AN: I have two loves from MHA. Dabi and Hawks. My lord, they're hawt!

Chapter 1 - 6 Months Later

"Baby bird!" Hawks's voice penetrated Tori's thoughts.

It had been a very slow week. It had been 6 months since Endeavor had called and asked Hawks to take her on at his agency. And it had been wonderful. An absolute dream come true. Well almost. Tori had found that she had a problem. A huge, winged problem. She had fallen for her boss. She had fallen for Hawks. What was she going to do? How could she continue to work for him if she's caught feelings?

"Yes, boss?" she asked.

Hawks landed near her and towered over her. He was 5'8" and she barely 5'. Everything and everyone towered over her. But only he made her want to lay her head on his chest and have him wrap his arms and wings around her. She felt safe just being near him. He would make everyone know just how useful she was to him with her quirk. She was his reconnaissance. Her quirk allowed her to change as small as she needed and into whatever she wished. She mostly changed into birds. Like insects they were less likely to be noticed by the enemy.

She had been working for him just a month when they were battling some quirk using villains and one had shot her down. In her humanoid form with wings, she could fight one on one and with weapons. But during this particular fight the villain had shot her through the shoulder and the wing. Bringing her to a crash landing. Also bringing out the flaw in her quirk. When injured she could not change form. The villain came upon her and ground his foot into her wounded shoulder, ripping a scream from her lips. Hawks had come full speed to her rescue. He launched himself into the man that was harming her and knocked him out with one blow. His buddies came rushing over, using their quirks and Hawks launched his feathers at them, effectively taking them out.

The police came and arrested the villains while Hawks scooped her up and flew off with her towards his agency. He had a suite hidden in the building and he took her there to fix her up. He had plenty of experience in mending broken wings and removing bullets from them as well. He laid her on her side, carefully folding her wing under her, exposing her wounded wing and shoulder to be fixed. Quickly he grabbed all the supplies he needed and prepped the area and sanitized her shoulder. She cried out at the pressure he had to apply to clean her wound.

"Shhh, baby bird." he soothed her.

She whimpered as he worked over her. Removing the bullet from her wing was so painful. He packed her shoulder to help staunch the bleeding as he worked on her wing. Removing the bullet then stitching the area and wrapping had her crying into a pillow. She hurt so bad. She tried to be quiet. She did not want to distract him or disappoint him.

"It's alright baby bird. It'll be ok." he said trying to soothe her.

Finishing up with her wing, he moved his attention to fixing her shoulder. He cleaned the back and stitched it up then came to the front of the wound and unpacked it. Thankfully it had staunched the bleeding well enough that it had slowed the bleeding significantly. He cleaned the wound out and stitched her up. The bullet had gone clean through, leaving the wound nice and neat. He stitched as careful as he could, trying to reduce her scarring. Hawks wrapped her shoulder to protect the stitches. He cut her top and bra off of her to get the dirty and bloodied clothes off to reduce infection. Then cleaned her body off from all the blood. Tori had sat there through it all with a bright red face. She was so embarrassed that he had to see her naked. Hawks had brought a clean sheet for her to cover herself with.

No sooner did she receive the cover up did the adrenaline fall. Her body shut down and put her into a deep sleep. She had vague recollections of him caring for her throughout the night. During these recollections she had even vaguer thoughts that he had talked to her while she was in and out of consciousness, calling her my baby bird.

Tori had never asked him about it. She was afraid that it was just a product of her fogged and addled brain at the time. She would be so embarrassed if she asked him about it and he had no idea what she was talking about. Tori refused to do that to herself or to him. So, from afar she would watch him, and she occasionally would catch what looked to be longing glances coming her way from him. He would flirt with her shamelessly further confusing her. It was against the rules for them to be in a relationship. The Hero Association laid out these guidelines and she did not want to risk his position or her own means of income. But it was getting harder and harder.

"Let's get some food. My treat." he said putting his hands behind his head.

"Yeah. I'm starving." she answered and shuffled the paperwork around.

"What strikes your fancy?" he asked as she paperclipped the papers together and she placed them on his desk.

"Not sure. Soba noodles sound good, but then again sticky sweet garlic wings sound so good too." she practically salivated over the wings.

"Wings it is then." he said with a grin and held out his hand.

She accepted his gloved hand with her own. He wanted to fly. Since she could keep up with him flying, he did not have to walk like he would if she was Endeavor or All Might. They walked out onto the balcony, and she slipped her goggles on and they stepped off and into the sky. They flew over the city and landed outside of Aburaya, a great place that had great chicken. No sooner were they landed the paparazzi swarmed them. Well, they swarmed around Hawks trying to push Tori out of the way. Hawks held her firm to his side. Everyone was trying to get his attention on them and answering their questions.

"Now, now, I'm just here to get some chicken." Hawks lightly told them with a wide grin.

Tori had seen that grin a lot. He was being nice even though that was not what he was feeling. He was really wanting to get away. But with his hero status he couldn't just brush them off. No matter how much he wished he could. She touched his shoulder and he leaned towards her. Tori whispered that she was going to order and have it all for take-out so they could get out of there. He handed her his credit card and she swept in while he pacified the paparazzi. By time she had the order in hand and was coming out Hawks was wrapping up his talk to the press. With a chuckle he turned to her and the look in his eyes had her stopping short. His golden eyes were smoldering.

"Alright, I've answered enough questions for now. I'm hungry." He said and approached her, "Got everything?"

"Yeah. I got some glass noodles, rice, tripe and vegetables, and lots of sweet and spicy sticky chicken and a few other things." she answered, holding up the rather large order.

The paparazzi was still trying to get his attention and continue to monopolize his time. And it was beginning to get on his nerves. Without much thought he scooped Tori up and shot up into the sky. She squeaked at the suddenness of his departure.

"Come on baby bird." he said, "Your place or mine?"

"Mine will be fine." she said, "I live just a couple blocks over from the office."

With her navigating Hawks got them to her apartment complex with relative ease. She lived on the top floor and had her own private balcony, which was great since she had a morphing quirk to turn into birds. He landed on her balcony and set her on her feet. She handed him the food and she moved to unlock the balcony door, allowing him to walk in before her. A little jingling bell met his ears and a little orange and white ball streaked across the room right towards him.

"JuJu, mama's home." Tori said and the orange and white fluffy ball of kitty went to her.

She picked up the cat and loved on it for a few minutes. Then she set her down. The cat curled around her legs. Juju was hungry and it was more than time to eat. Tori laughed and stepped forward and went through the bags that Hawks had set on the counter. She separated everything onto the table and grabbed utensils for them to use. Soy and Sesame sauce also followed to the table. She had Hawks sit while she dashed around her kitchen. She knew where everything was so could efficiently do it on her own.

Putting on the kettle for tea and grabbing the sake, she set about then feeding the cat. JuJu was happy to eat. It wasn't long before the kettle whistled, and she poured the water over the tea leaves. She never noticed in her focus that Hawks was watching her hungrily, flit around the kitchen. Hawks had been attracted to her the moment he had met her. You could say that that the scarlet thread had connected them when they met. He was a playboy but when he met his baby bird that all changed. It was during the first month or more specifically when Tori had gotten shot down that it had struck him that he was more than just sexually attracted to her. He was emotionally and physically attracted to her. It had pained him that she had taken a bullet through the shoulder and wing. It had ripped at his soul when he was doctoring her, and she would cry out in pain.

"Sir?" Tori said and held up tea and sake for him to take.

"Thank you." he said and took both from her.

She sat next to him, and they began their meal. They spoke avidly over the shared meal. It was great conversation, easy and unrushed. It felt so natural for them to speak this way. Tori felt a small pang of sadness then. The Hero's Association would not allow them to be together. It was in the handbook. It was getting harder and harder for her to be around him. The more she was around him the deeper she was falling. She was suddenly finished with her meal. The sadness taking her appetite from her. She stood with her dishes and took them to the kitchen, disposing of any scraps and placed the dishes in the dishwasher.

She had her back to the dining room and didn't notice when Hawks came up behind her. She was rinsing the tea kettle out when she felt him press against her back and had each hand placed on the sink next to her, trapping her within his arms as his wings folded around them. The metal tea kettle crashed into the sink.

"How are long are we going to do this dance, baby bird?" he said into her ear.

AN: Yes, I know it's a very perturbing cliffhanger. It is unfortunate that it must stop here but it has to.
