Chapter 6: Girls Just Want to Have Fun

Alexis sighed as she splashed cold water on her face, staring at her reflection in the lake.

"Where am I? Last thing I remember, I was dueling Atticus back home, then there was this weird light and..."

Alexis shook her head, trying to think clearly. The first thing she needed to do was find Atticus. After that, they could find a way home together.

Just as she got up, however, the water began to ripple, and something began to stir beneath the waves.

"Huh?"

Suddenly, the shape broke the surface, revealing a large Sea Serpent known as a Kairyu Shin. Roaring, it pounced towards Alexis, jaws open and ready to strike.

"Look out!"

Before Alexis could move, she was pushed out of the way by a Blue Haired Woman. As the Kairyu Shin sprung at her, she rose her hands, halting it as she stroked its head.

"It's alright, she is not your enemy. Return to the lake in peace."

Nodding, the sea serpent turned around and sunk back beneath the waves, its anger soothed. Sighing in relief, Alexis walked up to her savior.

"Thanks for the save. How did you do that?"

"Oh, that? I don't know how exactly, but I have the ability to connect with water spirits. I can sense their feelings and put them at ease."

"Wow, thats amazing!"

"Thank you. My name is Eria, what's yours?"

"Alexis Rhodes."

Nodding, Eria picked up her bag and walked off, looking back at Alexis.

"Come with me, my camp isn't too far from here. I don't like to be too far from the water."

A few minutes later, the two of them were bonding over noddles at Eria's camp.

"So you don't know how you got here?"

"No. I was dueling my brother, then this was this weird light, and the next thing I know I'm waking up in some kind of meadow. You haven't seen my brother, have you? He's about this high, long brown hair..."

Eria shook her head sadly.

"No, sorry. In fact, you're the first human I've seen in a long time."

"Oh."

Eria gave her a comforting smile.

"Don't worry, I'm sure he's alright. I've heard from other duel spirits that humans have been spotted in the wilds, perhaps he is one of them?"

"Maybe. Its just, the last time he disappeared...he wasn't quite the same when he came back."

Eria nodded, staring into the campfire for a minute.

"You see, I'm actually looking for someone as well. He wandered off a while ago, and I was looking for him when I found you."

"Oh, is he your brother."

"He's much more than that. Its...complicated."

Alexis nodded, sensing it was a sensitive topic for her.

"Well, why don't we look for them together? I'm sure if we work together we'll find him in no time."

Eria shook her head.

"Thank you, but I need to find him on my own. Although... there is another way you could help me."

"Yeah?"

"Duel me. I wish to become stronger, and the only way to do that is to duel strong opponents. And I can sense that you are a very strong duelist."

Envigored by Eria's words, Alexis nodded.

"Alright, but I won't hold back."

"Good."

A few minutes later, the two stood at opposite edges of the camp, duel disks ready to go.

"Are you ready, Alexis?"

"Remember, no holding back!"

GAME ON!

Eria: 8000

Alexis: 8000

"I'll start things off with the Field Spell Umiruka! At the cost of 400 defense points, all Water monsters gain 500 attack points! Next, I summon Mad Lobster (1700-2200/1000-600) in attack mode. I set one card face down and end my turn."

Alexis nodded as she drew her card.

"A good start, but now its my move!"

"And before you make it, I activate DNA Transplant! Now I choose an attribute, and all monsters on the field become it! And I choose water!"

Alexis raised an eyebrow at this play.

Why would she do that? Now my monsters will get an attack bonus as well.

"Bad move, Eria! Because now I summon Cyber Tutu (1000-1500/800-400) in attack mode!"

"But why? My Lobster has way more attack points than your dancer."

"I know, that's why I played her. When you don't have any monsters weaker than her, she can attack you directly."

"What?!"

Eria's shocked gasp was cut short by a quick kick to the gut, causing her to stumble back.

Eria: 6500

"Not bad, Alexis, but I'm still in this."

"Glad to hear it. I'll set one card face down and end my turn."

Nodding, Eria drew her card, grinning when she saw what it was.

"Got a good card, did you?"

"You'll see later. But first, I'll have Mad Lobster take out your Ballerina!"

Eria's monster charged, claws snapping wildly. Unfortunately for her, Alexis had accounted for that.

"Sorry, but I activate Doble Passe, making your attack a direct attack!"

Alexis cringed as the massive claw pierced her, but she held her ground.

Alexis: 5800

"And now my Cyber Tutu can attack you directly in return."

Eria braced herself as the kick came again, this time only pushing her back slightly.

Eria: 5000

"Good move, Alexis, but now I activate Fissure to make sure you don't pull anymore fast ones on me."

The ground beneath Cyber Tutu opened up, swallowing her whole before closing once more.

"I'll set one monster face down and end my turn."

"Then its my turn, I draw!"

When Alexis saw what card she had drawn, her blood started pumping faster.

"Alright, you wanted my best, now you're gonna get it. I play Polymerization, fusing Blade Skater and Etoile Cyber to summon Cyber Blader (2100-2600/800-400) in attack mode! But it gets worse, because when you have only 2 monsters on your field her attack doubles (2600-5200). Cyber Blader, take out her oversized shrimp!"

After spinning around for a good minute, Cyber Blader dealt a swift kick to the lobster, destroying it instantly (5200-2600).

Eria: 2000

"I'll end my turn there."

Despite being way behind, Eria couldn't help but smile as she drew her card. Everything was set.

"Nice play, Alexis, but you should've attacked my face down."

"Huh? Why?"

"Because now I flip over my face down, Eria the Water Charmer (500-1000/1500-1100)! And when she's flip summoned, I can take control of one of your water monsters!"

Alexis gasped in shock.

"That's why you played DNA Transplant!"

"Sure is, so I'll be taking your Cyber Blader!"

Eria's doppleganger tapped her staff on the ground, sending waves of energy that hypnotized Cyber Blader and coerced her to the other side of the field.

"Don't worry, she won't be staying long, because I sacrifice her to summon Frostosaurus (2600-3100/1700-1300)!"

Alexis stepped back in fear as a massive Dinosaur made completely out of ice.

"Attack her, my monsters!"

Alexis barely had time to shield herself before she was blasted by a beam of ice and a wave of water, respectively.

Alexis: 1700

"I'll end my turn there."

Grunting, Alexis drew her next card. When she saw what it was, her glare intensified.

"This duel is over. I summon Cyber Petite Angel (300/200) in defense mode. And her effect allows me to add Cyber Angel Benten from my deck to my hand. Next, I activate Machine Angel Ritual, tributing Cyber Prima to Ritual Summon Cyber Angel Benten (1800-2300/1500-1100) in attack mode! Take out her Charmer!"

Eria grunted as her copy was destroyed by one swift throw of Benten's weapon.

Eria: 700

"Good move, but next turn I'll win!"

"There won't be a next turn. When Benten destroys a monster, she inflicts damage to your life points equal to your monster's original defense points!"

"What?!"

The chain fan came back around, hitting Eria hard and sending her flying.

Eria: 0000

Alexis Wins!

Grunting, Eria pulled herself to her feet with the help of her staff. She then turned to her opponent.

"Good game, Alexis. I knew you were strong, but man!"

"Thanks, Eria. You're pretty good yourself."

"I'd better go. I need to find him before he gets into trouble!"

"GiGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

"That'd be him!"

"Come on, let's go!"

With that, the two took off, hoping to find Eria's friend before they got into trouble.

A/N: Yes, I know Eria is from World Championship 2007, but come on? A dueling Sea Serpent? Not even GX gave us something that ridiculous, and they had a literal dueling monkey.
