AN: It's me back at it again with another chapter. PTs are about to take Batman by storm.

Do you know what I've just learned? With the accessory add on the Will seeds in P5R were supposed to also show a memory leading to the forming of the palace. Something the palace owner doesn't want others to know so they hide it away deep in their unconscious mind. WHAT AN IDEA! I'm so mad Atlus didn't use it! Now I'm upset I didn't use that on the Hatter. But I'll be sure to add it in with the other palaces. The accessory might be of use as well. I understand why Atlus didn't use them. It would conflict too much with the already established story. If you're curious look up unused persona 5 content. A youtuber by the name of Bainz has been searching through the game files. Huge shoutout to him!

WARNING: This story contains graphic violence, gore, langage, sexual situations/possible Lemons, mention/act of rape, and Bat-mite. If you can't handle it, avert your eyes. The Dark Knight deserves a dark story after all.

I own neither the Persona series or Batman

FEEDBACK ANSWERS:

Guest: Control your anger friend Bat-mite will get his. Thank you for teaching me new words to use however.

Guest: I know some about the guys in P5 Scramble. No spoilers, I'm waiting for it to come to America and be dubbed. I've grown too attached to the dub voice actors. Sophia and Zenkichi won't be in this fic. You're right to be glad they aren't though, if they are good characters that makes them all the more fun to tear down and break.

Calderoneric758: I'll think about adding cool personas from the last games. I only played P5 though, so I'll have to do research. It's an interesting idea for the team to get new personas, but I feel the 3rd tier didn't get enough love. Only 1 month to truly show themselves.

ENDDRAGON369: Such a good question, thank you. Athena I believe will be of great use in the future in regards to Wonder Woman. If you have such a great persona to confront her about the misgivings she might have. Athena is the slap in the face. I really want to stay focused on the PTs in this story. There may be mentions to past games and what they have done, but other than that I think the cast set is more than enough of an enemy to Batman

Blazeblade: As always I thank you for enjoying my little story. Batman will definitely be pissed at Mona when he finds out, but that's far in the future. Selina and Jaina will have a great part in the real life aspects of Gotham and its inner workings.

I won't give much away regarding reluctant villains that have to go back to crime due to certain things or reasons. I'll leave it at this... (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

You already know how I roll. I got a great plan for the chapter ahead.

In regards to the dead cheering them on...Maybe? I don't know man. I like cheese as much as the next guy but man...I'll think about it.

Batman will be furious when he finds out about Bat-mite. Trust me… but for now the PTs are reluctant villains in his eyes. And the best chance he has a t finding out about him.

Oh definitely, as the story goes on and ranks rank up. The PTs will have much more power. Cassandra's alone focuses on their combat ability, so trust Rank 10 with her and they can go toe to toe with the Knight. You think I added Deadshot to just have him sit behind a counter?

I have a much better plan for them.

*Sigh* It seems my third attempt at line breaking is not working either. I might have to use letters and words to separate it. I hoped it wouldn't come to this. But they left me no choice. If the = sign doesn't work, know I've run out of options.

Enjoy!

EDIT: I'm back despite my self imposed break. Gotta finish this thing.

May 7th Night

Severe Thunderstorms

Grand Avenue, Wayne Memorial Gala

The rain poured down on the city, thunder sometimes striking the clouds. This however was all ignored, as the red carpet was rolled out for the charity ball, the elites of Gotham wear driven by their long limos, showing off their extravagant dresses, and pompous natures. The valets of the gala were quick to hold umbrellas over the door of the car so the elites' fancy wear were not sullied by the downpour of rain.

They were led inside to meet an enormous and grand building, the steep and jagged architecture on the outside turning into a warm and inviting ballroom. The high ceilings hold extremely detailed and refined chandeliers. The yellow and white lighting creating a fancy and uptight atmosphere, as each chair, each table, the very paint of the wall...were all the most expensive and high quality. The gigantic windows being covered by long, lavish yellow silk.

The silk hid the dark and gloomy nature of the weather outside, much like the entire building was meant to hide the true nature of its owner.

While it was a ballroom full of tables and ample space for dancing. There was a grand stage for performances, with a full expansive space in front for a full orchestra, who were the best of the best, making sure to keep the gala lively while the servers and bartenders kept the guests fed and drunk. All of this to make them as charitable as possible, while all the money paid for the gala went to the Martha Wayne Fund for crime prevention. Though ironically not a single policeman was in the crowd, only the councilmembers and higher politicians.

Behind the curtain of the stage, was a massive crew of behind the scenes experts who were paid top dollar to make sure that the production was the best looking it could possibly be. In the makeup room stylists worked to make the performer look perfect. Almost an angelic look that defied logic.

"Are we all set?" Violet asked as they worked within her limits. Much to their distaste she refused to remove her mask, saying that her identity was never to be revealed to make sure her art was appreciated. The people working on her chalked it up to performers being eccentric.

"Everyone is in place." Futaba said, typing on her computer to prepare for the big show. She chose to remain at the cafe, the concept of interacting with all those fancy people terrifying her. Her setup was expanded to properly monitor the whole gala.

"Man, I hate wearin' this monkey suit. This better work." Skull complained, tugging on his collar. He held an umbrella out for a particularly smug faced woman. Why did he have to wear such fancy clothes when he was just getting it soaked?!

"We have to look the part honey~. Be glad I can eye your size well." White Rabbit said from her vantage point. Her main goal being to be a plan B to distract if things went south. Also to monitor and give proper advice on how to properly suck up to certain party goers.

"Just make sure no one gives out their name. Anyone asks, it's part of the theme of the masquerade ball. That the manager is super into the theme." Mona said, making his rounds around the building.

"Right." Fox said, adjusting his white feathered mask. He walked people to their table along with Akechi. All tables were bugged for any intel.

"I still can't believe you found a chief, Akechi, She's so nice too." Panther said, as she politely greeted everyone and walked them to their table.

"White Rabbit seems to know more about Azuki than I do. Just make sure no one sees her. Those ears don't come off." Crow whispered as he properly faked his way into the rich people's hearts.

"This place gets weirder and weirder. Just as long as she doesn't compromise us." Queen said as she set up various tables, and then stood at the reception desk.

"Don't hurt her feelings. It's a very sore topic for her." White Rabbit said.

"Hey, uh...I'm right here?" Azuki sweated. She heard the whole thing, in the expansive kitchen. Way clearer and up to date than anything she has cooked with before.

"Oh um. Sorry...your food is very delicious?" Queen tried.

"Yeah, yeah. Can't believe I got wrapped up with you guys. I knew Akechi was shady. What's your group anyway?" Azuki asked.

"No questions remember? And you'll be paid handsomely." Crow said.

"Oh right sorry." Azuki quickly submitted.

"Don't worry about him Azuki-chan. Worry about the food. I will assist you however I can. Though I must admit I'm not that experienced with this kind of food." Noir said, she sweetly took orders and was the picture of politeness.

"How's security?" Akechi asked.

"Tight, these dudes are great. White Rabbit sure knows where to find em'." Ryuji grinned.

"Thank you sir." One sayed

"Dude, with the amount you're payin'? Shit…" The other said.

"The bartender was a nice touch. You know just how I like it White." Selina said, raising a glass.

The bartender walked over and refilled her glass.

"I knew Akechi was crazy, but crashing a gala with Catwoman?!" The baterneder was shocked.

"Shhhh. Be good and the money comes rolling. You should have seen what they gave me. This beautiful necklace was just the tip of the iceberg." Selina said, pleased, playing with the jewelry.

"You know what to do right Miss. Kyle?" Joker asked. He also was dressed to impress, but that was more to blend in until it was his turn to shine.

"Tease him. Got it. I still can't believe you found out his secret so easily. I didn't even need to drop a hint. He's going to be so mad at me though." Selina said.

"Just tell him the truth. That you didn't rat him out." Joker smirked.

"You don't know how deep his trust issues lay. After this, you better make bank with your promise." Selina growled.

"I'm a man of my word. I simply want an audience first." Joker said.

"Relax Kyle. They're not even paying me. I'm just here for the show." Jack Ryder said downing his drink. He was making sure to snatch as much food as possible.

The entire gala was going very smoothly. Not one of the regular party members thought anything was out of the ordinary. Then again, why would they bother to remember the faces of Bruce Wayne's security and wait staff?

NANANANANANANANANANANANANANA

Alfred pulled Bruce up to the event. Bruce hated these things, but had to keep appearances. He had to attend his own event after all.

"Do try to have a good time Master Bruce. I know how uneasy you get when you're not out at night." Alfred said.

"I trust in Cassandra to hold the peace for a couple hours. I just hate the people who attend these events." Bruce said.

"I know. But Bruce Wayne can make just as much of a difference as Batman. All the money raised tonight is proof of that." Alfred said.

"You're right. You're always right." Bruce said as he put on a fake smile and got out of the car.

He walked up to the door and immediately noticed something off.

"Welcome Mr. Wayne. How are things?" A blonde he didn't recognize wearing a feathered mask walked up to him.

"Good Evening. I must admit I don't quite know your names. What happened to James? He's always at these sorts of things." Bruce asked politely.

"I'm afraid James ain't feeling too good. Caught a bad cold ya see." the boy answered.

James laid knocked out in the broom closet, along with the rest of his crew, chief, and management.. They never saw anyone's faces as they were wiped out cleanly and efficiently.

"Don't worry sir. I'll run a tight ship in his absence." The boy said.

Barely out the car and things are already going wrong. Bruce thought.

"I'm sure you will. Just what is your name, son? I like knowing my men." Wayne said.

"Sorry Mr. Wayne. Management really likes putting mystery into his show. I give out my name. I don't get paid. Right boys?" The boy motioned to the other two.

"Yup."

"Sorry Mr. Wayne"

"Ross said that? He always was eccentric. Well stay safe out here you three. Hate to see such fine men go down in the streets." Bruce grinned, through gritted teeth.

"Thank you sir." the boy said.

Bruce walked in the gala. He prepared himself for an interesting night.

He heard the boy call into his walkie-talkie.

"Top dog in the building. Top dog in the building."

He walked up to the waiter's stand. A young woman with familiar bright red eyes stood at attention. Her face too hid beneath a feathered, white mask. A prim and proper waiter's outfit replaced her usual nightly attire.

"Ah! Good evening Mr. Wayne. I'm sure you'll have a nice night tonight. We have quite the entertainment planned." The girl said.

The Phantom Thieves are good. How did they quietly clear out everyone? I don't recognize any of the waiters, orchestra, or security. Bruce thought

"I'm sure you do. Ross doing ok? I know how much this means to him." Bruce said.

"Oh Ross is in quite a state I assure you. Right this way Mr. Wayne I'll show you to your table. Would you rather enjoy the bar first, or try our excellent food?" Queen asked.

Bruce surveyed the room. His eyes landed on Selina casually talking with Ryder. If anyone knows what's going on it's her.

"The bar I suppose, I see a woman I haven't spoken to for quite a while." Bruce said.

"Of course. This table is reserved for you or any company that joins you tonight. Happy hunting Mr. Wayne." The girl smiled before walking away.

His walk was interrupted by a person he loathed.

"Wayne! How's the old butler doing? I have to admit you certainly know how to throw a party!" Falcone said to him, smiling smugly.

"Falcone, pleased to see you join us tonight. Your contribution would help greatly." Bruce said, shaking his hand.

"I wish to be entertained first, Wayne. You still haven't accepted my deal after all." Falcone said.

"You know I never do a deal without Fox. He's the guy you need to talk to." Bruce grinned fakely.

"To think you let some nobody hold the keys to your kingdom. Fine. But I grow impatient." He snapped his fingers and his goons followed him storm off.

"You better not accept that deal. It's only a matter of time before I bring him down. Hate for a friend to be caught in a scandal." Harvey Dent put a hand on Bruce's shoulder.

"Harvey. It's been too long. How's the Hatter trails going?" Bruce asked, relieved to see a friendly face.

"Oh man. You know I don't kiss and tell but. He's singing like a bird, all of those missing cases? In the Bay. He's going down Bruce. And I'm enjoying every second." Harvey grinned.

"What of those under his control?" Bruce asked.

"We don't have the heart to prosecute them. They're free as long as they weren't a goon before." Harvey said.

"Glad to hear it. By the way, I heard that your campaign is going well." Bruce said.

"You should know. You're my main endorser! With our minds and skills Sharp doesn't stand a chance. And Hill will finally get the trail he deserves." Harvey smiled.

"Glad to hear it. Let's meet up sometime soon to discuss politics. There's a great new cafe in town. You have to try it." Bruce smiled.

"If it has your praise it must be some masterful joe. You're not taking me to scare them into a deal are you?" Harvey teased.

"You think too little of me." Bruce smirked.

"Heads to see if you do it?" Harvey asked.

"Not this again. You're too lucky." Bruce rolled his eyes.

Harvey flipped the coin and it landed heads. It always landed heads, dammit.

"Don't feel down Bruce. You'll win someday. See you around." Harvey laughed as he walked off.

Bruce shook his head as he walked over to Selina.

"Come on, tell me… Promise not to squeal" Ryder begged. Akechi was alway keeping out of the loop. It had to be something big, but he had no knowledge what.

"Get out of here, you'll ruin everything." Selina growled. Ryder grumbled as he walked away.

"New boyfriend?" Bruce asked.

"Him? Don't make me laugh. I see you get along great with yours though." Selina teased.

"Where'd you get that necklace then? I haven't heard from you in a while." Bruce said looking at the jewelry.

"It was a gift. Of a joyous new partnership. Ah! They're playing our song Bruce. Care to dance?" Selina smiled.

"Always." Bruce said as he led her to the dance floor. They danced eloquently across the floor, focused solely on each other.

"You always were such a good dancer Bruce. Now is this the part where you interrogate me? Where you pretend to whisper beautiful nothings in my ear?" Selina whispered, laying her head against Bruce's shoulders.

"You're with them aren't you? The Phantom Thieves." Bruce asked quietly.

"I admit it. You caught me red handed." Selina smiled.

"Why? You hate working with others. What makes them different?" Bruce grilled.

"Opportunity. This pretty necklace? A cent in the ocean of riches they promised me. A partnership that has already proved itself trustworthy. You've should have seen the briefcase Bruce. I've never felt so alive." Selina swooned.

"What do they want? Why are they here?" Bruce demanded.

"It's a surprise. A surprise I promise from the bottom of my heart I didn't give them. Enjoy the party Bruce. These kids know how to put on quite a show." Selina looked into his eyes as she said it. The truth let itself known through them. Bruce narrowed his eyes as she stopped the dance and sauntered away.

Bruce stood alone with her words. Whatever the thieves had in store tonight had to be big. He did the rounds of quick conversations, flirts, and polite discussions. He took the time to note every little thing that felt off. The way all the wait staff had similar builds and hairstyles to the Thieves, the way all the cameras seemed to follow every move. He made sure to play the playboy with extra finesse, making sure to draw the difference between him and his alter ego.

The way he saw it the Phantom Thieves were looking for information, as the rich and powerful got more charmed and drunk, they always could get more loose lipped. In hindsight he should have seen this coming. They must have gotten suspicious with how fast Batman tracked them down after the Wayne Tower heist. They didn't have anything concrete but that action alone would be enough for them to draw eyes on him. He simply didn't figure them to be capable enough to pull something to this scale, especially with his security. Alibaba really is something else when it came to that. He can admit that at least.

He could press the button on his watch to alert Batgirl to the current situation. But this whole thing is clearly a show of power, an ego trip of some sort. And when a Rouge's ego trips, they are prone to monologue. And with that comes intel on the enemy. He read these kids well, his last encounter. Killing these people would go against their MO. Why kill what you can change? He'll sit and wait for the words to flow out of their naive mouths.

"We should be on the list. We're very close friends with Bruce." Clark said calmly.

"Yes, please let us through. It's Clark Kent and Diana Prince." Diana said.

"Hold ya horses. We're lookin' ok?" Skull said impatiently as one of the guys went through the list.

"Here they are, boss. VIPs...sorry about the mixup."

"It's quite alright. These things happen." Diana smiled in relief. She almost thought Bruce didn't want them here.

"Sorry 'bout that. Go on through." Skull said, moving out the way.

"Thank you." Clark smiled as he escorted Diana into the building.

"Man, Mr. Wayne sure knows a lot of smokin' hot chicks." Skull said.

"Damn right. She was almost shining in her beauty." One guy said.

"Didn't take you for a poet." Another teased.

"Shuddup" The one scoffed

"Gang, we got VIPs at the Wayne table." Skull called.

"Roger, I'll look into them." Futaba answered, searching up everything she could on the names Skull gave.

NANANANANANANANANANANANANANANA

Bruce was sitting at the table, feeling around for any bugs. He tried to stay subtle, he couldn't give away his position. He came across a bump.

I knew it. Bruce thought. He left it be as friends came to his table.

"Bruce. Haven't seen you in a while. How's Gotham?" Clark said, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"We haven't seen you for a month. We got worried when you missed our last meeting." Diana said, concerned.

"Clark, Diana. It's been too long." Bruce got up and went for a hug between the two. Most unusual for him.

Diana and Clark accepted it. And heard him whisper.

"Eyes and ears everywhere. Staff compromised. Trust no one." Bruce whispered.

Clark and Diana were shocked at this. Bruce was never this on edge unless it was important.

They took their seats around the table. Bruce tapped a finger on the table. Clark used his x-ray vision to find a bug under the table. He looked at the two and nodded.

"As I was saying. It's been to long Bruce. I haven't seen you since the last time I attended a gala. You always know how to entertain." Diana said.

"The Planet needs a new story soon. I wanted to use this as an opportunity to catch up with old friends. Anything new Bruce?" Clark asked.

"We had a break in at the Tower. Had to wipe the whole system. Some newcomers are after me it seems." Bruce replied.

"Oh? What a scoop! We should meet at the manor for an interview. It's been a while since I've seen Alfred." Clark said.

"I've heard you sent Damian to boarding school. How is he doing?" Diana asked.

"He needs to make friends his age. I worry his temper will get the better of him otherwise." Bruce said.

"I suppose you're right. Dick always wondered if you would ever send him to his school." Diana said. A blue haired waiter walked up to the table and bowed.

"Good evening. Sorry to intrude on your conversation. I wondered if you were ready to order." Fox asked.

"Ah! I haven't even looked at the menu. What would you recommend Mr..?" Diana tried.

"My name is like the depths of the sea. Unknown. Welcome to our masquerade ball. I will be your server. Should you need just say "waiter" and I'll be here at a moment's notice." Fox said.

"I think I'll get the lobster." Clark said.

"I'm not hungry." Bruce said.

"Hmmm. The souffle?" Diana said.

"Wonderful decisions. I'll relay them to the chief. They should be done before the show." Fox smiled. The waiter walked away leaving them.

"I fear Wayne is suspicious of something. We better hurry this along." Fox said.

"Here is your food sir. Enjoy." Crow said to Falcone.

"Thank you waiter. Just what kind of show does Wayne have tonight?" Falcone asked.

"An upcoming gymnast. I assure you her feats will blow you away. She's won multiple awards after all." Crow smiled.

"Wayne always had a soft spot for kid athletes. Ever since that Grayson kid." Falcone scoffed.

"Here you go sir! Half lasagna plate, half steak as requested." Panther chirped.

"Thank you dear. I apologize for being so indecisive." Harvey Dent said.

"No problem sir. I live to please. Enjoy the show." Panther said, before walking away.

"As promised your food." Fox said, putting down the food.

"Thank you waiter, it looks delicious." Diana smiled.

"You said that a show was starting soon yes?" Clark asked.

"Oh yes, I hope you enjoy what we have to offer. Enjoy your feast." Fox bowed before walking away.

Bruce looked around tapping his foot impatiently. He hated having so little control.

"Ladies and gentlemen. We thank you for joining us for this charity gala. All proceeds will of course go to the Wayne Foundation Crime Prevention fund. Thank you so much for your support. But of course we wouldn't be here without the name himself. Please give a hand to Mr. Wayne. Without him, none of this would be possible." Queen said.

A spotlight shined down on the billionaire. He got up, did a fake smile and waved to the room and sat back down. The room filled with polite applause.

"Now, for your nightly entertainment. After this the gala will sadly come to a close. Please put your hands together for the beautiful, the gracious...Violet." Queen said.

The stage's curtain opened to reveal a slim red-haired girl wearing a beautiful pink dress with a mask to match. She held her ribbon at the ready for the orchestra. The composer tapped his stick and began the last performance. An elegant song filled the room as Violet performed a graceful and complicated dance.

"My, grace puts it mildly. She's so delicate. It's like she's not even touching the floor." Diana said, admiring the girl's form.

"Yes she is quite talented." Clark said.

"Indeed." Bruce's eye twitched at the gall of these thieves. This was an indirect attack at his whole enterprise. And everyone was lapping it up. All eyes were glued on the young woman's dance, entranced.

Falcone's phone vibrated, he apologized to the table and went to the back halls. Crow narrowed his eyes and followed the man. The whole place was bugged for any wrongdoings, but he had an idea.

Falcone picked up the phone.

"What is it? …..WHAT!" Falcone shouted in anger.

Crow heard it all behind his corner.

"He's dead! You hear me. I'm the one who runs the show. He's lucky I don't gut him. Arrange a meeting with the dumbass. Sionis needs to be put in his place." Falcone growled out as he hung up. He slammed his fist against the wall and cursed. He took a breath and turned back to his table. He bumped into a familiar boy.

"Oh, I'm quite sorry sir. I was just making my way to the bathroom. Is everything alright?" Crow asked in mock concern.

"Use the shitter and bring me my bill. I'm leaving." Falcone gritted out.

"Of course sir, right away." Crow pretended to scamper off. Crow grinned as he entered the empty bathroom. Falcone didn't even notice the tracker/listening device he put on his coat.

"Everyone, change of plan. Falcone is leaving the building. I've placed a tracker on him. White, follow him. Make sure you keep your distance." Crow said.

"Roger, he'll never see me. Anything for my Crow~" White Rabbit purred.

"Just do it." Crow growled out.

"Are we still a go on the rest of the plan?" Futaba asked.

"This changes little. Time to make our grand entry." Joker smirked, pulling on his glove.

Violet's performance came to a close. When all of a sudden the curtain closed. A giant projection flashed on the curtains. Outside the entire city's big screens were suddenly overrun. They stood no chance against the great Alibaba.

"And we're live in three...two...one." Futaba counted down before she played the prerecorded tape.

The Phantom Thieves logo flashed across the multiple screens across Gotham. The whole city murmured at the sight.

"HELLO GOTHAM CITY!" A distorted voice rang out. Each line the voice changed.

"We are the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, interrupting your aimless lives."

"You heard of our victory regarding a certain Jervis Tetch. He was just the beginning."

A picture of the Hatter flashed across the screen a big X across his face.

"We seek to weed out all corruption in Gotham city. From the lowest of scum to the highest of authority."

A picture of a common burglar and an evil king showed itself.

"We hereby declare war on all gangs. Know soon we will come for you. Know that if you profit off the cities rot. We will come for you. It's only a matter of time." A multitude of faces showed itself. Black Mask, Penguin, Falcone, Harley Quinn, Joker, even Bruce Wayne and Batman.

"You can hide behind your ivory towers all you wish. If you are truly righteous, know we wish you no harm."

"But if you are liars, hypocrites, scum of the earth that feeds on others suffering. No amount of money can stop us."

Members of the crowd in the gala sweated or scoffed at the notion.

"We will stop the cycle of crime plaguing this city. We will reform this broken system, even if it all needs to come crashing down first."

"The people cry out in desperation while their city burns. We will be the ones to put out the flames. If you believe in our cause, join us. If someone is keeping you a slave from your own freedom….Our anonymous Phantom Aficionado website has message blogs for you to contact us to save you from your prison." A website link made itself known.

"Let us help you. Let us heal you. And most of all let us free you from your shackles."

"This is the Phantom Thieves. And we're here to stay."

The projection suddenly cut out. The whole charity was up in arms, terrified over what this means.

"Quite the show they put on. I wonder if they speak the truth." Clark said, adjusting his glasses.

"They just declared war on every person in Gotham. Their ambition will get them killed." Bruce gritted out darkly.

"It seems a new entity has made itself known in Gotham. I've heard of what happened to Tetch. I couldn't comprehend how they did it. What exactly constitutes a change of heart?" Diana asked.

Queen took to the stand quickly, trying to calm the people in attendance. Inside she was smiling.

"I sincerely apologize for what you just saw. We have the gala back under control. I suggest you leave before the police make their way here. We seemed to have a breach in our security." Queen said.

"So a new vigilante group has made itself known. I wonder if Gordon will give them a signal too." Harvey jokes.

Everyone quickly made haste out of the gala and into the chaotic night

Bruce's waiter walked up to the table with something in hand.

"I apologize but with the breach. Management wishes to speak with you. Privately. He left you a note. It's been a pleasure serving you. Have a good night." Fox handed Bruce the card and walked off.

Bruce looked at the unopened card, he was scared of what lies in store. He took a deep breath and opened it.

Dear Mr. Wayne,

I know a little secret.

A secret that you just can't wait to hear.

Won't you come to the coat closet to find out?

Signed Joker.

PS: You look great in black by the way.

Bruce's eye wouldn't stop twitching at the card. They knew…

"Bruce?" Diana put a hand on Bruce's shoulder. She's never seen him this pale, this afraid.

"Met me at the manor. Bring Smallville. There's much catching up to do." Bruce practically gritted out in a whisper. He walked away leaving the two to ponder just what was on that card.

"hehehehehe HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Joker laughed, tears coming out of his eyes.

"What do we do puddin'?" Harley asked, smiling.

"You know my dear, it's been awhile since I've had such a laugh. Let us see if these "Phantom Thieves" are worth their boasting. They want to attack me? Let them. I applaud such ambition in newcomers. The chaos they've rained down tonight is worth its weight in gold." Joker paused for a moment.

"That said, they did just threaten us. Bring them to me. I want to see them beg for life before I carve a permanent smile on their face." Joker said.

"YOU HEARD THE MAN! ALIVE! And we'll have a nice show together." Harley commanded.

The whole room cheered for the two. Those thieves were as good as dead.

They seek to burn society down to rebuild it? BAH! They had me in the first half not going to lie. Joker thought.

Batsy won't let this stand. He's too territorial~. I just hope I can get my hands on one of them before he can bring them down. It will be fun to watch them go at each other's throats though. Leaves an opening for me to do my glorious work.

Bruce opened the coat closet door and walked in. He looked around for someone to show his face. The light flickered rapidly, surrounding the room in darkness. When it came back on Joker was leaning against the wall, smirking.

"Good evening Mr. Wayne. I trust my associates have given you a good show?" Joker asked.

"What is this? What do you want with me?" Bruce tried to feign ignorance. He hoped against hope it wasn't true.

"Aw~ Don't do that. We both know who truly hides under that cowl don't we?" Joker smiled.

Bruce narrowed his eyes and broke the facade.

"You found me out. How?" Bruce demanded.

"A magician never reveals his tricks, Mr. Wayne. Just know I have people everywhere." Joker said.

"Selina?" Bruce asked hesitantly.

"No, she made me vow not to make her betray you. I'm a man of my word. Just know that out of everyone in the world Selina Kyle didn't rat out the Bat. I found out on my own terms." Joker said.

"Just what are you planning to do with this information. Blackmail me lik with Tetch?" Bruce grilled.

"I know in your heart you don't believe I did such a thing. In terms of your identity nothing. I won't out you. My demon wants more than that out of us. No...This was an apology." Joker said.

"An apology?" Bruce quirked an eyebrow. Joker looked up in the corner to find Bat-mite munching on popcorn, enjoying every second of this.

Bruce noticed this and looked behind him seeing nothing.

"He's here isn't he?" Bruce asked.

"Enjoying every minute of it. Mr. Wayne I want you to understand my position. I wanted to make peace, you saw as much. But he forced my hand." Joker sighed.

"What exactly did he do?" Bruce asked.

"In response to trying to speak his name he killed four people. People very close to me and my team. He made me watch the life leave their eyes. As the blood splattered across the room, they begged me for help. I have to avenge them." Joker gritted out.

"How can you avenge them by giving him exactly what he wants? Fight him!" Bruce growled.

"YOU THINK I HAVEN'T TRIED THAT?! He's too powerful, the only way to beat him is to sit and wait for my power to build back up. In order to do that, I have to take corruption down. And in order to please him, I have to take you down." Joker said.

"Over my dead body." Bruce growled.

"*Scoff* I expect nothing less. I truly wish things to be different. A part of me hopes you take us down. Just so he'll leave us alone." Joker confessed.

"Then do it. Turn yourself in." Bruce said.

"If I do that more loved ones die. They are all being held hostage without their knowledge. The moment he thinks I'm not at my best. They die." Joker said.

"So do you really stand for the words you say to Gotham then? Are you leading them on with a false promise?" Bruce asked.

"Don't insult me. Of course I mean every world I say in regards to our message. It's one of the reasons we were picked. Because of our conflicting ideologies. He wants us to fight, wants it more than anything else in the world. He's willing to see the world burn in exchange." Joker said.

"And what of you wanting to see the world burn? Your namesake doesn't give me much faith." Bruce said.

"Don't twist our words Batman. We wish to see true reform. Look around you. How many times have you arrested criminals just for them to escape and do it again. How many years fighting a losing battle in the hopes of it making a difference?" Joker asked.

"I don't kill. I made a promise on my parents grave." Bruce said.

"I respect that. But what I offer is not killing, but a chance of redemption." Joker said.

"Is it true redemption when the person is forced to enact it?" Bruce asked.

"It's a grey area, sure. But what are our alternatives?" Joker asked.

Bruce was stumped at that. Everything he does seems to be met with more darkness.

"I still don't trust the method. Just how are you doing all this?" Bruce asked.

"I can't tell you. I already know it would cost another life. Even if I did, I doubt you would believe me." Joker said.

"You'd be surprised what I've seen over the years. Your team clearly has experience with infiltration, can you tell me anything of your origins maybe? Just something I can use?" Batman asked.

Joker looked over at Batmite. Batmite did an uncaring wave. Apparently origins were on the table.

"I don't have much time. We've operated in Japan since last Apirl, a rapist at our school drove a friend to attempted suicide. Days before I got an #!$ !#$#$. Sorry, a god came to me in a dream telling me I had a strange power in me. Skull and Panther were the starting team. Skull was abused by the teacher, ruining his chances at a scholarship. Panther was blackmailed into sex with the bastard, when she refused….our friend was raped. When we saw her crippled body on the ground Skull couldn't take it. When confronted the rapist just goaded us into violence. He'd just break a leg and call it self defence. He threatened to expel us. That our futures were his to take. It was then me and Skull decided to do something about it. We both had the power, Panther found hers soon after. We took him down and made him confess his sins. We did what the teachers, the principal, the police, hell even the parents were afraid to. We forced the teacher into submission." Joker explained.

"There's clearly more. You've only mentioned two of your teammates." Bruce said.

"A long year makes for a long story Bruce. Maybe some other time." Joker said.

"I have people in Japan. I would have heard of such a huge scandal over there. Yet I've never heard of your group. Why is that?" Bruce asked.

"Because !$#$!$ !#. *sigh* Think about it this way. Superman is an alien, Wonder Woman's a goddess. There are places that escape the realm of this reality. That's all I can say tonight." Joker sighed.

"The only way to know more is to bring you in. You know that right?" Bruce asked.

"You're going to have to make due with the cards handed to you Mr. Wayne. Same as I. Happy hunting." The lights flicked and the boy was gone.

Bruce narrowed his eyes, and called Alfred to pull up. This party is over.

Everyone was gone, including the suspicious staff. He walked by a closet to hear a banging opening that revealed James, Ross, and a multitude of people. Bruce untied James and removed the tape from his mouth.

"Mr. Wayne! There's been a breach!" James shouted.

"Everyone's gone James. They got away. I'm just glad to see you're ok." Bruce said.

"Sir...I'm so sorry. You gave me a second chance at life and...I messed it all up." James said, depressed.

"James, you've worked for me too long to talk like that. I'm not firing you for one bad night. Help these people home, the police should be on their way but… I fear the streets are hot tonight friend. Keep these people safe, I need to go home and work out a way to better our security. This won't happen again." Bruce said, putting a hand on James' shoulder.

"T-thank you sir. You don't know how much this means to me and the guys will keep the staff safe until the police arrive, or just until the night cools down." James said.

"Good man. Stay safe." Bruce walked away.

"You too sir." James saluted.

"Sir, Master Kent and Miss Prince are at the manor. They seem quite insistent on knowing just what happened at the gala." Alfred said as he pulled up.

"I tell them everything Alfred. I've been meaning to the next meeting anyway. This is just more convenient timing." Bruce said.

Falcone busted into Sionis' office and slammed his fist on the desk.

"Just who do you think I am?" Falcone asked, enraged.

"A chump, that's what." Sionis said, adjusting his white suit. The black mask shining in the light.

"You are nothing without me! Without my shipments you're just some thug with a god complex." Flacone scowled.

"You sound like my father, always calling me a thug when he was no better." Sionis said.

"Listen here you piece of shit. I am not your father. I didn't raise a psychopath who killed his father in a blind rage. And I'm certainly not some thug like you, burning away your inheritance in some wannabe conquest of Gotham." Falcone insulted.

"WHAT WAS THAT OLD MAN?! *ahem* I am a fine businessman. I'll show you just what that means." Sionis snapped his fingers and his thugs shot Falcone's dead. Sionis ran over to the other man and slammed him on the floor.

"*Chokes* Just what do you think you're doing idiot?! DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU KILL ME?!" Falcone shouted.

"Yeah, I do...I get the keys to your empire. Anyone who opposes me...dead." Black Mask said as he slit Falcone's throat. The man gurgled his own blood, the red staining Sionis' white suit.

"Make it look like an accident. Anyone asks questions, dead. Got me?" Sionis asked.

"Y-yes sir."

"He won't be needing these." Sionis said, pulling off the family gold rings that made the Falcone family. A true sigh of mob respect is now his.

"Tell his boys, they work for me now. Any dissenters, dead." Sionis said, straightening his tie.

"What about Penguin sir?"

"I'm owning Gotham. He can shove that umbrella of his right up his ass." Sionis snorted.

"Batman, Phantom Thieves?"

"You're including those wannabes in with the Knight?! Don't make me laugh. Increase security two fold. Even Batman can't stop me now. Business is booming fellas, why lie cheat and steal when you can sell it. Opportunity awaits and I'll pull us to victory." Sionis smirked.

White Rabbit gasped at what she heard. This was the start of a new gang war! She had to tell the others that Falcone was dead. Black Mask is the new target of the Phantom Thieves.

"Clark, Diana I am sorry for missing the last meeting. As you saw I had my hands full as of late." Bruce said to the room.

"All's forgiven Bruce, now please tell us what the hell's going on." Clark said.

"Let's take this to the cave." Bruce said as he walked over to the grand piano, he played the code and the secret door opened. They all walked downstairs.

"I was going to bring this up during the next meeting. But circumstances have changed, I'll have to you two relay this to the rest of the League they need to know about this." Bruce said.

"Bruce you're scaring me. Just what did these Phantom Thieves do to warrant such caution?" Diana asked.

"They know Batman is Bruce Wayne." Bruce revealed.

"WHAT?! How?" Clark asked.

"I have a hunch but you're not going to like it. That's not what scares me though. What scares me is whoever is forcing this upon them. They're ruthless and have a grudge against me." Bruce said, typing in the computer.

"Who is it?" Diana asked.

"I don't know. This is a recording of a confrontation. They broke into Queen and Wayne Towers a couple of weeks back. I tracked one's location and demanded an audience. Here's the rundown of the team from the least I know to the most.

"I thought you said you were more afraid of who's in charge." Diana said.

"I am. But these kids are my only lead on finding them. I got bits and pieces to start a picture, but not nearly enough. If you see any of them in your area please bring them into custody as quietly as you can. Though they have their grievances with me, they did at least try to make peace before being forced to do otherwise."

"Forced how?" Clark asked.

"Later Clark, first the line up." Bruce said. A picture came up of a blonde girl with pigtails, her bright blue eyes popped out with her red latex outfit.

"I haven't even talked to this one yet. I know nothing about her true power or role. Tasers can take her out when alone. She has a healing power to her, as well as a whip and submachine gun. They call her Panther." Bruce said.

"Looks like a Catwoman copycat to me." Diana said.

"Possible... Selina told me herself she's working with them." Bruce said.

"You think it's a protege?" Clark asked.

"No. I know her involvement in the group told me they had just given her a deal." Bruce said.

"Selina hates working with others though, how did they manage that?" Diana asked.

"From the look of excitement? Sheer amount of cash. The cash itself I don't know where it comes from." Bruce said.

Bruce brought up the next member. A girl with a wicked smile wearing a musketeer hat.

"This one is also fairly unknown. She has the power to stop electricity flow somehow. I don't know if she has a melee. She probably doesn't need one with the damage her grenade launcher did to the Batwing. Codename: Noir'' The footage showed the girl wielding the massive gun. The explosion brought down the Batwing in one hit.

"Hera, where do such young people find such weaponry?!" Diana asked, shocked.

"I don't know. I do know that I need to upgrade the wing's hull because of it." Bruce growled.

"I see a familiar hairdo in the group is that?" Clark asked.

"Yes, our waiter. Codename is Fox. He barely made any moves during the encounter. All I know is that he has an assault rifle and a keen eye." Bruce said.

"He seemed rather eccentric from my experience." Clark said, pushing up his glasses.

"Yes, rather polite though." Diana added.

"We're getting into more known territory. This one is Crow, just from one encounter I could tell he was very unstable. I only saw him wield a pistol. He found me easily twice, at first I thought he was the one they were so afraid of. Just listen." Bruce said as he played the footage.

"You idiots have to keep your eyes open. Huddle up, backs against each other. Don't let his fear tactics scare you." Crow said. FAST FORWARD

"Quite you. What were you thinking?! Beating up Robin?! Showing your true power?!"

FAST FORWARD

"You don't strike me as someone who cares about justice or people harmed. Queen here I can understand not wanting harm done. What's your motive, are you the person they're all so scared of?" Batman asked.

"Hmph. True I don't care, I'm just working with them to get revenge on the person they're so scared of. You know him, don't you? He never shuts up about how much he loves Batman" Crow said venomously.

"I can see what you're saying. Those eyes are those of a broken soul too damaged to be fixed." Diana sighed.

"Who is this Queen who spoke of?" Clark asked.

"The news called her the Masked Rider. She saved a cop from death with her powers. A bullet wound straight in the lung. He would have died that night if not for her. I caught her spying on the studios. I sent Batgirl to see if she wanted peace. She declined politely calling me a cult leader. A fight ensued, and tonight's the first night Cass is back in action." Bruce said.

"How could a newcomer beat a trained assassin?" Clark asked.

"She has these strange powers. I experienced it myself. How do I describe it? It's like she held some kryptonite in front of me. Everything slowed down, I became very weak, vulnerable, and unable to properly defend myself. She also has this blue heat power. With all these combined she makes a powerful opponent. She also has a very strong sense of justice. I believe she may have had past ties with law enforcement." Bruce said.

"She looks no older than nineteen. A family member perhaps? A quest for vengeance like your own?" Daina suggested.

"Highly possible. I managed to bring her down with a simple sneak attack. She needs to work on her observation skills." Bruce said.

"Isn't that the girl who performed tonight? Just how blown is your cover Bruce?" Clark asked.

"Violet was armed with a sapier when we battled. She was the one I tracked. She was also the strongest advocate for peace between us. She offered to have me meet with the rest of her group. I of course accepted." Bruce said.

"My, even on the battlefield she exudes such a delicate grace. Only with so much ferocity." Diana said.

"Isn't that the security boy from out front? I was wondering what happened to James." Diana continued.

"Skull is a textbook tank. Damian mistook him for a Black Mask thug, he angered to such a degree electricity shot out an entire block, causing a blackout. The fight between them resulted in massive property damage. He's very impulsive, he shot me point blank in the chest with a shotgun. Other than that, standard superhuman strength and armed with a hammer. Took a full round of tranquilizers to put him to sleep." Bruce said.

"So this is why you sent Robin to the Titan's Bruce? I can't say I disagree, this boy looks the part of a thug but that shouldn't have meant Damian attacked. He was right to defend himself." Diana scowled.

"I'm aware Diana. That doesn't retract the fact that this boy is dangerous if left unchecked. We all have experienced the one overpowered hot head who doesn't know his limits." Bruce said.

"I suppose so." Diana sighed

"Next up is a very dangerous one. Alibaba had the sole hacking skills to bypass all of the security of by Queen and Wayne towers. When confronted she alone almost compromised me. I believe she might have been the one to find out my identity first. I have no idea just what her powers are. With her hacking skills alone she's very dangerous." Bruce said.

"She looks so frail. So young, where did this leader find these children?" Clark asked.

"The leader of the group told me a little about their origin. What he could without being silenced however." Bruce said, bringing up a white masked teen.

"He goes by the codename Joker." Batman growled.

"Why would he paint a target on his back like that?" Clark asked.

"You saw their message at the gala Clark. They just declared war on every seed of corruption in Gotham. It's probably another method to rile up the masses." Bruce said.

"So he's the one they're afraid of?" Diana asked.

"No. He's the one who tried to make peace. When he asked me to come to the coat closet it was to offer an apology. That in any other circumstance, he would have made peace." Bruce said.

"You said he told you a little of their origins. Do you know anything about their mysterious power?" Diana asked.

"No, he tried but was silenced by the god controlling them." Bruce said, playing the recording back. Once again his paranoia to record everything came in handy. The clear contacts he wore recorded all of the encounter.

"I never heard of anything like that going on in Japan. The reveal of such a monster would have been huge news over there. The police, the school staff, even the parents stood by and let such a perverted monster do his work on poor women?" Diana spat.

"He has to be lying. I never heard of anything like that either. All of my reporter contacts would have alerted me of such atrocities." Clark said.

"No. He's not lying. When someone is that furious under the mask, they never are. They operated for a full year under our watch. That doesn't make sense. But the hint he dropped could shed some light." Bruce played the clip.

"Think about it this way. Superman is an alien, Wonder Woman's a goddess. There are places that escape the realm of this reality. That's all I can say tonight." Joker said.

"Escape this realm of reality. Magic users perhaps? A team brought here from another realm?" Diana suggested.

"Another dimension. Like the Justice Lords." Clark said.

"Precisely. That would explain everything. How they operated a full year, how such a long scandal was never heard of. Why can't I find a match on identities anywhere." Bruce said.

"Who brought them here? Who has that much power? That much observance of the multiverse?" Clark asked.

"They can't say they're name. Joker said that in response the god killed four people he knew. That if they don't do his bidding more will die. Here's what happened when they wouldn't do that." Batman growled playing the clip.

The three watched the team start clasping their heads in pain. The black blood running down Joker's face started to run down thiers. Clark and Diana could barely stand to hear their screams of pain, stopped by the insane laughter.

"Hera, Bruce...What kind of demon is this? How could he do this to mere children?" Diana begged. A palm on her mouth in sheer horror. She shed a few tears for the cries in the video. Alibaba's in particular hit very hard.

"That's what I aim to find out. My only way to find out more is to apprehend them for questioning." Bruce said.

"But if you do there's a risk people could die." Clark said.

"So I'm just supposed to sit here and watch these children beg for help?! Leave a god that is ruthless unchecked. If he has no use for them at any point do you really think he'll hold back? That he won't kill them without a moment's hesitation?" Bruce challenged.

"There's got to be a way. SOMETHING!" Clark yelled.

"I could ask the gods of Olympus if they know anything. But if I haven't heard of this god for millennia, I doubt they have either." Diana sighed.

"Exactly. It's our only option. They're will be no winners in this, Clark. I already know." Bruce said, resolute.

"*sigh* I'm terrified of what comes of this Bruce. Just be sure to go easy on them, they are mere children after all." Clark said, clutching his eyes.

"I don't like the idea of lives potentially being lost, but this god leaves us little options. When you find him Bruce, know that no even your no meta rule can stop me from pounding him into the ground." Diana growled, punching her fist into her palm.

"Likewise, I doubt this will stop in Gotham anyway. Why would it?" Clark said, eyes downcast.

"Alert the League of all of this information. If anyone sees the Phantom Thieves outside of Gotham. I want to be the first to know." Bruce said.

"They've only done one job and I already feel like we're on the cusp of a war. Be careful Bruce." Diana said. The two members of the Justice League walked to the teleporter and disappeared.

Bruce was left alone to prepare for a long night of cleaning up the chaos on the streets.

"Um, boss what are you doing?" White Rabbit asked.

"This isn't the time for google hun." Selina said.

"You liked it didn't you? Do your powers include pulling popcorn out of nowhere, how does that work?" Akira snarked.

Bat-mite laughed at that.

"Such ferocity on both sides. Yes...I can tell this is the start of something great. I knew I made the right choice pulling all of you here!" Bat-mite said.

"You wanted us to be villains...I'll give you the devil incarnate." Akira's red eyes shone through.

"Oohhh...shivers. I think doggie deserves a bone for tonight." Bat-mite threw Akira another key and he caught it.

"You give me the means to defeat you?" Akira asked.

"PFFT! OF COURSE NOT! Even at full power he stands no chance against me. Nonono truth is it'll only get harder from here. Not because of me, but because of the war you've declared. "It's a start in the right direction. Bring me to him." Akira said.

"This way." Lavenza led him.

The cages filled with shadows were angrily chanting to him. All in agreement on one goal.

"TAKE THE WORLD! TAKE THE WORLD! TAKE THE WORLD! TAKE THE WORLD!" they all chanted to the thief.

Satanael's prison was massive, the top to far for Akira to see. Satanael was on his knees chained to oblivion. He heaved heavily from the wound Bat-mite gave him.

"He is weak, but willing. Tonight's thieving helped greatly with his recovery. He should be healed by the key however." Lavenza said.

"My ward…." Satanael heaved out deeply.

"Satanael...How are you feeling, big guy?" Akira asked, holding a bar to his cage.

"I have lived for millennia. Experienced a thousand deaths. My fall from heaven angered me greatly. But...nothing compares to the rage I feel now. Free me….when my power returns we will crush the demon with my foot. He will know torment...He will know hell's utter fury." Satanael growled out.

"I can feel your fury my lord. It fuels my hatred tenfold. With our bond, nothing can stop us." Akira raged. He unlocked Satanael's cell, the beast leaned over for Akira to unlock his bindings. When done Satanael scooped Akira up in the palm of his hand and put him on his enormous shoulder. He got up slowly letting the key work it's magic on his wounds.

"Then let us form a new contract. I am thou, thou art I. Together let's escape this hell and ASCEND TO OUR FREEDOM!"

The chanting became more and more loud in agreement with the lord. Akira felt alive after the longest time. Satanael let out a mighty roar, drowning out all noise with his furious might. He spread his six wings to full span, asserting his dominance on the shadow realm.

"BAT-MITE WANTS US TO BE VILLAINS! LET'S GIVE HIM THE DEVIL INCARNATE!"

Akira screamed into the massive prison.

"*CHEERS* TAKE THE WORLD! TAKE THE WORLD!" the mass of shadows answered.
