Hey guys, here's chapter 2 of The Misadventures of Vee. Well, here we go.

Vee walked downstairs with a stretch of her arms, having just woken up and gotten out of bed. When she reached the base of the steps, she was greeted by the scent of bacon which made the young basilisk lick her lips. Bacon had quickly become her favorite breakfast food when she first came to the human realm, she especially liked it when it was crispy.

"Morning, Vee" Camilla greeted her newest daughter with her usual friendly smile.

"Morning, Camilla" Vee greeted back, only for Camilla to clear her throat and look at her with a stern expression, "What?" Vee looked at her with confusion.

"Mija, you shouldn't call your mother by her first name" Camilla told her.

That's when the memories from last night resurfaced. Camilla allowing her to be a part of her and Luz's family, Vee almost fainting, as well as the kiss goodnight. She remembered it all clearly.

"Wait, last night wasn't a dream?" Vee asked, receiving a shake of the head from Camilla, "So, I'm really your..."

"Yep" Camilla nodded.

"And when Luz comes back, she'll be my..." Vee asked.

"Yep" Camilla nodded again. This caused Vee to smile as she placed her hands over her chest. She could almost feel her heart beat right out of her chest with happiness, in which she quickly gave Camilla a hug to finally have that feeling of being part of a family again, "This is going to take some getting used to," Vee admitted as Camilla gave her a pat on her back.

"Now, how about some breakfast?" Camilla asked.

"Is that bacon?" Vee asked with a guilty smile as she saw the grease from the bacon sizzle in the skillet.

"With eggs on the way," Camilla added, pulling a tray of eggs from the refrigerator.

"Yes!" Vee said with happiness as she felt like she was being spoiled with good food, and it's only breakfast.

"Any plans for today?" Camilla asked while cracking eggs.

"Just spending time with my friends" Vee replied with a shrug.

"Well, don't be out too late" Camilla told her.

"I won't" Vee replied.

"Oh, I might have something for you when you get back" Camilla winked at her, placing a plate of food in front of the young girl.

"Then I can't wait to see what it is when I get back," Vee said as she started digging into her bacon strips with the scrambled eggs on the other side of the plate.

"Also, I have to work today, but I should be off by the time you get home," Camilla added.

"Okay," Vee said, noticing Camilla in her work uniform as Vee finished breakfast.

"Bye, Mija," Camilla said as Vee started walking towards the front door.

"Bye, Cam…" Vee began, but stopped herself and sighed. "I mean, bye... mom," Vee said with a small smile, making Camilla smile that Vee was trying to get used to her new role as her daughter.

This was something she definitely needed to get used to as she left out the front door.

Coffee Shop…

"Hey guys" Vee greeted her friends with Luz's voice as she entered the coffee shop.

"Hey Luz" her friends replied in unison.

"Hey, has any of your stuff gone missing lately?" Dani asked.

"No. Why?" Vee asked back as she took her usual seat.

"There's been a string of robberies gone with people's stuff just turning up missing" the other girl, Beth told her.

"That's disturbing..." Vee muttered. "Did they say how the missing things ended up being, well... stolen?" Vee asked.

"Nothing concrete. The authorities are saying that whoever is stealing these things, it's random all over town. The thief doesn't steal from the same person twice, they steal random things from electronics to money to beauty products, and they steal it in either crowded places or when you're distracted doing something alone," Dani explained.

"I'm thinking it's a ghost," Lance answered, making everyone look at him in surprise. "Either that or it's an invisible thief," he added, making everyone sport some agreeable looks.

"Well, it's not the creepiest way to steal something, but it's not too far off. The weirdest of otherworldly things could be all around us, maybe standing in here with us for all we know," Dani added, making "Luz" wince at the thought they would start figuring out who she really is.

"Well, if this thief is causing problems by stealing stuff that isn't theirs, then maybe we should try to catch them," Vee suggested to try and change the topic.

"That's a good idea, Luz. We could go out and hunt down the thief ourselves," Dani suggested as Vee sported a concerned look.

"Hold on. We would have to get really lucky in order to catch the thief red-handed before we get the authorities involved. Otherwise, it would be a waste of time," Vee said, making the others agree with her.

"You're right, Luz. Let's put together a plan first, otherwise, we'll be winging it for another theft to happen near us," Dani said as everyone agreed. "So, here's the plan…" she started before whispering to the others.

Some time later, the group was in a different location, putting their plan into action.

"Are you sure this is gonna work?" Vee asked, slightly not liking this plan as she and the girls hid behind some garden bushes.

"No, but it has to," Dani said as they eyed Lance from their hiding spot, who was leaning against a light post on a completely abandoned street. "Lance has a bag full of broken equipment that's basic worthless. Anyone who tries to steal it will just get a junky surprise," Dani said as they kept an eye on the sole boy of the group.

"Dani, I really don't think..." Vee was about to say something, only to be cut off by a small chuckle.

The girls looked from the hiding spot to see a few small, green creatures with horns protruding from their foreheads, pointy tails, and wings. They watched as the creatures snuck up to Lance, who was on his phone.

"What the hell?" Beth asked with confusion.

"Are those... Imps?" Dani asked with a mixture of surprise, confusion, and excitement.

"Uh-huh" Vee nodded in confirmation, making the other two girls look at her, "I know a thing or two about stuff like this," she told them vaguely. Dani smiled at this. So, she wasn't the only one into mythical creatures after all.

As Lance plays with his phone, he doesn't see the imps begin to advance on him, at least that's what they think since he heard their faint chuckling in the background behind him.

"Uh, this bag is getting heavy. Better put it down for a second," Lance says as he takes the strap off of his shoulder and puts the bag on the ground. Then, his phone began to vibrate and he sees the Caller ID. He takes the call and walks a fair distance away from the back to get some privacy. Even though the call was random and not part of the plan, you still gotta answer the phone.

"Hi, mom. What's up," Lance says as the imps slowly grab his lone backpack and quickly run away...

"Got'cha," Dani said with a pleased smile, seeing their culprits caught red-handed.

"Gotta move fast if we're going to keep up with them," Vee said as the three girls jumped out of their hiding spots and ran after the imps while Lance, turned around and saw the plan was a success with the girls running after the thieves.

"Sorry, mom, I gotta go. My friends and I are doing something very important and they may need my help," Lance said as he ended the call and ran after his friends.

The group had followed the culprits to their little hideout, which was at the end of an abandoned alleyway. Vee was ahead in front of the others. They saw a door to an abandoned building, the teens looking at each other and shrugged. They opened the door and walked around, the interior of the building being dark with cobwebs.

"This is both cool yet creepy. This would make a great haunted house" Dani said as they followed their unofficial leader.

"Focus, Dani" Vee said, following the scent of the imps' magic.

"Just where are those small, flying bastards?" Lance asked.

"Well, if they can fly, they need open space, so keep your eyes focused on the ceiling. Also, they tend to be tricksters at times, so they love setting humiliating traps around the place," Vee informed them.

"Okay, so don't fall for an obvious booby trap," Dani acknowledged as they continued onward until something caught Lance's eye.

"Hey, guys. Check that out. It's a video watch," Lance said as he eyed a watch on the floor, sitting in the middle of a rope trap.

"You can get the watch later, Lance," Beth said as she pulled him along.

"Aw, man," the sole guy of the group says in disappointment until they heard chattering up ahead. They quickly took cover and peeked in through a broken window to the room.

In a spacious room, five imps were reviewing the haul of stuff they stole so far from around tow. From pocket change, jewelry, make-up kits, first aid kits, clothing, even the rare candy bars, and also the occasional, sports equipment. The only thing was they didn't know what most of the stuff was or what they were used for here on Earth, making imps skeptical on what useful or worth anything was.

"Guess they don't know what they stole," Dani said as Vee was thinking the same thing since Vee has been on Earth long enough to know what most of the stuff in the room was. So, she wasn't be surprised if other "intelligent" creatures, that weren't from Earth, didn't know what these inanimate objects were.

"Anyway, do we have a plan?" Beth asked, feeling like this situation has just became serious and she didn't want a bad scenario to play out.

"How about capturing one?" Lance suggested, making the girls look at him.

"Good idea. But how?" Dani said, questionably.

"Like this" Beth said pulling out several rocks strung together and tied to a huge ring. Beth raised her arm and spun the item around before chucking it at one of the imps. Amazingly, it was able to capture it, tying it up by its wings.

"Where's you get bolas?" Dani asked, her and Vee looking at her with surprise.

"I have those just in case. You never know when you know when you'll need to stop someone you're chasing" Beth replied with a shrug.

"... Ok then" Vee said. The group then turned their attention back to the imps.

Despite the sudden and amazing capture method from Beth, the disabled imp was far from helpless. The group of demonic creatures quickly speak to each other in their native tongue and they quickly have their plan. The four free imps fly out of the room, but the captured one stays behind to deal with the human intruders that followed them.

"Here we go!" Dani said with excitement as she goes in first and tries to tackle the imp, in which, it quickly balances itself it on its toes and jumps up, just as Dani came in close and used her back as a springboard to push her to the ground. The imp lands on its hands and feet as Dani skids to a wall on the ground, confused and surprised at the speed and athleticism of the humanoid creature as everyone else came into the room to surround the not-so-weak imp.

"Huh. Imps must be more trouble than their worth if they can still fight back without using wings," Lance said with interest as the disabled imp growled at the group of teenagers while breaking out of the restraints, although annoyed that its wings were still tied up.

"Get him!" Beth shouted as they all quickly dogpiled onto the imp.

However, the little creature was able to slip out of the tight space between the teens and started to run off.

"I've got him!" Vee said, chasing after the little demon.

The young basilisk ran after the imp, hot on its tail. Vee and the imp ran around a corner, the imp leaping over an incoming crate with Vee doing a corkscrew over it. The imp tried to slow her down, but Vee was able to maneuver around them rather easily by ducking or side-stepping. Yeah, she was definitely more agile than her sister. Eventually, Vee had managed to corner the little demon into a dead end. Or so she thought. Behind the imp was a swirling bluish-white vortex of light.

"What the- Is that... a portal?" Vee asked.

The imp then blew a raspberry at her before hopping through the portal, following its friends. Once the imp vanished, so did the portal. Vee blink in disbelief. How did a portal appear? She shook her head. She'd have to question this later. Vee then made her way back to her friends.

"So, I'm guessing that imp got away?" Dani asked, noticing the expression on her friend's face.

"Yeah..." Vee admitted, "But don't worry, they won't be coming back. At least, I hope not" she told them.

"Oh, man! If you would've caught it, we could've showed it off to the authorities and maybe have a live specimen to show the world," Beth said, in a defeated tone, making Vee wince uncomfortably about her recent capture.

"And what sucks more is that nobody would ever believe us," Lance added in a depressed tone, making Vee almost hyperventilate of how close she could've been to being exposed to the public in her true form. She had to change the subject fast.

"Maybe it's better this way. Besides, I don't think the people of this world are ready for any kind of magical creatures from who knows where stalking them," Luz said, trying to secretly ease her nerves.

"You're not wrong, Luz. People usually get the wrong idea all the time when they meet someone or something new from a different species and they tend to make first contact by accidentally or purposely turning it into an incident," Dani explained as Vee slightly gulped at the thought.

"Come on, let's get out of here. And I'd like to say that this was a successful first encounter," Dani announced as everyone made their way to the entrance that they came in.

"Agreed," everyone added as they left the warehouse with Vee eyeing the place one last time.

"Imps coming into the Human Realm? That's not a good sign," Vee murmured to herself as she followed her friends from the back.

If one small group of creatures came through, then how many more different species of creatures may be coming here in the near future? The mere thought of it gave Vee an uncomfortable feeling as she continued walking, thinking to herself while her friends were thinking about some new ideas whenever they deal with a new magical creature that comes into town next time.

Noceda Residence…

Later, Vee came home, entering through the front door.

"Hello, Vee. Welcome back" Camilla greeted the girl as she sat on the couch watching tv.

"Hey, Cam- I mean... mom" Vee greeted back happily, using her real voice, as she sat down next to her adoptive mother.

"I have good news!" they both said at the same time, and then chuckled at what just happened.

"You first" Camilla insisted.

"No, you" Vee counter-insisted.

"Alright. So, after work, I swung by a few places. I got a few papers and, well..." Camilla pulled some papers out of her purse and presented them to Vee.

"Adoption papers?" Vee looked at the papers, and then at her adoptive mother quizically.

"All you have to do is sign and it'll be official" Camilla smiled at the girl. Vee didn't need to be told twice as she signed the papers, "Welcome to the family, Vee Noceda" Camilla said while affectionately rubbing the top of her daughter's head, "Oh, I also got you this" she said as she handed Vee another item.

"A phone?" Vee looked at the item in question.

"Now you can keep in contact with me and your friends when you're not at home" Camilla said, "Oh, and your sister once she comes back" she added.

"Thanks, mom" Vee said, giving the older Noceda a big hug.

"Now, what is it that you wanted to tell me?" Camilla asked. Vee's expression then changed from happy to serious.

"There may be a way for Luz to return to the Human Realm..." Vee told her mother.

"Really?! Is it possible?! I could see my little Luz again?!" Camilla said with rising excitement.

"Yes, but the circumstances are kind of... not in our favor. Apparently, and I don't know how, but a group of imps made it here into the Human Realm and hung around an abandoned building in town while stealing things from people and we finally caught up with them, they used a portal to get out of this realm," Vee explained, leaving Camilla slightly confused.

"So... those imps? They used a portal similar to the one that brought you here?" Camilla asked.

"Yeah, kind of. So, I don't know where they went and I don't know where that portal came from, but what I do know is if it's similar to a portal that's connected to the Boiling Isles, then Luz may have a way home... but..." Vee said with a frown because of a certain thought that crossed her mind, in which Camilla figured it out.

"You're still afraid to go back into that portal because you'll be risking, not only a chance to save my daughter, but there's also a possibility of you being recaptured again by your former tormentors," Camilla asked, making Vee sport a defeated look on the verge of tears.

"Poor baby. She still has trauma of being a prisoner," Camilla thought as she gave her new daughter a comforting hug.

"It's okay, Vee. Mommy's here," Camilla said as Vee accepted the hug and tried her best to calm her down.

The Coffee Shop…

The following day, the group had gotten a message from Dani to meet up at their usual hangout to discuss something important.

"There haven't been any reports of thefts from those thieving imps so far since they left through the portal yesterday, so that's a good sign," Vee said with a smile as she gave an anonymous tip to the police about some miscellaneous items found in the abandoned building.

"But knowing Dani, she probably has a crazy idea in store for us," Vee said humorously as she rolled her eyes and quickly met up with her friends at their hangout spot.

"Glad you could make it, Vee," Dani announced as the group gathered around. "Alright, guys! I've got a crazy idea!"

"...And I spoke too soon," Vee said with a solemn, not-to-surprised look on her face that nonverbally said, "Really?!"

"Since we did a good job of dealing with those imps, despite them getting away, I was thinking we should open up our own "Magic Creature Hunting" business to deal with any future incidents involving magic creatures," she suggested, making everyone go wide-eyed at the thought.

"Uh-huh. And how do you suggest we hunt magical creatures? Don't we need special gear and stuff?" Vee asked, skeptical yet at the same time cautious. The last thing she needed was her friends getting suspicious about her origins.

"Oh, don't worry, I know some people," Dani reassured, the other three looking at her. There was a short pause, "My aunt is into mystical stuff, she can help us identify any mystical creatures we come across and fight them, and my uncle likes to build stuff, so he can make us creature hunting gear" she added.

"Uh, our parents probably wouldn't want us hunting dangerous creatures," Vee said, trying to talk her out of it.

"Eh, my parents will just think I'm just roleplaying" Dani replied with a shrug.

"Mine would probably be ok with it as long as I'm not out too late on a school night" Beth said.

"My parents won't care" Lance waved it off before hanging his head in disappointment, "They never care..." he muttered to himself.

"Ok, three out of four. What about you, Luz? You in?" Dani looked at the girl.

"This is a very bad idea. I don't want to get innocent civilians from this world involved with inter-dimensional magic. But then again, I won't find another group of individuals wanting to help me find out what's going on with all these sudden incidents involving magical creatures," Vee debated with herself and sigh and she came to an answer.

"Okay, I'm in," Luz said, feeling like the odd one out.

"Alright!" Dani with enthusiasm. "Now, let's get this job started"

Alright, that's the end of chapter 2. Now is the start of the friends' little club. I'm sure they'll face all sorts of creatures as the story progresses.

Speaking of which, if you have ideas for future chapters and/or what creatures Vee and her friends could encounter, say it in a review or feel free to message me.

This chapter was thought up by IrishKatana and was co-written with Clock King 10.
