Jamie's soft German accent woke him up. "Hey Liebchen", he said giving him a kiss. Jesse smiled. His boyfriend was such a romantic. He also was originally from Germany, and the word meant sweetheart, and he loved when Jamie used it. He realized Jamie was in a suit and had a bag packed. "Where are you going", he asked.
Jamie frowned," Liebchen I have to go to Germany, my aunt is dying." Jesse gave him a hug. "I'm so sorry, is it Aunt Clara in Nuremburg."
Jamie nodded. "How long will you be gone I know I haven't been on the job, but with what happened yesterday I could probably convince them to let me come with you" Jesse started to say but Jamie shook his head."
"You should stay here its only your third day on the job, and I'll only be gone four days, Liebchen", Jamie said softly running his hand through his curls. "Okay, I'll miss you babe, text or call okay," Jesse responded giving Jamie a kiss.
Jamie smirked walking out of the apartment. Of course, his naïve boyfriend bought his lies hook, line and sinker. He was so trusting it was adorable. There was no Aunt Clara in Nuremburg, she was a mere fabrication that he used at work to get time off, and as a cover story for Jesse. He was going to meet up with some old gay friends in Berlin and they were going to go clubbing, drinking and snort copious amounts of cocaine. It had been so long since he had done cocaine, he could already feel the powdered drug going up his nose. Jesse didn't need to know of course.
Work was hectic enough for him to forget about how much he missed Jamie. He ended up staying at work very late at night working on briefs Harvey had handed him. Then Jamie called him. Being sure that he was the last one at the firm, he put Jamie on speaker. "What's happening Liebchen?", his boyfriend drawled. "Oh, babe I'm swamped here it's nearly 12 and I'm still here," Jesse responded," Harvey was literally on my ass all day today driving me nuts."
Jamie laughed, "You work too much, have you even eaten? You're too thin Liebchen, my mother would be practically force feeding you to put some weight on those bones." Jesse laughed and then said good night. He was walking toward the elevators, when a voice nearly scared him out of his suit. He turned around and saw Rachel, Mike and Donna smiling at him. "You scared the shit out of me!", Jesse exclaimed laughing, "I thought I was all alone."
"We were going to the bar right near us for a quick drink, wanna come?", Mike asked with a smile. They all looked so friendly and inviting, and Jesse knew he needed more friends outside of Jamie. So, he said yes.
One drink quickly became three, and the trio were laughing and joking like old friends. Mike had told a story about Harvey's jokes of sleeping with Louis's pretend wife, and Jesse laughed like a hyena. Good to see him happy, he's fun to be around, Mike thought. Jesse had a distinctive, high-pitched laugh that was contagious to everyone who heard it. He had entertained him with a story of drinking way too much and throwing up in a bathtub.
"So, Jesse, what does Liebchen mean?", Donna asked cheekily. Jesse blushed," Oh you heard that? I thought I was alone."
All three nodded, causing Jesse to blush even more. "It means sweetheart in German", he responded his face red now. "Awww", Donna and Rachel cooed. "So, tell us more about the lucky guy", Donna said," I'll find out anyway because I'm Donna".
"She's not exaggerating", Mike warned. Jesse smiled and described it," Well we've been together since we were 19. He's from Germany and I'm from Ireland we both came over here when we were just 18. We both struggled adjusting here and we knew how each other felt so we just kind of clicked."
"OMG, too cute", Rachel squealed.
Jesse suddenly had a worried look on his face and asked," You heard what I said about Harvey, I wasn't trying to be mean… "The laughter of his companions interrupted him.
"Jesse you're too nice all of us have said that", Mike said laughing," I say way worse things to his face."
"He's right", Donna adds, "He'd be disappointed if you didn't say it. "
Jesse went home that night with a perfect feeling of happiness, blissfully unaware of the horrors to come.
Four days later, Jamie came home. Jesse had told him of the night out for drinks with his colleagues, and Jamie wanted to meet them. They had agreed on a Friday. Jesse was going to take his first ever deposition on Friday and was extremely nervous. It was a sexual harassment case against CNBC by multiple women, and he was deposing a CNBC executive. The infamous Harvey Specter would be with him and intimated that he would let Jesse take charge of it, and that a lot was riding on his shoulders. Jesse spent that week staying up late at night preparing for it, strategizing about questions, how he'd push if the witness was uncooperative etc. "You need to calm down Liebchen", Jamie would say, "You're going to kill it." Still, he couldn't help but be nervous. He and his boyfriend said they'd go out for a drink after.
Friday morning rolled around, and Harvey Specter found himself in his office nursing a cup of black coffee. The deposition for the CNBC executive started in merely an hour. He was letting the new kid take the lead. As he sipped his coffee, he wondered how it would go. Of course, Harvey would take the lead if Jesse started to screw up, but he didn't tell him that. The last thing Harvey wanted was him thinking that he could use Harvey as a security blanket. No, he wanted to see how well the kid would prepare and perform under pressure. Harvey smiled as he looked back at his first deposition. He'd been super scared. Apparently, Jesse had been driving Mike crazy by asking for constant feedback on his questions. But he could see that the Jesse looked up to Mike as a mentor and knew Mike well enough to know that he enjoyed it. Mike and Rachel seemed to have befriended Jesse and taken him under their wing. Everyone at the office, even Jessica liked him as he was not conceited like many of the other associates and was always kind to everyone no matter who they were, even the janitors and tech people. Despite being a Harvard graduate, and lawyer he had a humble and sweet manner about him. His thoughts were interrupted by the man himself walking into the room.
Jesse watched as the camera was set up, and the stenographer got ready. His nerves had been bad last night but now that it was happening, he felt a strange sense of calm. Let's get this done and then I can have a gin and tonic, he thought as the executive was sworn in.
The deposition moved along smoothly as Jesse got the boring questions out of the way in the first 20 minutes or so. Thirty minutes into the deposition, Jesse got into the loaded questions.
"Mr. Williams is it true that you gave a public statement denying any knowledge of the harassment allegations by multiple women at CNBC?", Jesse asked. He could feel Harvey's eyes on him, and he could feel the nervousness coming back. He had to nail this.
"Yes", Mr. Williams answered. Jesse continued," Okay then pull out the document labeled 5B. I want you to read it and then I'll ask you questions about it. Take your time."
Mr. Williams nodded and pulled out the requested document. His face began to pale as he read it. I can do this, Jesse thought. The executive looked up signaling that he had read it. Jesse went on the attack, "Mr. Williams can you tell me what that email is about?"
"It's an email about three women who had complained about sexual harassment by a producer on one of our morning shows"
Jesse pressed on," And your email address is on the list of people who received it, correct?"
"Correct", he answered.
"And this email is dated before you gave your public statement saying you had no knowledge of the allegations, correct?"
"Correct", Mr. Williams said his fidgeting with anxiety.
Jesse then went for the jugular," So, when you gave that public statement denying that you had any knowledge of the allegations, you were lying, correct?"
"Objection form", the opposing counsel said but Jesse pressed on, "Mr. Williams please answer. This email contradicts your public statement does it not?"
"Yes", the executive answered his shoulders drooping in defeat. But Jesse pressed on," So back to my question when you gave that public statement saying you had no knowledge of the allegations, you were lying correct?"
"Yes, correct", the executive sighed.
"And you did nothing to investigate these allegations, correct?", he asked again.
"Correct", the executive said quietly.
The deposition continued until noon at which time the two parties took a break.
At 3:30 that afternoon the deposition had ended and, Harvey and Jesse had retreated his office to drink a celebratory glass of scotch. Harvey was truly impressed. The kid had exceeded Harvey's expectations. It was very clear that he had done his homework and prepared many lines of questioning. Gone was the shy and bashful personality, instead he seemed to become an intimidating and harsh interrogator. "Great job Irish boy", Harvey said. Jesse blushed, "Thank you sir, I was wondering me, Rachel, Mike and my boyfriend are getting drinks later tonight wanna join us?"
Harvey nodded and decided to joke around, "Irish boy you better live up to your heritage, don't let anyone out drink you".
Jesse let out a high pitched, hyena like laugh.
"I will drink you under the table oldie," Jesse said laughing. Harvey smiled.
Mike, Rachel and Harvey had arrived at the bar before Jesse and his boyfriend. Harvey had told his companions of Jesse's threat leaving them cackling.
"Oh, wow he's getting braver", Rachel said. "What do you mean?", Harvey asked smiling.
"OMG you should've seen him when we took him out for drinks", Rachel replied smiling, "He was working late, and he thought he was alone, so he was having a phone call with his boyfriend, and he was saying how you were riding his ass all week!"
"He was so scared we were going to tell you!", Mike," He actually thought you'd be mad at him."
The two were interrupted by Jesse's Irish brogue greeting them, although this time he wasn't alone. He was accompanied by a very tall, serious looking man. He was about 6 foot five at least, and very muscular. He had on blue hospital scrubs. He had his long arm over Jesse's shoulder pulling his very thin body close to his. His hair was jet black, and his eyes a striking blue. Jesse looked like a little kid next to this large man.
"Oh, hey this is my boyfriend Jamie", Jesse said introducing him. Harvey wasn't gay himself, but wow Jesse had good taste in men. His boyfriend could easily be in a GQ photoshoot. Something was a bit off however and he couldn't exactly tell what. The way Jamie held Jesse close to himself was very possessive looking. His hand was on Jesse's bony hip, and all the sudden Harvey was struck at how skinny Jesse was. He had never noticed. He was thinner than Mike who was very skinny himself. Something, in the back of Harvey's mind said something was very wrong about this picture but he couldn't tell what. I'm probably just being paranoid, Harvey thought to himself.
"My threat was real oldie", Jesse said rousing Harvey from his thoughts, "I will drink you under the table."
They stayed for quite a while. Harvey learned that Jamie was a surgical resident at NYU-Langone and was originally from Germany.
A little while in Jamie said he wanted to go, and Jesse said he would get a ride and meet Jamie at home. The remaining group of four stayed another few hours, and then decided it was time to go home. "I'll get a taxi", Jesse slurred, and got up. "No kid I'll give you a ride", Harvey said. "Harvey I was so excited to get through the deposition because then I could go out and get wasted", Jesse slurred as Harvey walked him toward Ray's car. Harvey chuckled, "Well you deserve it kid." He helped Jesse into the car and got in himself. "Harvey my threat still stands I will drink you under the table", the kid said.
"I'm sure you will but probably not tonight", Harvey replied chuckling, "I think you've had enough Irish boy."
"I was just getting warmed up", Jesse shot back, making Harvey laugh.
They got in front of his building and because he was very drunk Harvey walked him up to his apartment and knocked. A shirtless Jamie in gray sweatpants answered. Harvey was struck out how built Jamie was. "Thanks for bring him home", Jamie said a forced smile on his face. Something about the way his piercing blue eyes stared at him made the hair on the back of Harvey's neck stand up, but Harvey being an expert at poker face didn't show how unnerved he was. "You're welcome", he responded and left the building. Something just isn't right there, Harvey though.
Jesse was led to the bedroom by Jamie and changed into his sleeping clothes. "You had a lot tonight", Jamie remarked smiling. Jesse drunkenly laughed. Jamie left to go brush his teeth.
A few minutes later, he came back to the bedroom, tore the covers off Jesse and stated massaging Jesse's crotch. Jesse moaned in pleasure. "You like that Liebchen", he asked. Jesse nodded vigorously. Jamie pulled Jesse's shorts down grabbed his penis and began to masturbate it, before putting it in his mouth and performing oral sex on Jesse. Jesse moaned loudly. Jamie could feel his boyfriend's hips quaking and knew he was close to completion. He took his mouth away. "Why did you stop it was amazing", Jesse said
Jamie took one hand to cover Jesse's mouth and nostrils and the other he wrapped around his neck and tightened his fingers choking him out. Jesse squirmed desperately and tried to get away but was easily overpowered. Jamie saw the look of pure shock and terror on Jesse's face and relished it. He took his hands away and let Jesse breathe.
"Jamie what the fuck!", Jesse said and attempted to get up from the bed and run but was thwarted by Jamie who shoved him back down on the bed and punched him in the face giving Jesse a black eye.
Jesse looked up at him in pure terror and shock. "Oh, Liebchen I'd never actually hurt you" Jamie said softly, running his fingers through Jesse's brown curls, "I just don't want that man who brought you home near you or giving you rides. I will always keep you safe. But don't make it hard for me."
Jamie then got up and nonchalantly just laid down on his side of the bed as if nothing had happened. Jesse sat there and cried silently until he went to sleep.
