I don't own this song, or the characters. A/N Where it says bar, replace with diner!
It was around nine in the morning, and a very busy day in the diner, and Cearsar thought 'hey, I will work extra slow today.' Anyway, I was serving Taylor Doose, this anoying man, who is very picky, so I'm trying to pay attention to I didn't mess up, if I messed up, I would have to listen to him complain. So I was writing down his order, when this woman sweeped in, asking for coffee.
This woman, was also very annoying, but intriging at the same time, she was so beautiful, but she kept asking for coffee, and bugging me. I couldn't get Taylor's order right, so I had to listen to him all day after.
So later that night when I was listening to some music that woman showed up again...
The bar was empty
I was sweeping up the floor
That's when she walked in
I said, "I'm sorry but we're closed"
And she said "I know,
But I'm afraid I left my purse"
I said, "I put one back behind the bar
I bet it's probably yours"
And the next thing that I knew
There we were, lost in conversation
And before I handed her her purse
I said, "You'll only get this back on one condition"
I was so caught up in the moment, I asked he to dance, I don't know what got to me, I never did anything like this, ask strangers to dance, but with her I couldn't help it, I was so lost in her deep blue eyes...
And we danced
Out there on that empty hardwood floor
The chairs up and the lights turned way down low
The music played, we held each other close
And we danced
I couldn't believe this woman wanted me, I asked her to dinner, and she accepted...
And from that moment
There was never any doubt
I had found the one
That I had always dreamed about
And then one evenin'
When she stopped by after work
I pulled a diamond ring out of the pocket of my shirt
And as her eyes filled up with tears
She said, "This is the last thing I expected"
And then she took me by the hand
And said, "I'll only marry you on one condition"
And we danced
Out there on that empty hardwood floor
The chairs up and the lights turned way down low
The music played, we held each other close
And we danced
Like no one else had ever danced before
I can't explain what happened on that floor
But the music played
We held each other close
And we danced
Yeah, we danced
Five months later, I was saying I do, and we were Mr. and Mrs. Luke and Lorelai Danes, and we danced every anninversy, right on that diner's old hardwood floor.
