In the hotel room, Dean is on the computer while Sam is drawing a picture of a tree while Elena walks into their room and sits down on the bed next to Sam. "Where's Brie?" Dean asks as he watched Elena come into the room.
"She's in the shower, I got bored waiting so came to see what you guys are up to" She looks down at Sam and see's him drawing a tree, she raises her eyebrows as she found it a bit random.
Dean shut off after Elena mentioned Brie in the shower. He had a mental image of a naked Brie as he started to feel a little hot under the collar. He clears his throat "All right. I've been cruisin' some websites. I think I found a few candidates for our next gig. A fishing trawler found off the coast of Cali, its crew vanished. And we got some cattle mutilations in West Texas" Dean looks up from the computer and see's that Sam isn't paying attention "Hey" Sam looks up from his drawing "Am I boring you with this hunting evil stuff?"
Sam shakes his head "No I'm listening, keep going"
Dean continued "And here, a Sacramento man shot himself in the head. Three times" He waves his hand in front of Sam's face "Any of these things blowin' up your skirt pal?
Sam looks at his picture "Wait. I've seen this"
"Seen what?" Elena asks as Sam gets up from the bed and goes searching through his duffel bag.
"What are you doing?" Dean asks as Sam finds a photo of their family from when he was a baby. He compares the tree in the photo to his drawing, they are the same
"Dean, I know where we have to go next"
"Where?" Dean asks.
"Back home, back to Kansas"
Dean shakes his head promptly "Okay, random. Where'd that come from?"
Sam shows the photo to Dean "All right this photo was taken in front of our old house, right? The house where Mom died?" Dean nods as Sam continues "And it didn't burn down, right? I mean not completely they rebuilt it, right?"
"I guess so, yeah. What the hell are you talkin' about?"
"Okay, look, this is gonna sound crazy but the people who live in our old house" Sam pauses "I think they might be in danger"
"Why would you think that?"
Sam didn't know what to say "Uh look just trust me on this, okay?"
Dean and Elena share a look "Wait, whoa, trust you"Sam nods his head "Come on, man, that's weak. You gotta give me a little bit more than that"
Sam shakes his head "I can't really explain it is all"
"Well, tough. I'm not goin' anywhere until you do"
Sam sighs as Dean waits expectantly "I have these nightmares"
Dean nods "I've noticed"
"And sometimes they come true"
Dean looks stunned "Come again?"
"Look, Dean I dreamt about Jessica's death for days before it happened" Sam says trying to get his point across"
"Sam, people have weird dreams, man. I'm sure it's just a coincidence" Dean sits down on the bed next to Elena
"No, I dreamt about the blood dripping, her on the ceiling, the fire, everything and I didn't do anything about it 'cause I didn't believe it. And now I'm dreaming about that tree, about our house and about some woman inside screaming for help. I mean, that's where it all started, man, this has to mean something, right?"
Dean is overwhelmed "I don't know"
Sam sits down across from Dean and Elena, who is sitting there quiet "What do you mean you don't know, Dean? This woman might be in danger. I mean, this might even be the thing that killed Mom and Jessica!" Sam yells.
"All right, just slow down, would ya?" Dean stands up and begins pacing "I mean, first you tell me that you've got the Shining? And then you tell me that I've gotta go back home? Especially when..."
"When what?" Sam interrupts.
"When I swore to myself that I would never go back there?" Dean says as his eyes start watering slightly.
"Look, Dean, we have to check this out. Just to make sure" Sam says softly.
"I know we do"
Once Brie finished off in the shower and everyone got ready they headed off back to their old home.
Dean and Sam pull up outside the house.
"This is where you guys used to live?" Brie asks as she takes a look around.
Sam looked at his brother "You gonna be all right, man?"
"Let me get back to you on that" They get out of the car. After knocking on the front door, Jenny answers the door. Sam is shocked that she is the same woman from his dream.
"Yes?" She asks, standing in the doorway with her hand on the door.
"Sorry to bother you, ma'am, but we're with the Federal" Dean starts.
Sam interrupts him" I'm Sam Winchester, this is my brother, Dean and our friend Elena and Brianna" Sam introduces as they give her a small wave which Jenny response with a smile "We used to live here. You know, we were just driving by and we were wondering if we could come see the old place"
Jenny perks up when she hears their last name "Winchester. Yeah, that's so funny you know, I think I found some of your photos the other night"
"You did?" Dean asks
Jenny nods and steps aside "Come on in"
They go inside the house, the five of them go to the kitchen. Sari is at the table doing homework. Ritchie, her jumpy toddler brother, is in his playpen.
"Juice! Juice! Juice! Juice!" Ritchie chants with w cheeky smile on his face.
"That's Ritchie. He's kind of a juice junkie" Jenny takes a sippy cup out of the refrigerator and hands it to Ritchie "But, hey, at least he won't get dirty"
Brie walks over to the little boy and smiles "May I?" She asks as she hints to opening the playpen to play.
Jenny smiles and nods "Of course" Brie opens the playpen and closed it behind her to play with the kid. Elena smiles before following the over into the kitchen.
Jenny walks over to Sari. "Sari, this is Sam and Dean. They used to live here"
"Hi" Dean and Elena wave.
"Hey" Sari greets.
"So, you just moved in?" Sam asks.
"Yeah, from Wichita" Jenny replies.
"You got family here, or?" Dean asks.
"No. I just needed a fresh start, that's all. So new town, new job, I mean as soon as I find one. New house"
Sam puts his hands in his pockets "So, how you likin' it so far?"
"Well all due respect to your childhood home I mean, I'm sure you had lots of happy memories here" She says as Dean smiles weakly "But this place has its issues"
Sam raises an eyebrow "What do you mean?"
"Well, it's just getting old. Like the wiring, you know? We've got flickering lights almost hourly" Jenny says.
"Oh, that's too bad. What else?" Dean asks.
"Um" She starts to think "Sinks backed up, there's rats in the basement" She pauses "I'm sorry. I don't mean to complain"
Dean isn't offended "No. Have you seen the rats or have you just heard scratching?"
"It's just the scratching, actually"
"Mom?" Kari calls as Jenny kneels down next to her. "Ask them if it was here when they lived here"
"What, Sari?"
"The thing in my closet" Kari says looking at her mom.
"Oh, no, baby, there was nothing in their closets" She looks at the others for clarification "Right?"
"No, of course not sweetie" Elena says with a soft smile.
"She had a nightmare the other night" Jenny explains.
"I wasn't dreaming" Kari defended "It came into my bedroom" She looks at Sam and Dean "And it was on fire" Sam and Dean are shocked.
Brie, Elena Dean and Sam are walking back to the car
"You hear that? A figure on fire" Sam says.
"That woman, Jenny, that was the woman in your dreams?" Brie asks.
Sam nods his head "Yeah and you hear what she was talking about? Scratching, flickering lights, both signs of a malevolent spirit"
"Yeah, well, I'm just freaked out that your weirdo visions are comin' true"
Sam panicked "Well, forget about that for a minute. The thing in the house, do you think it's the thing that killed Mom and Jessica?"
"I don't know!" Dean yells.
"Well, I mean has it come back or has it been here the whole time?"
"Or maybe it's something else entirely" Dean points out "Sam, we don't know yet"
"Well, those people are in danger, Dean. We have to get 'em out of that house"
"And we will" Elena says putting her hand on his arm.
Sam shakes his head "No, I mean now"
"And how you gonna do that, huh? You got a story that she's gonna believe?"
"Then what are we supposed to do?" Brie asks.
