his horse to jump over the wall of flames unharmed followed by the knights. They do not know how to give up.
Bailinor is seen drawing his sword to ignite it with electircty. He is probably planning to use a non lethal shock spell to paralyze. Like a wand, he flicks it hoping to strike Ignus only for the latter to dodge it and counters with fireball. Bailinor dodges it.
Bailinor then tells the knights to dispearse and escort the survivors and the remaining milita out of the farm so he could deal with the dragon himself. With a nod, the knights disperse and rounded up as much people as they could while the two prince engage in spell slinging combat.
Bailinor fights on horse back flicking his sword like a wand shooting different elements while Ignus uses his fire abilities from the sky.
"WE DON'T HAVE TO DO THIS! PLEASE STOP THIS MADNESS" Bailinor shouts as he continues to use his horse to dodge each fireball.
"WHY SHOULD I!? PEOPLE ARE NOTHING BUT A BUNCH SELF CENTERED A-HOLES ALL OF THEM!" Ignus counters, fuming as he lands back on ground with all his fours.
"You know that is not true! Think of father, our family, your old friends, me, and especially mom!"
Ignus fumes more at the mention of his older brother mentioning their mother. With one big huff he blasts a huge flame thrower at the same time shouting, "LEAVE MOTHER OUT THIS!"
(Bailinor POV)
Before the flame reaches, Bailinor quickly crosses his arms in an X formation creating a magical force field around him and his horse. The field is strong enough to block the flames better than a shield. When the fire dies down, Bailinor refocuses to see that Ignus has disappeared. He looks around the blue sky to see Ignus is flying away. Turns out the intense flames is a distraction.
With frustration growl Bailinor is about to give chase only to hear a scream of a little girl. He pauses to look behind him. He sees a young girl on a balcony of a burning barn crying for someone to save her. The Kinghts are standing around trying to convince her to jump so one of them could catch her. But she is too afraid. The older prince has to make a choice.
Chase the dragon or save the girl. As a Mystic Knight and prince, it is his sworn duty to protect those in need. So he chooses to save the girl. He turns his horse around and sprints to the burning barn. In between the line of knights, Bailinor jumps off his horse and bursts into the barn. He parkours the burning structure all the way up to see the girl about to faint on the balcony now on fire. Without a second thought, He sprints not caring for his own well being but the girl.
The prince scoops up the girl into his arms and jumps in time before the balcony catches on fire which would have harmed the girl. With the plate of his armor, he lands on the grassy ground with his back with the seven year old girl clutching in his arms.
"Your highness! Are you ok?" one of the other knights approaches him. Bailinor's horse is also worried for his master as he gallops turns him. With a few muzzles of his nose to the head, Bailinor begins to lift himself up with lots of cramps.
On his feet, the prince looks at the girl hoping she is ok. She is yet in shock. The girl looks up at the prince and hugs him tightly in tears, grateful for saving her.
"MY BABY!" a woman's voice calls out. Eyes turn to see a peasant woman with brown hair rushing through. Realizing she is the mother, Bailinor gives the girl into her mother's arms. The mother cradles her daughters for a few seconds in tear before looking to the prince thanking him with emotion in her voice, "OH THANK YOU YOUR HIGHNESS! SHE IS ALL I HAVE LEFT AFTER MY HUSBAND DIED FIGHTING BANDITS! How can I ever repay you?"
"I am just doing my sacred duty m'lady. All I want is for you and the others to be safe," Bailinor declares then looks to his knights and demands, "How are the others?"
The knights tell him that they managed to evacuated the rest of the village. With a sigh in relief, the remaining prince looks to the direction where Ignus flew off. A tear comes from his eye and mutters, "Please let go of your anger little brother. We all miss you."
(Ignus POV)
Angry and hungry, Ignus continues to fly in rage. What is worse than not getting food is to fight his own brother. And how dare he mention their mother. He never really meant to try to breathe fire at his brother. He only wanted to drive him off not wanting to harm him either. Got carried away with his emotion due to how close he was to his mother. Ignus remembers in his childhood that his mother was the sweetest thing to ever being part of his life. Perhaps it was her who helped him want to be a wizard before dying of a magic related accident. Just thinking about it brings tears into his eyes.
Even with an empty stomach, all that Ignus wants to do right now is to head back home and hope for some animal to trespass and eat it. He dives into the forest and lands in front of his cave hideout. A strange scent catches his nose. It is not human nor some animal. It is not even an annoying Kobold who like to try to rob him time to time. He slowly walks in being guided by his dragon nose on his snout.
Close to the main chamber, he begins to hear noises. Ingus pauses and listens.
"You think the roque one is going to come back?"
"I believe so, the king is depending on us to catch him".
Roque one? King? Catch..him?" Ignus thinks to himself with a nervous gulp. He carefully walks into the bed chamber hall. By an opening he sees what looks like armored dragons searching around his room. Dragons of all creatures from the legends. If the stories are true, they must be very powerful. Does not matter. The two dragons are still trespassers.
"WHAT YOU WEIRDOS DOING IN MY CAVE!?" he shouts jumping into the chamber getting the attention of the two dragons. They both gasp at the sight of him.
"You! The roque dragon!" one of the two armored fire dragons points a talon at Ignus.
"We were waiting for you to return" the other dragon says.
"For what purpose?" Ignus snarls hoping to intimidate the two drakes. It fails as both of them stood their ground.
"We have come on behalf of King Arthurous Pengonian to collect you to Camalar."
"Camalar? What the heck is that?" Ignus questions making both dragons dumbfounded and exchanges a stoogy look.
"Maker you really are a roque dragon," one of them claims
A part of Ingus actually want to see this Camalar. To the best of his intellect, he assumes it could be some hidden dragon city where the dragons where living for all these years. But why come now? But not like this.
"With all due respect, I am not going anywhere with you bozos!"
"For the sake of our kind you are to come with us by the king's decree!"
Both dragons get into positions ready to prounce.
"Maker what are you two, some kind of dragon police?!" Ignus states as he slowly tries to back away. The two dragons follow at the same time claim that they don't want to harm him. Ignus continues to move backwards hoping to get away from the dragon kidnappers. He looks around hoping to get an idea.
The two dragons prepare their fire breaths. The smoking coming from their nostrils gives Ignus an idea. He looks up to see a crystal chandelier glowing blue. Then he spits a fire ball at the chandelier making it fall.
"LOOK OUT!" one of the dragon guards alerts at the same jump out of the way bumping their heads on the walls. Ignus sprints away as the chandelier falls and shatters at the rocky ground.
Ignus makes it outside and flies out in full speed. The two dragon guards follow suit in pursuit. Ignus would find another hiding spot but he knows they will find him eventually. He needs to think of a plan and fast. As he flies, a human or two with different colored hair stood by cliffs. Each one Ignus flies by, a colored hair human jumps off and morphs into more dragons joining the pursuit. They are the rare shifters.
"For the love of the Maker! Shifters!? Why do some stories about dragons have to mention human shifting," Ignus moans as he continues to fly away as fast as could East ward. Despite his hunger he continues to speed away bellow the green valley of Soul. He is so fast, he does not notice he flies by more villages, cities, and abandoned temples. They even fly by a mountain in the middle of the kingdom.
Eventually Ignus makes it to the coast side of another kingdom, Soar, known for a being heavily forested on the eastern coastside. The people who lives in Soar are a fishing subculture of sailors. The people themselves get surprised when they see a flock of large dragons flying by in rapid speed.
That is when the idea hist Ignus's mind. Maybe he could lose the dragons if he flies away from the continent itself in hopes in finding another with inhabitants who do not know him. The pursuing dragons halt their flight with shocked looks.
"What is the roque doing!?" one of the dragon guards, a female shouts.
"Does he know there is nowhere out there?" another dragon claims believing there are no other world other than Eurobania. Or is there.
"I don't know but we need to head back to Camalar and tell the king and fast!"
With that, the dragons retreat North westward where their hidden home is.
()
It feels like hours since Ignus has left the continent. Yet he continues to fly across the ocean without a care in the world. The only down side is that he is starting to get tired and he needs to land soon. Not to mention he still needs food in his empty belly. He feels very stupid to even consider such a plan. If things could get even worse, a storm is starting to form around him.
Oh no oh no nonononono! He mentally scolds to see that he is in the middle of a hurricane of sorts. The wind has become so strong, he is losing control of his wings. He is being pulled as if he is sucked into a tornado. The poor red dragon spins around and around saying whoa whoa each time before getting slinged off further eastward and lands into the ocean. The storm stops, and the body of Ignus floats out cold continuing east.
(Kumandra)
It has been three years since Druun is defeated for good. A mysterious force of darkness that almost consumed all of Kumandra. If it weren't for the warrior Princess Raya forgiving her now best friend Namaari with the dragon gem, Druun would have won. Now all the kingdoms of Kumandra are in peace.
Things could have been better for a particular Kumandrian dragon who aided Raya herself, Sisu. That silly dragoness just loves to bring smiles with her comedic antics. Right now she is having some tea time with her great friend the now twenty one year old Raya who is wearing her traditional princess of Heart dress. The two girls are just having a simple hangout trying to catch up.
"I gotta say my girl, things sure have been busy for the past three years trying to rebuild Kumadra," Sisu states taking a sip from her cup.
"Tell me about it, I have been working non stop with my father trying to make sure things go smoothly."
After Raya responds, Sisu curiously looks around trying to find someone particuallar.
"if you don't mind me asking, did you not invite Namaari?" She asks.
Raya only chuckles and answers, "I did by letter Sisu but sadly she could not make it becauuuuuse."
Raya puts on a smirk on her face and says, "She finally found some one special and she is dating him!"
Sisu spits out her tea comedically and shouts, "SAY WHAAAATTT! Namarri!? On a date? Can't be? Why would any guy want date a brutal girl like her? No offense to her"
Raya only laughs a little at Sisu reaction. Perhaps when news about the princess of fang dating a son of a powerful general, a lot of people where in disbelief even her. Life is sure filled with surprises.
"I had a similar reaction when she told me. Whoever that guy is, must be a very skilled warrior she boasts. I am very happy for her and wish her the best." Raya toasts for her first friend who could not make it. However Sisu smirks back.
"You know girl, when will you find some guy in your life hmm?"
Raya freezes in place with a blush on her cheeks. That totally caught her off guard. Sadly for her, she never had the time due to trying to re connect with her father and helping with rebuilding. Even if she could, there are no men in Kumandra that interest her so far. Rather then answer the water dragoness's question she barks back. "Actually, I would ask the same about you."
Now Sisu is the one to freeze. She whips her head around the room. Gazing at a window she sees it is nighttime. "Actually Raya, I better get going. Look how late it is!"
With that Sisu flies out of the window leaving a smirking Raya who is proud of herself in dodging the question.
(Sisu POV)
After leaving Raya alone, Sisu finds herself laying on a giant stone structure locted around in the middle of Heart. She is actually looking very lonely. Raya sure hit her very hard with the call back. She tries not to think of it. She tries to make some excueses in her mind that she has her siblings. Yet it does not really fill this strange void in her chest. All that poor Sisu could do is look up at the shining moon and wish for the best.
Little that she knows, a unique looking dragon has drifted to a coast somewhere south west of Heart.
I hope you all enjoy this chapter. Stay tuned
