Sil and Sig had a silent understanding. They were in each other's bodies. Sig's body was warped, black, and a little ghostly. It was getting late. They've been through a lot. They're scared. They just wanted to be together in the comfort of Sil's caravan, take a quick bath, and then conk out in each other's embrace.
For Sig's safety, Sil made him wear the Raffine mask so they could cuddle without her (cl)own mask getting in the way.
They only spoke when it was needed. They were both too shaken to speak about their current predicament. Sig still had to deal with the overwhelming added clarity he gained from being in Sil's body.
And Sil had to deal with being… being… a monster? She found it hard to describe. She didn't find all the changes that happened to her current body at all hideous. But she was the one inhabiting it. Both Sig's arms were strong now, she'd had to be careful. It put her a little on edge.
If the shoe was on the other foot she felt like she'd find all these changes incredibly cool. Given if she didn't know what led to this. What he… She clenched Sig's claws in frustration.
"D-Did I put it on right?" Sig walked from the changing screen. Currently having a girl's body, he's so very nervous about changing clothes. Especially since the regular owner of that body is in the room, and since she takes a lot of care of her body…
"Sig…" Sil moaned because she was so tired. "You're just putting on pajamas… You've already correctly put on my usuals. You're doing fine." Sil already put on some pajamas herself, though they're not Sig's size. "Stop worrying."
"How!" Sig yelled from the stress pent up from just this single day.
Sil looked at him. She could stand seeing him stressed out. She reached out a claw out to her own hand. She held him gently, to make sure not to crush it. Silvana quietly led Sig to her bed, as she lifted him onto the mattress. "Let's sleep and worry about it tomorrow. Take it from me, you don't wanna stress." Sil spoke like a worried mom.
The surrealness of being in each other's body hasn't left yet. Sig saw a nightmare version of himself, and Sil technically did something she'd never do; comfort herself. (Sig having the life-like Raffina mask on did help.)
"Okay, I'll try." Sil smiled at his response. Sig crawled to where the pillows were on this bed and Sil followed.
"Don't forget, don't ever sleep without a dreamcatcher." Sil said based on what Sig told her earlier. The two tucked each other in. Though Sig was still shaken. "What's wrong? Am I scary to you?" Sil asked, just curious.
Sig quietly nodded. "I can barely see you in the dark. Even with that glow around you."
"Ah…"
Sig gasped. "The darkness cuddles you, you cuddle the darkness." Sil's wheezed a little at that joke. "Nothing to be afraid of…" See said as sweet as she possibly could, though it did sound a bit weird coming out of Sig's mouth.
"Sil!" Sig held Sil now as she was holding him. "Sil… Can you promise me something?" The boy's speech was starting to crack a little. It was a little concerning to Sil.
"Of course."
"Please don't betray me like uncle did!" The reality, as Sig perceived it, hurt to say out loud. He started crying into his own chest.
"Sig, I would never." The two cuddled until Sig cried himself unconscious.
Chapter 88: Some rest for the kids?
Silvana on the other hand. While she was tired. She couldn't sleep. She laid there mutually holding Sig. She couldn't sleep at all no matter how tired. And here she hoped to share a dream with this boy she loves.
Sig's been asleep for a while now and as much as Sil loves being near him, regardless of him being in her body, but she was getting bored. Silvana decided to take a stroll around her circus or something. Something to clear her mind without having to sleep because she herself was also still shaky from it all, and she couldn't put it to rest.
Subconsciously somewhere along her walk turned into a float. She floated around her big top. The ability came naturally to her. And not like the way her own body's floating worked.
The clown found it nice to sorta fly around without thinking but as an acrobat, she's a big gravity lover and would like to just jog.
She kept floating regardless, much to her sleepless annoyance. Sig's newfound weightless greatly annoyed her.
As any acrobat knows, practice makes perfect. But she's too tired to get this right. She isn't in a mood to take failure well. She needed rest.
Looking up a little, Silvana saw the moon. A full moon, it was beautiful. The clown decided then and there she might as well watch it go under if she couldn't sleep.
Sil jumped high and landed on her caravan like a feather. She carefully laid down to watch until the moon went under.
She's calmer and more tired yet she still couldn't sleep. 'Bored… I'm gonna go back inside…'
With a gentle, flippy jump she landed with her face facing her door.
"Ah!" Sil jumped a little because of that voice. For some reason, Arle was there, now sitting on the ground from the surprise. "Don't scare me like that!" Arle yelled getting back up.
"What are you doing here?" Sil grumbled, crossing Sig's arm and frowning.
"Oh, just like I figured. You're still in his body, huh?" Arle replied in a similar tone.
"And it seems we'll stay like this…" Sil said looking at Sig's claws from every angle. "A visit to Uncle to have him reverse it seems out of the question."
"I can't believe Sig's uncle did this to you guys." Arle spoke in a sympathetic manner.
"Meh. What are you doing here?"
"I came here on Amitie's behalf." Arle had her convinced to let her handle this. Sil braced herself for when she has to see her sister tomorrow. "She wanted to know if you and Sig are okay. I wanted to know too. This isn't your everyday situation…"
"We're. Fine." Sil was getting annoyed by her copy.
"Sorry for caring, jerk."
Sil wanted to comply and say thank you. But Sil didn't want to comply and thank her. "Hmmm. Got a cure for insomnia?" Sil snickered hard out of nowhere. "Haha. Asking for a friend."
Arle didn't want to, but she snickered at that joke too. "Hahaha… Sig's got insomnia now? Poor guy… You should see a doctor about that."
"You're right. We should see a doctor." Sil said, staring at Sig's claws.
"Hey, if you're about as irritable as you normally are with a lack of sleep, maybe we can be on more friendly terms when you get treatment?"
"Maybe you can shut your mouth. I haven't had any sleep, I hate you, and I got unfamiliar magic coursing through veins that aren't mine and I got monstrous claws."
"Fine." Arle wasn't all that phased by that threat, but she backed off just in case. "I got your message, say hi to Sig for me, that I wish him and his body the best. I'm gonna go do what you should do and go to sleep." Arle casually walked off.
Sil frowned. She blew a raspberry.
Arle pulled an eyelid and blew a raspberry back.
Sil almost pulled and eyelid. But then Sig's fingers got into view. Letting Arle win.
"Sil!" She heard inside her caravan. The clown immediately attended to Sig's need. "Where are you? I'm lost! I'm scared!… Don't leave me…"
Author's Notes:
I'll be back periodically for now. Whenever I feel like writing.
Also, I've been procrastinating on spell checking this chapter. You can thank this fic's 4th Anniversary for getting me back to it.
Next up: A visit to the doctor.
