There was a knock on my door. It was early in the morning and I had just gotten into my casual wear for the lazy indoor Sunday. I raced to the door and swiftly opened it. My heart stopped as soon as I saw the person who stood before me.
"Morning!" he greeted me cheerfully.
"G-good m-morning," I stuttered as I returned a smile.
"May I come in?" he asked.
"A…h…um…" I hesitated.
"Is something wrong?" he asked, "Don't worry. I'm alright with messy rooms."
"That's not it!" I said immediately, "It's tidy and sparkly."
"Then what is wrong?" he asked.
"Are you real?" I looked up at him and asked without a second thought. I clasped my mouth and turned to the floor. Of course he's not real. How can it be? A hand reached up to my cheek and gently turned my head so my eyes met his green ones. And then his lips came in contact with my other cheek.
"Was that real?" he asked me. I touched my cheek and I still felt his warmth on my skin. It felt real. It really felt real. I smiled as reality set in.
"It felt real," I said honestly. I clasped his hand in both my hands and held it up to my chest. He looked at me with his gentle eyes and smiled faintly.
"I'm happy," I told him.
"Even though I wish for this to be real, I know it's not. This is just a dream," I said, "But the fact that I am able to meet you made me happy. I'll never forget you."
"Thank you, Kadaj," I smiled cheerfully at him. He only smiled at me as he walked away from me. As he walked, his form disintegrated and green pyreflies filled the corridor.
I knew that at any second during my conversation with him, my time will come. So I wanted it to end. I've always thought that it's better to have a dream that ends than a dream that never ends and never to be continued. I smiled as my Sunday alarm went off. I knew the door will be silent today but I was happy.
