Chapter 38: meeting Bill
Josh:
They seem like they've known each other for a long while, especially with how the gym leader is talking to Bill on a more casual level. I approached cautiously and waved to them, they seemed to have a friendly vibe about them and waved in return. "Hey, did you need any help?" I asked curiously, they were working with machine parts, so I figured id be of some help.
"Well, why not, the more the merrier, right?" the gym leader asked Bill and he gave a nod with a smile. She stood up and held her hand out to me saying "I'm sorry, where are my manners? My name is Misty and I'm the gym leader to this town" I shook her hand and she only emanated even more positive vibes, she was a kind and caring gym leader and that showed with every action that she did. She seemed dignified as a gym leader and more than a little profession, she truly deserved to be a gym leader. "Where can I help?" I asked and she looked to Bill. "Well, we seem to have the parts we need, we're just piecing it together" Misty answered with a smile.
"My name is Bill and right now we're working on the pokemon transference system, trainers putting their pokemon into the pc and storing them there" Bill introduced himself and it felt as though I spent a long time with them in this short amount of time. We were constructing the system and I was helping bill working on the programming, working on the programming language that to Misty seemed like another world. But to me and Bill, it was like staring at something so familiar that we didn't need time to think about what we were seeing. We spent hours working on it and we finally managed to assemble the pieces we needed together, working with them felt great and Bill suggested "you seem to know what you're doing, how would you like to meet the team? We just met recently but we're working on making this system to be more globally accessible" it sounded like a great offer so I decided to take it, Misty seemed pleased by this and returned to her gym. A challenger approached and enter, so she couldn't stay with us"
We had been working on computers for a few years, by this point I had reached fourteen and Bill along with his team had trust in me to do my job well. It was like an apprenticeship doing what I liked and getting money for everything I needed. Bill asked "Josh, you've been here for a while, do you think you'll stay with us or do you think you're needed elsewhere?" I thought about it and showed him my current team. I had a Charizard, Chansey and Haunter. I answered "I guess id wanna be the best, not the best trainer but the best me and I want to help the pokemon world using technology to advance us into the future" Bill seemed impressed by my answer and nodded. "Sounds like as good an answer as any, you'll be great. Just got to keep practising and remember to cherish your pokemon" its like my pokemon gave off a vibe where they hunger for adventure and I think we all could see it on my pokemon faces. "well we decided that you need to go on your adventure" I was surprised by this and Bill continued " we've advanced things as much as we can here and we feel its best if you go exploring for yourself and your pokemon" he gave me a pin that had the pokeball on it, a pointless button where the pokemon would be called in, it had no function but was therapeutic to press. He continued "you'll always be a pokemon researcher and that pin is to prove it, when we need you, whether its for new tech testing or a battle to fight. We'll call on you to return to us here" they also gave me a laptop, I called my pokemon back and had smiled to their gifts. Though no longer working from an office like this, I could keep in contact with them via the laptop and even continue my work on the go. They thought things through and made sure that I was still a valued member of their team.
In the months that followed, I went on conference calls with Bill and the team, talking about new and inventive ways that we could continue to advance the technology to assist other trainers with their travels. I was later given the pokedex from Professor Oak, he had heard from Bill that I had helped the most out of the team and that the pokedex wouldn't be in better hands than mine. I continued to catch pokemon and develop more of a trust and bond with each and every one that I had caught, even going as far as to somehow win a contest where the grand prize was a dratini. Through it all, me and my pokemon became friends, best friends and now I can no longer see myself going into any battle or challenge any foe without them by my side. We travelled around, what seemed like, the world together. I worked as hard as I could with Bill and the team from across the regions along with the us developing those new pokedex's. some chose the new look while others decided to keep the older look but with the memory story of the newer models. We made great friends on the way, new people we can talk to about the tech and people we could expand trades with for new parts and other essentials needed for both trading and advancements. Things are looking up and even with the training, we still find time to relax between everything. I couldn't decide if I felt better outside, where the wild pokemon could just be themselves and be curious around me or inside of an inn where we didn't have to worry so much about the food. Everything just felt too good and was happy with the outcome either way.
