Frank sat quietly staring at his sister. After the Black Widow left he tried questioning her on the lie she told but she remained silent. In fact she hadn't spoken to him in three days.

"Come on, you can't ignore me forever," he whined as he gripped the bars tight. Vanessa let loose a sigh as she laid back on her bed, not saying one word to him. "Why are you ignoring me. I didn't do anything."

That got a reaction. Vanessa stood up and calmly walked to the bars. Leveling her brother with a look, she spoke for the first time in days. "You plan on turning my child over to a bunch of murderers."

"Okay first, they are our family and second, my orders were to capture Spiderman, but now that the kid is here then yes."

Vanessa scoffed but before she could say anything the lights went dark. Both siblings looked to the ceiling as the back up lights came on. Not a sound was passed between the two as they looked at each other. Seconds later the sound of locks breaking down and cell doors unlocking filled the air. A loud hiss greeted them both causing them to step back, only to have their cell doors slowly slide open.

"Are they letting us go?" Frank asked dumbly.

Vanessa snorted. "If they were they would have came down here themselves."

The moment the words left her lips an alarm filled the air.

"I don't think they were expecting that," Frank shouted over the offending nose. Stepping closer to his door, he peeked his head out. When nothing happened he walked all the way out before looking at his sister.

"Are you coming?"

Vanessa sat on her bed. "No."

"Why not? This may be your only chance at escaping."

Vanessa waved a hand at him. "I don't need to escape. What I am wanting or rather who I'm wanting is in this building. I have nowhere else to be."

"Vanessa be reasonable. Come with me. We can get Peter together and we can leave. Go home."

"No. I'm staying here."

Frank looked at his sister in disbelief. He turned to leave but his sister's voice stopped him.

"Frank."

"What?"

"Be careful."

"Always." He turned to leave but she stopped him once more.

"Oh and Frank, one more thing."

"What?"

"If you harm my son, I will make what mother did to you look like child's play."

Her voice carried a dark tune that sent a shiver down his spine despite the calm demeanor he showed her. Shaking his head, disappeared into the shadows.

Frank listened to the sounds of running feet as he glanced at the door that sat right in front of him. He sticked to the shadows waiting for the right moment. It wasn't hard to figure out which door led to the Avengers and no doubt Peter. You could hear Tony Stark cursing from a mile away. He listed closely as he waited for the right moment to strike, but the words he heard next made him freeze.

"Guys! Peter's gone!"

A string of curse words exited Franks mouth as he backed away slowly, still sticking to the shadows. The door that led to the Avengers opened to a crack. If he didn't leave now, there was a hundred percent chance that he would have gotten caught, and thrown back in the cells. Glancing at the door across the hall, he took his chance and ran. He crashed into the door throwing it open, no doubt making noise that people in South Carolina heard. None of that mattered. His sole focus was on the forest that surrounded the compound. That was his target.

Not glancing back once, he disappeared into the trees, only stopping once to see if he was being followed. When it became clear he wasn't Frank allowed a smile to grace his face. He turned to go deeper into the woods when something cracked against his skull and sweet darkness took over.

"So, I vote for someone to talk to him." Sam voiced as he walked into the room.

"How?"

"Through the door, and I vote it be Bruce."

"Why me?" Bruce piped up.

"He's spoken to you once before, what's to say he won't do it again?"

"He has a point," Steve added. Everyone nodded in agreement before the man stood.

"Alright, I'll give it a try."

Bruce stood and made the journey to the locked door. Meanwhile, back in the living room, the rest of the Avengers looked around at each other before Natasha asked the one question everyone had been avoiding.

"So, what are we going to do if the kid turns out to be that woman's? I mean we can't exactly give him to her."

"True," Sam voiced as he took the vacant seat that Bruce just left.

"Well I guess that would be up to the father," Rhodes announced as he looked at Tony.

Tony frowned at his friend before turning it into a glare. "Why must you insist that I'm the father?"

"I'm just-"

"No, I told you. I don't-"

"Know if you slept with her. Yeah, we know," Natasha groaned. "But honestly, you have been known to get black out drunk on many occasions. So what's to say it didn't happen them?"

All eyes fell on him as the billionaire opened his mouth but Bruce came back before he could say anything. "Well?"

"He didn't answer."

"Poor kid," Steve sighed as he leaned back.

"Yeah. Can you imagine finding out that your-" Sam's words were cut off as the lights in the room shut off. All eyes went to the ceiling.

"Friday, what the heck turn the lights back on," Tony called out but instead of being greeted by the usual voice of his AI, he was greeted with silence. The back up lights came on as all the Avenger looked around at each other.

"Friday?"

No answer.

"Hey girl? Can you hear me?"

No answer.

Clang!

All eyes turned to the windows as the metal shutters (A/N: I don't know what they are called) lifted allowing for the sunlight to enter into the room.

"Did you lift the lock down?" Steve asked as he glanced at Tony.

"No," the former playboy announced as he slapped his chest bringing his armor around him.

Steve opened his mouth to ask another question but the alarm kicked him blasting their eardrums. Pointing to Bruce and Rhodes, the first Avenger shouted above the noise. "Go grab Peter! Break down the door if you have to." The two men nodded as they took off towards the room.

Tony's face plate retracted as he glared at the ceiling. "Friday's offline." he started heading in the direction of the door when Steve spoke up.

"Tony, wait, this could be an attempt at kidnapping Peter. We need to stay together. Strength in numbers."

"Not a chance Capsicle, someone fucked with my girl!"

Steve called out to him but he seemed to be set on a warpath. The kind that if you got in his way, you would surely be slaughtered. Steve looked to Natasha and Sam who nodded and started searching the rooms, before gathering their weapons.

"Tony!"

The man spun around and glared at the captain. "What the fuck do you want?!"

"Hold on a second, we don't know what we're dealing with."

"Yes we do a dead man...or dead woman...you know I don't judge. Either way whoever it is will pay for this shit! How the hell did anyone get into the compound anyway? How would they know where the fuck to go?! I swear I'm going to-"

"Calm down!"

Natasha came back and handed Steve his shield just as Tony grabbed the door and started to open it. Before he could leave Bruce and Rhodes came back. Rhodes' words stopped all of them in their tracks.

"Guys! Peter's gone!"

All eyes turned towards the two Avengers before every last one of them stampede towards the room. Buck was the first one in as he looked around. The entire room looked like it hadn't been used in a while with the exception of the overwhelming smell of bleach that was coming from the bathroom. Sam walked into the aroma before walking back out.

"Now can we go?" Tony yelled over the alarm. All the avengers nodded as they one by one followed Tony to a room. When they entered all they saw were cords laying on the ground as if they served no purpose. Walking over he plugged on back in which silented the alarm and allowed for the shutdown features to go back in place.

"Somebody violated my poor girl."

After confirming there was no threat, Tony lifted the lockdown and stayed behind to assure that Friday was okay, but they quickly discovered the intruder came through the vents.

The rest of the Avengers went back to Peter's room where they all stood staring at the dresser that sat under the vent.

"That's probably how they got Peter," Steve voiced.

"Why does the dishes in bleach?" Bucky asked.

"There is no reason. I mean the only reason to do that would be to destroy any DNA that was on there," Rhodes admitted.

"Who would do that?"

Everyone was silent as they looked around the room once more. Sam scratched his head "Peter, maybe?"

"But why?"

Sam shrugged. "Not a clue."

Bruce shook his head as he stared at the pile of bleach soaked dishes. "Well there goes our chances of getting a DNA sample."

"Not exactly," Bucky announced as he looked down.

All eyes followed his to a lone spoon that sat forgotten under the bed. Grabbing the tissue that was handed to him, Bucky bent down and picked it up. "We might be able to get something off of this."

Bruce stepped forward and took the item from him. "I'll go and run what I can from this." With that he disappeared.

Vanessa sat waiting for her captors to come and check on her. The lights came back on and the doors had long since closed leaving her alone. The sound of a door opening captured her attention. Long strands of red hair greeted her before a furious looking face.

"Where is he?"

Vanessa shrugged. "I don't know. I've been here."

Natasha glared at the woman dangerously and Vanessa stared right back at her. "Where did he go?"

"He mentioned going home, I would check there."

Natasha remained silent. "You could have gone with him, but you didn't."

"I have no reason to."

"Meaning?"

"Well, I knew he was going to try and take Peter but something told me that he wasn't going to get very far. I mean it only makes sense that he would be surrounded by the Avengers. You'll have to forgive my brother though. He's not the brightest tool in the shed."

Natasha turned on her heel and started to leave, but Vanessa called out to her. "I'm going to assume that my son is safe."

The black widow turned to her with an unreadable expression. "He's fine."

"Can I see him?"

"No."

Frustration burned through Vanessa like a freight train. "What more do you want? I have answered your questions, provided you with a DNA sample and I didn't even escape when I could have. It's only curtiusy to allow me some privileges."

"We'll see."

"He's my son, you can't keep him from me!"

"We are protecting him."

"I'm his mother, I wouldn't harm him!"

"I'm glad to hear that," Natasha said as she turned and started towards the door. That's when realization seemed to come upon Vanessa.

"You haven't tested the DNA yet, have you?"

Natasha froze before turning around. "What makes you say that?"

"When I said he's my son, you never confirmed. Which leaves me to believe you haven't tested the DNA yet." Natasha's silence seemed to be enough confirmation for Vanessa. "What are you waiting for?" Before Natasha could answer, Vanessa answered her own question.

"You don't have Peter's DNA. Do you? I gave you mine and it would be easy to get the guys, but Peter, you don't have his. Why not? You could easily get it...unless…"

Color drained from the woman's face. "...unless you can't get it. Peter's not with you is he?"

Natasha watched the woman's face closely as she delivered the news. "No he's not. It appears he was taken."

Natasha watched as raw fear clawed at Vanessa's face despite her trying to hold it together. It was as if she was watching a mother lose her child. Despite all her training, Natasha allowed words to flow from her mouth. "You do bring up a good point though. You should be allowed some privileges. So, when we can confirm that he is your son with a DNA test, we will see about about allowing you to see him."

Vanessa looked at the stone cold woman before nodding her head, but she stopped when Natasha spoke the next words. "Of course, we will have to leave that up to his father."

"His father?"

"Yes, we are testing Anthony Stark, Steve Rogers, and Bucky Barnes to see who the father of Peter is. Once we can confirm who that is we will leave that decision up to them."

Natasha watched as Vanessa nodded, allowing the words to wash over her. Then she pulled a face that one would only suspect as confusion. "Why are you testing Tony Stark?"

"You two spent quite a lot of time together fifteen years ago give or take, which fits the time frame of when you would have gotten pregnant."

"Yeah, I mean of course. We hung out but it was never, never anything sexual."

"Excuse me?" Natasha said as she held a straight face but her brain captured the realization.

"You guys really know nothing," Vanessa scoffed.

"What does that mean?"

"Tony is not Peter's father. In fact I never slept with Tony Stark a day in my life."

A/N: Well, I'll be damned.
