Morning came sooner for Cinnamon then she would have liked; the last night conversation with Mocho making it difficult to sleep. "I was thinking I could get this for you. It fits your style even if you aren't a fan of girly stuff, despite your habit of wearing skirts." At last, this would finally end, Cinnamon would no longer have to deal with her fear of the dark and irregular sleep patterns. "No not yet, I'm going shopping with Lucy tomorrow so we'll probably get it then. While were doing that you are going to take Kevin to The Masqueraded Chocolatier."
The excitement from such an outcome almost made the lack of rest worth it as Cinnamon slowly opened her eyes. Better yet, nobody would none the wiser, it would simply look like a sappy thing Mocho wanted to do for her. Well, that, and we can finally introduce our siblings to Mrs. Opera. She is so nice; Mary never charges us for her merchandise even though we're stinkin' rich! Stomach grumbled, the rabbit princess scrunched up her nose, ear twitching in discomfort from the hunger pains. Speaking of which, I'm hungry, if I'm quiet I can get something before the staff shows up.
Hopping from her covers; Cinnamon quiet landed on the floor and expertly made it through the castle halls to the massive kitchen. Just like usual the adopted princess made sure keep her footsteps quick and light if she didn't the pitter patter of her feet would make noise. It's too bad the carpets and rugs are rolled up and put away at night. But I suppose it's for the best, the maids prefer to clean them daily. Reaching the scullery, Cinnamon made quick work of grabbing a bowl and her chosen fruits for her pre-breakfast meal.
Only stopping when the dish was full with the large fruit salad shimmering thanks to the honey coating she had provided it. Heading back to her room; Princess Cinnamon carefully balanced a bowl full of banana, strawberry, and apple slices in her small hands. Can't wait to eat wait this, hopefully I didn't put too much honey on them. I know my hands will get sticky, it is inevitable, but last time it was a disaster. Through the stained-glass windows the rays from the coming sunrise shined through them and lit up the normal oppressive hallways.
I am so tired, but there is one good thing about my sleeping habits, I get to see the sunrise everyday. Hurrying her pace, Cinnamon gripped her snack tighter, not wanting to miss too much of the natural beauty. But the rabbit girl was soon forced to halt when the stained-glass window in front of her was shattered. Scattering the multi-colored porcelain everywhere as Cinnamon drooped the bowl and scuttled away from the new opening; terror and confusion blazing in her eyes.
At the center of the shards sat a rock with a note tied to it but, Cinnamon had no way to reach it, not if she didn't want to cut her feet. "Princess!" Turning around, the captain of the oreo guards raced towards her with Rancis not far behind. "Are you okay?" The guard, not wasting any time in his attempts to protect her, picked her up and gave her to the king. Surveying the scene and glancing out the window for any sign of whoever or whatever caused this accident.
All while Rancis worriedly held Cinnamon in his arms; her small frame barely filling his arms. "U-Umm….I was just getting myself a snack to look at the sunset and the window broken open…I'm okay I guess just a little freaked out." Discomfort starting to set in, the rabbit girl squirmed a little, she never liked being held. But something told her that Rancis would not be letting her go anytime soon; whenever it came to the adopted twin's health him and Vanellope always fretted about that.
"That is good, but why don't we stop by the clinic anyways? The nurse and doctors should be up by now so the checkups won't take too long," Rancis clutched her tighter and Cinnamon growled in annoyance, not only was she tired but her snack had been ruined and now she was going to miss the sunrise. "I know you feel fine but it never hurts to be sure. For example, after these incidents, mom and I are gonna increase security around here."
Dad was right; the checkups didn't take long but that didn't mean Cinnamon was any less impatient. Arms crossed and rabbit nose twitching erratically as her an extremely board Mocho watched their parents chat with the doctor. "Can you believe them? We didn't even get hurt! It was probably some dumb teens trying to scare us." Complained Cinnamon, with her brother shrugging, eyes flicking back towards his parents when their brows creased at one of the vitals on their records.
"Don't criticize them too much Cinnabun, I'm short for my age and your thin for your age. They probably see us as even more fragile then a normal kind is, you know?" Mocho lazily drawled, the conversation between the adults seemingly starting to wrap up. "Just think about it this way, they wouldn't be doing this if they didn't love us." Sitting up, the rabbit boys ears stood at attention, the adults had finally finished talking as the doctor left to update their file.
Wordlessly the pair watched as Rancis and Vanellope nodded in conformation; they had free range to leave. "Yes, finally, lets go the chefs are probably almost done cooking!" Cinnamon cheered, jumping from her seat as her and Mocho dashed through the castle halls giggling and ducking under the many legs belonging to various members of the castle staff. This included the skinny frosting-made ones of the oreo guard captain, who a wrinked note in his hand. "What do you think they'll have today? Hash Browns? Cannolis? Omelets? I like the coffee cake the best!"
Accidentally tripping up the guard Cinnamon and Mocho paused their stride as the guard hit the floor with a loud thud. The note in his hand fluttering across the floor as the adopted rabbit prince ran towards the guard stopping in front of him. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to—" Curious sky-blue eyes fixating on the paper Cinnamon quickly went around her brother and the captain of the oreo guards.
Upon closer inspection the paper was a folded up black ink occasionally bleeding through the beige material. It was the same note that had been tied to the rock. Reaching out for it; Cinnamon took the letter in her hands and opened it up eager to read its contents. However, the adopted rabbit princess didn't get a chance to read a single letter before the hand of the oreo guard hand snatched it away from her, looking up Cinnamon snarled.
"Sorry princess, this is confidential. Why don't you both get going?" The guard staring, his non-existant eyes glued on her as he picked Cinnamon up and placed her next to Mocho. "Oh come on, don't look at me like that, I did have something I wanted to tell too, I heard that the chefs have made croissants and coffee cake. And they're setting up the table right now."
"R-Really!? Cinnamon let's go! I want to get some before Lucy eats them all!" Mocho whined, sounding less like a dignified royal and more like an irritable wailing toddler. Snickering at her brother's antics, Cinnamon complied, her mind all but dropping its curiosity at the prospect of food.
Eh, it probably wasn't important anyway, probably some gotcha note from those meddlesome teens. Cinnamon thought, unaware of the eyes watching her and her brother, as the oreo guard worridly watched them leave.
