28. Abduction
Molly - April 4, 2036, 11:14 PM
"What was that?" I trembled as we all turned our heads to where the crashing came from. A green hedgehog in a black jacket stomped in the room and pointed a gun at us.
"Shit! Both of you, get back!" Dad hastily pushed me back behind him. The intruder immediately fired a round and struck him in the shoulder, making him stumble and yelp.
"Dad!" I cried out.
"Knuckles!" Aunt Tikal gasped.
I watched helplessly as Dad was shot several more times until he collapsed. He then groaned as he lay there bleeding until he stopped moving and his voice faded into silence. And at that point I felt like my whole world fell apart.
"Hey kid…" The hedgehog turned his attention to me. "You're coming with me,"
He began approaching me, and I stepped back as he came closer and closer but was too terrified and shocked from witnessing what he had just done. My heart was racing fast, my body was tensing up, and my head was spinning so much that I couldn't even tell myself to flee.
"Molly, come on!" Aunt Tikal hastily snatched me up and made a run for it, but the hedgehog instantly aimed at us and fired, hitting her in the thigh. She let out a shrill, and we both tumbled down.
I sat up quickly. "Aunt Tikal!"
"Just go, Molly!" She bleated. "Run! Don't worry about—"
The hedgehog kicked her aside and towered over me before grabbing and pulling me closer to him. "I'd kill you instead, but I'm gonna need you for the time being," He glared at me with cold, menacing eyes and then whipped me over the head with his pistol, near-instantly stunning me.
"No! Leave her alone!" Aunt Tikal pleaded.
The hedgehog dropped me to the floor and focused on her next. He crouched down to her and snickered to himself, "I guess I have time to spare." The last thing I could observe before losing all consciousness was him dragging her out of my sight as she struggled to escape his grasp.
