Chapter 37: memory lane

Josh:

I turned to her and asked "is this because of the news from earlier?" she gave a hesitation but that was to be expected, its hard to find out that someone you knew was lost to you. I asked "how long had the both of you been working together?" I knew they were part of the criminal world as members of Team Magma, but some people found themselves and more in the darkest of places. She peered to the sky an answered "perhaps too long, I was a low point in life and he was too. We never told each other why were at our low points and yet we seemed to fit well together, myself, Tabitha and even Blaise. I wonder if even he is still alive" he voice gave an aura of sorrow with each word that left her lips.

She asked me "why do you trust the other pokedex users? Seems like you take every chance you get to be alone away from them all" I couldn't deny that I was use to travelling around by myself, on occasion it feels natural and odd to have the two eeveelutions with me too. I answered "I trust them, about three years ago the four of us took down a plot involving Team Plasma. They helped me when I needed them and I helped them when they needed me. the one I trust most has to be Nei, we've been through more going back as far as Johto" I called out my red Gyarados and she looked in surprise before I continued "he was even caught by her during our work to stopping Team Rocket together. She felt he was better suited to being with me more than with her" Courtney asked "have you lost anyone during your travels?" I was hesitant to answer, though I have lost people, I have tried to not let their loss affect me that much. With the mind set that they would have wanted me to remember the better times more than the final moments. I answered "I have, though I doubt they'd want me to be sad, but instead keep going as far as I can take myself. My team was picked for the purpose of bringing the best out of them and myself, even the shiny Gyarados was given to me by the pokedex user Nei. They all remind me of what I've lost and where I've been but never held me or them back from reaching our full potential" she seemed surprised by my answer and asked "is that how you were able to take down the other two organisations?" I gave a nod, remembering what we had been through shows how much of a connection we have but also the connections that have been formed because of the fact we went through it. "Even watching Tank and Winona battle reminds me of the times I spent travelling around the different regions, improving my battling skills as well as meeting new people" I asked "don't you think making those bonds are just as important as keeping in touch?" it seemed like an obvious answer, but when you've lost someone close or turned your back on your dreams in the past. Its hard to see which of the two, or either one, would be worth keeping.

She asked "what got you into being a trainer?" I thought back and gave a nod as I answered "that was a long time ago, I was assisting Bill in the Kanto region at the time. He developed the pokebox storage system and I was learning how to run the different programs to make it more efficient, you could say it was everyone he worked with that developed the system into what it is today because of the fact he was willing to teach people proper care for machinery" I gave a smile and turned to Courtney "from what I heard, he still has direct access to the system he helped develop in Kanto as well as a seat on the pokemon association, the ones who govern the rules behind pokemon battling and standards to gym battling" she seemed intrigued by having a high standing in the pokemon world as well as having time to maintain the system. I continued "at the time I had just reached ten and wanted to learn more about the workings of computers as well as how to make new programs to help people in the long run" she asked "how'd that turn out for you?" I sighed and adjusted my glasses before answering "I became great at the programming and went on the adventures later, I can talk about if you want" she gave a nod and I thought back to the early days, back then I had just got a pokemon Charmander.

~flash back~

I just got Charmander and was heading on the next adventure, hearing about someone who was working on a new transference system to help trainers. They were said to be somewhere near Cerulean city though I didn't know what he looked like or what to expect once I found him. Yet I continued on the adventure and even trainer Charmander to Charmeleon, we went through several loses as well as a few wins, I wasn't as good as I wanted to be, but I figured that with technology I wouldn't have to worry so much about battling. Felt like I had been travelling longer and shorter at the same time with the goal clear in my mind.

When I arrived in Cerulean City, it was busier than I expected and was more like a small village rather than what I'd consider a town. This is where the gym leader, Misty, happened to reside and heard that she was one of the better gym leaders. She was said to be good in both terms of battling but also a generally nice person. She was helping Bill gather the parts from other gym leaders to build his system. I found them both in the local park area tinkering away with the machinery, I assumed not too far from the gym in case she had a challenger and still wanted to help out.
