Chapter 3

"Mowglii… Tobaqui… no." Akili cried as the naked girl wrapped her arms around her legs, sitting at the edge of the cliff. "Got to… got to get to the bottom of the waterfall and save them!"

Washing away her tears, Akili stood up and began her journey down to the river as the tigers of the Shere and elephants of the Payari continued the bloodbath while Bomani tried to fight Dewan, who constantly dodged the tiger-boy by jumping around.

"The tigers and elephants are tearing themselves apart!" the naked dirty-blonde girl told herself. "Got to find someone! Got do to something! Got to…"

She didn't manage to finish her sentence as suddenly an elephant knocked her out with his blood spilled tusks after using them to impale them into a tiger. The last thing she saw was a pouncing elephant before losing consciousness.

"You have a beautiful pack, Won Tolla." Grey Brother told his mate, smiling as they looked at their pups with love as they play and chase butterflies.

"We have a beautiful pack, Grey Brother." Won Tolla answered, lying down beside her cubs.

"These pups are the most precious things on this island." Bagheera complimented as she licked her paw. "They are the key to the survival of the wolf tribe. Soon they will be great warriors carrying in their thick coats and sharp teeth a proud legacy of nobility and strength."

"The wolves are lucky to have an ally like you, Bagheera." Grey Brother told the she-panther as he left the cubs with their mother.

"I cannot protect these cubs forever. Soon they must learn to fend for themselves." Bagheera responded.

"They certainly cannot depend on Mowglii for protection." Baloo groaned as the cubs began climbing onto the sloth bear's back, annoying the exhausted bear.

"But you have trained Mowglii to be one of the finest fighters, Baloo." Grey Brother told the bear, baffled from grumpy his response, as Baloo tried to get the wolf pups off him.

"The bear had his feelings hurt. The child poked a wound that was made long ago, yet never healed." Bagheera explained to the wolf.

"No child has no idea what it is being the last of one's kind." Baloo grumbled to her.

"Not true." Bagheera argued as she moved to a tree branch. "This tribe is made up of those left orphaned by this ongoing battle of the beasts. We all have our stories; Baloo and they all bear a weight."

Their conversation, however, was interrupted when a loud noise thundered through the jungle. All the wolves along with the bear and panther rose up, their eyes wide with fear and alert.

"That is the sound of battle!" Grey Brother commented just when vicious roars were heard.

"The Shere!" Baloo exclaimed at the roars, which were followed by trumpets.

"The Payari!" Bagheera yelled in shock and suddenly something hit her and Baloo when they both cried out the same name together.

"Mowglii!"

Gasping, Won Tolla turned to her mate.

"Go, Grey Brother. Find Mowglii! But return and run safely. These cubs depend on you." Won Tolla told the Grey Brother. Sighing, Grey Brother approached and nuzzled his mate before leaving off with the bear and the panther.

"By the light of the next sun, I will see you." The male wolf told his family, licking and nuzzling each of the pups.

As Dewan dodges him once again, Bomani was getting beyond his breaking point. Panting angrily, the naked tiger boy looked at the naked monkey boy with extreme anger and irritation, the desire for killing him increasing. Especially when Dewan made mocking sounds of an ape.

"Simple creature, you dare laugh at me?!" Bomani yelled at the auburn-haired boy who yelled something which sounded like 'little tiger'. "You dare to laugh at the rightful heir of the jungle!"

Snarling, Bomani tried to attack once again, but the quick Dewan dodged him again. Not giving up, Bomani began pursuing him throughout the jungle, ignoring the battle his clan was fighting. The chase went on and on deep into the jungle, away from the fight. It didn't take long for both the tigers and even the elephants to notice the boy's absence.

"Where is your leader, Kutil?" Radha, the chief of the elephants, trumpeted at his tiger opponent, trying to stomp him with his feet despite his injuries. "This human son of Shere Khan? I wish to run the length of my tusk through him!"

"The failed tiger proves every day that he is unworthy of the mantle of leadership." Kutil answered, two scars at his right hair. "But that is of little concern to you, for the thunderous heft of Radha Payari falls today!"

With that, Kutil leapt at the proud elephant and began killing him viciously despite Radha's resistance. After what seemed like an hour, Radha lost all strength to fight and succumbed to his injuries as Shere Kutil made the final blow. Spitting at the elephant's corpse, Kutil looked around as the elephants began losing morale with their leader now dead. Seeing that they were losing the battle, the remaining members of the Payari left.

"Look at this." Kutil sneered. "Unorganized. Sloppy. And our leader off playing with monkeys. Shameful. Tooth and claw have cut deep today, the tigers of the Shere."

"Regroup and reform!" Kutil ordered the tigers. "In spite of our leader's absence, the Payari will forever remember this day! Leave these beasts to never forget that even without a leader, the Shere are the true kings of this isle!"

With that, the tigers left just as Grey Brother, Baloo and Bagheera appeared. They were shocked and devastated to see the river filled with blood and bloodied corpses of both tiger and elephant as vultures lunged at them.

"Oh my, oh my." Grey Brother muttered.

"It's a massacre…" Baloo added as the remaining elephants gathered up together from a long and bloody battle.
