Chapter 30: Not out of the Woods Yet.
Violet eyes flickered open as the rays of the sun graced her face. On any other day she would have been happy to get up and face the world. Right about now she wasn't even concerned about her own problems. She was worried about the condition of her new found friends. These people were so nice to her. They had given her a new life a new home, friends, and more love than you could expect from any other stranger. But now they weren't strangers anymore. They were her family. Never had she once felt like this. Before she was married to Michael, there was always love in abundance for her. When he died she thought she would never feel that way again.
But then along came AVALANCHE. They grieved with her for her fallen husband and they made everything better. Now she would return the favor and grieve with them also. She decided to get up out of bed, and get things going. She put on a lavender and pink Enyce midriff top she got from Tifa. She put on black low rider jeans and put her hair in a ponytail. She then put on lavender stilettos and proceeded to the bathroom. She brushed her teeth and washed her face. She applied light make up and lip gloss then headed downstairs. When she got to the kitchen the whole team was assembled except for Cloud and Tifa. Everyone looked up and smiled when they saw her. She sat down and winced a little from her still sore ribs.
"Good morning everyone", Mariah said politely.
She looked around and received nods and smiles from everyone.
"We were waiting for you to join us. Vincent said. This concerns you as much as everyone else here"
Mariah nodded her head and she felt even more in-place.
Vincent stood up and when he received everyone's attention he cleared his throat.
"Last night we landed outside of Cosmo Canyon and I took the Liberty of bringing Teef into the hospital myself. The team nodded and he went on. The doctors told me that she received four bullet-shots and one of the bullets pierced her right lung. One doctor said that she lost about 4 gallons of blood and if I had brought her in two seconds after she would have surely died."
Yuffie's eyes brimmed with tears and she fought to remain calm.
"Bu...Bu...But she i…is…is alright….right?" she struggled to say.
Vincent just sighed deeply and shook his head.
"Her lung being pierced is the least of our problems he admitted. The doctors said that the lung could be repaired by minor surgery" he was about to continue went Barret cut in.
"SO WHAT THE HELL IS THE PROBLEM!" he couldn't take it any more. Tifa was like a daughter to him and he needed to know what was going down.
Vincent ignored him and continued.
"They said that she needed a blood transfer. BUT! Before any of you jump up and show me your veins that's where the problem lies. Tifa's blood is different. As we all know there are four different types of blood. A, B, AB, and O. Tifa has an advanced case of blood AB. The doctors have no name for it so they are calling it O+ right now. They pulled up all of our files and realized that we all have either A or B. My blood type is unknown and so is Aeris. Cloud's blood is O and that is all that can be used to have a successful transplant. After I told them about the recent happenings of the day they said that taking blood from Cloud would more than likely kill him so that was totally out of the question. Since my type is unknown I would gladly give it to her but I would not want to risk Tifa's life by having her tainted with Hojo's madness."
At that time hope seemed lost. Cid sprung up.
"What about you Mariah. I know you new but would you help us out. Please...Please...Please."
But that light was quickly snuffed out, when she replied.
"Guys I would gladly help Tifa out…but I have blood type B." and then all was silent.
"So she is gonna die" and new voice interrupted.
Everyone turned around to see a dish shelved Cloud walk into the kitchen stumbling and almost falling. Cid immediately got up and let him sit down. He had been listening for a while and he had heard enough. Tears were streaming from his red bloodshot eyes and he was a total mess. He looked up at Vincent and Vincent had to look away. He couldn't bear to see his leader this way.
There was a thick silence in the kitchen and everyone was on edge. It was too much for Cloud to handle.
"Well DAMMIT CAN I AT LEAST SEE HER!" he yelled at no one in particular.
Aeris stood up.
"Well at least go clean your self up. Your lookin' a hot mess right about now."
She picked him up by his arms and dragged him away to the bathroom.
When they arrived she pushed him inside and closed the door but not before telling him to make sure he looked decent before coming back downstairs.
In the mean while she decided to go downstairs and see what they rest of the team was planning. Something had to be done. She had a feeling what SHE had to do but for now she would keep it to herself.
In the bathroom Cloud stood there and looked at himself in the mirror. He looked disgusting. His hair was unusually unruly, his beard was now clearly visible, his eyes were red, and his skin looked pale. At least she is alive he thought. This brought a bitter sweet feeling. She was alive but yet she couldn't hear, feel, smell, touch, or do anything else that a functioning human could. What he would give to have her by his side and smell her scent. He peeled of his wife beater and took off his shorts and boxers. He turned the hot water on and let it run for a couple of minutes. He then turned the cold on so he wouldn't burn himself and stepped in. He let the refreshingly hot water burn away all his current worries. As the water trickled down his back like a waterfall he couldn't help but remember the last time he and her were together…alone. He had to fight back the tears as they threatened to fall. As he exited memory lane he decided to try his best and make it trough the day until he saw here again.
Thirty minutes later Cloud returned to the kitchen. His outward appearance seemed like all was well, but there was a forlorn look in his eyes and the pain of loss was also clearly visible. He was wearing a blue and black Evisu armless tee and black Seven jeans along with black and blue Pradas. Everyone had seemed to be waiting on him for as soon as he stepped in they were ready to go, weapons in hand and everything. Cloud picked up the massive Ultima Weapon and strapped it to his back. If Tifa was dead he thought that he might use the massive sword on himself. As they exited the Highwind Cid told the co-pilots to watch his baby and that he would call to check up on them. It took the team about ten minutes to reach Cosmo Canyon.
When the team arrived at the front gate they wasted no time and proceeded right to the hospital. Cloud walked in first and when he saw all the nurses and doctors walking around in white, his heart sank. He felt like he had failed Tifa and allowed this to happen. He proceeded to the front desk and the receptionist looked up at him.
"How may I help you?" she asked
Cloud swallowed to loosen his throat and spoke up. " Yes, I am looking for Tifa Lockhart's room".
The receptionist turned to her computer and typed in the necessary information and looked up at him.
"I don't see a room for a Ms. Lockhart, but there is one for Tifa Strife. Cloud's eyes brimmed with tears and he nodded his head. She's in room 1B, straight down that hall and take a left".
Cloud gave a slight nod and turned down the hall. As he walked he realized that his were the only footsteps that he heard. He turned around and realized that the team had let him walk alone. As he looked behind him he saw Aeris wave her hand and turn back to go into the waiting room. He turned and continued down his path to the hospital room that held his queen.
As he walked he couldn't help but think about the kind of condition she was in. He couldn't help but think that he was responsible for what happened to her. It seemed like the whole world was weighing down on his already stressed heart and he wouldn't be surprised if he started to feel pain in his left hand, indicating that a heart attack was occurring. He finally reached the designated bedroom and stood outside for a minute. Whether he had noticed it before but tears were streaming down his face and he had to wipe them away. When he felt he was strong enough to walk into the bedroom he pushed the door and walked into the quiet room.
There she was, on the verge of dying but still managing to look as beautiful as ever. He walked over to a wall and laid his Ultima weapon down as gently as possible. He then took up a chair and sat at her side. She was hooked up to about a million different machines and she looked like she was already gone. But he still saw the gentle, ever so gentle rise and fall of her chest indicating that she was still breathing. Hope.
"Although you are on this bed and you might be dying, I'm still here." He said
He gently reached out and caressed her pale face. He saw her stir a little and he smiled through his tears.
Iight guys I just finished this chapter like after 3 yers, lol. My bad im dun dow.
