Chapter 41: Gateway into Dark World Part 1
Next up were Atticus and Blair, against Kahkki and Zure of Dark World. Like the duel spirits before them, the fiends scoffed when they saw who they were up against.
"This will be easier than I thought, Zure."
"Indeed. We'll cut these fools down to size before they even know what hit them!"
"We'll see about that. Ready, Blair?"
"You know it!"
GAME ON!
Atticus/Blair: 8000
Zure/Kahkki: 8000
"I'll go first. And to start, I activate Foolish Burial to send Darkblaze Dragon from my deck to the graveyard. Next, I summon Decoy Dragon (300/200) in attack mode! I'll end my turn with one card face down."
"That's all? Allow me to show you a real monster. I summon myself, Zure, Knight of Dark World (1800/1500) in attack mode! Attack his disgrace of a dragon!"
"Looks like someone wasn't paying attention. When Decoy is attacked, I can special summon a Dragon from my graveyard and redirect the attack to him, so come on out Darkblaze Dragon (1200/1000)!"
"Pah! That's only slightly better than your last monster."
"Not for long. See, when he's special summoned from the graveyard, his attack and defense points double (1200-2400/1000-2000)!"
"What?"
Zure tried to charge the dragon, only to be incinerated by its flame breath.
Zure/Kahkki: 74000
"What's more, when Darkblaze Dragon destroys your monster, you lose life points equal to your monster's attack points!"
Zure shielded himself from the back blast, nearly getting knocked off his feet as their life points fell.
Zure/Kahkki: 5600
"Grr, I end my turn with two cards face down and end my turn."
"Lets kick things up a notch. I summon Jain, Lightsworn Paladin (1800/1200) in attack mode! Next, I'll equip her with Lightsworn Saber to give her 700 extra attack points. Now Jain, Darkblaze, attack them directly!"
"Not so fast, I activate the trap card Draining Shield! This cancels your Paladin's attack and gives me life points equal to her attack points!"
A forcefield surrounded them, blocking Jain's sword from going through, but not a fireball from Darkblaze Dragon's mouth.
Zure/Kahkki: 5700
Blair sighed, and looked at her hand.
"I set one card face down and end my turn. Due to Jain's effect, I have to send the top 2 cards of my deck to the graveyard. Sorry, Atticus."
"Hey, no sweat! We'll get them next time."
"If there is one! I'll begin with the spell card Card Destruction! Now we all send the cards in our hand to the graveyard and draw new ones equal to the amount we ditched. And unfortunately for you, doing so activates the effects of three cards in my graveyard: Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World (2300/1400), Sillva, Warlord of Dark World (2300/1400), and Kahkki, Guerilla of Dark World! Goldd and Sillva summon themselves from the graveyard, and Kahkki allows me to destroy one of your monsters, and I choose Darkblaze Dragon! Next, I summon Brron, Mad King of Dark World (1800/400) in attack mode! Lastly, I activate Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy your Saber. Goldd, attack her Paladin!"
"I activate my trap card, Lightsworn Barrier! When you attack one of my Lightsworn monsters, I can mill 2 cards from my deck to negate the attack."
A barrier formed around Jain, protecting her from Goldd's axe.
"Fine then, Sillva, attack Jain!"
"Once more, my Barrier will keep her safe!"
"Humph, lucky draw. I end my turn.
Atticus eyed the card he drew, then their field. A quick nod from Blair was all the confirmation he needed, and so he went through with his play.
"I sacrifice Decoy Dragon and Jain, the Lightsworn Paladin in order to summon Felgrand Dragon (2800/2800) in attack mode!"
A golden, majestic dragon swooped down onto the field, scales shining like diamonds.
"Now Felgrand Dragon, attack his Mad King!"
The Dragon shot out a beautiful beam of fire, burning the skeletal king to ash while their opponents shielded themselves from the attack.
Zure/Kahkki: 4700
"I end my turn there. Your move."
Zure snarled, furious with the current state of the game. But when he saw what card he had drawn, he let out a grim chuckle.
"Uh oh, that can't be good."
"Not, it isn't. FOR YOU, that is! I activate the Ritual Spell, Contract with the Abyss! This lets me Ritual Summon any Dark Ritual Monster from my hand, as long as I offer up monsters whose total levels match up to it exactly. So I tribute La Jin and Gil Garth from my hand to Ritual Summon Dark Master-Zorc (2700/1500)!"
Rising from the portal in the ground was a tall demon, robe blowing in the wind as he stretched out his limbs, ready to drag them down into the depths.
"Big whoop, Felgrand Dragon has more attack points."
"True, but attack points aren't all that matter. I activate Dark Master-Zorc's effect! I roll a die, and what happens next will depend on what number I roll."
Zorc created a single die from pure darkness and tossed it, letting it roll around the arena before coming to a stop on 4.
"That's bad news for you, I'm afraid. When I get a 3, 4, or 5, I can destroy one monster on your field, like Felgrand Dragon. Go, Dark Catastrophe!"
Zorc created an energy ball in his hands before launching it, destroying Atticus's dragon in a grand explosion.
"Now you're wide open. Go, my monsters! Attack these pathetic humans directly!"
Atticus and Blair screamed in pain as the fiends attacked, Goldd and Sillva and their weapons and Zorc with his breath.
Atticus: 700
"Blair, you okay?"
"Never...better..."
"That'll teach you to talk back to your superiors. I set one card face down and end my turn."
These fools don't realize how doomed they truly are. Even if they can summon a monster strong enough to beat over Zorc, my Draining Shield will protect us. And I'm more than certain Kahkki can finish them off!
"This duel is over! First, I activate Dian Keto the Cure Master to give us 1000 life points (700-1700)! Now, since I have at least 4 Lightsworn monsters in my graveyard, I can unveil my strongest monster: Judgement Dragon (3000/2600)!"
"What? How? The only Lightsworn that should be in your graveyard is your Paladin!"
"Fool, she's been sending them to the graveyard the whole time!"
"Wow, you're smarter than you look. Too bad it won't help you!"
"What do you mean? Even is you destroy our weakest monster, we'll still have more than enough life points to crush you next turn."
"You would, if I was going to attack your monsters. By paying 1000 life points, Judgement Dragon can destroy all other cards on the field!"
"What (1700-700)?!"
"Go, Final Judgement!"
The giant dragon flew up high, charging a massive energy blast before unleashing it. The creatures of darkness had only a split second to look up in horror before the beam hit, eradicating them instantly.
"Next, I activate Monster Reborn to bring back Jain. Attack them directly and end this duel!"
The two attacks sent the Dark World soldiers flying, collapsing in a heap against the far wall while their life points hit zero.
Zure/Kahkki: 0000
Atticus/Blair wins!
