Thanks to all who've taken the time to read and review. Eventually I will continue with Aftermath and I am also going to be starting a new Cabenson fic as well. I'm a little tipsy tonight, but I have some time to write so I hope this story makes sense. Italicized things are thoughts. TW: Mentions of injuries after an assault.

Chapter 2

A loud ringing awoke Amanda, she cracked open her eyes, trying to find the offending noise but she immediately slammed her eyes shut, the light hurting her eyes. She groaned as she turned over, blindly reaching for her phone. She answered it without even thinking, something she immediately regretted when she heard the stern voice of Detective Olivia Benson on the other end of the phone. "Amanda, where are you? You're an hour late." Amanda winced, the loud voice of her coworker reverberating through her skull, she realized she almost certainly had a concussion. "I'm sorry. My alarm didn't go off, I'll be in soon," Amanda responded in a voice that sounded weak even to her own ears. "Hey are you okay? You don't sound well." Olivia sounded concerned now and Amanda bit back a sigh, not willing to have this discussion. "I'm fine Liv, just a headache." Amanda figured that while being fine was a lie, having a headache was true. "Okay I'll see you soon," Olivia responded.

As soon as she hung up the phone Amanda sat up, grimacing in pain and biting back tears as she realized she was not wearing any clothes. Her sheets were stained with blood and she couldn't stop the tears as she looked down and saw the bruises littering her body. That's when the panic hit her. Was Meagan still in the house? Amanda worried to herself and she launched out of bed, screaming out in pain as she did so. She grabbed a blanket off the bed and wrapped herself in it and she tentatively peaked out of her room into the apartment, seeing the coast was clear she checked the kitchen and then the bathroom. Realizing she was alone she heaved a sigh of relief and locked her door which Meagan had apparently left unlocked when she left.

In the bathroom Amanda hurriedly got ready, realizing she was still bleeding she put a pad in, hoping it would stop sooner than later. She pulled on a pair of slacks and a sweater, not the most professional but the only thing comfy enough to tolerate her injuries. She brushed her hair and brushed her teeth before examining a bruise on the side of her forehead. She realized that must be when she got the concussion. She took out foundation, applying it liberally, hoping to cover the bruise, making it look at least a little bit better. She examined it, frowning that it was still visible but shrugging, realizing that was the best it was going to be.

Rushing into the precinct Amanda hid behind a curtain of her hair, hoping nobody would notice the bruise. She slid into her seat, grimacing at the pain of doing so, glad that Fin and Amaro were out and everyone else seemed distracted and didn't notice her obvious discomfort. She pulled out her laptop and began working on paperwork, grateful to be left alone. The hours ticked by at a ridiculously slow pace. Focusing on the screen in front of her for so long appeared to be a bad idea with the concussion, every movement exacerbating the existing pain in her head. Finally, unable to stand it anymore she closed her eyes, resting her head in her hands. It was just a few minutes, she was sure of it.

The next thing she knew she flinched violently away from someone lightly shaking her shoulder. "Oh my god, I'm sorry Amanda are you okay?" Amanda looked into the empathetic brown eyes of her coworker, Olivia. Amanda immediately looked away. Of course Olivia had to see her like that, she was never going to take her seriously or see her as an equal. "Yeah Liv, I'm fine." Amanda said it in what was probably the most unconvincing voice. "Yeah, then why don't you look at me?" Amanda rolled her eyes, why was Olivia so goddamn stubborn? In her frustration Amanda forgot about her spinning head, she turned to look at Olivia, hoping to tell her off but the quick movement caused the world to spin around her and she shut her eyes tightly, unable to stifle a groan. Olivia was concerned, something was clearly wrong despite whatever Amanda said, that much was true. Seeing what appeared to be the edge of a bruise Olivia gently moved Amanda's blonde hair behind her ear, Amanda flinched away gasping in fear but not before Olivia saw the bruise and the poor attempt of covering it with makeup. "What is this Amanda?" Amanda kept her eyes tightly closed, why was Olivia so damn loud? "It's nothing Liv, I just fell." Olivia rolled her eyes, "You fell? For some reason I don't believe you." Amanda shrugged, "believe what you want, but it's the truth." Amanda stood up, taking a moment to get her bearings, before walking across the squadroom. "Where are you going?" Olivia questioned. "I'm just going to the bathroom, do you have a problem with that?" Olivia let out an exasperated sigh, why was Amanda so closed off all the time? "Of course that's fine, I'm just worried about you."

Walking toward the hallway in the squadroom Amanda ran into Fin leading in a perp. Before Amanda could even process what she was seeing Meagan, apparently the perpetrator, called out in a loud nasty voice, "Amanda fucking Rollins, I should've known when cops showed up it had something to do with you." Amanda felt her face burning in shame, shrinking under the stares of her colleagues. "I didn't say anything, I swear, I just work here." Meagan rolled her eyes, letting out a humourless laugh. "Of course a pussy like you works in special victims, if your colleagues knew anything about you they wouldn't let you work here." That was the last straw, Fin jumped in, "Shut the hell up, you don't know what you're talking about." Meagan lets out a huff, "I know that little bitch is a player. Who gets on a dating app and then refuses to have sex?" Before she could hear anymore Amanda took off running, tears already streaming down her face. Behind her she could hear Olivia yelling for her, but she kept running, refusing to look back.
