"Teeheehee. Open up, Raffi~" Amitie shook a strawberry in front of her girlfriend's face.
"Amitie, please stop. I am perfectly able to feed myself."
"But you wouldn't be as cute if you did it all by yourself." Amitie moped. "Now stop being a party pooper and as "aaah"."
Amitie was on a lovey-dovey picnic behind Silvana's caravan in the shade on an inactive day (at Raffine's request, wouldn't want to be seen). They've been a couple for three days now. And Amitie hasn't gotten sick of her pinkheaded, tall, sexy, strong, confident, well-spoken, well-behaved and condescending girlfriend at all yet. She's so quiet the way she's holding her. She's never seen someone be this close and affectionate to her besides Klug when dancing. (The close part. Not affectionate.)
"Aaaaaahhhnmmm." Raffine grumbled silently as the strawberry went in her mouth. Amitie mistook it as purring. Which stoked her love flame even more. She muzzled her. 'You're so annoying… Gah! Can't you take a hint?! You're lucky you're good at dodging.' She landed only one hit, and it was blocked. Amitie a match just by dodging and Raffine's temper ringing herself out. Maybe Raffine should pick up ballet too.
Raffine wanted to say something. 'Thank you, Amitie, you treat so right~ Like a goddess. But you're soooo frustrating!' But instead, she said: "You're not disappointing me. I've had worse dates." 'Cleans up nicely for what it's worth, I suppose. Now only if you were a guy…'
"Aw. That's the nicest thing you've said all day." She gave her a kiss on the cheek. "See, you can be nice if you want."
*Disagreeable mumbles* *Subject change* "I still say you should turn that bracelet back to emerald."
"Nah." Amitie disagreed. She thought the amethyst looked nice with what she was wearing.
"Hey, you two." A voice came around the corner. It startled Raffine for a moment. 1: Doesn't like to be caught. 2: It sounded kinda like Silvana. "Oh, sorry am I disturbing something?" Arle said all mellow.
"Kinda are, Arle. But don't mind. How's your chest? Does it still hurt?"
"Yeah. But it's simmering down. I'm a bit more concentrated, after tomorrow I should stop taking the painkiller."
"What in the world caused it?" Raffine asked.
"I haven't got the faintest. And I hope it doesn't happen again. The doctors are completely stumped. Eheh. I wanna say ouch but it's not coming out… Nice dress, Amitie."
"Heehee, thanks. Raffi helped to pick it out for me. I'm so happy to be your princess, Raffi, you're my princess too!"
"I know. Please stop announcing it to everyone…" Raffine pouted.
"I think you two look great together. I didn't think you liked girls, Raffine. I should've seen it coming given the way you dress."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing~" Arle started to feel woozy again. Side effects. She found herself looking at Amitie's bracelet. "Hey, is that thing filled with Silvana's essence?"
Amitie raised her arm and nodded. "Yup. It's a sign of how much she trusts me~ She trusts me."
"Is it supposed to make Silvana weaker?"
"How did you know?"
Raffine gave Amitie a light dope slap. "You ditz. That's common sense. Of course a being made of essence like Silvana gets weaker if she divides herself as such."
"I know that. But how… Nevermind. Is there something wrong with it?"
"I don't know… Well, actually. It would make you a target of Schezo's for one thing. And it is dangerous. I'm surprised Silvana is as well behaved as she considering she's all that."
"Don't sweat it. Sig's got it too."
"I know! And that's not a point in your favour, Amitie. I'm just a bit concerned about you two. You two could get corrupted!"
Raffine looked unamused. Did she really have to defend Silvana? "Arle. I like you, I want you to know that when I say: "How dumb are you?""
"Don't be so hard on her, Raffi. She still has amnesia."
"It's okay…" Arle brushed off. "I've forgotten how Essence Holding people work." She admitted. "Just the basic traits that each essence holds on its own."
"And that the people they're made of don't have to be like they're the essence." Amitie finished. She refreshed herself up on it to be ready to help her Essence Holding sister.
"Yeah…" Arle held her head. "Don't say more. I'm out of it again. (Stupid side effects…)" Arle took a deep breath. "I'm looking for Silvana, I wanna give'r a piece of my mind. Corruptive essence shouldn't be handed out like that. That has to be illegal, right?"
"Trust me, it's not." Raffine clarified. She pushed Amitie's hand aside. Embarrassed her girlfriend tried to feed her in front of a person. One she respects no less.
Arle, however, was focused on that Raffine knew that.
"What? I study law from time to time. I do agree with you it shouldn't be legal." She turned to Amitie.
Amitie let go of Raffine for the first time since Arle arrived. She shrunk. "She trusts me…"
"Amitie, dearie." 'Did I just say dearie?' "Amitie, dear. It'd be a shame if a special… one-of-a-kind person such as yourself dies because of an unfortunate, stupid, blind sighted mistake you made thanks to some essence of someone you trust."
…
"I'll see if I can bribe the mayor this time." She sighed. 'That old corpse won yet another election…' Arle agreed with the pinkhead.
"Please… She did it to keep you safe, Arle…"
"Huh? Just me?"
"Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhmmmmm. Everyone? She knows she's a danger. Please, Raffi, I'm begging you. It's not her fault she is so much essence."
Amitie stared up into her love's eyes with her teary puppy dog eyes holding her arms.
"Don't make life harder for her, just because you two don't like her. She's a good person even if she says she isn't. I just know it." *Sniff* "You guys have no idea what she told me she's been through… Pretty please~"
…
"Why is this working? And let go of my arm, I don't like to be touched like that!"
"So you'll let it slide?"
Raffine rolled her eyes and crossed her arm. "For now…" She wasn't happy about acting against her wishes.
"Yay! Thankyouthankyouthankyou~ Raffi, you're so wicked~"
'Wh-Why am I the submissive in this relationship? This blows…'
Arle facepalmed. "Where's Silvana."
"Arle, are you sure you wanna see Sil while you're still dizzy from the painkillers?"
"I'll be fine." She held her head. "Now where is she? I didn't see any light in her caravan."
"Well, she's probably over here." Amitie knocked on the caravan wall with the back of her hand.
From behind the wall, they vaguely heard a clown shaped body lose her balance. "Ow."
"WHAT! Amitie! You knew but you didn't tell me about this!?" Raffine freaked that they didn't have any privacy at all after all.
"Get real, Raffi. She doesn't like us being together. We're snuggling behind her home thanks to you. Of course, she was gonna spy on us, silly-willy. That's just how it works. Haven't you read any manga or comics?" Raffine stayed silent on that one, they must never know… "It's not because she's jealous, she just cares that much. Can you leave us two truly alone next time, Sis?!"
"We need our privacy!"
"O-Okay! I-I'll try!" They barely heard behind the wall.
"Hey, Silvana! It's me, Arle! We need to talk!"
"MRGRGR!... Meet me behind my room's door!"
"Okay!"
"Be careful, Arle."
"Thanks, Amitie. Have fun making out. Hahahaha, ugh." The painkillers took effect again.
Raffine became absolutely red.
"Sil's distracted now. Do you wanna make out?~" Amitie playfully teased, saying in the best seductive tone she could muster..
Raffine paused and stared. "N-Not yet, AJ."
"What?"
"What."
"What?"
"What."
"What?"
"Whaaaat."
"What?"
Etc.
Chapter 59: And now: The talk
"I'm a self-loather, Arle. I hate my Amethyst existence enough. Alright? I shouldn't exist. I wouldn't want to have them hurt. I don't want them corrupted either! If they get in trouble I'll get them out of it! Trust me, Arle! I'm not some agent of chaos, you know?"
Arle pitied Silvana. "It's like she's twelve or something…"
"I heard that!" She yelled at the door between them.
"Still. Be careful where you store your essence."
"Do you think I don't know that? I'm not allowed to enter certain buildings because of it. And they can take it off if they need to! Now gimme a painkiller, some space, leave me alone, don't bother me and stay out of my sight! IN THAT ORDER!"
"Will do…" She said against her best interests. "Why do you need my painkillers?"
"Are you joking?! Have you seen yourself? I'd kill to be that tranquil."
"I don't know."
"I have a cellar full of alcohol to drown in if you prefer! And I'll blame you!"
Arle wasn't sure if she preferred it. She was gonna give a painkiller regardless. She gave one.
"Thank you, so much…"
Author's Notes:
I do really like Raffine and Amitie's dynamic here. I'm happy how it turned out.
Next up: Silvana scales the toughest version a dungeon tower has. Can she survive the reopened wounds?
