Hatori Sohma sat down in the park, a tear running down his cheek. How could Akito be so cruel? It happened over two years ago, but the memory of erasing the love he shared with Kana was still as deep and fresh as the day it happened. There were always days like this that Hatori would break down. However he never cried in front of the other zodiac members or Tohru because it would only burden them. So he had to be strong for them and be the doctor he had studied to be.
Tohru Honda was worried about Hatori because he was supposed to be back about an hour ago to treat Kyo's wound. She knew by some hunch that Hatori would be in the park so off she went to find him. She saw him on an old bench and could hear his quiet sobs. She had never heard him cry before so she went over to see if he was okay.
"Hatori-san, are you okay?" Tohru asked softly.
Hatori looked up and forced a straight face.
"Yes Tohru-kun," he said. "I'm fine."
"You were crying," Tohru said. "You're sad, aren't you."
"No," Hatori lied. "I just-"
"It's okay to be sad," Tohru said, smiling. "When Mom died I was very sad. It still hurts. But just remember the good memories and you'll feel better."
"I was thinking about Kana," Hatori said to himself. "I guess we both lost someone."
"You didn't lose Kana," Tohru said. "Cuz as long as you feel for her and as long as you remember all the time you shared with her, it'll be as if she never left. Sometimes the ones you care about go away, but it makes you care about them more and makes the things you've learned from them more meaningful."
"You're a good kid Tohru," Hatori said, a single tear running down his cheek. "How did you get so strong."
"I'm not strong," Tohru said quietly. "I've just got alot of people who care for me. That helps me go on when things get rough."
"Maybe," Hatori said, looking thoughtfully at the starry sky. "But I don't really have that..."
"Yes you do!" Tohru said excitedly. "You have Kana in spirit, the Sohma's, and me. I wouldn't have come here if I didn't wanna help you, Hatori-san!"
"You're right."
Day by day, the seasons change.
When the snow melts, it becomes spring.
When two hearts connect, distance never separates.
The love felt in those heart is ever lasting.
A never ending cycle is created.
Those who lose love, lose every thing.
But in gaining a true friend, love is never lost.
It has been inside, all along.
Waiting for someone to open the door to your heart.
