The wishes of the blonde menace were not being honoured to the appropriate degree while he was away. Ciel didn't mope and sit around all day, so that part was done, however, he also stayed inside. That did go against Alois' request and the butler caught on. Ciel was minding his own business in the library, reading some of the books that the shelves in the office did not hold for once in a long while when Sebastian came into the vast room.
"Master," began the man clad in black, "you haven't been outside today."
"I know. I'll go later." Ciel answered without even bothering to look up.
"It's past noon." Sebastian informed, checking his watch. "Jim will be on his way back soon."
"I'll do it. Just not now." While the bluenette insisted this, both of them knew the truth. Ciel didn't want to go outside, so he wasn't going to. At least, that is what he thought. Sebastian had other plans for him, and put them into action almost immediately. With a yelp, the fully grown Phantomhive was picked up and swung over the older demon's shoulder.
"What are you doing?!" Sir Phantomhive demanded, striking his butler's back with his one fist to no avail. "Put me down!"
"I am afraid that I cannot do that, master. You instructed me to heed the wishes of Mister Phantomhive, your spouse, and he has ordered me to ensure that you get some fresh air." spoke the man clad in black while carrying his master through the house. "'No matter how much he struggles,' he said. Thus, I am permitted to ignore your pleas to set you down."
"Liar! You don't really care if anything cancels out! Set me down this instant! Sebastian!"
"You must look so silly from the outside, master." chuckled the butler while opening the door connecting to the back patio. "Good thing I will be inside."
After setting the Phantomhive down, Sebastian bolted for the door in order to lock Ciel outside before his master could do a thing about it. He was surprised at how well the man's booming voice could be heard through the glass as he shouted and cursed. It was useless, however, unless Ciel found a place to break back in. Unfortunately, he was taken by surprise and did not have any keys in his pocket.
"Sebastian! Sebastian! Open this door!" barked the bluenette while wrapping on the door with his fist. It was aggressive, but he was careful not to break the glass. For the time being, it seemed as though he was stuck. Now he hadn't the faintest idea what on earth he was supposed to do while out there. One could only walk around the garden so many times on one's own.
Still, with nothing else to do but fume at the humiliation that he had just endured, Ciel started walking, hoping to get to the gazebo further into the garden. He wouldn't do much but sit and play on his phone as he wasn't sure what else he was supposed to do. If he wasn't the only one there, he could at least talk, but he was on his own. The fresh air didn't help him much. It only made him bitter that he was forced outside.
Really, he found it interesting how his husband was able to control Sebastian. The butler was the only real father that Alois knew, so he was cared for in a way that was similar to Ciel, if not more civil. They bonded at times, especially over their shared enjoyment over pestering the Watchdog. Yet, this time Sebastian took advantage of Alois' genuine concern as an opportunity.
Really, the menace meant no harm or embarrassment. He just wanted to make sure that Ciel didn't sit and fester. It came from a good place in his heart, really it did. Alas, it was not fully appreciated right at that moment, as Ciel was thoroughly annoyed. In a few hours, he would appreciate the gesture, but time stood in the way.
He sat at the gazebo, wishing he could fold his arms and pout, but the sling got in the way. The fact that his arm was regaining some feeling in places shockingly didn't make him feel better, as it felt as though he were being stabbed with needles in the small patches were his nerves were starting to reawaken. The limb still felt heavy and useless as it dangled there, but now it was also a much greater source of discomfort that he could do nothing about.
With a heavy sigh, he closed his eye and felt the soft breeze on his skin while listening to the awful sounds of nature. There was an especially loud bird that the man wished would be quiet. All he could do was pull out his phone and start playing on it while hoping that the battery didn't die before Sebastian let him back in.
Yet, the peace that he did find was interrupted before very long. He heard footsteps approaching, but didn't need to look up to see who it was. It wasn't Alois, but another family member who was blonde at some point. To be polite, Ciel had to look up and acknowledge his cousin as she stood looking over his shoulder with a wide grin.
"Hello, Ciel~!" she greeted while wrapping her arms around the man's shoulders. The woman accidentally squeezed too hard, however, causing him to grunt as his wound was agitated. "Sorry! Sorry, I forgot for a minute..."
"It's fine… I sort of miss when it was just numb." he commented, rubbing the sore appendage. "How are you, Lizzie?"
"I'm doing well. More importantly, however, how are you?" she invited herself to have a seat across from the Watchdog. "You simply must tell me everything."
"What? Is there really nothing happening at HELLSING?" questioned the man. "Have things been quiet?"
"There is always something. Lately, we've been scrambling to keep things sorted with the Americans shipping their supernaturals to Pyestock."
"Jim said something about that. He went to the base today to talk about the project."
"Is he doing well?"
"We did have a bit of a spat the other day, but otherwise, he's alright. We reconciled. It was my fault for being stubborn."
"Goodness, I had no idea you argued!" Elizabeth said, reaching over to put her hand on top of her relative's good one. "Tell all!"
"We don't argue often. It's very rare. When we do, we work things out." Ciel explained. "He was worried because I was sitting around the office all day while wallowing in the feeling of powerlessness that came with losing my arm."
"So you feel better now?"
"Yes, but I still feel weak and don't much care for the idea of going out like this."
"The world isn't a battlefield, Ciel." the woman said, but had to think about that soon after. "Well, not all of the time. You're safe."
"Most of the time, but watch my luck at being caught when it is." the bluenette stubbornly stated. "I can't afford to be reckless. Yet, Jim is right in that I cannot stay here forever. Just trying makes me feel depressed."
"You could come to visit me at my house to get you out of yours." suggested the Hellsing. "It's the part where you go do things that matters, isn't it?"
"True. Perhaps I will. I'd like to let my husband know first, however." To this, Elizabeth snorted lightly, causing the man to raise an eyebrow. "And just what is so funny?"
"You. You're such a good husband. It's so cute~!" declared his cousin with a wide grin. "Isn't your anniversary coming up in a few months?"
"Yes. It's the twenty-sixth of July."
"Ooh! That's so close!" gasped Elizabeth, clasping her hands together. "Do you have any plans."
"Will you be able to keep it hidden if I told you?" Ciel questioned, knowing his family member well. Elizabeth would have problems if she were too excited, but with what he had in mind, she would be without a doubt. Whether it was in a good way, however, was yet to be determined. The woman nodded in agreement, regardless, prompting Ciel do gesture for her to come closer before whispering in her ear.
With a shocked gasp, the Hellsing put a hand over her mouth to hide part of her shocked expression. "Are you perfectly serious?" she asked, earning a nod from the Phantomhive. "Would Uncle Vincent have approved?"
"My father is no longer here, therefore I highly doubt he will mind too much." answered the head of the Phantomhive household. "Then, or even during, I would like a nice date with just the two of us where nothing out of the ordinary happens at all. Just a nice, quiet outing. I won't bribe anyone, no one will be threatened, there are no fights in the streets or terrorist plots- just a normal, pleasant outing with my husband."
"What sort of dates do you two go on?"
"We try our best, but sometimes, things happen that are out of our control. As exciting as it is in moderation, sometimes, I just want things to be quiet and normal."
"Has getting married calmed you down, some?" questioned Elizabeth with a giggle and a knowing grin. "It happens to the best of us."
"Before, that was all that was exciting, but now I kinda like just sitting around and talking. It's wonderful..."
"Where was this when we were engaged, hm?"
"Uh… Perhaps it just hadn't developed yet at that point..."
A/N: It's been a rough week...
I'm sorry that it took so long to get this out. A lot was happening. I actually have shit that's due Monday... Will I finish it in time?! Stay tuned.
I have plot lines I wanna write, but I'd like to save them for the end of this fic... I suppose I could start another one afterwards, but why bother? I'll mess around a bit, first. Save that trauma for much, much later...
Ah... what else did I want to talk about? I forgot... I always remember AFTER I post, but never when I'm writing the A/Ns? What is up with that?
I really wanna draw... Who should I draw? I want to draw side characters who hardly ever show up, or baddies who've been dead for a while...
The song of this chapter was silence as I sat alone and couldn't decide what I wanted to listen to.
Until the next chapter, my duckies~!
