Brie was standing outside the Lynnwood Inn as she watches a truck go past the neon sign that says Hotel which was the hotel that they were staying at for the time being.
Her phone bleeps, she looks down at her phone and it was another message from Damon demanding to know where Elena was and why she wasn't contacting him back. Another message bleeped onto her screen which said he would tie Bonnie up and force her do a locator spell to find out where Elena was. Bonnie promised them before they left that she wouldn't let Damon or the others know where they were headed which she was grateful for. She knew Bonnie could handle Damon but she was worried cause Damon will go to extreme lengths to find Elena and bring her back to Mystic Falls.
Before she could reply her phone rung, she hesitated to answer it but she accepted the call. "Look Damon, I know your worried about Elena but she's fine. She's with me and I won't let anything happen to her. She just wants some time alone away from Mystic Falls"
"Look Blondie, I don't care what Elena wants. I need her back in Mystic Falls where she is safe so I can keep an eye on her"
Brie rolls her eyes "Real original with the nicknames Damon" she says as she know that's what he calls Caroline "Elena is a big girl Damon, she can take care of herself"
"Yeah when she was a vampire and even at that she was reckless. If she's not back in Mystic Falls by the end of the week then I am coming after her" Damon threatened.
"And how will you do that? Bonnie certainly won't help you. She promised Elena she wouldn't help any of you's look for us. She also thinks its a good idea for Elena to get away" Brie argued.
"Don't need Bonnie. I can find another witch who could help"
"Only way you could get a witch to help you Damon is that you would need to compel her and even that is impossible because witches can't be compelled so that will be in a flaw in your plan" Brie was ready to hang up on him "If you come looking for Elena, she's going to hate you more than what she does now. Give her time and I promise I'll bring her back myself"
Damon ignores what she says "Like I said, I give you a week to bring her back. If not I am coming for her myself" before hanging up the phone.
Brie sighs as she looks in the window where she see's Elena seated next to Dean at the table. She puts her phone in her back pocket before entering the restaurant. She walks into the restaurant where the others were sat in and saw that there was a mostly empty plate in front of Dean, who is circling obituaries in a newspaper with Elena sat next to him drinking a milkshake. She sits down in front of Dean who circles an obituary that reads: The Carlton family is sad to announce the death of their beloved daughter in a tragic swimming accident. Sophie Carlton, 18.
An attractive waitress approaches the table "Can I get you anything else?" She ignores the girls and looks straight towards Dean with a flirty smile on her face.
Dean looks up and grins around the pen he's chewing on when Sam comes over and sits down next to Brie "Just the check, please"
Wendy nods and walks away. Brie smirks at Sam's cock blocking skills. Dean drops his head, then looks at Sam. "You know, Sam, we are allowed to have fun once in a while" Dean points to Wendy walking away who was
wearing short shorts "That's fun"
Sam looks at him not amused "Here, take a look at this" Dean hands Sam the newspaper. "I think I got one. Lake Manitoc, Wisconsin. Last week Sophie Carlton, eighteen, walks into the lake, doesn't walk out. Authorities dragged the water, nothing. Sophie Carlton is the third Lake Manitoc drowning this year. None of the other bodies were found either. They had a funeral two days ago"
"How can they have a funeral with no body?" Brie questions.
Dean shrugs his shoulders "Yeah, it's weird, they buried an empty coffin. For, uh, closure or whatever"
"Closure? What closure? People don't just disappear, Dean. Other people just stop looking for them" Sam exclaims, a little frustrated. Brie and Elena watch in between the brothers as there is tension between the two.
Dean's face drops and he became annoyed "Something you want to say to me?"
"The trail for Dad. It's getting colder every day" Sam says as Brie remembers the conversation she had with Sam when they were looking for Elena and Dean when they were kidnapped by that Windigo. Something about the hunt for their dad who has been missing for weeks.
"Exactly. So what are we supposed to do?" She heard Dean as he questioned Sam.
Sam shrugs his shoulders "I don't know. Something. Anything" Elena and Brie looked at each other as they knew an argument was coming.
Dean slams the pen down on the table which startled Elena who was next to him "You know what? I'm sick of this attitude. You don't think I wanna find Dad as much as you do?"
"Yeah, I know you do, it's just-" Sam began but got interrupted by Dean.
Dean "I'm the one that's been with him every single day for the past two years, while you've been off to college going to pep rallies" Sam looked down feeling somewhat guilty that he wasn't there when his family clearly needed him "We will find Dad, but until then, we're gonna kill everything bad between here and there. Okay?"
Sam rolls his eyes as Wendy walks by, distracting Dean. She bends down to get some clean cutlery from the bottle drawer.
"All right, Lake Manitoc" Sam agrees as he looks at Dean who was too preoccupied being a perv for the waitress across from him.
Dean returns his attention to the table "How comes you girls don't wear anything like that?" He pointed to Wendy who was serving another table.
"Because we don't want you perving on us like you are doing just now with that waitress" Brie folded her arms onto the table as she stares down Dean.
"You a prude?" Elena chokes on her milkshake when she hears Dean's question to Brie.
"Wouldn't you like to know" Brie smiles back at Dean who offers her a smirk.
"Hey!" Sam says, not liking the teasing thats happening between Dean and Brie who look over at him "How far?" Sam says, changing the conversation.
The Impala pulls up in front of the Carlton house as Dean cuts the engine.
"Will this work?" Elena asks from the backseat as Dean hands them both ID's he got done a few days ago "Won't they get suspicious that there is 4 of us on their doorstep?"
"Done this sorta thing a few times with 3 people. Whats another person?" Dean shrugs as he gets out the car, with the others following pursuit. Dean knocks on the door. and Will Carlton opens it. "Will Carlton?"
"Yeah, that's right" he says, confused as to why there are 4 people on their doorstep.
"I'm Agent Ford. This is Agent Hamill, Agent Campbell and Agent Taylor. We're with the US Wildlife Service. Dean holds up an ID. Will looks at the girls "They are here on training"
Bill Carlton is sitting on the bench on the dock as Will brings Sam, Dean, Brie and Elena around to see him. "She was about a hundred yards out" He points to the middle of the lake "That's where she got dragged down"
"And you're sure she didn't just drown?"
Will nods his head "Yeah. She was a varsity swimmer. She practically grew up in that lake. She was as safe out there as she was in her own bathtub"
"So no splashing? No signs of distress?" Brie asks.
Will sighs "No, that's what I'm telling you"
"Did you see any shadows in the water? Maybe some dark shape breach the surface?" Brie asks again.
Will shakes his head "No. Again, she was really far out there"
"You ever see any strange tracks by the shoreline?" Elena questions.
"No, never. Why? Why, what do you think's out there?"
"We'll let you know as soon as we do" Dean heads back to the car along with Brie and Elena.
"What about your father?" Sam asks as Dean stops and turns back. "Can we talk to him?"
Will turns to look at his dad, then turns back "Look, if you don't mind, he didn't see anything and he's kind of been through a lot"
Sam nods his head "We understand" Sam and Dean go to the car where Brie and Elena are stood.
Sheriff Jake Devins talks to Sam, Brie, Elena and Dean. "Now, I'm sorry, but why does the Wildlife Service care about an accidental drowning?"
"You sure it's accidental? Will Carlton saw something grab his sister"
"Like what?" They walk into Jake's office. Jake motions to chairs in front of his desk. "Here, sit, please. There are no indigenous carnivores in that lake" Sam, Dean, Elena and Brie sit "There's nothing even big enough to pull down a person, unless it was the Loch Ness Monster"
"Yeah" Dean laughs "Right" Sam glances at Dean.
"Will Carlton was traumatized, and sometimes the mind plays tricks" Jake sits down. "We dragged that entire lake. We even ran a sonar sweep, just to be sure, and there was nothing down there"
"That's weird, though, I mean, that's, that's the third missing body this year"
"I know. These are people from my town. These are people I care about. Anyway..." Jake sighs "All this it won't be a problem much longer"
Dean raises an eyebrow "What do you mean?"
"Well, the dam, of course" Jake says as if he is sounding the obvious "It's falling apart, and the feds won't give us the grant to repair it, so they've opened the spillway. In another six months, there won't be much of a lake. There won't be much of a town, either. But as Federal Wildlife, you already knew that" Jake said, knowing there is something off with these guys.
"Exactly" Dean nodded.
A Young Woman, taps on the door "Sorry, am I interrupting?" Everyone stands up "I can come back later"
"Ladies, Gentleman, this is my daughter" Jake introduces as he walks over to her.
"It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Dean" Dean shakes Andrea's hand.
"Andrea Barr" She introduces.
"They're from the Wildlife Service. About the lake"
Before she could say anything a boy, walks in around Andrea.
"Oh, hey there. What's your name?" Dean bends down in front of him. Lucas walks away without speaking. Andrea follows him out the room.
"His name is Lucas" Jake says as they watch Lucas and Andrea are in the main room. Andrea gives him some crayons out of a box.
"Is he okay?" Brie enquired.
"My grandson's been through a lot. We all have" Jake stands and goes to the office door. "Well, if there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know" Dean, Sam, Brie, Elena and Jake leave the office.
"Thanks" Dean looks at Andrea "You know, now that you mentioned it, could you point us in the direction of a reasonably priced motel?"
"Lakefront Motel. Go around the corner. It's about two blocks south" Andrea directed.
"Two-would you mind showing us?" Dean asks
Andrea laughs "You want me to walk you two blocks?"
"Not if it's any trouble"
Andrea nodded "I'm headed that way anyway" Andrea turns to Jake "I'll be back to pick up Lucas at three" She turns to Lucas "We'll go to the park, okay, sweetie?" Andrea kisses Lucas on the head. Dean waves as they leave. Jake nods.
"Thanks again" Brie smiles as they leave.
Andrea leads them along the street. Dean breaks the silence "So, cute kid"
Andrea smiles "Thanks" They cross a street.
"Kids are the best, huh?" Andrea glances at him and ignores Dean. They keep walking. They stop in front of a building that says Lakefront Motel.
"There it is. Like I said, two blocks"
Elena thanks her. Andrea addresses Dean. "Must be hard, with your sense of direction, never being able to find your way to a decent pickup line" Andrea leaves, calling back over her shoulder "Enjoy your stay!"
Elena and Brie both burst out laughing as Dean turns around and glares at them "Yeah ha, ha" he says sarcastically.
Sam smirks "Kids are the best'? You don't even like kids"
Dean tries to defend himself "I love kids"
Sam rolls his eyes "Name three children that you even know" Dean thinks and comes up empty. Sam waves a hand and walks into the motel.
Dean scratches his head "I'm thinking!"
