Lucy slowly approaches from the darkness, "Don't be shy, leave a review. If it's good enough, I might respond."
Scream and Tell
Lucy was in her classroom showing off Grim during "show and tell". I'm pretty sure they do that for Lucy's grade, whatever it is.
Lucy read off a script she wrote, "In conclusion, Grim here will be there for all of us when our time on this Earth has reached its end. Any questions?"
Grim was unamused, all the kids seemed more confused than anything and Lucy's teacher was busy reading a magazine rather than observing the presentation.
With no questions being asked, Lucy turned towards the teacher, "All finished Ms. Idell."
The teacher finally looked up from her magazine and screamed, "AAH! BONES!" she pointed at a kid near the back, "Miss Bones, what are you doing?"
In the back, a little girl was still with a smartphone in her hand, "Uh...showing my friend my new phone?"
"Put it away or I'm taking it from you!" yelled the teacher.
Lucy decided to just lead Grim back to her desk where he stood for the rest of class.
...
After classes were over for the day, Lucy and Grim walked down the hallway of the school. Grim taking notice of not many kids giving him much attention and at one point seeing a robot and a dinosaur. "Seems the mundane world is gettin' its mojo back. Would explain why you kids can see me 'n comprehend my being here." Grim remarked.
Lucy shrugged. "That's one way of justifying it." The duo reached Lucy's locker where she deposited most of her school items.
"Can we go home now? I despise being around so many children at once."
Lucy shook her head. "Sorry Grim, but the real reason I brought you to school today was to introduce you to your fan club."
"Really? C'mon mon! You should've told me this! I'm way unprepared!"
Lucy stared at him for a moment. "I did tell you. Several times."
...
At the start of the week, Lucy went up to Grim and Lincoln while they were playing video games. "Grim, the rest of the Junior Morticians Club would love to meet you. Care to embrace them with your presence?"
"Huh? Yeah, sure, whatever."
The day before, Grim and Lynn were sparring in karate gi in the backyard when Lucy walked up. "Grim, are you ready to meet the rest of the Junior Morticians Club tomorrow?"
Grim turned around. "Do the what now? Oh, sure."
"Surprise attack!" Lynn cried as she pounced at Grim.
In response, Grim held up one of his fists which Lynn's face collided with. This resulted in Lynn being knocked backwards and landing on the ground.
"Oh shoot! Are ya still with us, Lynn?" Grim asked.
Lynn held aloft a thumbs up. "Great reversal!"
That very morning, Grim was having morning coffee while looking over the obituaries. Lucy appeared next to him, "Come on Grim, you're coming with me to school."
"I am?"
"Yeah, I'm going to show you to the Junior Morticians Club."
"Fine, let me finish up here."
...
Grim shrugged, "Guess I wasn't giving ya my full attention."
Lucy looked down. "Sigh. Story of my life."
The duo went to the room used by the Junior Morticians Club. Upon entering, Grim was bombarded by a colony of bats. "Ah! What's the meaning of this, mon?"
"Welcome soul reaver! I am the Junior Morticians Club co-president, Haiku." greeted Haiku, "We figured to greet you with your messengers."
Grim smacked a few bats away from his face, "Messengers? I don't use bats as messengers!"
"It was the most we could do, crows and ravens are rare in this area." explained Morpheus.
Grim rubbed his jaw, "Uh, I don't use crows or ravens either. That's just superstition, mon."
"What do you use, Mr. Grim Reaper?" asked Persephone.
Grim held out his hand and his scythe appeared out of thin air, "Well, me scythe of course."
Boris rubbed the wood on the scythe's snath, "Ooh! Such lovely material!"
Grim pulled it away, "Hands off! She's delicate!"
"Mr. Grim, is it true that you know the exact day and time that we expire?" asked Dante.
Grim frowned at them all, "Okay, it's clear to me you children have many misconceptions about me and the nature of my business. It looks like I need to set the record straight."
Lucy beamed a tiny smile, "Would you? That sounds so amazing that it could fill the empty void where my heart would be."
"Of course I can, if that's what you'd all like?"
The Junior Morticians Club all gave a monotone "Yes." with a hint of a hiss.
"Dang, you kids are spooky. Okay then!" Grim tapped the floor with his scythe and the ground shook a little as an elevator rised up from underneath.
There was a resounding "Oooh!" from the kids.
The elevator doors opened up and Grim stood by the opening. "Okay, everyone in. Keep your hands and feet inside and to yourselves at all times."
The goth kids quickly got inside and Grim entered after them. When everyone was inside the elevator, Grim scrolled down the buttons until he found the one just under "The Abyss" and just above "Mr. Dusk's Joke Stash" and pushed it. The doors to the elevator closed.
"Underworld, here we come!" Grim announced.
"I've always wanted to go to the Underworld!" Dante remarked as the elevator went down.
That's when the elevator picked up speed, causing almost everyone to be pulled upwards onto the ceiling, screaming all the way. Everyone besides Grim who inexplicably was still standing in place on the floor.
"Grim! What's happening?" Lucy asked.
Grim turned around with a smile. "Oh? Did I not mention to hang onto the bars? Don't worry, it's a short trip."
The elevator dinged and the goths all fell onto the floor. There was a crack sound.
"Boris may have broken his leg." announced Boris.
Grim pointed at them and a green beam shot at the kids. The beam lifted them all up off the floor and onto their feet.
"...odd, Boris's leg is all better." Boris remarked.
"Powers over life and death, mon. Small injuries are nothing to me."
The elevator doors opened and the goth kids braced themselves for the afterlife.
To Be Continued...
Lucy popped up in front of the title card, "Are you serious? We were about to get to the good part!"
Well, life got too crazy last month and I wasn't able to upload. We're lucky we got this far.
"I want you to continue the story now."
And I want a partner who won't abuse or take advantage of me, we can't always get what we want.
"Sigh. See you all next time. Please review."
