Age Of Carnage

Chapter 1

The sound of shoes taped on the floor like a chorus at a musical. The whisk of deep sweat passed through the nostrils of everyone in the hall. Everyone seemed to ignore it as the thought of chatting with their friends were loaded in their mind. One person, in particular, seemed to stick out like a sore thumb.

His name was Darius Virbank, and you may be asking the question, what made him stand out? Well for one, his hair color. His hair was a deep shade of purple, making people think of him as some delinquent. His outlook didn't help him either, his face constantly wore a scowl, one that screamed 'don't talk to me'. And that was what made people steer clear of him. Darius had dark skin and a lean figure, he was fit and athletic but nothing akin to a broad, muscular man.

Darius's school didn't have a dress code thankfully, so he wore a casual black t-shirt with pitch black cargo trousers with multiple white straps and white boots with red stripes.

"Ha, look at the fat bastard again," A voice said followed up by a choir of laughter.

Darius looked down the hall with a curious gaze. He saw a group of boys surrounding someone, who had a chubby build, and from what Darius could make out, the kid had dual-colored hair of black and gray on the sides.

"How many burgers do you think he ate this morning? Fifty?"

Darius snickered as he decided to take action, walking through the crowded halls with his eyes peirced on the jocks.

The leader of the jocks was named Marcus Davidson. He had shaggy gray hair with hazel brown eyes. The jocks all wore white shorts with beige pants and red and white jackets with the school logo on the back which was a large B.

"Nah, he ate more than that!" Marcus said loudly for everyone in the hall to hear. "Now listen, You owe us money, pay up."

"He doesn't need to pay anything," A voice from behind Marcus said, getting the jock to turn around.

"What? Darius, what do you want?" Marcus said a little confused by what Darius was doing. "Can't you see that we're busy?"

Darius rose a doughty brow. "It looks like you're messing with Wade again, and the last thing I need is Wade crying on his way back home again."

Marcus's eyes widened in a brief moment of shock as Darius was actually taking a side. "Tch, I didn't expect you of all people to take up for this fatso."

Darius's blank face turned into a momentary flash of anger, making the jocks flinch. "I'm not taking up for Wade, I'm doing this for myself and others. You and your band of piss-sharing idiots can take a hike."

Marcus and the other jocks stammered for a minute and immediately ran down the hall away from Darius and Wade. Darius looked back to stare down anyone who was going to speak and thankfully no one did, most of them seemed relieved someone had the balls to talk down on Marcus.

"T-Thanks…" Wade spoke shyly, which slightly irked Darius as his anger was still present on his face.

"Don't thank me, gain some balls and then thank me," Darius said as he walked to his upcoming class.

"Hey wait! We got the same class!"

Darius didn't stop when Wade spoke, getting the latter to run up, screeching the floors as he ran. Darius turned his head to look at Wade, his resident scowl on his face.

"Me stepping up for you doesn't mean we're friends, this is Bronx High, get your head in the game," Darius stated harshly as he continued to peer at Wade.

"Oh, c'mon, you can use a friend," Wade said with a little more bravado as he was getting used to being around Darius.

A faulty brow rose from Darius. "Yeah…right, I don't need a friend."

The rest of the school day went by fast for Wade and slow for Darius. Darius and Wade made their way out of the front gates of their school and walked down the street. Darius looked annoyed by being with Wade, but Wade had that overly shy yet bold look on his face.

Darius's eyes landed on the group in front of him, like some sort of blockade just for him, getting him to sigh as it was Marcus and his fodder friends.

"Well, look at this, Mary and Sue! What are you two going to do now, kiss?" Marcus laughed as he punched his fist into a palm. "Darius, you owe me for looking like a bitch earlier, and I'm here to collect."

Darius tilted his head and his lips straightened as he knew this wasn't going to be a simple talk and walk. Darius dropped his bookbag and cracked his fingers. Wade seeing this, picked up Darius's bookbag and stepped to the left to avoid getting hit by any stray punches.

"I didn't realize I was at the bridge toll, but sure, if you want payment, maybe my fist will suffice?"

Darius and Marcus didn't waste any second as they ran at each other, both their fist cocked back and ready to make contact with the other. Darius made first contact with Marcus's eyes as midway he uncurled his fist and stuck a finger in Marcus's left eye.

"AK, MY EYE!"

Wade's eyes widened in surprise as he didn't expect foul play from Darius.

"Did you think I was going to fight you fairly? You must be a bigger fool than I thought, Marcus," Darius said as he followed up with a spartan kick to Marcus, sending the jock to the ground. "Next time you think about messing with Wade or anyone else, I will pluck both your eyes out."

Marcus scrambled on the ground and picked himself up, covering his left eye, his teeth baring at Darius. "Just you wait, I'll get you back!" Marcus and the jocks all walked away, leaving Darius and Wade behind.

"That went better than I originally thought," Darius said with a small smile appearing on his face.

"Did you have to poke him in the eye?"

Darius gave him a light chuckle. "My grandfather always told me to go for the eyes or the balls. I didn't want to make Marcus not have kids in the future, right?"

"Y-Yeah…I guess so, but still, that makes you a dirty fighter," Wade argued, but Darius shrugged.

"I could care less about fighting fair, as long as I win, that's all I care about," Darius remarked blankly with a shallow stare.

"What exactly are we dealing with?"

"I'm not sure what this…thing is, it's parasitic in nature."

Two scientists stared in deep thought as they were taking in the sight of a red, goop-like creature. It was pacing around the glass at an erratic pace. The scientist jumped back as the creature banged against the glass, each bang louder than the last.

"So, what do we call it?"

"If we can go based on its behavior, I'd call it a basher."

"You suck at names, Vince," The one named Vince was a dark-skinned, middle-aged man with black and purple hair. He wore a pair of white, round glasses. He wore the standard white lab coat, but in a way that the coat looked like a cape. He wore a professional white shirt and black pants with brown boots.

"I don't think so, Darla," Plainly said Vince to the one named Darla. Darla wore the same thing Vince wore, except she wore her coat the professional way.

Darla huffed as she wasn't going to discuss further on this topic of names. "We'll call it Basher, Project Basher."

"Project?" Vince asked as he furrowed a puzzled brow.

"That's right, we don't know much about this lifeform except it being a parasite," Darla said, the red glob banged against the glass hard shortly after.

Vince looked at Basher with a solemn gaze. "I think calling it a parasite makes it act rashly…irritated."

"Are you jotting this down? We need to write down everything about this…Basher," Darla went to the left to grab a notepad and quickly wrote down what they just witnessed. Vince looked at Darla and flicked his eyebrows.

"Well, we can write down it definitely has some sort of intellect if it can react to our words, even if it is concealed in that dense glass," Vince added.

Vince slapped his forehead as something just popped up in his head. "Darius is supposed to be coming by, school should have ended now, come, let's go greet him."

Darla sighed as she forgot about Darius. "Right, let's go." Darla and Vince walked out of the room, blissfully unaware that 'Basher' was making its way out of the glass.

Vince was Darius's father and Darla was his aunt. The sibling duo has been working as biologists ever since they were young, having always wanted to learn more about organisms. However, when they found that goop thingy, they were at a roadblock in their career. It was a living, parasitic organism. At least, that's what they could entail from the short duration of their studies.

However, was the parasite beneficial to humans? And if so, could they possibly use it to help humans with diseases and other abnormalities. Vince and Darla weren't bad biologists, the world had many corrupt scientists that go too far in their research. Vince and Darla weren't like that at all. They worked for Emil Hamilton at Cadmus, however, Vince and Darla didn't want anyone to learn about Project Basher.

They knew if Hamilton found out about it, he would try and take it for himself for his Anti-Superman project. They were not a part of that, as they felt that Superman was doing some good, but they weren't blindly ignorant of the fact Superman can be a threat to Humanity if he wasn't left in check.

"Hey, Pops," The bland tone Darius called out to his father. Darius then turned to his Aunt and hugged her. "And hello, Aunt Darla. I'm surprised you got Dad to come out of his lab."

Vince just chuckled nervously as he rubbed his neck. Darla had returned the hug and patted Darius on the head. Darla was also a rather tall individual, having grown to a staggering 6'2, which was an above-average height for women. Darius was only 5'9.

"When are you going to stop patting my head?"

Darla just smiled at Darius's callous tone. She was used to Darius not expressing many emotions, but she came to realize that was Darius's way of happiness, despite not showing it. The eyes were the biggest betrayer. "When you graduate Highschool, young man."

Darius held in his breath as he knew his Aunt was being serious. "I'm not going to argue today."

"You got any homework?" Vince asked his son with a steely tone, wanting to move past all the banter. Vince ignored the hardened glare from his sister.

Darius snorted to himself. He knew his father wasn't going to ask about how his day was, only getting straight to business it seemed, and that ruined the relationship between him and his dad. He loved his Dad, don't get him wrong, but he also hated the man with all his heart. He didn't know how to explain it, it was just a love-hate relationship, although, Darius tried his best not to show his distaste for his dad.

"I did it already," Was the quick and narrow answer from Darius.

"Homework is called Homework for a reason, Darius," Pinching the bridge of his nose, Vince turned around to walk down the hall in the lab. "We're going to be late today, so I suppose doing your Homework on the way here was..practical."

Darius inwardly scowled at his father's lack of parental skills. Darius just wanted to run away, to live on his own, but he was just a seventeen-year-old with minimal independence skills.

Maybe that should change.

Darius followed his father down the hall, gazing at the open doors to see what was inside. Vince stopped which got Darius to stop and probe the room they were in. "Stay here, don't leave, understood?"

"Yeah…"

Darius watched his father walk away, and once he was out of sight, Darius punched the wall in the room, so much it caused a dent in the blank white walls. The room wasn't anything fancy, it had a TV, a chair and a bed. Darius found that most of his time was spent here in this lab.

Darius was quick to throw off his clothes and swap into his PJs, which were pale white with black swirls. Darius jumped on the bed, making a loud creaking sound, and turned on the TV, what was currently on was a show called Bakugan, one of Darius's favorite shows to rewatch.

Unknown to Darius, a red substance flowed from the vent over him.

"Wonder, why Dad is going to be late today…I should…AWK!" Darius hitched as he felt something attack his head. "WHAT THE FUCK!" Darius saw the red goop as it entered his body. "AUNTY!"

Darius's screams were heard and Darla was already on the scene. Her eyes widened as the body half of Darius's body was some sort of red, protective substance….like Basher.

"BASHER?"

Darius's whole body changed, growing taller before Darla's eyes. The figure now was colored in a deep, blood red with black lines surrounding the whole body, its eyes were large, almost curved, and snow white in color. It had an array of pitch black teeth and sharpened claws.

The red figure's eyes fixated on Darla, who was frozen stiff. "You called us…a parasite, I should eat your lungs! But this host…he's…against that. We're a perfect match! Gahaha! Well, see you later aunty…the world needs a bit of…CARNAGE!"

END

I took some inspiration from Bladewolf101's ongoing stories called 'An Avenging Devil' and 'Venom: Gotham's Lethal Protector'. Big fan of his stories, so give him a try.

As you can see, I changed up a LOT. Carnage is not Venom's child in this story. He's his own separate being. Venom will appear later as I progress this story. I only have one arc planned out so far, so it may be a short story if anything.

Now here's where I ask you guys for some help on the Pairings, depending on the pairing (s) that will affect how I write this story from chapter 2

With that said, Leave a review, it'll help.
