AN:

Hey gang, we're starting in on the first mission.

I tried to do research on the White Rabbit character. All of the wikis were very bare bones. This girl gets less love than Haru in the comics it seems. She pops up in one or two arcs than poof! You never see her again. Shame really, she looks like an interesting character to add more depth to. So I hope you like what I do with her in the story. Like Haru, I hate it when good characters don't get their deserved screen time.

I've spent the last week doing research on the characters. I want to get this right, it was exhausting but worth it. I have big plans in store, while all the Tarots aren't being shown in this arc a good chunk well be.

All thieves have 3rd rank personas. Doing research for Batman I was reminded of how much of an unstoppable force he is. The thieves need all the help they can get.

Guest: Yeah. I'm using Alice for Hatter, you don't turn away a dish on a silver platter after all. I have plans for his palace as well. It'll be fun writing the Hatter's reaction to Alice. Thank you for the support! :3

Enjoy!

Panessa Studios

Rain

"I found the vehicle Joker. It seems to be heading into Panessa Studios" Queen checked in with the rest of the team. Their first night was going slow. Fox checked into the hat shop in the Bowery and came up with nothing to show for it. She figured as much, it was much too obvious a hideout for someone called the "Mad Hatter" to have. All Futaba came up with in the reports stating that years ago it was held up by the man. It seemed to be where he first started, but Fox scrubbed the place up and down and found no clues to their whereabouts.

"Roger, keep your distance for now. We can't risk getting spotted. For now fall back and work on the quadrant. We'll work out an infiltration method for the studios later." Joker answered.

"Understood, Queen signing off" she ended the call and jumped off her vantage point on the glass dome she was perched on. If this was a hideout for Batman it was huge. She wondered how one person could afford so much land. Additionally, the military-grade car he drove left a lot more questions to consider just where Batman got all of his funding. Even with the Nav as a possibility, the sheer amounts of cash needed for all his equipment is staggering.

She thought all of this as she made her way to the Cauldron, hoping to find clues for the Hatter heist and perhaps a lead into the police while she was on it.

The rain sent shivers down her spine, but she pushed through it and adjusted her attire's scarf. She worried about Panther, her outfit gave even less protection to these hard elements.

"Mr. Wayne our scanners are showing an intruder on the cameras near the studio grounds. Be advised, I think we need to up our security for more of a perimeter. I would hate for the grounds to be compromised" Lucius Fox called into the Batmobile. He was asleep but was on call for anything Bruce needed, when he got an alert on his phone that a silent alarm was tripped. He got up from bed, much to his wife's dismay, and called his boss.

"Thank you Lucius, get some rest. I need one of us awake for the board meeting tomorrow" Batman answered making his way into the studios, the still laughing nuns in tow. He made sure to soundproof the passengers seats long ago.

"Right, thank you sir"

Batman lifted the nuns one at a time into the medical pads he had installed in the studios. The Batcave used to be used for this, but with the purchase of the studios a much better medical bay was installed closer within the heart of the city. It also made for a much more extensive training ground, each stage simulating combat and predator scenarios. Speaking of which…

"Batgirl to Med Bay" Batman commanded.

NANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANA

"HAAH!" Cassandra Cain slammed her leg into the robotic projection of a thug. It sent him hurling into a group of three others, she threw herself towards them fangs bared in anger. She escaped the League of Assassins five years ago, with Batman taking her under his wing. She had proven herself to him as willing to change her ways in the pursuit of justice. The eighteen year hold swore to fight against everything the League stood for. She would never be the weapon of destruction they wanted her to be. Never be ordered around by those she hated so much.

While finishing off the three robot projections, a random one sprung back to life. These combat simulations were randomized to help hone her skills better. The robot swung a chair at her but she countered with a swift dodge and a sweep of her leg, tripping the bot. She promptly went for a finisher and broke its arm finishing the fight. She panted from the exertion, it was a twenty to one battle when she started, and she needed a cooldown. It was a slow night with her putting a local larceny gang behind bars, she figured she would spend the rest of the night to strengthen herself.

As the simulation ended she got the call from Batman. She stretched her form and exited Stage A, the dust settling on the western fight.

Batman took her in when she was aimless and alone. Homeless and starving, but refusing to be used by that demon of a mother she had. Bruce didn't even know about that when he took her into his huge mansion, out of the freezing snow that winter had brought. And when he did find out, when her resolve broke, showing the abused little girl underneath, he didn't bat an eye. He took her into the cave and gave her purpose. A way to vent against all the rage and betrayal she felt, and a way to help people with the skills she learned that were meant to harm. She never forgot that cold night he scooped her into his arms. The memory brought back her promise to never rest until the debt she owed was paid. She'll fight for her surrogate father until the day she died.

"Yes Sensei?" she asked professionally. She ever did call Bruce her father. She was too strict for that...too broken. She shows her love in her willingness to fight for him, the only way she knew how. She was already decked out in her suit and ready to fight. All she needed was direction.

"We had an intruder on these grounds tonight, I want you to track them and ascertain their motives. I need to stay here and tend to these women." Batman answered, typing into the Batcomputer, finding the tapes of the intruder.

"Think it's the League?" she asked. They had their run-ins before. Lady Shiva and Nyssa al Guul were ruthless in their pursuit to take them down.

"No. Too sloppy, the attire doesn't fit either." Batman said, he zoomed into a freeze frame of the tape. It revealed a younger woman in what seemed to be biker gear. Her metal mask shows bright red eyes. She was crouching, hiding behind one of the dome lights before making her leave. She was good, but should have been more observant.

Batgirl narrowed her blacked out eyes. They had to be about the same age.

"Roger, I'll find her and make her stop this. We don't need wannabes on the street sullying our name." Batgirl bowed before making her leave. The girl had spirit sure, but she won't last a night in Gotham. Too many have tried to replicate their mission, and too many have died due to their stupidity. She'll give her a stern talking to, and who knows? Play her cards right and Sensi might take yet another lost child in.

Cassandra smirked at the thought as she rode up the elevator. Sensi can be such a softie sometimes.

The Cauldron

Rain

Queen made her way down to the Cauldron. Jumping roof to roof as she searched for clues. The team agreed not to use Personas outside the Metaverse unless absolutely necessary, they wouldn't leave crimes unpunished. But they also didn't want to kill people accidentally. She could never live with herself if that was to happen. She made her way down a fire escape when she heard loud gunshots in an alleyway across the street, she narrowed her eyes and ran towards the sound. Even if she was brought here against her will, she promised to uphold the justice her father and sister taught her.

"STOP RESISTING!" shouted Officer Mack, shooting at the criminals. There was a call about a robbery at a local gas stop so he made his way to it. The moment he got there guns started firing, the windows being blasted out. He noticed the cashier was dead. Bastards…

"EAT SHIT PIG!" shouted one of the men. There were two thugs shooting at him, and one got a lucky shot in the chest. He screamed in agony, hitting the side of his car and sliding down. He was still alive but that hurt like hell.

"NOOO!" screamed Queen, running out of the shadows towards the two men.

"The hell's this bitch?!" yelled one thug.

"Who cares KILL HER!" yelled the other.

"You'll pay!" she shouted, running up to them kicking one thug in the face before he could pull the gun. The guy knocked back and reeling, she then punched the other guy in the face, using his dazed state to get around and put him in an arm-lock and throw him into his buddy. They grunted out in pain before she pulled her finishing move, pulling down her white gloves as she prepared.

"Oh, my head…" one drooled out before she knocked the two of them out. Queen released a breath, turning to the officer and ran towards him, crouching down to his level."

"Woah, you showed them," Mack said before coughing out blood.

"Sir are you ok?" She was concerned, his chest was bleeding pretty bad, she worried that it might have punctured a lung.

Mack coughed more and more violently. "They got me good. I don't think I'm going to make it." He said grimly, he called in for backup during the fight but he doubted they would make it in time.

"No…" she said. She was too slow, another would die by her uselessness.

Wait… no, no. She shouldn't, but every fibre of her being called to do it.

"Are you going to let this man bleed on the street? Have you forgotten your promise?!" her persona Agnes challegened harshly.

"NO! NEVER! AGNES, DIARAHAN" she thought, tears streaming down her eyes. "You're going to be okay sir, just...please don't freak out." her hands glowed blue as the healing spell did its work. Agnes didn't make her form known, she knew that revealing herself right now would ruin things, but that didn't mean she couldn't lead her ward her power.

Mack was shocked, the bullet wound was sealing itself up. He's heard up metas before, but never really experienced something like this. The bullet dug itself out and fell to the ground, the wound closing, his lung healing. He took a long breath unhindered by the pain.

"What-what are you?" Mack asked. His uniform was stained but he rather than be dead.

"I-I'm sorry I couldn't let you die." Queen awkwardly apologized.

"No, I'm sorry. You saved my life, and I was rude. Thank you. Who are you?" he asked politely. He noticed that she was younger, maybe he could get more out of her by being polite.

"N-nobody. You should be okay sir, it'll still bruise a bit but you'll live another day. Goodbye!" she hastily made her leave. She cursed herself for revealing power like that, but she couldn't let that man die. He was a good man, who probably had a family at home.

Mack watched her leave, still sitting on the ground reeling on what just happened. Sirens filled the air, closing in on him. Another officer rushed out of his car towards him.

"Mack! Are you alright what happened?!" The officer crouched down eyeing the bloodstained uniform.

"T-There's another vigilante in town. A meta...She saved my life." Mack said. It was always hard to confirm those claims, but his body cam should help in terms of evidence.

NANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANA

Batgirl watched as the girl ran away. She caught the tail end of the fight, otherwise she would have jumped in to save the officer. Speaking of which, the man clearly suffered a fatal wound. The girl healed it. That wasn't good, Batman hated metas in his town, especially heroic ones. The bat-family is supposed to be a symbol of how normal people can stop the supervillains of the world. That said her intentions were good, the way she threw herself at the thugs in anger. Showing exceptional skills in Akiko, and body language that showed genuine concern. The girl would make a good ally, but not in Gotham.

"Batman, I have recordings of the spy. Turns out to be a meta with a hero complex, sharing footage now" Batgirl stated.

"Good work. Follow her and try to obtain her identity." Batman answered.

"Roger" she started pursuit of the new face in town. Knowing Batman, the instant she found a name and address he'd scope in and give her the whole dark knight routine. He was a very paranoid man, and for good reason.

Morgana twitched his tail in annoyance listening in on two bozos having a conversation. He could feel his mind melt as they went on and on about nothing in particular. When he tracked two shady looking guys into a dark alleyway, he figured they would have something interesting that would lead him to new intel. Joker decided to split up to cover more ground. There was no such luck, he laid down in the fire-escape he was hiding in, preparing for a quick cat nap before finishing his rounds. Sleep was very important after all. Before he could fall asleep a familiar glowing blue butterfly flew up to him and landed on his nose.

"Brother, I must discuss something with you," Lavenza said before flying up to the roof leading them to a more private location. This better be good, he hates it when someone interrupts his slumber.

On the top of the roof Lavenza made her true form known looking down to the cat in a kind manner, he was so cute when he was annoyed.

"What is it?" Morgana asked.

"Well, I wanted to discuss something with you alone. It's about how your speaking works in this world." Lavenza stated.

"Yeah, I guess it's good to detail how I should go about it, if someone could hear me in my meta form, they would hear me in cat form then as well right?" He asked for clarification.

"Under normal circumstances yes, but I think it would be an inconvenience for some random thug to suddenly understand you after one fight, so I asked Master to change the rules a bit." Lavenza explained.

"Okay how does it work?"

"Well it is complicated. The way it now goes is just because you fight someone in the meta form doesn't mean they can understand you as a feline. As long as they don't see you transform, you'll be able to go back into cat form and they'd be none the wiser. But should you wish you can allow others into your secret I know how much you like taunting your prey after all. " Lavenza smiled.

"Uh huh" Morgana responded, eyes half-lidded at his sister's lame attempt at a joke.

"That is really it brother. Sorry I didn't tell you this sooner but, with everything that has happened the prisoners are being more and more viscous. I've never seen anything like, they struggle more and more against their chains than they ever have before. I fear an escapee might get out."

"Wait what? How is that possible, how can beings that are just subconscious depictions escape to the real world? I mean aside from Yaldabaoth and Maruki that hasn't been done, are you telling me that Joker is reaching to that kind of level?" Morgana asked.

"I am afraid I am not sure. It could be that with the changes the god Bat-mite made to your powers has taken effect on the Velvet Room as a whole. It is as if the shadows are gaining sentience in their unyielding desire to help their wards. Such a thing has never happened before. They want the blood of Bat-mite and are relentless in their anger towards what happend with their Trickster. I can't help but relate, but I must hold them back, lest it undermines all the work you have done."

"Maybe we can use this, use them, we could have more strength in more numbers." Morgana suggested.

"*giggle* your leader said the exact same thing. I worry what may happen as a result though." Lavenza looked to the side in worry.

"We'll figure it out as we go I guess." Mona sighed.

"We currently do not have the means to break the chains of a persona, we're working on it but it might take some time. Our power is still regaining." Lavenza said.

"Just let us know when it is ready. Joker will probably work out a way to use them to our advantage by then." Morgana stated.

"Yes, he said the same. It will have undeniable risks but, as you said, the more power you have the better." Lavenza acknowledged before turning back into her butterfly form and vanishing.

"Sheesh why does she have to be so mysterious all the time?" Morgana rolled his eyes at his sister's antics. They never got much time together, but they both knew they would do anything for Joker. And that makes them family enough in his book.

Morgana went back to working his quadrant, the thoughts of an escaped persona keeping his mind awake.

Diamond District

Rain

Panther was making her rounds in the Diamond District. The rain poured down on her revealing suit, she should be shivering. But she guessed her fire skills keep her warmer from the elements. That was weird, her personas never did that before. Maybe she gained a new skill or something. She couldn't complain about it though as she made her way down the street via her whip, Sumire was kind enough to offer her basic arobic lessons with her coach. She's nowhere near her level but she got a handle on the basics to be more agile.

She yawned, it was getting really late. They have been looking for clues of the Hatter with no luck. Not to mention, the team looked throughout the city during the day. She was exhausted, she figured she'd head back to the cafe and rest up. She'd be no help to the search falling asleep on the flooded streets after all.

Just as she landed in an alleyway a figure approached her.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here? What a beauty!"

Panther turned to the sound. She knew that tone, people always perved her normally. In her panther outfit, she knew it would be even worse. But it usually wasn't from a female voice.

"Hatter will be pleased! Look at you! So young so perfect! Would you like to come and have some tea?" She asked huskily, revealing herself. Ann thought her outfit was ridiculous, but this lady took the cake. The woman strutted out the shadows, revealing her lace up corset with a choker, showing huge cleavage. Long gloves and boots covering her body. But no pants, instead just pink underwear with a bunny tail sticking out the back. Long white hair soaked in the rain, bunny ears sticking through it. A pink mask covered her face but showed her hungry pink eyes and pink lipstick. Skull and Mona would die on the spot seeing her.

"Tea?" Panther asked, getting in a defensive stance. The lady mentioned a hatter, was decked out in a white rabbit costume, and asking to have tea? Panther narrowed her eyes.

"Yes. Please come with us! We'll have so much fun together." the woman oozed out. Could she get more suspicious?

"And if I politely decline?" Panther asked tersely

"I must insist. BOYS!" the woman called out, and a gang of men wearing bunny masks surrounded her.

"GET HER! Master needs a new toy!" The woman states licking her lips seductively.

The mob rushed her, she whipped up to the nearest fire escape and climbed up to the roof. She made a mad dash. The woman in hot pursuit, Panther made the call.

"Crow! I'm heading to the Coventry! I'm being chased by a lady in a white bunny outfit! She wanted tea! You know what it means." she pressed.

"I'm on my way. Try not to get captured." Crow said passive aggressively.

Panther gritted her teeth at the comment. He didn't always have to be such an ass, but she knew he would come through. But this crazy chick was fast as hell.

"No no! You're supposed to chase me Alice! Why won't you have tea with me?" the woman pouted teasingly, gaining on the thief.

"My name's not Alice! Now leave me alone psycho!" Panther shouted back at her trying to get away.

"Names can be easily changed deary. Just like we would have to change that hair. And that outfit of yours! Quite revealing for a young lady!" The White Rabbit shouted back.

"You're one to talk!" Panther was stalling. Crow better get here soon, she didn't have much energy left in her. But these guys had another thing coming if they thought they could undress her.

"Oh~ Such fire! Hatter will have to fix that!" she retorted, gritting her teeth as she pounced pinning Panther to the roof of a building. Holding her wrists down as she struggled, pinning her legs with hers.

"Let go of me! Before you get burned!" Panther threatened, she had enough of this. Screw not using her persona, she was not going to be an object to another man. Never again.

"MMmmm~ such bright blue eyes! That mask is going to have to go though. You're no Cheshire cat are you now Alice?" White Rabbit stroked Panther's face. As much as she loved to tease she needed to get that thing off. Hatter liked the face to be laid bare. She went for it about to unmask the girl, when she felt the barrel of a gun to the back of her head.

"You have one chance, tell me where the Hatter is." Crow said coldly looking down at the woman.

"Crow!" Panther shouted in relief, she knew he wouldn't kill her. Unless it was his last resort, they needed answers and the opportunity for them just jumped at them

"Ah! A friend Alice? I don't recall ever meeting such a cold crow." White Rabbit stated undisturbed by the gun to her head. "I guess you still have some fight in you. Can't have that… night night." she headbutted Panther knocking her out.

Crow was shocked but didn't show it. This woman clearly didn't have any concern for her own life. She got up and turned to him with the gun still pointed at her.

"My, what a fun outfit! I need Alice to come with me, would you kindly fly away?" her eye twitched rapidly in a crazed manner. Crow noticed this along with how glassy her eyes were. He has seen this in battle before, this woman has been brainwashed somehow. He had an idea, he pulled out a brainwash vial and threw it at her. She tried to evade but her speed did not help with Crows accuracy.

"W-what? Are you new to the gang or something? Hatter's always bringing new meat." she said sluggishly. Crow's hunch was right, White Rabbit was confused who her enemies were right now, the vial had worked. He smirked and began questioning.

"Now, I'm new to this gang. Would you tell me why you're going after this young woman" he asked.

"Huh? Hatter didn't tell you? We're supposed to take anyone with blond hair and blue eyes. He loves them, he needs them." She answered hazily.

"Why?" Crow pressed.

"He-he just loves them. Wants them to be his Alice. We were curious about all these missing people. I… looked into it, and...something, something..." she grasped her head in pain, the hypnosis was taking its toll on her brain.

"Don't strain yourself. Where is the boss, I have important news for him." Crow changed the subject. If he pressed too hard on certain things it might break the spell. He supposed what he did to the people was evident in the person he was interrogating. What he needed was a location.

"Really? No way! He's at… the Red Rose club. He'll want to… meet with you right. Anything I can do to help… help…" She strained. She was clearly trying to tell him to help her. That last word was practically her begging.

"Don't worry. Forget this ever happened, go back to the club for the night, and fall asleep" Crow said.

"O-Okay…" said sluggishly and made her leave. Whatever hypnosis the Hatter uses is very powerful to stop someone with such will. She jumped off the roof and made her leave. He would follow her, but he had the unconscious Panther to worry about.

"At least it's something." he sighed as he picked up her limp body, there had to be a bruise on her head. It'll heal fine but everyone will be pissed at someone taking a swing at her. He sighed making his way to the cafe.

"Everyone Panther is hurt, but alive. But I have a lead on the Hatter. Let's regroup." Crow

"IS SHE ALIGHT?!" Mona yelled concernedly. Crow rolled his eyes, such a suck up.

"She'll be fine." he pressed. Some things never changed.

Park Row

Rain

Skull was working his rounds in the Park Row. Joker was right this place is freakin' nuts. Dealers everywhere, guns and hookers littered the streets. So many homeless people laying down under makeshift cardboard houses. He was disgusted at the state of the place, Crime Alley sure did live up to the hype. He stopped all the crime he could, he promised not to use his persona, and honestly it was easy not to. He hated to admit it but Mona was right, these guys weren't the sharpest tools in the shed. They all fumbled guns whenever he made an appearance, expecting Batman but not losing any terror due to his lack of subtlety. The last one before the call-in shocked him the most.

He was no older than twelve, holding a gun to a terrified couple. The starvation evident in his eyes and bony body. He was terrified of the gun himself, Skull could tell from how hard he was shaking it.

"COME ON! GIVE ME YOUR MONEY!" the boy shouted pointing the gun at them.

"Please, don't shoot!" Screamed the man holding an arm out, protecting the woman.

"I want your money, not your life! Now cough it up!" the boy shouted. Before things could escalate further Skull jumped in, kicking the gun out his hand and pinning the kid to the ground.

"Aggh! The hell!" screamed the boy, the couple ran off into the night to safety. Skull watched them go but kept the boy pinned.

"Who are you supposed to be? One of Batman's lackeys? Or maybe a recruiter for Black Mask? Either way screw off!" The boy shouted.

"Neither! Look man, why's a kid like you holding up people? You look like you can barely hold the gun!" Skull shouted to him.

"I ain't got a choice! The orphanage never has enough food for all of us. They only feed the suck-ups while leaving the rest of us to die!" the boy gritted out.

"For real?! Why not go to the cops?" Skull asked

"You must be new here. Cops don't care, the ones that do are turned away by the headmaster's act. He acts like a saint in front of them. Says even with Wayne's kind contributions, it's not enough to feed all of us. It's bullshit! We all know Wayne, the one thing he hates seeing is orphans suffer. Has a massive soft-spot for them on account of being one. I think the headmaster is using it for that pretty car of his." the boy said.

Skull gritted his teeth. Those bastards will pay! "What's your name."

"Hm? It's Joey. What's it to ya!?" Joey answered rudely.

"Joey. What orphanage is this? Whose in charge?" Skull asked politely.

"It's the Pinkney Orphanage, the one in Bristol. Asshole's name is Oliver Jones. What are you gonna do? You're no Batman, and the cops don't take kindly to new vigilanties. Jones will just get away anyway, got ties to people. Anyone who tries to turn him in disappears, lost a lot of friends that way." Joey looked to the ground saddened.

"Let me worry about that. Here." It was much but Skull handed him fifty bucks. Hopefully it'll help. "Use this to feed as many as you can. I'll take care of Jones."

Joey looked down at the money. He's gotten more before, but it'll help feed the little kids tonight.

He looked up to the strange guy with a skull mask, unable to comprehend his kindness. "What's your deal? No one just gives away money here." He asked unsure.

"I'm not most people. I'll stop him just you wait!", call me Skull." Skull said cockily. He needed to spread the word somehow.

"The hell does that mean?! You better not be giving me false hope! I hate it when people do that!" Joey scowled at Skull.

"Just...wait. I promise to take care of this. In the meantime promise me… to stay out of trouble?" Skull asked.

"No promises until ya prove yourself!" Joey yelled.

"Good enough" Skull cringed. He hoped away leaving Joey to walk back to the orphanage telling everyone about the weird shit he saw tonight.

Skull lept to the roof getting the call that Panther was injured, he gritted his teeth and made his way to the cafe. Hopefully everyone will be understanding about how he went about this. He promised to keep his mouth shut, but when he looked in Joey's eyes his resolve broke. That kid needed something to believe in. The whole damn city did.

Chinatown

Rain

Queen was making her to the cafe, the whole group had to make sure Panther was alright. It was getting late anyway. She rushed towards Chinatown, when she gained an uneasy feeling stopping her in her in her tracks. She narrowed her eyes as she searched.

"It seems we have a stalker on the roof tops my dear. Look upward." Agnes said to her.

She widened her eyes at that. Her persona never helped her in that manner. Tonight was one of the few times she spoke since she awakened, she noticed quickly after awakening a persona that it was mostly quiet, lending their silent support. She would worry about it later, she looked upward spotting a bat-like figure.

"Come out and face me if you're so interested." Queen said annoyed at being followed, it seems she got too reckless with the spying on Batman. She cursed to herself, Skull would never let her live it down.

"Oh. Seems you're more observant than expected, fine then let's talk" Batgirl dropped down to the empty alleyway revealing her bat costume.

"Who might you be? I only heard of a male bat vigilante." Queen asked.

"He doesn't have time for a rookie like you. You're good, but you need sharper eyes." Batgirl challenged.

"I admit, I do need to work on that. Then again how can I expect to beat a man with so much resources." she challenged back.

"Hmph. What are you doing in Gotham?" Batgirl asked coldly.

"That is none of your business." Queen said, staring her down.

"It's my business when a new meta steps in on Batman's turf. He has a strict policy, either you're dumb enough to ignore that, or you're motives are not as pure as saving police officers with your powers." Batgirl deduced.

Queen closed one eye in frustration. She saw that huh? No matter she should be able to take her and get out of here.

Batgirl saw her take a more defensive stance, preparing for a fight. She did the same.

"It doesn't have to be like this. Surrender and we might take you under our wing. We don't like uncertainties is all. Once we ascertain your motives we can let you go free and beat all the baddies you want. Just not here." She pressed hoping to avoid confrontation.

"Right. Tell all my secrets, with none of yours in return. I think I'll pass." Queen said.

"You have to earn his trust. Prove to me, to us, that you are not a threat. Turn yourself in for our questioning and I promise you a way to fight for justice. All the resources at your disposal, and a warm bed to sleep in." Batgirl promised.

"I don't need your permission to fight. I respect your tactics, but I could never join you. I worry all the power your boss has goes right into his head. No one owns a city, no one can control it absolutely. What he promises is at best a gang, or at worse a cult. I want nothing to do with either." Queen explained.

Batgirl nodded respectfully as she rushed Queen for a takedown.

Batgirl kicked her stomach and swung around her into a hold against the wall.

"A shame, you're sharp, filled with promise, Batman would have loved to have you as an ally"

Queen tried to fight back, but every punch she tried to throw was countered. She barely managed to get out of Batgirl's hold and landed face first into the ground.

"Give it up. You are skilled in Akiko but are no match for someone who knows multiple martial arts." She humbly bragged.

Queen gritted her teeth, pounding a fist into the pavement creating a small crater from the force. Batgirl took a step back from this ready for another wave. It was clear this girl was holding something back.

"You won't stop me. No one will, I won't rest until justice is served. But I will make my OWN justice and never bend down to yours." Queen shouted, getting up with a hand on her stomach.

"Such arrogance! You can barely keep up with me!" Batgirl rushed her for another onslaught, yelling a battle cry.

"I don't intend to. Checkmate." Queen said darkly, a fire raging in her eyes. Batgirl immediately slowed, not of her own will, but it felt like she was being weighed down by a ton of rocks. She felt exhausted, like all strength left her. Her body clammed up feeling so vulnerable in this soaking rain.

What did she just do?

She couldn't get the question out as a motorcycle appeared out of nowhere mowing her down, with extreme force. She tried dodging, but it was like she was moving in a thick jelly. Her offense turned into the same as a toddler. She was powerless from the assault, as Queen attacked her with a number of physical attacks. She couldn't stand anymore, her energy spent she kneeled on the floor.

"Ugh, the hell was that?" Batgirl gritted out, she couldn't believe she was beaten by such a rookie. She should have been more cautious, the powers didn't stop at healing. She would have to train up against meta forces, and prepare for the next battle. She couldn't stand for this loss.

"Tell Batman, I won't join his little club. That he has another thing coming if he thinks I'll bow down in terror like some common scum!" Queen yelled, revving her strange vehicle off into the distance. Batgirl tried to shoot a tracking device on the vehicle, but her strength was spent. She passed out from the battle.

"Miss Cain do you read, MISS CAIN!" Alfred checked in, worried about the girl. With her lack of response he went to work trying to find her location. Master Bruce won't be pleased losing another ward. He still paid respects to the custom case that held Master Todd's uniform.

Officer Mack was beat. It was a long night but he needed to report what happened.

"Looks like we have another one to watch out for eh Mack?" Cash threw the file back on his desk. Gotham always threw new things at the GCPD. He's been at this for years and had the scars to prove it. Especially his hook hand that replaced his right hand, back when Croc had it for a snack.

"Yes sir, though I doubt she has ill intentions. The lack of the hole in my chest says so." Mack answered. Cash nodded to that, the amount of blood that stained the uniform was evidence enough to prove that. Not to mention, the body cam footage showing such concern for him. Cash knew bad people when he saw them. She wasn't it.

"You don't have to tell me, the way she bashed those thug's skulls like that. We should just keep an eye out. The more help we have the better, just make sure it isn't some long con. I'm assigning you to investigate this vigilante. Now go home, hug your wife, and try not to make her panic about what happened tonight." Cash said.

Mack nodded. His wife must be worried sick his shift ended a while back. He had to go home and assure her she was alright. She was worrying for two now. He was happy at being the head of an investigation, this could mean a future promotion is near!

Mack left the station, with more value in his own life than before, while Cash looked at the footage one more time. Trying to discern with no success who this girl was. He has met the bat family multiple times throughout his career. And none of them looked like this, either Batman has a new ward and has lightened up on metas. Or the more likely choice, she is fresh in the game and doesn't care about the Knight's rules.

He sighed at that, Batman always needed to control the small details in order to keep the myth alive. A single meta doing good like this in Gotham didn't bode well for the future. The villains are bad enough with a normal man, who knows how much they will escalate with a meta hero. He knew Batman couldn't allow that, and hoped the girl would comply, lest she stirs the wrath many in the city fears.

Diamond District, Red Rose Club

White Rabbit walked into the Red Rose. She had no memory of what occured with Crow or Panther. Last she remembered she was chasing some blonde through the alleys, and… She must have got away somehow. Hatter won't be pleased.

"MMph, mmph, MMMPh" multiple people in bindings screamed through taped mouths, begging to be set free. She paid no attention to the new initiates, they would be ecstatic to help soon enough. She made her way to the Hatter upstairs.

"My, my you look so fine my Alice." The Mad hatter rhymed, shaving the beard off of the blonde man. Every blonde before him was not good enough to the Hatter's standard. Whenever he ran out of blonde women, he would try men out of desperation. Gender didn't really matter to the Hatter, that is what the saw is for. It made a mess but it was worth it in finding his dear Alice.

The man he shaved was long dead from the blood loss in the private area. His dead eyes covered in blue contacts, trying to pretend to have pretty blue eyes. His pale skin was starting to rot, ruining the lovely dress he was wearing.

"NO! NO! This one must GO!" he had enough of this one. The men in white masks drag the corpse to hide somewhere. That was the last one of the blondes they had, that girl was their saving grace for a happy not birthday. She looked at the ground in shame.

"Progress report! What's your retort!" He demanded.

"You'll be ashamed at the sight. I was unable to catch your delight" White Rabbit said depressed, the most effective way to keep the Mad Hatter's cool was to speak in rhymes. Even hypnotized, she knew how to please the boss.

"Now, now you'll catch her I'm sure. Bring her to me, the one of such allure " he petted her, much to her delight. Her master could be so understanding. With her energy regained, she rushed out of the room in search of Alice. Ignoring the Indian woman tied up and drooling out in a daze. Her name was Jaina Hudson, she was the White Rabbit. The other side of her coin any way, she had the power to split into two personalities. One was her, the other was the White Rabbit. The Mad Hatter managed to catch them both. In the recesses of her mind, she swore vengeance on the man. She knew the White Rabbit felt the same.

Chinatown, Cafe Leblanc

Rain

Joker made his way to the cafe as quick as he could. He wasn't making any headway in his quadrant anyway. He sighed frustrated, it was a big town so he supposed it made sense not to get things started his first night. He changed back in his winter clothes in a hiding spot, and entered the cafe.

"Oh, you're back." Sojiro said to Akira, the cafe was filled with the sweet smell of its famous coffee and curry. While he was famished, he'd probably save the coffee, the sun was almost up and Morgana would probably nag his ear off about the importance of sleep. Like that million other times didn't stick with him.

"Curry's almost done, have a seat." Sojiro said, stirring his pot. Akira did just that dropping in a chair by the coffee makers resting his head in his arms. "So how was your first night back? Heard Ann has a nasty bump on her head." Sojiro asked.

"Besides that uneventful, Lavenza came to me with new info regarding my powers. So I spent the night trying to apply a plan for that." Akira groaned.

"Lavenza is that short girl who brought the cafe here right?" Sojiro asked.

Akira nodded in confirmation, the news of the unrest of his personas, explained the headache that throbbed in his head throughout the night. When he went to the Velvet Room he saw it with his own eyes. The personas all pounding against the prison bars, screaming to let them out. The red alarm blaring in the whole space.

He shook his head, he'll figure out some way to settle this. Igor gave him a new ability to hold twenty personas. The master of the room wanted him to have as much power as possible. Igor it clear that he would give him the power necessary to beat this "Bat-mite" god. It was just a matter of regaining his power. Two all powerful gods before this new foe didn't help matters.

"Oh hey, there you are," Futaba said making her way downstairs.

"Hey, how's the research coming?" Akira asked.

"No progress with the Hatter. I hacked into the GCPD communications, but they are having no luck. Though they suspect the Hatter is responsible for the majority of missing people in the city." Futaba sighed.

"This is so nuts, I can't believe how we ended up here. How are you guys so calm about it?" asked Sojiro concerned.

"I guess the last year has just left us jaded?" suggested Akira.

"We already experienced a god with reality warping powers. Guess it makes sense for the next boss to be so powerful." shrugged Futaba. The group was interrupted by Morgana busting in the door.

"WHERE IS SHE?!" screamed the cat. The fury in his eyes was unhinged.

"Calm down kitty. Crow is on his way." Futaba chided picking up the cat and petting him.

"I won't rest until whoever did this pays!" shouted the cat shaking off the petting hand.

"But Mona, sleep is very important after all" smirked Akira, he couldn't resist the tease, as much as he loves Morgana. He really plays the annoying younger brother of the team well.

"Oh, you can fuck RIGHT OFF!" the cat hissed.

"Kitty! Watch your language, what would Skull say!" Futaba put him down onto a table squeezing his cheeks together."

"Shuddup!" he tried to sound tough but couldn't with his muzzle being squished like this.

"Your Lady will be fine Prince Charming. She'll be here soon." Futaba tried to calm him down.

"I should have been there for her. It's all my fault." Mona said ashamed.

"She can take care of herself. You know this. Treating her like glass will not win you any favors." Futaba said softly. Morgana looked down in defeat.

"I know," the cat sighed. While he accepted his form as a cat now, it doesn't stop his feelings towards Panther. Ann actually talked to him about it, saying that while a true gentleman, that it just wasn't going to happen. While saddened by this, it won't stop him trying to protect her.

Makoto walked in the cafe soon after the discussion.

"Hello," she sighed. She was exhausted from the past weeks, the confrontation she had didn't help.

"Makoto! The police in your quadrant are going crazy. Saying something about a "Masked Rider" racing through the streets and stopping crime." Futaba pressed.

"I-I'm sorry. I couldn't just let that man die. Also it seems I was tracked by one of Batman's followers. I'm sorry I couldn't control myself, I had no choice but to fight her." Makoto bowed her head, eyes closed in shame.

"Makoto it's alright. If you were about to be captured that's fine, defend yourself. I also agree, never let a man die in order to hide ourselves. We are not letting the pressure of this god corrupt us." Akira said, putting the argument to rest.

"B-but…" Makoto tried to argue, but was interrupted by her leader.

"But nothing. I know you had your reasons, just try to be more careful." Akira stated.

"It's no big deal, really sis. You just got to up your sneak stats." said Futaba

"I know," She said, still a bit down. Haru and Sumire came in at the same time then.

"Oh, hey guys. Any luck out there?" asked Akira.

"No, aside from a random thug here or there I got nothing." Haru said rather worn.

"Sorry Senpai, I had the same issue." Sumire said, eyes downcast.

"I guess we can't expect the Hatter to just fall into our laps. This city is gigantic, rivaling Tokyo, not in population but at least three times the size" said Morgana.

"I suppose you're right. It's just frustrating to not have something to direct my anger towards." Haru slipping out her axe and sliding a finger along the edge. The other hand resting her head in its palm.

Makoto and Sumire sweated at that. Haru always did have a more sadistic side underneath that sweat exterior. Though it rarely showed its head other than dealing with shadows.

"Uh, Haru-senpai you're scaring me again." Sumire meekly said.

"Oh!" Haru said, putting her axe away. "Apologies, I lost my composure." She doesn't like showing that side of herself to anyone, especially since it frightens everyone. Though she has a habit of letting it out whenever she fights, it's a good outlet for quelling her bloodlust.

"What a delightful smell." Yusuke walked through the door, taking in the familiar smells of curry.

"Inari! Did you find anything else that could lead to the Hatter other than his last shop?" Futaba asked.

"Sadly no. I searched my quadrant high and low, with no luck." Yusuke answered.

"This doesn't bode well, our first night here and we have nothing to show for it other than Panther getting harmed." Makoto said.

"Well not true, I heard from some goons that you made quite an entrance Makoto." Yusuke said.

"WHAT! What do you mean?!" she shouted.

"Hmm? Some goons were talking about a girl in rider gear on a quote "sick" bike was that not you?" Yusuke asked blankly.

"Wow. Word sure travels fast in this town." Futaba said.

"Mako-chan it is fine! I heard about how you saved an officer's life. I would have done the same." Haru tried to comfort the embarrassed girl.

"Makoto-senpai, I also heard a brawl went down with a girl called ''Batgirl". Did you gather any more information about their operation?" asked Sumire.

"*sigh* Not much except they are extremely territorial over the city. The woman all but threatened me to leave town directly. She tried to recruit me if you believe it, on the grounds I told her all about myself and fight for justice somewhere else. What arrogance! Who do they think they are? Turning away help like that? This city is drowning in its own corruption, and they are worried about who gets to punch which thugs? It's disgusting! I politely declined and she threw the first punch. It was like punching air, I could have never landed a hit without my power." Makoto confessed.

"Sounds like these guys mean business. I've heard through some guys that Batman is even fiercer when it comes to battle. It sounds more and more like a bedtime story to scare kids into behaving as the stories go on. I mean no one man can take out a hundred men right?" Mona asked.

"I have reports that confirm the stories. Hundreds of arrests in one night, the rooms investigated littered with unconscious men. Broken bones, guys hanging upside down from perches. I've heard of some of the more unlucky end up paralyzed from the assault. The nightmares of what the bat did haunting them for the rest of their days." Futaba said darkly.

"F-Futaba please, stop trying to scare me. I'm already on edge enough from fighting that woman" Makoto trembled. She had always hated ghost stories, an account of a true one didn't help her heart rate.

"Sorry Queen. I wish I was making this stuff up. It seems the man we're being pitted against is world renowned for being Gotham's boogeyman. A man who while is known not to kill, is otherwise merciless in his quest for his justice." Futaba continued.

"FOR REAL?! Are you kidding me?! What about the cops?! Why aren't they stopping this psycho?!" The group was shocked by Ryuji, he had made his way in the cafe a while back while Futaba was telling her story.

"AAAHH! Ryuji! N-never do that again!" Makoto glared at the boy angry because of his habit of rushing in screaming.

"Ryuji-senpai, that was so mean!" Sumire said, her legs quivering in terror.

"Do that again, and I'll chop you down GOT IT?!" Haru shouted, the whole group looking at her in shock.

"S-sorry. You know how get when I'm mad." he said, scratching his head.

"Dumbass you scared the girls!" Shouted Morgana.

"I said I was sorry. DAMN!" Ryuji shouted at the cat they had their usual spat when Akira stepped in.

"Enough both of you! Don't make me ground you guys again!" Akira said, stepping between the two.

"S-sorry Akira." they both said. They always did this even after the whole fight during the Okumura heist. Akira laid some ground rules, if they couldn't get along then no thieving for the both of them. He couldn't risk another divide in the team like that. They already needed a day in the corner during the Shido heist. The death of Akechi was a stab at the whole group, and the way they grieved was to get at each other's throats. The only solution Akira had was to sit them down for a day and let them cool off. They had to send that calling card soon at the time. But he needed everyone at their best to bring down that crooked politician.

"You grounded them before?" Sojiro chimed in. He usually stays silent during meetings like these. He had no expertise when it came to this stuff, but chimed in whenever he had something to say.

"Sometimes it's the only way to stop their bickering." Akira sighed.

"A-anyway, to answer Ryuji's question. The cops have a reputation of being inept in this town. What Makoto said is true, this city drowns in corruption. There have been endless scandals surrounding cops being bought out for looking the other way while gang violence runs rampant. There have even been reports of cops outright joining the gangs, seeing how they paid more. There are limited amounts of officers working in this town as is without that taken into account. The few honest people fighting for justice here seem to be dead in the street in no time, sometimes the families of the men killed for sick fun." Futaba continued on, filling the room in silence once more.

"I only have two people that have proven time and again to be honest in this hellhole. The Commissioner Jim Gordon and his Lieutenant Aaron Cash. Both men have been a shining example for the force, but not without sacrifice. The Commissioner's daughter Barbara was gunned down in her apartment by a madman. Lieutenant Cash's hand was chewed off by a giant lizard guy! I can honestly understand why no one helps them, in this town joining the force is the same as signing your own death certificate." Futaba grimaced.

"Y- you gotta be shittn' me." Ryuji answered shocked.

"I can't… this is too much. How can anyone stand to live here? How many orphans have been made by this twisted town?" Makoto weeped in her hands. Sumire comforted her best she could.

"That reminds me… I ran into a kid tonight holding up a couple. He was more of a skeleton waiting for the Reaper." Ryuji said.

"What?" Haru asked, concerned.

"He said to me… that the orphanage he lives at doesn't feed the kids. Says they only feed the ones who suck up to the headmaster. He had suspicions that they had the means to, but the head wanted a shiny car instead of food for kids. That whoever tries to stop him disappears" Ryuji said.

"What kind of monster embezzled an orphanage?!" Yusuke asked coldly.

"A guy that goes by Oliver Jones. I looked him up in the Nav, he has a shadow in Mementos." Ryuji stated.

"No surprise there. I think I speak for everyone when I say the bastard needs to be taken down. But I fear we might not be able to reach his shadow currently. The public doesn't know about us at all here. I say the calling card should be big for the Hatter, spread the world near and far about just who we are." Morgana suggested, everyone nodded to that.

"I hate keeping that kid waiting, but you're probably right. No one believes in us yet, but we'll show them!" Ryuji pumped his fist angrily.

"Akira, that psychopath I mentioned. The one who shot the Commissioner's daughter. He goes by the name "Joker" as well. Do you think-?" Futaba asked

"We'll find out soon enough," Akira answered.

The cafe door chimed it's bell. Showing Akechi with Ann still in her thieving uniform. Everyone rushed to him, checking on her.

"Give her space, you idiots." Akechi chided them, making room and placing her in the middle booth, resting her head against the wall.

"I'll revive her." Morgana stated using his revive spell to awaken the girl.

Panther's eyes fluttered open, regaining consciousness. The last thing she remembered she was knocked out by some scantily clad woman. She rose up seeing Mona's worried state.

"Ugggh...Thanks Mona." she said petting him. He purred at that.

"It's nothing. How do you feel?" he asked.

"Physically fine. Emotionally… I can't believe I was taken out so easily." She admitted.

"Don't feel too bad, with you out I got more information regarding our target." Akechi said, smirking.

"Huh? Oh… I forgot you said that with all the goings on." Futaba said smiling,

"I think we all did in our concern for Panther." Yusuke said.

"So, spill it. What ya got?" Ryuji asked.

"The reason they were after Panther was because of her appearance, they target anyone with blonde hair and blonde eyes." Akechi answered.

"Yeah, I guess that makes sense. The woman kept calling me "Alice" like she knew me. I can't wait to teach her a lesson!" Ann changed back in her winther attire as she said that, glaring at the detective prince.

"Don't blame her too much. I recognized obvious signs of brainwashing. Whoever that woman was she was not acting of her free will." Akechi explained.

"So he hypnotises people into doing his bidding? How disgusting." Makoto said.

"Hey, yeah the guys who were with her didn't say a word. Just kind of mindlessly obey her every whim." Ann added.

"She must be of higher regard than his other victims. More useful" Mona stated, narrowing his eyes.

"I wonder why that is. It doesn't make sense to put a random woman in charge of operations like that." Sumire pondered.

"She must be skilled somehow. Not skilled enough to fight off his goons though." Haru added.

"My thoughts exactly. However, that woman said she was curious about the massive rise of the missing persons cases. She told me herself. She's trying to fight whatever the Hatter did to her. Practically begged to help her. But the hypnosis was too strong. I changed my questioning to the location of the Hatter. She told me he hides out in a place called the Red Rose." Akechi said.

"As in painting the roses red in the book. Of course!" Yusuke said, closing his eyes in satisfaction.

"Nice going Crow! Now all we need is what he views the club as. The cops and the media already know this guy. His name is Jervis Tetch, disgraced psychologist, apparently he was researching the value of hypnotherapy when one day he just snapped. Though reports did say he suffers from severe schizophrenia."

"Well that's two down. But what do you think Mr. Tetch views his hideout as?" Sumire asked the group.

"Uh... I might be stupid for asking this but you think he views it as a wonderland?" asked Ryuji.

"You idiot! It has to be more subtle than that!" Morgana shouted.

"I agree it's much too obvious. Now let's think for a moment and-" Akechi said before being interrupted.

"CONDITIONS MEET! PLEASE COME CLOSER TO LOCATION TO BEGIN NAVIGATION!" Akira's phone blared to the surprise of everyone. The whole room was silent to this revelation.

"Are you serious?" Akechi asked coldly.

"You've got to be joking." Morgana looked to Akira, defeat evident in his face.

"Huh? What were you guys sayin'? Sounds like you guys are overthinkin' things." Ryuji said, smiling cheekily at his minor victory.

"Wow! Skull you sure showed me!" Futaba exclaimed.

"Well, I guess we have a Palace to infiltrate now." Sumire said cheerfully.

"A broken clock is right twice a day it seems." Akechi groaned out.

"WHAT WAS THAT?!" Ryuji shouted, preparing for battle.

"Alright calm down. We have a Palace thanks to Crow, Oracle and Skull. Let's rest up for the night. Find the Red Rose club, and take his heart." Akira said, parenting the rest of the thieves.

"Yes, I suppose it's best to be prepared for what may come." Haru agreed.

"Thank god. I'm so exhausted from all of this. I can't believe I ran into those guys by chance." Ann sighed.

"I don't think it's chance, when it's clear you were being followed," Makoto corrected.

"Oh SHUDDUP! Miss Masked Rider" Ann teased.

"HOW FAST DOES WORD SPREAD IN THIS STUPID PLACE?!" Makoto shouted defeated.

The thieves bantered preparing for battle. May their vengeance be quick on the poor soul that is the Mad Hatter.

"You think she's dead?" A thug said

"Pay you five bucks to figure out." The other offered

"No way man. Have you heard how hard the Bat Bitch hits?" The first thug shivered.

"You hear that? Sounds like a chicken to me." The other laughed.

"Fuck you man. You do it." The first stomped his foot.

"Fuck that, I've heard she broke both of T-bone's legs" The other said

"That was the Joker." The first clarified.

"Oh, really? Shit." The other cursed.

Both men were interrupted by Batman diving violently into one of the men. The force knocked him out instantly.

"OH JESUS!" Shouted the other thug before Batman lifted him up by the throat and pushed him against the wall.

"WHO'S RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS?!" Batman raged out punching the wall inches away from the thugs head.

"It wasn't us. I swear man!" The thug panicked out, not wanting to have more broken bones than necessary.

"THAN WHO?!" Batman screamed, the rage in his eyes somehow showing itself through his whited out contacts.

"Some new chick. Dressed like a biker, wore a weird mask. Never seen her before, PROMISE! They were talking 'bout something when a fight started. That's all I know, promise!" the thug croaked out.

"You better." Batman said before knocking him out cold. He dropped the man and walked over to his ward. He crouched and took her pulse. She was alive. Thank god.

"Alfred, I've found Batgirl. She's alive but hurt badly. I'm taking her to you to stitch up." Batman called into his speaker.

"Oh thank goodness Master Bruce. I feared the worst when I lost contact. Any idea who it was?" asked the butler.

"I think it was that girl who was spying on the studios. She was in the area, and a thug said he saw a fight go down between the two. Batgirl must have underestimated her. She won't get away with this." Batman gritted out.

"Sir, I have reports of a masked woman riding a strange vehicle throughout the Caudron. It seems she saved a police officer's life. I won't speak for certain, but it seems that she is good natured. This fight might have been a misunderstanding." Alfred tried to quell his master's anger.

"We'll confirm this with Batgirl when she comes to. Though I still want to give this girl a talking to." Batman gritted out.

"Of course sir. Just don't sully a chance for a possible new ally over a vendetta." Alfred said.

Batman grunted at that and called for the Bat-wing. He picked up his ward and flew towards a secret cave entrance. Oracle managed to find a cure for the nuns, the two of them now at the precinct for questioning. Knowing Joker's MO this was just a prototype for a much stronger drug. The cycle of his chaos was spinning again. Like always he imagined what would happen if he just ended him. But he shook his head at the thought, Joker wanted him to kill. It would be the ultimate win for him.

Batman knew if he lost himself to his rage and killed. He would never come back from that mentality, and his promise to his parents would be broken. And Joker would haunt him, laughing all the way from hell.

He focused on this newcomer bringing up the police footage of her. He saw the genuine concern for her fellow man beneath that mask. And wondered why such a fight would occur between her and his ward. What does she want? Where did this new meta come from? And what other surprises does she have up her sleeve?
