Upon waking the next morning, the bluenette was groggy and unhappy at being woken up by the alarm on his phone. He was comfortable in his spot nuzzled up against his husband's chest and was not at all keen on the idea of moving. The thought of it caused his body to ache and him to utter a groan. Unfortunately, the annoying sound woke up the blonde in question, as well, forcing a freshly awoken and somewhat irritated Alois to get up, nudging his spouse out of the way so he could reach across him and shut the infernal device off.
"It's time to get up, grumpy-butt." Alois said, only for the bluenette to cling to him again, wrapping his arms around his waist with another groan. "It's an important day. You can't stay in bed this time. You have to go to work." Reaching down, he grabbed Ciel's shoulder and began to slowly rock him back and forth. "Geeeetttt~ Uuuuup~!"
"Don't want to~" complained Ciel in response. "I want to stay here."
"But you need to take care of your company and Integra will be mad if you don't check up on the possibility of that Belmont guy on your staff and 'Mister Belmont' being the same guy." the menace responded, observing that his beau was still being just as stubborn as ever. Hoping to hit a soft spot, he added: "If you don't have Funtom, what are you going to pass on to our future children?"
Although in a begrudging fashion, that somehow did the trick. One of the many ways to Ciel's heart is to appeal to his sense of traditional, 1800s-style family values. He very much enjoyed the idea of passing on Funtom when their children were grown, or at least giving them an important spot in the company. Funtom had been a part of the Phantomhive family for centuries and he was not going to let it slip through his fingers because some other old sods wanted more lining in their pockets! Thus, Ciel finally sat up with his husband, although while still keeping his arms around the man.
"That did it?" Alois grinned, leaning in when the Watchdog pursed his lips with a hum and invited him in for a quick kiss. "I can't imagine how you'll be when we actually do have kids. Already protecting their assets before we're anywhere near close to trying to get them..."
"Legacy and such are important to us snooty noble-types." yawned the bluenette. "I've seen people go through much more bizarre lengths to maintain it."
"Like what?"
"Murder."
"Ah." the blonde nodded. "You still need to get up, though. You're running out of time to get ready."
"Right, right..." Ciel sighed, pursing his lips on last time so that his beau would kiss him before reluctantly letting go of the other man and rolling out of bed.
He took a shower, dried off and put on one of his nicer suits while rehearsing in his head what he was going to say at the meeting. He had done this many times before, but leading up to it was always the worst. During the actual firing, however, was a different story. There was just something wonderful about seeing the faces of a lot of old rich men go pale as they realised that their plan failed spectacularly. The Phantomhive was known to buy out or bankrupt businesses, leaving their owners penniless, because they hindered his business or otherwise annoyed him. In some cases, the same men in this attempted coup were the same people who helped him do it! Yet somehow, even after all of this, their greed and arrogance somehow manages to delude them into thinking that if they are smart enough, they can come out of this with more money and no scratches on them. Alas, that was never the case. They were always caught and they were always stripped of their power.
When he was done getting dressed, he started to head out, followed by his spouse. Alois was walking him to the door, still dressed in his night clothes, but now with brushed teeth. He had a smaller blanket from an unknown origin thrown around his shoulders, as he was still unwilling to leave the comfort of bed completely. Yet, he chatted away, fully invested in what Ciel was doing.
"Are you taking a cab or is Sebastian taking you?" he questioned.
"Sebastian is still trying to 'fix' the house, so I'm not sure if he's keen on making room in his schedule." the bluenette answered, referring to the supposed "disarray" that the butler found the mansion in upon his return. In reality, nothing had changed, although not everything had been dusted, but it was the end of the world to Sebastian, all the same. "That and I don't want to hear anymore about the various ways one can get rid of dust."
"What about lunch?"
"I was just going to come right back. This really shouldn't take long. Did you want to get something? You can meet me, or I can bring something back for us?"
"Actually, that would be nice. I've been kind of in the mood for a Big Mac, lately."
"Do you want that for here, or to go?"
"Not having to put on actual pants today would be lovely..."
"I'll bring it here, then." chuckled the Watchdog, stopping them both at the front door.
"Call me if anything happens, okay?" requested Alois while taking a moment to fuss over the other's appearance. "If you start feeling weird or anxious, I'll come get you if you need me."
He couldn't help but widen his smile as his husband reached up and straightened his tie for him. While he would never admit to it, sometimes he would intentionally make it slightly askew just so he would, just for the sake of the attention. Once the menace had done that, he fiddled with Ciel's collar and lapels, before reaching up and cupping his cheeks. The two exchanged a proper kiss that wasn't just a peck from there, with the Watchdog instinctively putting his hands on the other's hips while they both smiled against each other.
"Honestly, I don't think I deserve a husband as lovely as you." the Watchdog stated when they pulled away. "How I managed to get you to marry me is a mystery that I can't solve."
"I love you, too, Poochie."
"I'll see you when I get back, my darling." Feeling content and otherwise quite pleased with himself, the bluenette turned and walked out the door, looking back only to wave at his beau. His mood had completely turned around from the night before, and he was starting to think that this was going to be a pretty good day.
A/N: They're so cute, even when they're off to do some mean shit. Though to be fair, them fuckers have it comin'. #Relationship Goals
I really want some McDonald's...
Fun Fact: I have no idea what the title of the chapter is until I post it. Even as I write this, I have no fuckin' clue. We'll find out when I upload the document.
I'm lovin' it.
Let's see... what else can I talk about? Last chapter, the music I listened to was mostly from the Metal Gear Solid series. "Way To Fall," "Not Your Kind of People," and "The Best is Yet to Come" were the main ones.
I did have some questions I didn't answer, so let's get on that.
"What new types of powers and/or strengths has Ciel, Alois and any of the characters come across if any? If not are you planning on it?" by Guest
Short answer is: "I don't know." New powers will come when they come. In actuality, Ciel can do the thing where Alois used his demonic threads to make armour, but that's about it. (I think he actually has done this, but to make an offensive weapon, instead.) Alois is still the only one who can punch barriers. A lot of people thought that it was unfair that Alois got powers and Ciel didn't! I guess he does have a few more special abilities than Ciel does. Then again, it's usually Ciel who goes up against the "big bad" in the end of most of the arcs, not Alois. I dunno. That's something I need to think about more in the future, I think.
"(...)But just a thing that disturbed me, it's the fact that when Ciel woke up, he didn't seem to be able to see in the dark and Alois had to turn on the light. Aren't demons capable of seeing as if it was day in the dark ? Maybe he did, and that was just to reassure him, you tell me?" by Kinja145
Yeah. They can see in the dark. His brain was a little rattled, though. He had to check to make sure he had both arms, after all! Alois did it for reassurance, as if to say: "See? There is nothing hiding, here." Ciel was pretty out of it, though.
Until the next chapter, my duckies~!
