A year before Bella, Carys Vale moved to Forks and stole the heart of Carlisle Cullen. The thing is, Carlisle had more control than Edward when it came to his family's happiness and safety. Until that fateful day soon after Bella and Edward met, as far as Carys knew, Dr Cullen just liked coffee as much as she did. Carlisle/OC. Prequel, TW, NM & EC complete. Ongoing. Esme exists.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm trying to write this story but I fear I've ruined it for myself.
How? You may ask. Well. I put a version of my novel's love interest (different hair colour, a few thousand years older, same overall vibes) in this and then got stuck imagining what's happening in the future, and now all I want to do is write other peoples' stories.
Like. I love Carys and Carlisle, I do, but I have all this muse for Matt.
Blue Moon, Chapter 9 - Carlisle POV
They touched down in Brazil in the early hours.
Carys slept soundly - so soundly that she wasn't roused by Carlisle lifting her from her seat or carrying her from the plane. They would have to deal with the real world soon enough, but holding his wife in his arms, Carlisle could think of little save for her. Her softness, her gentle breath, the way she shifted against him.
He loved her.
No, not love.
Love was nothing compared to how he felt about her.
Words couldn't compare to how Carlisle felt about Carys.
'Love' was easy to think, even easier to say, and yet Carlisle carried Carys from the small plane in silence, wary of waking her before she was ready.
Carlisle had imagined she would be awake as they passed through the thriving city, imagined everything she would say and think when she saw the world shift around her and witnessed a culture, a scene, a country she had never experienced. One person's perspective was more important to him than his own - her's - and yet he let her sleep, let her miss the world passing her by because of selfishness.
It was selfishness, he decided.
He wanted to hold her, to feel her against him, to carry her as far as he could before he was forced to part from her for so much as a second. If he could carry her for an eternity, he would.
Carys moaned, shifting against Carlisle, burying her face in his neck before they reached the boat which would take them to the small island they owned. Carlisle stroked her hair, murmured to her, held her tight until she fell once again into oblivion.
He hoped her dreams were better than his thoughts.
When he'd last saw Matteo, less than a day before, Carlisle had warned him not to expect to travel with him and his wife. Carys was worried about Matteo's risk to Carlisle's wellbeing, but Carlisle worried more about the dhampir's risk to Carys. Matteo had a ruthlessness about him that worried Carlisle more than he wanted to admit; he felt as if there was more that Matteo was hiding from them both than the number of dhampirs or what their powers were...
Carys didn't wake until they were on the small boat, slicing through the waves and leaving the mainland behind. When she did wake, it was slow. She rubbed at her eyes and cheeks, blinking lazily, gazing about her as if she was still dreaming.
Carlisle guided the small boat on its way absentmindedly as he stared down at her and stroked her cheek. She rested against his leg. Her arms tightened around his thigh. She hugged that part of him - his leg, his thigh - while he stood at the helm and she sat watching the night pass them by. There wasn't much to see now but she gazed about her as he'd imagined.
Every time he looked down, he was struck by the wondrous look in her eyes.
No, it wasn't love he felt for her.
It was so much more.
It was indescribable.
A/N: This isn't even a chapter. I don't even know what this is. Please don't worry about reviewing or anything. I'm trying to have muse for Carys and Carlisle but right now it's difficult for a range of reasons. This is by far the shortest chapter (save the first). I'm actually sorry for posting it, and I'll reply to the reviews from last chapter on the next proper chapter.
