"Has Revy come back yet?" questioned the menace, standing in the doorway with his cell phone in hand. "He hasn't called or anything, still..."
"Isn't it normal for teenagers to go off with their friends?" questioned his husband in return. "Text Daniel and ask if Samantha has seen him."
"Alright..." Alois finally conceded, looking down at his screen. Ciel watched him type while trying to think of an alternative, if this wasn't the case. "What if she says she hasn't, though?"
"Then go out and check the route he takes home. I can wait here to see if he comes back."
"Can you try texting him?" requested the blonde. "Sometimes, he doesn't want to answer me."
"Of course." Ciel stated. He then stood up and tried to find his phone.
Revy hadn't returned home yet after work. It was unusual for him. Most days, he was just glad to go straight upstairs to his room, but he wasn't there. He wasn't anywhere in or around the mansion and Alois was worried. Ah, if Sebastian were here, he would be able to find him in minutes. Alas, they demons had to figure it out themselves. Fortunately, they were both detectives and enthusiasts of common sense.
Their asking around proved fruitless, however. They asked Daniel if Samantha had seen him, but she had no clue. Daniel did see him, which was unusual, but told them that he had said he was going home. He also informed them of what he and the boy had been discussing. Revy expressed concern with his career choices and seemed uncertain as to what he was going to do next. This was insightful, but didn't give them many leads. All it implied was that Revy had the intention of heading home. He probably didn't anticipate any hold ups.
Asking his other friend, Geraldine Midford, didn't show any results either. They got similar results from the police station. They were informed that the Chief of Police spoke to him about his work, which explained why he went to Daniel's office. So far, that's what they had. They had a line from the police station to the town welfare center. It was about a block's worth of distance, but it was still something.
"I'm going to go looking for him." Alois said, grabbing a jacket. "I'm gonna start from Gehenna and head back."
"Good luck. I'll keep asking around and see if there's anything I can do."
"Keep me posted." Without another word, he was out the door.
His driving was slightly erratic as he sped all the way to his destination. The inside of the car was deathly quiet with only the sound of the engine providing white noise. The man was completely alert with his senses sharp in case he accidentally came across the lad on his way there. Against his knowledge, his eyes were glowing while his brow furrowed in concentration. He was worried. His mind jumped to the worst of the worst happening. How on earth would the boy handle himself?
As he grew closer and closer to his destination, he began to sense more supernatural beings, which distracted him a bit. At the same time, however, it gave him some hope. Perhaps one of them saw which way his brother went? That was his line of thinking when he pulled over and found a place to park his vehicle. Getting out, he stopped the first supernatural he could sense.
"Excuse me!" he called out, alerting their attention. From what Alois could gather, this person was a witch of some sort. Either way, she certainly recognised him from the way she looked at him. "I'm looking for my little brother. He's got really, really red hair. Like a crayon, almost. He also wears sunglasses."
"O-oh… I'm sorry, I can't say I have, sir..." the witch answered. "I'm sorry..."
"It's okay. I'll try someone else. Thanks for your help!"
Several people had similar answers after the first, but eventually, he came across a rather intimidating bunch. The were big all around and had somewhat scary-looking faces. Alois figured that they may be ogres or some such supernatural, but either way, he was going to ask them.
"Excuse me!" he said again, stopping the group. "I'm looking for my little brother-"
"Oh! It's Mister Lion!" one of them observed, cutting him off, somewhat.
"For real?" said another.
"He says he's looking for his little brother."
"The little one, or the older one with the hair and the glasses?"
"The older one!" nodded the menace, including himself back into the conversation.
"Yeah! We just saw him back that way!" one man in the group stated. "I was just tellin' the missus that that must be the Lion's brother, but she didn't believe it!"
"Well, you don't expect to see nobility every day, do ye?" the other adult in the group replied. Upon closer inspection, the group appeared to be a family, but Alois didn't have the time to focus on that.
"Really? Thank God..." he sighed in relieve with a hand over his chest. "Where did you see him?"
"In the window of some little cafe." the woman said. "That place is kept alive by supernaturals, y'know. We go there all the time. Just not today."
"I'll try there, then!" declared the blonde. "Thank you for all of your help!"
"Oh, before you go, sir, y'might want to check your glamour." Mister ogre suggested, pointing at his face. "Your eyes are red."
"Ah!" With that, Alois blinked a few times until he regained his composure. "Thanks again."
"Our pleasure. Good luck finding him!"
Waving to the family, the demon walked away. His pace was quick but he was careful to look in every window. He didn't want to miss the boy like he did driving by. There were enough supernaturals in the area that it made it harder to pinpoint him, but mostly it was due to how flustered the man was. From how fast he stopped, one might think that some of the rubber from his shoes had been rubbed off when he finally did see a flash of red.
Revy was sitting by himself, staring blankly at a pastry inside the building. His brother didn't linger on why for too long, however, as he was more focused on the task at hand. Bursting through the door, Alois barely acknowledged the person behind the counter greeting him as he frantically made his way toward his sibling.
"There you are!" the menace called out, seemingly snapping the other from his daze.
"Wha?" Revy started with before getting a tighter grip on himself. "What are you doing here?"
"You didn't come home, so I started looking for you." Alois answered, uttering a sigh of relief. "I'm glad you're okay. I was worried."
Getting a better look at the Phantomhive, Revy saw how flustered his brother was. His forehead was shiny with a thin layer of sweat and his expression was one that he rarely got to see. Alois was in a tizzy over him. He came looking just for Revy. Somehow, Revy was touched like this had never happened before. What's more, he wasn't being scolded at all. Instead, he was met with concern.
"Are you okay?" Alois questioned, offering himself a seat across from the other. "You've got a thousand-yard stare situation going on..."
"Oh..." there was hesitance in the lad's voice. "I freaked out a little and the lady at the counter over there brought me in here… She bought me this, too, but I'm really not hungry..."
"Do you want to tell me what freaked you out?" The Phantomhive wore a worried expression, but it softened as he spoke. "You don't have to, if you don't want to."
Shaking his head, the redhead answered: "I saw something. I don't know if it was a flashback, flash-sideways, or whatever, but it was fucked up..." Looking up at the other he added: "It wasn't one of your memories, either."
"Do you want to tell me what you saw?"
"Blimps." Revy answered. "Everything got dark all of a sudden and they started dropping bombs."
Now that was odd. Alois rubbed his chin on that one. Something did sound familiar about it, but it was nothing vivid. Why, the menace had never seen a blimp in person, so it couldn't possibly be a memory he formed himself.
"I'll have to ask Ciel about that." he confessed, recalling only that his husband said something about blimps or zeppelins or something attacking London once. "Did you notice anything else?"
"Well… The street changed a little bit… I was still in London, though." informed the boy. "I don't know how I know that. I just do..."
"Makes about as much sense as anything." Alois replied. "Do you want to go home now, or do you want to wait a little while?"
"I want to go home." nodded the younger of the two, prompting Alois to stand up. He soon followed, but waited for the menace to talk to the woman behind the counter of the shop.
"Excuse me?" the man greeted. "My brother says that someone here helped him."
"That was me." she said. "He looked like he was having a panic attack or something."
"I just wanted to thank you and pay for his food."
"No need! It's on me."
"Are you sure?"
"Definitely. I hope he feels better soon."
"Thank you so much!" Alois said before awkwardly starting to walk away. He really wasn't sure what to do in this situation. While insisting that he would tell his friends about the restaurant's help, he herded his sibling out the door and down the street to his car.
He closed the door on the passenger side once the younger Macken was inside before circling around to the driver's side. Honestly, he didn't know what to say. He wanted to tell his brother that things would be alright. He wanted to tell him about his own experiences, but Revy already knew about that. Alois really was going to talk to Ciel about what the boy had reported seeing and ask him if it rang any bells. For now, though, all he could manage was to sigh before turning the key.
"Let's go home..."
A/N: I feel like this is the most character development Revy has ever had at once. I might be wrong, though.
Here's a fun fact: The design from Revy's "past life" is actually taken from a background character in the Hellsing Ultimate OVAs. Good luck figuring out which one!
If someone actually does, they should win a medal... All they'll get is cred in the DLTD fandom, though. Not sure how much that's worth tho lol.
Until the next chapter, my duckies~!

Audrey: "How do you know? It's not even out yet. It's like, almost July? I dunno if I'll see that one. I don't really get figure skating. Seems more like Kris' thing. I am looking forward to Mob Psycho 100, though. I really liked One Punch Man."
