It has been three years since Hiccup and Toothless escaped from Berk and met Rapunzel and found a new home in Corona.
A lot of things have changed since their arrival, and Corona became the first kingdom to live in piece with dragons and the only place to have a Dragon Training Academy.
Of course, Hiccup was in charge of it and he had to teach everyone how to train and ride their dragons.
But who was in charge when Hiccup and Toothless were not around? That would be the second best rider, Rapunzel and her Deathsong Serenity.
Hiccup trusted her with everything and teaching people how to safely train dragons.
Hiccup's life couldn't be better. It was obvious that he and Toothless sometimes went on dangerous missions, like when the two of them went to Berk at night to free the captured dragons before fighting the Red Death and almost dying. But all of that combined was more scarier than his current problem; asking Rapunzel to marry him.
After giving it much thought, he was ready to finally go to the next stage of their relationship. Getting her parent's permission was easy enough, considering he's the one who brought her home to them. But asking Rapunzel herself was a whole different story, considering they were constantly sidetracked with people having some trouble with the occasional problem with the kingdom and the dragons.
He and Rapunzel were as of now spending some alone time watching the sunset in the distance like they'd usually do with their dragons resting behind them. This had become their favorite part of any day because no matter how busy they were, they would always find their way here for this.
"We've seen this a dozen times and yet it's always beautiful." Rapunzel says as she rests her head on Hiccup's shoulder.
"Yes, it truly is." Hiccup agrees. "But not as beautiful as you." He states while kissing the top of her head.
"Smooth talker." Rapunzel jokes as she uses her hand to have Hiccup face her and pecks him on the lips. "What's on your mind?"
"What makes you think that I have something on my mind?" Hiccup asks, trying to hide his nervousness.
"Hiccup, I've been by your side for the past three years, I know you almost better than you know yourself." Rapunzel told him as Toothless perked up in sensing something is wrong.
"Okay, there is something..." Hiccup says as Toothless sniffed the ground and followed the scent onto the beach until he came across an unconscious woman on a plank. "I've been trying to ask you something for a while now, and I'm just going to-"
Toothless raced over and interrupted the two of them as he smacked into Hiccup.
"Toothless, what's wrong?" Hiccup asks as Toothless tried to drag him towards the beach where they see the unconscious woman.
"Oh my god." Rapunzel whispers as she and Hiccup run over to the unconscious girl and make sure she's alive.
Rapunzel checks for a pulse and she's okay. "I think she's just resting."
"She must've washed up here by accident." Hiccup guesses as he moves the girl's hair out of her face and is shocked to see a familiar face.
"Heather?" Hiccup is shocked to see the daughter of Oswald the Agreeable and sister of Dagur the Deranged.
They brought her to the palace so she could continue to rest.
"Do you know her?" Rapunzel asks Hiccup.
"She was one of the only nice people I've met in my life back on Berk." Hiccup says as they leave Heather to rest in the guest room. "Her father is a understanding man, her brother however was, to be nice, crazy."
"What do we do now? If she remembers you, she might go back and tell everyone where you are." Rapunzel says, getting scared for what'll happen as Hiccup tried to assure her.
"Heather wouldn't do that." Hiccup promises her as Heather began to wake up as Toothless approached her and began to sniff.
Heather opened her eyes and looked at the dragon and just saw its green eyes staring at her. She had never felt more scared in her life as she let out a scream and fell off the bed and backed away as Toothless just approached her in curiosity.
Hiccup and Rapunzel stopped talking as they saw her scream and they raced over to the two.
"Toothless, back away. You're scaring her." Hiccup tells him as the dragon backs away and Hiccup turned to Heather. "Sorry, he's just curious."
Heather begins to calm down as she notices the man and is shocked to see who is standing in front of her. "Hiccup?"
"Oh, you remember me?" Hiccup asks as he helps Heather back up.
"Of course I remember you, it's just...you're alive!" Heather says with a smile on her face. "Everyone in the Archipelago knows that you disappeared a few years ago after you were banished. Some believe you've died, but considering you're standing right here, I guess they were wrong."
Hiccup is happy to at least hear that "Good. Let them think that," said Hiccup, coldly, taking Heather by surprise.
"What do you mean by that? Your father-" started Heather, but Hiccup interrupted her with the truth.
"My father was the one to banish me." Hiccup stated, surprising Heather by the news. "Come on, let's get you something to eat." He changes the subject and leads her to the kitchen of the palace just in time they were sitting down for dinner.
"So how did you end up on our beaches, Heather?" King Fredric asks the girl during dinner.
"My family and I were visiting Berk for the peace treaty and were on our way back home when we were caught in a storm and I fell overboard." Heather tells them how she ended up there.
"Well, when you're rested and ready we can have a boat ready to bring you home whenever you're ready." Queen Ariana assures her.
"Thank you." Heather says before looking to Hiccup. "Can I ask you something? How did you become friends with Toothless?"
Hiccup sighed and told her his entire story. How he met Toothless, how he succeeded in dragon training, why he was banished, meeting Rapunzel, everything.
Heather just stood there, listening. She couldn't imagine how hard must've been for Hiccup. After Hiccup finished his story, he chuckled, confusing Heather.
"What's so funny?" Heather asked.
"You must've been really paying so much attention to my story that you didn't notice the Razorwhip standing right next to you." Hiccup said, gesturing to the said dragon that was one of the many non-rider dragons that wandered around the castle.
Heather turned around and saw the Razorwhip staring at her calmly, but she once again panicked and jumped out of her seat and bumped into Hiccup who chuckled at her reaction as not many people react like that anymore.
"Is it going to eat me?" Heather asked in fear.
"If she wanted, she would've done it earlier." Hiccup said with a smile as an idea came to his mind as he took Heather's hand and slowly walked towards the Razorwhip.
"Wait, what are you doing?," asked Heather, scared as to what he was planning.
"Just trust me. This is how Toothless and I became best friends." Hiccup assured her as the two stopped right in front of the dragon. "Extend your hand and close your eyes. Stay calm."
Heather wasn't sure if this could work, but still followed Hiccup's instructions. She slowly extended her hand and closed her eyes.
A few seconds later, she felt something touching her opened palm. She opened her eyes, and gasped. The Razorwhip had pressed her snout against her palm.
"Congratulations, the two of you have bonded." Hiccup said happily.
Heather couldn't believe that she just bonded with a dragon! She looked at the Razorwhip, who was calm and didn't appear aggressive and ferocious at all.
"You're not that scary." Heather said softly as she smiled and petted the dragon.
"So, what are you going to name her?" Rapunzel asked.
"I'll call her Windshear." Heather said with a bright smile.
It was a week later as Heather was a fast learner and was able to learn how to ride Windshear and the normal knowledge she needs to care for her dragon very quickly and was ready to head back home with her new friend.
"Well, now I know where to find you, I'll be visiting as often as I can." Heather promises him.
"I'd be okay with that. I actually miss seeing you." Hiccup admits to her as the two hug.
"See you around. And don't worry, I'll keep it a secret from the others." Heather promises as she gets on her dragon and takes off into the sky.
"Must've been nice to see her again." Rapunzel says as she approaches Hiccup and they watch as Heather vanishes into the sky.
"Yeah. But...not as good as I'm going to feel after I ask this." Hiccup says as he finally works up the courage and gets down on one knee and takes Rapunzel's hand, shocking her as she could easily tell where this is going. "Rapunzel, we've been through so much together and we've always been there for together. And you've been there for me as much as I've been there for you...'Punzel, will you marry me?"
Rapunzel looks like she's about to pass out as she gets herself together and squeals loud enough to wake Pascal and Toothless.
"Yes! Yes! Of course I will!" Rapunzel cheers as Hiccup places the ring on her hand and the two pull the other in for a passionate kiss.
