Lucy slides in from the darkness, "We're back. It's too late for you."
Grave New World
Clyde was in Lincoln's room, having a hard time processing the information he was just given, "So let me get this straight: You lost your soul in a rigged bet with the Grim Reaper so Lucy made her own rigged bet to get it back and now the Reaper is living in your attic?"
Lincoln nodded, "Yup, that sums up the first chapter."
Clyde laughed a bit, "Is that the punchline? Is this a story you're writing?"
Lincoln shook his head, "No, it really happened!"
Clyde stopped laughing, his eyes opening wide with concern, "I know that one can get lost in their fantasies Lincoln, believe me, but you're starting to worry me."
The door to the room then opened and Grim walked in holding his scythe, "Lincoln! You gotta help me, mon!"
Clyde took one look at Grim and shrieked before fainting.
Grim looked down at the now unconscious Clyde and tapped him with the handle of his scythe, "Hmm, I've seen this kinda thing before. Does your friend have a creepy obsession with one of your sisters?"
Lincoln scratched the back of his head, "I mean, he used to. Not so much now though."
Yeah, I think they ditched that running gag for a multitude of reasons.
Grim shrugged, "Well, that's one step in da right direction."
Lincoln picked up Clyde and put his friend on his bed, "You said you needed my help?"
Grim started to tremble, "It's your evil sister, mon! She wants me to...to..."
Lincoln nodded, "Yes? What?"
"HAVE A TEA PARTY WITH HER!"
Lincoln rubbed his chin, "Well, it was nice knowing you Grim. And Lola's not evil, she's just cruel and mean and spiteful."
Grim furrowed his brow, "Believe me, I've been around the block more times than you ever will. I know evil when I see it!"
Just then, Lola kicked open the door to the room, "Oh Mr. Grim? You aren't at my table or in the outfit I picked for you! You aren't trying to make me MAD, ARE YOU?"
Grim was then grabbed and he was dragged out of the room, he pointed at Lincoln, "Mark my words, you'll be next!"
Lincoln shut the door and turned towards you, the reader, "You all may be wondering, is Grim part of the family now? Well, yeah, pretty much. The rest of my sisters had...interesting reactions to the Grim Reaper. You'll see for yourself in this series of flashbacks."
...
Leni gasped audiably, "O-M-Gosh! You got no fat on you! What's your secret? Oh, and I totes adore the Everyday Halloween dress!"
...
Luna rubbed her chin, "Nice body modification job, dude!"
...
Luan laughed in Grim's face, "Hey, how many souls do you need to reap before you get a life?"
...
Lynn tried tackling Grim, but Grim opened up a portal and Lynn fell in screaming until the portal shut. Where was she sent? Who cares?
...
Lola and Lana looked up at Grim in awe, "Cool! You guys got a walking skeleton toy!" Lana squealed.
Lola grabbed Grim by the wrist, "I wanna play with it!"
Lana grabbed his other wrist, "No! Me first!"
They both pulled so hard that they tore off Grim's arms, and the rest of him fell into a pile on the floor.
"...you two are most definitely evil." Grim told them.
"Hey! It still works!" Lana cheered.
...
Lisa was taking notes while observing Grim, "Well, ashide from the ghosts, bringing a dinosaur back to life, thwarting an amoral scientist, and traveling through time...thish may be the most impossible thing I've seen."
...
Back to Lincoln, he was playing on a handheld gaming device next to a still unconscious Clyde. Suddenly, he noticed the narration was back and put the device away. "As for our parents, they're mostly too busy to notice Grim being around the house. When they do see him, they just write him off as being another one of Lucy's creepy looking friends."
"That's not very nice, Lincoln." Lucy responded having inexplicitly appeared in his room without him noticing.
"AH!" Lincoln fell off his bed, "Well, can you blame me? One of your friends looks like Nosferatu!"
"Boris would take that as a compliment."
Lincoln stood back up, "Okay, so what's going on now?"
Lucy handed Lincoln a shovel while brandishing her own, "Charles has buried most of Grim's body in the backyard again."
"Wow, that fast? I only had my eyes off him for a few minutes!"
"Lana helped."
The two started to head out but Lincoln suddenly stopped, "Wait, what about Clyde?"
Lucy turned around to see Clyde still out cold, "He doesn't seem to be in any condition to help."
...
Later outside, Lincoln and Lucy had dug out a couple of Grim's bones while Lana and Charles ran around chasing each other.
"So, how long is Grim staying with us again?" Lincoln asked.
"Forever, don't you remember?" Lucy asked back.
"Uh, so, for the rest of our lives?"
"You say that as if I'm not going to become an immortal vampire."
Lincoln rolled his eyes, "Sure Lucy, you'll become a vampire."
"I don't see why you're being so skeptical about vampires. You rode a dragon, met several ghosts, witnessed magic, and now the Grim Reaper lives in our house."
"Those were different!" Lincoln protested, "I had seen clear evidence that they existed before I believed in them!"
"Didn't you believe in that fake ghost show before finding out they were real?" Lana asked.
Lincoln paused, "You know what? Let's ask Grim. He'll know for sure."
...
"Of course vampires exist, mon!" Grim answered as Lincoln and Lucy were putting the lower half of Grim's body back together while the upper half was in a dress at Lola's tea party, "Why are ya so skeptical about that? You got the Grim Reaper in front of you!"
Lola took a sip of imaginary tea before adding, "Plus you rode a dragon, met several ghosts, and-"
Lincoln groaned, "Okay, I get it! I'll be more open minded!"
Lola pouted, "And you should know not to rudely interrupt me! Grim, you can swap places with him."
"Ha! In your face, Lincoln!" Grim cheered as he and Lincoln switched places via two puffs of smoke.
Lincoln looked down at the dress he was now wearing, "Do I have to-"
"Yes." Lola told him.
Lucy attached the last of the bones, "So, do you deal with lot of vampires Grim?"
Grim shrugged as he put on his hooded robe, "Eh, sometimes. They can be a real pain in the neck."
Luan stuck her head into the room, face full of disappointment, "Weak delivery Mr. Reaper. I hope you don't mind if I steal that joke to make it better." she then left.
Grim furrowed his brow, "Unlike your braced sister who's a pain in the-"
"Can you make me into a vampire?" Lucy asked with a wicked grin.
"Lucy, no!" Lincoln pleaded.
"Ah, ah, Lincoln, you're not allowed to speak unless spoken to." chided Lola.
Grim spread his arms out, "Do I look like a vampire to you? You'll have to find a vampire who could turn you into one. They're very secretive about the process, I've never come across it in any of me books."
Lucy tapped her chin, frowning now, "Fair point, but why would you want to look up the process?"
Grim brooded a bit, "Well...I wanted to be a vampire when I was in high school, like Dracula. Then me parents told me that I was already an undead skeleton and the process wouldn't work anyway."
Lincoln raised an eyebrow, "Wait, you went to high-"
Lola loudly set her teacup plate on the table, "Lincoln, your rudeness is spoiling my generosity. Soon you'll have none of it."
Lincoln ceased his questioning on supernatural education.
"Know anywhere I could find a vampire?" Lucy then asked.
Grim shrugged, "Not at the moment, no."
There was a knock at the door, and it opened to reveal Clyde behind it, "Hey Lincoln, Luan told me you were in here and-" Clyde started shrieking again.
"Relax kid, I'm not gonna do anyting to ya." Grim scoffed.
"Sorry, I just wasn't ready to see Lincoln in a dress." Clyde told him.
