Jesse's face burned with embarrassment, and he was sure his face was the color of a ripe tomato. He pulled himself up and looked up awkwardly at Mike and Rachel. Thankfully, for the sake of his dignity his two co-workers managed to keep their laughter in.

Jesse swallowed his wounded pride and began to breathlessly tell them of his discovery. "It's a huge break, the stories contradict each other and there's evidence of actual malice…"

"Okay woah there buddy slow it down" Mike said with a grin on his face, "Try again and this time use words." Jesse blushed and explained it again.

Harvey Specter got back from the partner meeting to find the trio he requested sitting on the couch. "Alright what do we have." The trio reported back their findings. Mike had also found an important loophole.

"Okay you three good work", Harvey said, "My PI Vanessa has been on the case and has found out some crucial facts. Jesse's instinct was right. Vanessa found the three friends in the article. They said Emma told them a completely different story. She told them she went to the party alone and they didn't notice the bruises that Emma claimed she had."

"She told the magazine a date took her to the party", Rachel said, her brown eyes lighting up with triumph.

"Yep", Harvey replied smiling," But there's more it turns out her so-called date was never a student at the school. She literally made up her date."

"So, what now?", Jesse asked. Harvey's eyes twinkled, "Write a retraction demand letter."

It was 12:30 at night when Jesse finally left. The magazine when faced with the evidence decided to cut its losses and retract the article. He, Mike, Rachel and Harvey all celebrated with a glass of scotch when the news came.

Jesse was walking out of the building and ready to walk to the subway when a familiar voice called out to him. He turned and noticed Harvey beckoning him toward a fancy looking car. "Hey, I'll give you a ride kid."

"Oh, thank you sir, I was going to take the subway...".

"Yeah, no you're not taking the subway at 12:30 in New York City alone it's not safe", Harvey said firmly. Realizing, that this man wasn't going to take no for an answer Jesse got in.

Harvey was stunned at the kid's naivety. He was glad he caught him before he went on the subway alone. He made a calculated guess that back home the kid didn't have to worry about that sort of thing. He decided to break the awkward silence. "Jesse what made you wanna come here?", he asked. The kid's green eyes lit up, "I always wanted to", he said, "Even when I was a little one, I'd talk about how I was gonna go to the Big Apple and make it. I drove my cousins crazy. "Jesse smiled wistfully. Harvey suddenly realized they were at Jesse's address. "Good job today", he told the kid who thanked him politely with his trademark shy smile. Harvey watched him enter the building. He had a good feeling about, the kid he was smart, but he needed more confidence. Sometimes, he looked back and thought maybe he should've given more praise to Mike when he first hired him. He sighed and told Ray to take him home.

Jesse got walked into his building and upstairs to his apartment. He opened the door quietly.

"Where the fuck have you been slut?" The lights turned on revealing a very angry Jamie. He grabbed Jesse and pulled him close. The stench of cheap vodka was on his breath. Jesse was initially too shocked to answer. "Are you gonna fucking answer, its nearly one in the morning!?"

"Jamie, you're being paranoid I'm a lawyer you know I work long hours," Jesse replied his voice shaking, "I'm going to bed I can't deal with you like this..." His voice was cut short when Jamie slapped him powerfully across his face. "Don't talk back to me", he yelled. "I'm sorry", Jesse said and ran to the bedroom where he sobbed himself to sleep.

Jamie woke him the next morning. His apologetic blue yes stared at Jesse in the morning light. "I'm sorry baby", he said giving him a kiss. Jesse smiled giving him a kiss back. He wasn't going to pretend what happened the previous night was okay, but Jesse knew in his heart that his boyfriend loved him. He had hit him once before, but he deserved it. He was always so tender and sweet with him and made him feel so lucky. "I know ", Jesse replied, "I love you". The two ate breakfast and Jesse left for work.

James Tichner watched out the window as the thin frame of his boyfriend retreated down the sidewalk. How satisfying it had been to watch those radiant green eyes light up at his apology. His Jesse was so naïve and trusting that he wondered how he ever became a lawyer. It was this trait that Jamie found so adorable and endearing, but also posted the biggest threat to him. He had done his research about Jesse's firm and knew about that distasteful cad Harvey Specter. Harvey was a rich pretty boy who slept around with any woman who had a pulse. He didn't know if Harvey liked men, but he couldn't be sure. He was terrified Harvey would take away his sweet Jesse from him. The very thought of Harvey running his hands through those beautiful, brown curls made him sick. But not today he'd let every Harvard douche and harlot who worked at that firm that his sweet Jesse was his alone.
