Chapter 7
The Soul Stealer
Godzilla chuckled to himself as he and Anguirus walked through the heart of the jungle. "Well, we've been all over this place and we haven't seen anything scary. What do you say now, little buddy?"
"I guess you're right Goji. I was a fool to think we'd see anything dangerous."
"I wouldn't say that," said a figure stepping out of the shadows.
Godzilla growled. "SpaceGodzilla!" Anguirus started looking for an escape route, but saw Hedorah and Destoroyah coming into view. Any exits were blocked. They were trapped.
"Surprised to see me, brother?"
"Hey," said Destoroyah with a shaky voice. "Let's cut out the small talk for today. Kill him! I wanna go home!"
"Whoa," gasped Anguirus. "Destoroyah's actually scared!"
"Am not!"
"Yeah you are," teased Hedorah.
"Well, who wouldn't be," griped Destoroyah. "We just got chased by a ghost. I thought we'd never lose it!"
"Wait," said Godzilla. "You mean there's actually ghosts here?"
"And you'll soon be one of them," said SpaceGodzilla. "Prepare to haunt this jungle for all eternity."
"Wait," said Destoroyah. "Maybe that's not such a good idea after all. Let's kill him sometime when we're not actually in this place."
"Shut up," yelled SpaceGodzilla, as he approached Godzilla. "I wanna enjoy this."
Godzilla's eyes suddenly widened in fear, and he began to back up. "Uh...maybe he has a point, SpaceGodzilla. Let's do this another time."
SpaceGodzilla grinned. "Getting scared huh?"
Anguirus was backing up as well. "You'd be scared too if you could see what's approaching behind you."
SpaceGodzilla stopped his approach and howled with laughter. "That's rich! You expect me to fall for that?"
"Uh, SpaceGodzilla," said Hedorah, now backing up as well. "They're telling the truth."
"What?" SpaceGodzilla turned around, and his heart instantly sunk as he stared in horror at the sight before him.
The mighty roar of the terrifying monster known as Bagan filled the entire jungle as he approached the intruders. This roar was followed by a loud boom. Everyone looked and saw that Destoroyah had lost consciousness.
Bagan sneered and growled, saliva oozing from his mouth that bared massive fangs. Anguirus hid behind Godzilla. "Who is that?"
"It's Bagan," answered SpaceGodzilla, backing away. "The mythical monster of legend. It's said he's survived for centuries by eating the souls of other monsters."
Bagan took a thunderous step forward and shouted to them. "Who dares enter my jungle unannounced!?"
"Uh," said Hedorah. "We do?"
Bagan looked around at the sight before him. Four terrified monsters shaking in fear, and one passed out. "I'm feeling generous," he said. "I'll let most of you go this time. But I will still make an example of the one responsible for this intrusion. Who's idea was it to invade my territory?"
SpaceGodzilla stepped forward, and pointed to Godzilla. "My brother's! He brought us here!" Before anyone could say anything else, SpaceGodzilla was covered in crystals, and he took off into the sky. "I'm outta here!"
Hedorah quickly turned into his flying form, and flew away, picking up the unconscious Destoroyah as he went. "Bye bye suckers!"
Bagan was walking towards Godzilla, who was pushing Anguirus away. "Go Angy! Save yourself! I brought you here, so I'll accept the consequence!"
"No Goji," said Anguirus, stepping in between the two Kaiju. "I won't let you face this alone."
Bagan cracked up laughing. "I'll make you regret that choice, little monster!"
Anguirus turned around. "Regret this, big monster!" He launched himself backward, slamming his spikey shell into Bagan's face. He landed, and turned to face Bagan, expecting to be slaughtered. But instead, he say Bagan shaking, and then, to the surprise of the two friends, Bagan began to sob.
"What did you do that for!? I wasn't gonna hurt ya! I was just trying to scare ya!"
"Wait," said Godzilla, joining Anguirus. "You're really a wuss?"
"Well," said Bagan, still crying. "I don't have any powers to back up my bulk. A monster who can't fight hasn't got a chance to survive in this world. So I have to rely on scaring other monsters so I can live in this jungle in peace with my ghostly friends."
The area was now filled with ghosts, who'd come to comfort their master. Godzilla looked around at them, and then back at Bagan, and said, "BOO!"
Bagan and the ghosts all jumped in terror. Godzilla laughed. "Ok, I'll never call Minya a coward again. Come on Angy." He turned to go.
Anguirus waved. "Bye Bagan." Then he followed his pal.
Godzilla and Anguirus stepped out of the jungle, and back into familiar territory. Godzilla smiled. "Well, I don't think my brother will be bothering us for a while after that."
"I feel kind of sorry for Bagan," said Anguirus. "Do you think he'll ever come to this part of the island?"
"Him," asked Godzilla with a laugh. "I doubt it little buddy. Why would he leave the one place where he feels safe? Although, that much fear can drive anyone insane. This incident might have pushed him over the edge."
"You mean he could become dangerous," asked Anguirus.
Godzilla looked back toward the jungle. "Let's just say, I wouldn't wanna be the next monster to go in there and face him."
Ghidorah shook with anger. He'd been pacing out of impatience for the past hour. He hadn't even noticed Zilla wake up and sneak away. "Where in the world could those two idiots be!? They should have been back long ago!"
"I don't suppose I could talk you into becoming a vegetarian," asked Gigan, as he and Megalon sat tied up in a large pot of boiling water.
Bagan laughed. "SILENCE! You dared to intrude in my jungle! And now, you two shall become my dinner!"
Megalon tried not to cry. "Aren't you at least going to have an appetizer?"
"Of course," said Bagan. "See all those fish?" There was a massive pile of fish nearby.
"Wow," said Megalon. "That's a lot of fish!" He then cracked up laughing, much to Gigan's annoyance. "Hey, at least we can still laugh, right Gigan?"
Gigan looked at Bagan. "Do me a favor, and kill me now, please."
