Chapter 40: New Futures IV: Legacy Side Effects II
"Guys, girls to me." he said and the quintet moved behind him and she paled at that response. "You get the point here, the quintet are our version of Wes's team, they need rest like we do, but fact of the matter is that it's they're not adults, they're cubs, children still. So cub needs to rest, then cub needs to rest, as a mentor, we're their parent, and when we become mentors, it's our job to consider the health, and safety of our students here now, as such now."
"As a mentor, it's our job to consider what our students need, they're hungry, we take a break and get something to eat, they're exhausted, they need sleep. I spent 18 months with my own baby girl, and she knows, when I say time for a break, she knows I'm serious, so we take a break and get something to eat. We got what we needed and now time for some studying to make sure we're ready when the ancients keep coming into the conversation here right now."
"Jenny, Brandon, Derek and Jason, same thing, they need food, we take a break and get something to eat, they're exhausted, we take a break and get a nap. As such, this is how it is, our students are our children, we're their parents, instead of thinking about only our wants, we got to consider what's best for them. They never suffered a failure in their training yet, but just because you messed up once, doesn't mean you're a failure, still a cadet here, cubs."
"You don't get it right, and you can try again tomorrow, but at the moment, if you don't get the rest you need and you're never going to get it, that simple. But for now cubs, time to rest now, you need sleep, time to rest now, guys, you can't keep this up much longer, in staying awake, you're not adults. You're still cubs, I get it, you felt like you failed after your last instance in training, but what are you trying to prove to us here, by pushing yourself to this level."
"Just because you failed someone in that one instance, doesn't mean you're a failure, it was just their time to go, but you're still young, don't get it right. Try again tomorrow, but right now, you don't get your sleep, and you're never going to get it, time to rest now." he said and the quintet nodded softly as she buried her head into his shoulder then, as she felt her heart rip apart at the memory of his loss, and wishing she'd done done something for him.
Before she lost him that night and Sam swallowed at the memory of that instance as he said it to Renfro sternly then. "This is how it is, but us, adult bear officer, them cub officer, so the cubs need a break to eat and rest, we take a break." he said to her and she swallowed hard. "I got to think about what's best for them over myself, my unit same thing, I need to consider all the angles before making a decision, but our cubs come first here, over this."
"You're not a parent, nor are you mentor, when you're a mentor, you become a parent, my son is only 11, he's still too young here right now for this, so I got a daughter and she's the oldest of my cubs here." he said to her and she paled at that remark then. "But there is a matter of child abuse and this is child neglect and abuse, by refusing to let them rest and driving them into the ground right now." he said and she swallowed hard at that remark then.
"Now for the conclusion, this is where it comes to this year, and only a month into things and a few weeks before Sam got turned into a host now. Before the next confrontation comes up the next day here right now, so with that." he said and they nodded as Tapping nodded at that. "Which one is it?" she asked and he said it. "That's where we pretend we're on the Enterprise, and running this the way they did it before he got captured." he said and she nodded gently then.
"The test run, after their simulation failed to work, and Will was delaying even longer right now, you're trying to take my place here right now in truth. But doesn't matter what your alter ego thinks, Hammond's my dad, he'd listen to me over you in truth now, Mandy." he said and she nodded. "Time index five one four. Data started to fluctuate phaser resonance frequencies. The Borg's beam breaks contact. Slow playback. Take a closer look, Colonel Jackson."
"Colonel La Forge?" she asked and he said it sternly at that, as he exchanged irritated looks with Daniel and Sam at that "There's a two percent drop in power for an instant, but it is system wide. The phaser frequency spread was in a high narrow band." he said to her and Daniel nodded as he checked his.
"Conceivably, the ship's power distribution nodes are vulnerable to those frequencies." Data said to them and and La Forge nodded sternly to that.
"If we can generate a concentrated burst of power at that same frequency distribution, I mean a lot more than anything our phasers or photon torpedoes could ever provide." he said and Daniel nodded to him. "How do we do that, if we're working through this, as Apophis supposedly dead right now?" he asked and Jenny nodded to him gently at that. "The main deflector dish, that's the shield over the weapon we got." she said and he nodded gently to that her.
"It's the only component of the Atlantis extended base there in the Antarctic that they designed to channel that much power at controlled frequencies." he said to him and he nodded. "End programme, unfortunately, there is one slight detail, in the process, the blast completely destroys the Outpost as well." she said and Daniel nodded sternly. "But if we could get further away, increase the deflector's range." he said to her and she nodded gently at that remark.
"It could work. In the meantime, we should retune all phasers, including the hand units, to the same frequency." she said to him and he nodded to that as he answered her. "Proceed, I'll inform the General." he said to her and she looked at him in shock. "Well that's a clear case of she wants to be the one to do it, but I'm your father, and Jean, Jacob, Hank and I would vote on this, and it goes right to Jerry." Hammond said to that and Daniel nodded as she said it.
"There is one other recommendation I'd like to make, Colonel: Separate the saucer section and assign a skeleton crew to create a diversion." she said to him and he shook his head at that. "We may need the power from the saucer impulse engines, if this was the ship rather then the outpost it's a case of thinking of what could happen if we leave them without the added boost." he said to her and she said it quickly to that remark then at his opinion then.
"But it would give them more than one target to worry about." she said and he shook his head firmly at that. "It's too great a risk." he said to her and she said it quickly. "I'd like the General to make that decision, sir." she said to him and he said it sternly at that. "Captain I bring all the alternatives to the General's attention, that'll be all." he said to that and she, Jenny and Data pretended to leave the room then as La Forge looked at him gently at that.
"I'm going to need to install higher capacity power transfers to the deflector dish, on the outpost, Colonel." he said to him and he nodded gently. "How long?" he asked and he said it gently at that. "Better part of a day." he said and Daniel nodded. "Take all the time you need Jim." he said and then said it gently.
"She gets a full head of steam, doesn't she." he said and he nodded with a chuckle and she paled as she realized he was considering it then.
In adding her to the base line program, but her actions that month over him then, just cost her severely as he said it to him. "She's a formidable presence, to say the least. But I'm convinced she can help us here, Colonel." he said and Daniel nodded to him gently at that remark as he said it. "I am too. Don't worry about it, I can handle Renfro." he said and they ended the conversation at that remark as she paled further at the look on his face then.
"You see it now, I was considering you, and I was intending to recommend you for this command, but by pulling this stunt, Captain, and in truth here now. It's you just shot your recommendation right now?" he asked and she swallowed hard at that. "So there's the truth, she was slowly being considered for the base-line program permanently, but her next actions just cost her severely, and she's being arrested for attempted murder." Saxon said, crossing his arms then.
"Before this results in said conversation between us, as I'm your son, you take my advice and Sam's no matter what she says here, as to you, it's clear now. I know you better then she does, but Sam and I, we served at your side since the program was close to turning into Starfleet here." he said and Hammond nodded. "Yeah and we made it clear here, to us, she, John, Makepeace and Johnson, they're outsiders." he said and Daniel nodded sternly to that.
"So you catching her in my office, and I saw the irritated look on your face, and I knew you wanted to lay into her, but not in front of me or Jacob, let alone Jack?" Hammond asked and and he nodded. "Yeah, you knew this about me, but everything we discuss, and Sam and I bring all alternatives to your attention, but she went behind my back and went right to you to discuss this with you." he said and the quartet nodded sternly at that remark then
As Daniel knocked on the door he called out gently. "Come." he said to him and he came in and saw Renfro already sitting there and he tried keep from crossing his arms. "Come in, Colonel, Captain Renfro was just telling me of your concerns about her plan." he said to him gently and he nodded. "I'm sorry if she troubled you, sir, I have already informed her..." he started to say and Hammond nodded gently as he answered at him at that remark.
"Yes, I entirely agree with you, Daniel, it's not the time, but the time may come when we will be required to take greater risks, but until then in this case. I want you to consider her plan as a fall back position, make the necessary preparations." he said and Daniel nodded to the orders then. "Jack, you take that part, I need to have a little chat with Jane here." he said and Jack nodded sternly at that. "Very good, Colonel." he said to him at that remark gently.
"General I need to have a talk with you here over re-assignment here, but there are certain things that are close to cancelling her appointment altogether. And into the SGC, but if we could talk after I do this, that would be appreciated right now." he said and Hammond nodded. "By all means Colonel." Landry said for all of them and he nodded as he followed her out the door, as Sam crossed her arms as she saw him following her alter ego into the elevator then.
"Boy is she going to get it right now." Brandon said, as he, Chris, Jared, Jenny and Jason saw the stern look on his face and tried to keep from flinching. "It's okay cubs, you're not the ones in trouble, just a difference in opinion, but she doesn't seem to understand we are not NID, but SGC, and this is serious. You knew me longest out of all of you, so answer this now, Chris, Jason, Brandon, Jenny, you know this, why was I acting like a mentor with you."
"Why did I lay into John when he was berating you for that fight, you were doing that, well, because you wanted to show me that demonstration now. And you did it very well, allow someone to get you distracted into getting shot, and then what happens?" he asked and Brandon answered that. "And he has the upper hand to either shoot us or kill us, and we got an armed host running loose on earth and around town, but this is the very same thing, don't let it now."
"Said it, your guard down, you do, and that's going to get you killed, but it's not all think on your feet and think fast, you need every minute." he said and Daniel nodded. "Good, very good, so with those words in mind now, so why I do it, why do I consider all the angles when I'm always with you guys, so why do I play it safe?" he asked and they nodded. "Because you're determined not to lose us, Sir." Jake said to him and he nodded smiling gently at them.
"Our mentor, you love us, and like our own families, you're determined to not lose us, but then if you were Anakin, you push it to the limit here now in it. That you're so good in your eyes, in theory we're apprentices, but in reality, we got a few more years before we're done training, and we're still teenagers. Cadets, that to you, practice makes perfect, we look at everything, every angle, as if we don't it could get us killed." she said to finish that and he nodded gently.
"And 2?" he asked and she answered that. "Is it just possible you don't make it to your current rank without knowing the dangers of these choices here, of the burden of being the leader of a team or the ship now. When with you, you got to think about what's best for us, what happens if we get hurt or worse on your watch, and you got to explain it. Said it this to our parents, it's not just them who lost us, it's you, we're like your own cubs, or the officers your own age."
"Your friends, how many officers, friends, have you lost here over 18 months, you're not losing us without a fight how are you going to explain it to them here. As said them is to our parents, our soulmates, our next of kin, that you lost us, at first the job was easy, as were just making it for ourselves here. But your rank up to full general, we're now asking others to make that same choice with us, if that's not hard nothing is." Chris said and he nodded as Renfro paled.
"Very good baby, that's exactly the point to this, at first the job and choice was easy as you were just making it for yourselves, but now, now finally. You are asking others to make the choice with you right now, but you never stop, in order to survive we got to play it safe, or you have to be the one now. That has to explain this to their family and the next of kin, you lost their loved one, but why do we use clones now?" he asked and Jenny answered that gently.
"It's so we don't lose the real version, and we're not losing officers anymore, the clones are the ones being killed getting into these arrests here now in it. And god knows what else here right now, but we're leaving this to the NID as they see the dangers, but us now, us now it's a case of leave the stunts. And right to our stun doubles, before the next fatal or near fatal, lays someone out here, or worse." she said and he nodded to confirm that and Hammond nodded.
"Alright the last one and this one is a repeater of what you and I just discussed cubs, but this time it's a severe matter of knowing what I'm doing." he said and they nodded to him gently at that. "And that one sentence is enough to tell me she went behind your back on this and came right to me." Hammond said to that sternly and she paled at that remark then as Tapping said it then. "Floor 18. Battle bridge." she said to that and he said it sternly to her.
"Halt, Captain, you and I need to have a conversation." he said to her and she said it then."You never ordered me not to discuss this with the Generals." she said and he nodded sternly as he made it clear then. "You disagree with me, fine. You need to take it to the Captain, then fine. Through me. You do an end run around me again, I'll snap you back so hard, you'll think you're a first year cadet again." he said to her and she felt her anger shoot through her then.
"May I speak frankly, sir?" she asked and he nodded. "By all means." he said to her and she nodded to that. "You're in my way." she said to him and he said it sarcastically at that. "Really? How terrible for you." he said to her and she said it then. "All you know how to do is play it safe. I suppose that's why someone like you sits in the shadow of a great man for as long as you have, passing up one command after another." she said and then snapped it out then.
"Proceed to level 18." she snapped and he said it to her sternly at that. "When it comes to this ship and this crew, you're damned right I play it safe." he said to her and she said it then. "If you can't make the big decisions, Commander, I suggest you make room for someone who can." she said and they ended it at that as he made it very clear to that. "You see it now, I was going to recommend you for permanent position but this choice just blew it entirely now."
"So instead of staying here, it's you're going right to jail for attempted murder, and conspiracy and sedition, but what the kids just said is it entirely here." he said and she paled as he said it sternly to that. "But where that's concerned, is it just possible, you don't make my rank, because I know the dangers of making the big decisions right now, I got to think about the next of kin and the children of our lost officers here, why?" he asked and she froze up at that.
"Why do we use clones now?" he asked and she froze up at that question, realizing she never considered that thought ever. "Well it's because in order to keep the families of the lost officer happy, their mate, brother, sister, cub and grand cub is still alive. So in the duo's words, 'If dad, or mom, is so good, why didn't they come back from this, why did they have to die, why couldn't we save them and we know could have, why did we come back and not their parent."
"Brother or sister, why?" he asked and she and the rest of the NID paled as they realized, not once, did they ever think about the children's thoughts. "You never consider this do you, you never consider this at all, Tolinev, Marchenko, Colonel, you better get in here, all SG teams break off here." he said and they all split themselves away from their teams as the teams crossed their arms, as he crossed his own arms then as he finished the lecture then.
"You're looking for action and excitement, but do you realize how cold blooded that sounds to us, and to the families, the loved ones of the officers we lose?" he asked and she paled at that as she realized what she and the others were. "In Han's words after he was told how much his former friend was being paid to lead his family, his friends. And right into a trap, he didn't understand what that type of money does, but no he did, well so do I right now here now."
"In doing this for the money, the amount alone, I bring back a few hundred billion a year for new updates and other items here right now in that, to me. I don't care one bit about the money, what I do care about, is making sure our entire race gets out of this alive, but let me tell you, money. It makes people crazy, it turns you into creatures without heart, and why did Han ever get out of the Smuggler business and his former comrades considered him a traitor."
"Hmm, why?" he asked and they all swallowed hard at his remark. "Well he found something worth fighting for and worth dying for here now, he had a family, he had a life. There in the New Republic, his quartet were himself, Luke, Lando and Chewbacca, and he loved his friends with everything in him now. That he was willing to fight and die for the cause he joined in with, by bringing back the Jedi finally, that's no different." he said and they swallowed hard at that.
"You guys are smugglers, you are creatures without heart, doing this for the money, you're beyond cold blooded here, but money makes you crazy here. And to us, you're so far gone, you never ever, not once, ever consider why we take so much time, making sure we all come back alive and in one piece here." he said to her and she paled further at the looks of disgusted stern-ness in their eyes, as she saw she was nothing, but a criminal then in their eyes.
As Daniel wrapped both arms around Chris as he hold her close and she swallowed hard at that as the teams protectively surrounded their own apprentices on every team as they looked at SG-3 in disgusted anger and stern-ness and they swallowed hard at that. "For us, once we take on a cadet and training them, they become our very life, like our own children, our own lives don't matter, they do, we live and breathe trying to be everything they need us to be."
"This is how really is, being a true team, why are we so good right now, why do have a show subtitled by my original unit number?" he asked and they swallowed hard. "Or why is it that people connected to us are on guest star status here, and we're the best of friends here in the base, hmm, why now. Well it's because we care more about them, our friends, we swore a commitment to each other and we always work at making sure we all come back alive."
"But yeah, that's right, you're nothing but a criminal, I thought you could be worth saving, but by doing this to me, you sealed your fate in stone." he said to her and she paled at that as she looked at Addison who said it sternly. "But once a NID black ops, and always a black ops NID, you're never going to change, if you chose this idea and they did the rest, you were not worth saving in changing your ways, you're done." he said and Daniel finished that remark sternly.
"That is why I am a good officer, a great leader and I'm the Will Riker of my generation, but on the one hand is I'm Will and on the other I'm Wesley now. But did you ever consider, just once, why we do this, we use clones, if there is a close call or worse with the Goa'uld, Nirrti, or Hanson has a section 8 now. To speak the cubs thoughts out loud here right now, in trying to prevent the loss of the original, or we clone the actor playing them for these episodes."
"Did you idiots ever consider this at all since you screwed with the treaty, to get some action in the job?" he asked and they all paled at that. "We use clones now, so the original is safely at home and protected, here on the base, you want action and excitement, fine, you be out there. But we're not losing our people, in both departments out of the dangers of this job and having the immediate family or the next of kin pissed at us, as we came back, but they didn't."
'Well it's because any choice I made affects them too, and I got a few hundred kids running loose on the outpost grounds here right now in this case here. But a situation like Aster, like Wes, Charlie, when Jack got stuck out in the Middle East, to the kids it's why was it their parents and not us. Hank's daughter is barring 4 years old, and she can't even remember her father, how are we supposed to explain this to her, that he's somewhere dying a very slow death."
"On the edge of a blackhole, it should have been your commander, not Makepeace, but John, as he finally understands in how it feels now finally here. In Frank's eyes, that's the burden of command, you got to make choices you can't always stomach here, but and I stress the word but now, but if Hank is good. That good, why didn't he ever consider ending the mission, before the blackhole formed?" he asked and she froze up in fear at that remark then.
"If Jack is that good, why didn't he consider wearing desert camouflage to keep from being seen, before getting captured at the time here now right now. And with it now, I'm speaking Wes and Jeremy Aster's thoughts clearly on this right now as well here now, but if his father was so good here. Why did he leave the ship at all, did he ever consider what this would do his mother and him, Picard or Keel at all, did he ever consider their feelings now here at all."
"If Aster is so good, then why didn't she consider that mine could cave in and stay out of an area that could cave, why wasn't it Worf or the captain. But Aster, as in our own Aster, SG-14, Lieutenant Louise Aster, she had children, and one of them was the ancestor, to the one parent/son duo on that episode. But the Marla Astor, as in Jeremy Aster?" he asked and she and the rest of the team paled at that remark as he said it sternly as he looked between them firmly.
"Never figured it out did you, that the characters of the show were our descendants we lose someone in our present here and there is no Jean Luc Picard. As well as no Beverly Howard/Crusher, no William Kyle T. Riker, Geordi La Forge, Miles O'Brien, Deanna Troi, Katherine Pulaski, Jeremy Aster. And no Wesley Crusher, if you idiots were so slick here and realized this from the second I laid into you last year, then you'd get why I'm letting you have it now."
"That show is no show at all, to save the future it means changes in our present, we're the best at what we do as we consider their future, Hank, Jack. Or John, Frank, or me, why wasn't it us, why did it have to be their parent, well now I'm saying the very same thing, why was it my parents that died that day. Why, just why wasn't it the excavator, and if dad was so good, why didn't he ever consider that chain could snap and get out from under it, now."
"Mom at least considered in getting out from under it, before the chain snapped, but why the hell didn't the bastard excavator exercise some common sense. And get them out from under that coverstone, that's what it boils down to for me in my eyes, in their case, for Chase in John's case, for Wesley in Jack's. And for Jeremy in Aster's case, consider that the next time you talk about us playing it safe here?" he asked and she paled at that and Hammond crossed his arms.
"We're the best because we consider the feelings of the family and next of kin, how do we get used to telling them their loved one is never going to come back. Answer is we never do, because once we do, we become the very thing we hate, we become officers without heart, we become you." he said and she and the NID all paled at that as he ended the lecture at that as he looked at Hammond and the rest of the command generals then gently as he said it then.
"That's why we use clones, so we never lose someone ever again, and SGC is the most dangerous, the most accident prone department in this program. So why is it that we use clones for the teams that get captured or worse, we have a run with a renegade, even our androids decided to get in on the act?" he asked and they swallowed hard. "Well it's because we're making sure a family of the said officer never gets destroyed." he said and she swallowed hard.
"We're the most well known of the teams, that to protect the teams we work with the most, is the fact we choose ways that insure we never lost someone. We lost your men, the guys that look like French, John, Freeman and Reilly's doubles, they were your men weren't they, and they die?" he asked and they paled. "But what does that teach you, or did that not make a point, after losing Carol's clone, McFaft, and the others, SG-7, we nearly lose SG's 10 and 11."
"Hanson went section 8, and he was put down, after killing Franks, and the others, as Conner got to us, you remember that?" he asked and they swallowed hard. "In total we lose 40 good soldiers and you slaughter 100 friendlies in the process because you brought that bomb, did that not make a point?" he asked and John swallowed hard as he saw he was nothing, but a cold blooded killer in the eyes of his brother, and Renfro, Makepeace and Johnson with him.
"That's right nothing you say excuses this right now, I don't care if you are jealous, but how many different ways do have to say this right now in truth. As NID officers, you don't belong here, as you're all cold blooded and unscrupulous, after you intended to use Teal'C as a science experiment, you do this to him. You kidnapped Jack and turned Janet into a drone, you're nothing, but a cold blooded killer, people." Hammond said sternly with a growl and they swallowed hard.
"Yeah that's right, to us, you're nothing but a murderer right now, and it doesn't surprise any of us, you would ever try this to get rid of me right now here. As if Shelby was one of you, and she tried to get rid of Will, because he's the me of their generation, I never left Hammond's side at all right now at all here. And since I started work here, but to them there is a case of the prime directive, which is the same in our eyes as the highest ethical standards in his eyes."
"That is why we're the best at what we do, why we're the most well known, we accomplish the impossible, and sure we get strange things now here. In happening to us all the time, but that's the price of being the best, we're well known, and these strange and absurd things happen to us all the time." he said and Sam hid a smile. "That's why you're never mentioned in the teams after us, it's always us, it's because we're the best at it." he said sternly to her then.
"In my eyes that question has been running through me ever since, but the truth is, I was no older then Wes when Jack was killed." he said and she paled further at that. "I needed a break so I could get it out of me, and get some R&R and be a normal archaeologist, and face the memory finally here. I was going to New York and visit their graves, go to Saint Louis and drop in on the extended family, and go see Sarah and Nicky." he said and they nodded gently.
"Nice touch and I think your point just punched through the arrogance finally." Claire said to him and he nodded as he hugged her tightly and she pressed her forehead to his gently. "I know you're ticked at us, and you have every right to be, but you're right, on all counts son, I get it right now, I get it, if I'm that good, why didn't I ever consider the chain could snap and get out from under it, while we still had the chance." Mel said and he nodded as he hugged him.
"So do it now, we go from there, that out of sleep deprivation I call this a case of guaranteeing this, without this turning physical and you're outnumbered. So don't try it and even try to attack me, like Nash attacked Chris and you're being sedated instead of given your meds." Adam said sternly to that remark, firmly. "Rerun that Rick, you remember that set of conversation, after this conversation went off into a tangent." Hammond said to him and he nodded as he said it.
"Donald go to it, this is the area where I got to consider his condition got worse after he flipped out a second time the night before." he added and he nodded. "Alright, alright he's trying to keep from getting the next dose, I said that I heard that excuse all the time from my patients and then say something like this, Said just doesn't clear up overnight, so we go from there, Rick." he said and Anderson nodded as he finished off the conversation between them.
"Alright to get back to this conversation as we lost our train of thought here, but first was that, followed by you dragging up trying to get a near 4 year old. To sleep and then comes the issue of baby-sitting coming into the conversation and that's when the quartet had that exchange, so we go from there. Rewrite guys, so we got from there here at the moment." Daniel said to that and the older officers all nodded as Sam tried to keep from laughing at his remark.
"And while you're at it, make it clear you're still seeing him as a kid of 16 in fighting with you over needing time to recover and you're the parental medical doctor." Matheson said to this and he nodded to that. "Yeah that's enough to scare the heck out of us, when you go into parent mode here, and you've already dosed me, him, with that serum, so you got an easier time with him and before he does anymore damage." Jack said and Adam nodded gently to that.
"And to us we still see you as cubs, either as a teenage cub or your 8 year old self here." he said in response and Daniel covered his eyes at that. "Oh boy now I'm in trouble, when worn out there was always trying to fight my exhaustion and you guys were used to this." he said and the quartet nodded with a chuckle. "Yes and I hear that one more time and though an adult, you're going to get it, cub." Adam said to him and Sam tried to keep from laughing at that.
"Yeah cub, but then in your or Father Bowdern's eyes here, you were so used to this, that I never wanted to immediately go right to bed, and you hear it. Said it the following sentences, 'finish chapter, then bedtime' I want to finish this chapter, then bedtime' 'not tired' 'I'm not tired' so often that here at the time. And with a sedative involved in my medication Uncle Darrel set up, you drained the nerves this way here, now." he said and the sextet's parents chuckled.
"And before I curled up in your arms as I fell asleep here, as to that Uncle Adam." he said and Hammond tried to keep from laughing at that. "Same sentence, no matter how many years go by, in both ways, we hear this all time with you cubs, but no matter what age you are, trying to get you to call it. Here for the night, is the same argument or debate no matter how many times we try to get you to call it quits." Adam said with a chuckle and they nodded smiling.
"Adam, Rob, Darrel, Dillon?" Hammond asked and they started laughing at that as he answered him. "We heard this nearly every time we were on babysitting duty. So with that, 'Alright bed time' 'Want to finish chapter, then bedtime' "No you're tired, time to sleep' 'Not tired' 'Alright wise guy that's enough already. And keep it up and you're in trouble, now bed-time.', five years later we hear this again and when he's able to speak more clearly right now in that."
"Alright bedtime' 'I want to finish this chapter, then bed time' 'no you're close to falling asleep here' 'I'm not tired.' 'Young man seriously. That's enough of that, and keep it up and I'm going to let you have it, now bedtime.'." Adam said and the command generals all started laughing at that. "Oh my god come on, if that's not enough to drive us crazy in us command generals when our kids were cubs, nothing is." Landry said through his laughter at that remark.
"Or just us in the next generation with our own kids and my son is no older then Cassie here, that I hear this and she's asking to get it right now. But young man, try it with me, and you're busted." Jack said to Charlie and he nodded as Janet nodded with a chuckle as her own smiled. "Same here, if that's not enough to drive every medical doctor parent nuts nothing is, and young lady do that with me, and you're busted." Janet said to Cassandra and she nodded.
"Sure thing mom, just relieved I never lost you for good here, as I was 16 and close to losing you before in that time-line, and in this, we had a close call. And as the memories are activating one by one, but I wouldn't want you to just sacrifice who knows how many lives to save my own, guys, remember that." she said and the team nodded. "We know, but we can't let her go, or it could kill who knew's how many innocent people." Sam said to that gently at that.
"Love you too baby." Daniel said to her and she nodded smiling then. "As for Dominic, don't go there Sam." she added and the quartet tried to keep from laughing at her remark. "Well know he was hijacked, as was I, and we caught them red handed long before they could even attempt this right now at the moment. But they never know when to quit, but this seems so un-necessary, we got to prevent repeaters here." Janet said and she nodded smiling then.
And as Daniel tried to keep from laughing at her remark then. "And you thought we were bad, we lay the example and our own cubs follow it. So no matter what age group you're in, you hear this argument and debate all the time, when we're all scholars and scientists, that no matter what age we are. We can not get our minds to slow down and decide to read a chapter or two, before we call it for the night." Sam said with a laugh and their parents nodded.
"Before you got that same conversation after I had to take a dunk in the trench to save Carrie and that's the one time here now in where what we were like. And together, that our previous medical conversations come into and this, to you, is like what it was like before the accident, just months earlier. That this was a real relief, when you hear the return of this conversation that you realize the me you know is back." he said and the quartet nodded with a chuckle.
"Yeah and just hearing this again in your voice once again is enough of a realization here to know that you recovered completely from it here now in that. That hearing our usual medical debates where bed-time is concerned, I never been more relieved to hear those words in your voice again." Dillon said to that gently. "Yes, and another year together results in the same conversations." Matheson said with a laugh at that remark as the command trio smiled.
"If that doesn't bring back a case of normalcy in our lives, as gone or not, and you're back to being you again, nothing is, but come on you guys, seriously. Is this really necessary, son, because no matter how old you get, nothing changes here?" Jacob asked him and the medical generals nodded, bemused. "That's what we said, it's a few months in, he's starting to recover from the accident, suddenly that dunk in the trench has this conversation return finally."
"That we all realized he's back to being himself again and believe me we're all more then relieved to hear the return of that conversation finally." Dillon told him and he nodded smiling gently. "The water that cold I'm not surprised, but like Uncle Rob, I just risked a close encounter with whatever was in that trench, and by taking the brunt of it, to protect her, do they realize the me I would grow up to be, just hit finally." Daniel said and his friends all nodded to that.
"But what is their deal of not allowing themselves to rest, hmm, you realize how this looks to us, it's like you're deliberately now, and I mean deliberately. Just trying to drive yourselves into the ground?" Daniel asked sternly and they all paled as they realized that was how it looked to the SGC/SGA command. "There's a matter of needing a break, a chance to rest and eat, that comes first over your needing to get what we do not need here right now."
"We do not need an edge now, we got what we came for here at the time, by getting the death-gliders before Sam got turned into a host now here. Saying Will's remark here, of 'I think we all should call it a night, we need rest, and if we have a confrontation, I don't want a command, or crew, battling it. At the same time they're battling their own fatigue, now dismissed, all missions are on a hold for 5 months, period." Daniel said to them sternly and they paled.
"And what if I got us another medical breakthrough we needed over what you wanted here, did that ever occur to you right now at the moment here. That I brought back something else that the doctors, cops and psychiatrists can use here in the medical department and prisons at the moment that calls off. The need for the chloral hydrate and other sedatives at the moment, I came back with what I really needed to get, but a medical breakthrough."
"But it's a case of what do we need that doesn't call for weapons technology, we get supplied with all of that and by the sextet, the Tok'ra have access. To Egeria's entire armory, we got access to Ra's by a simple obstacle and we can get the coordinates needed to do it, by jumping through hoops. There are better ways here to do this right now, then stealing." he said and they all swallowed hard at that remark as Jack finished that remark then sternly.
"Our minds have turned to clay, we're so exhausted we need a few months of on the base respite on earth, so that's enough of this, IOA and AMRIID. They run the program, if they: they, our CMO's and our CO's say we need a few months of break from all the off world missions, we do as they say. Regardless of our own wants, they all want us battle ready, we're not if we're all asleep on our feet, so that's enough of that." Jack snapped sternly at them at his remark.
"I think Dana over did it in the requests, but he committed to the board, without giving him a chance to agree to it first, which is the same thing. The phoenix foundation now is consistently not giving him a chance to rest and after multiple missions here, he's had enough and needs a break right now. Which is what this really is, I need a break, and asked for a six month extension so I can go see my extended family and my wife." Daniel said to him and he nodded.
"Nice touch with the horse though, but if that's not getting him to shoot himself in the leg, nothing is Rick, nice work." Daniel said and Anderson started laughing and nodded. "He never saw it coming, that Bruce was faking it with playing Charlie, until Bruce and I swapped positions and then got him to say it. As we were all working on it, and that was a sting operation that we had, doing it more then once in my, Dana, and Pam did." he said and they nodded to that.
"Wait rewind it to the very beginning of this conversation now." he said and Sutherland nodded in agreement to that. "Major O'neill." he said and John quickly said it. "Uh just give me one second." John said and Sutherland looked at him then as he said it gently. "Look John, it's time for your meds, son." he said gently at that as they heard Daniel's remark in the original time-line, now spoken in John's voice then finally as they saw him for what he really was.
"I don't need anymore drugs, what I need is to get the drugs you got in my system, out of my system." Anderson said, while pretending he backed into the other wall. 'Yeah I see this enough in my other patients, that I know he's had enough of the needles, but cub, easy, don't lose your temper.' Adam thought and as he shook his head at that. 'Major don't try it, you're in enough trouble already.' the nurse thought as he answered him gently at that remark then.
"No Johnny, you need rest." he said and he swallowed as he said it then. "I think I rested enough here." he said and Sutherland crossed his arms. "Just tell me one thing, is Teal'C sick?" he asked and Sutherland said it as he took the syringe then gently at that. "Not that I'm aware of, I haven't been up to the SGC yet." he said and then after faking slamming his arm into the wall and the older man nodded sternly to that response as he said it then.
'Cub, the fact you lost your temper one too many times is not giving me any reason to trust you outside of this cell.' Adam thought as he said it with a warning tone to him. "Major O'neill, I insist you calm yourself, otherwise I'll have to have you restrained and further sedated." Sutherland said with a warning tone to that. "Why are you so quick to jump to the conclusion that I'm crazy, that I'm dangerous, I'm out of control?" he said and he only looked at him sternly at that.
And he nodded with a sigh at that. "It's because I'm kind of acting like it." he said and then sighed as he said it as he tried to stay standing upright then as they kept their eyes on him then gently at that. "I just…I just need to get these drugs out of my system, look, Doctor Parker, I know you probably hear this from your patients all the time, but I think I'm cured." he said and the older man nodded as he said it gently to him at that remark then.
"You're right, I hear it all the time, I'm afraid it doesn't work that way, you don't get well from something like this overnight." he said and then hid a sigh as he waited for it. 'Kiddo, listen to me, this next excuse is only going to have me thinking you're not recovered here yet.' he thought gently as he got it. "You do if there was an alien organism inside you making you think that you were sick when you really weren't." Anderson said to him and he nodded to that.
'Or not, in this case the battle fatigue is so bad, I've got to take charge, before your system really crashes.' Adam thought in response to that remark. 'And in one case or another, it's a matter of never mind immediately going back into the field, no one goes anywhere, we're in code black, no one leaves earth.' he thought sternly as he waited for the excuse he knew the younger man was going to give, to try to get himself out of the hospital.
"Mmm, hmm, and you…found this out…how?" he asked and Daniel shook his head at that. 'Yeah I couldn't believe I was even telling this to the man that had an excuse to keep me locked up, with Uncle Adam, it had been easier, but him, no, I'm not saying it now.' he thought as he heard it then. "Ma'chello told me." he said and Daniel sighed. 'Yeah mention the alien you swapped bodies with and he's going to think you lost it.' he thought sternly to that sentence.
"Machello?" Anderson said and Sutherland nodded. 'Yeah now I'm worried right now, that he's having an adverse reaction to this medication, I got to switch drugs and use a different one. But he's so exhausted that he's hallucinating in hearing that character's voice, son come on right now, with that remark. You think I'm not going to think your system crashed right now and you're delirious?' Adam thought gently as he heard the rest of that excuse right now
"He's an alien old man we met on P3C-599." he said and the older man nodded as he knew the alien scientist was dead by this point then. "Major O'neill, you haven't had any visitors." he said to him and he tried to control his voice at the way this sounded to him. "No, of course I haven't. You see, Ma'chello is dead." he said and Adam hid a nod as he crossed his arms then. 'Yeah cub is definitely delirious, I got to switch.' he thought as he answered him then.
"Dead? Yet he told you there was someone inside you making you appear crazy?" he asked and thought it gently. 'That or delirious, which could mean after 9 months of being over worked, he's close to breaking and he needs a severe rest respite, before his system really does crash here. But fast check in, if his theory pans out, he's under my care at the SGC, but I'm not letting him out of my sight.' he thought as the younger man answered his double.
"That's a good point. I wouldn't, uh, I wouldn't buy that if I were you either. Just do me one favor, ok? Contact the SGC, find out if Teal'c is sick. If he is…promise me you'll let me talk to Daniel Jackson." he said and Sutherland sighed and nodded as they ended it at that remark. "Yeah alright that's plenty right now, but again, you realize that losing your temper in front of us, is not helping your case?" Adam asked and Carson nodded to that sternly then.
"And neither is the fact of dragging up a previously dead enemy right now, so son, why don't you do this, as you would know better then to bring up him up. Said him, that character's name here, so we just reverse the wording here, as you're too exhausted to think straight, though a couple days in recovery. And just move you into a normal medical room and you're sleeping off the sedatives and whatever else was bringing your fever down here."
"As a result of the system crash, and you're getting shot in the leg a month earlier here." Matheson said to him and he nodded. "Yeah I agree with him on that one, we change that moment, and instead of dragging up that mad scientist, just say you want him to check and see if Teal'C is alright or not. As you're far from fully recovered, and you're still too exhausted to think straight here." Hammond said to that and he nodded to that remark then gently.
"Wasn't there a previous injury that wasn't all the way healed yet, that got infected, I know the ring transporter blew?" Jacob asked and Sam nodded. "Yeah and he was supposed to be on light duty, so we were considering the infection combined with this thing and he collapsed on us." she said and he nodded. "Before we realized they over dosed him, and it was way too close." Hammond said sternly and Jacob and Bra'tac nodded sternly at that news.
"And it was infected, it took a week for his fever to break and two more, before all the crap they drugged him with put him in the infirmary here now in it. Said was for, well now it's turn about is fair play, but Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome, they overdosed him on one too many anti-psychotics." she said and Janet and Jack, as well as the trio nodded in shocked fury at that. "So you tried to kill him by overdosing him on anti-psychotics?" she said slowly then to him.
"How stupid do you think I am, you realize I found this out, if I was still myself, I'd kill you as you get a taste of your own god damn medicine here now?" she asked and Mckenzie paled at her remark. "Well maybe it's time for a medical replay, as I did the very same research, and to me, it's case of overly exhausted and the treatment, is by sedation as you sleep off everything I gave you, as my case is sedatives, as we try to bring his fever down, to bring it down."
"It's by doses of Dantrolene and to take the edge off the pain is Fentanyl and even that takes a few days to heal from here as to that in your case." Adam said to that sternly then. "Sedatives, fever reducers and pain killers, and how long before all of these hit you once you're recovered mentally, but not physically. As, now, you see that though mentally, you're in detox from the trio physically?" he asked and Mckenzie and the quartet all paled at the realization then.
"Yeah and you're a real doctor, he's just a hotshot, Adam." Dillon said to that sternly and he nodded in agreement to that. "Cub or not, this is my son as an adult, but to me, still my cub, so only option here is to act like he's recovering from another dunk in ice cold water. And he's suffering another relapse here again, from it, so this thing is screwing with his physical recovery, but exhaustion, his fever is coming down and finally is the fact now here in this."
"He's recovering from getting shot in the leg by the ring transporter, just a month earlier after we destroyed Seth next." he said and they trio nodded. "Alright go from there, we both know, your body is so battered and exhausted, you need a good 3 months worth of rest, and with it, is the come down. And from the latest dose is starting to wear off, but we both know it's better for you to remain in the care of your paternal doctor." Sam said to him and he nodded to her.
"Just jump over that whole temper tantrum and get right to punchline here, as this is enough we know that though recovered mentally here now in that. It's you're still needing another 3 weeks physically here right now, so jump over the debate with him over the drugs here and you're realizing Teal'C was infected." Janet said to him and he nodded as Shanks and Sutherland took that one and did it a second time here then as he looked at him gently at that.
"Look, Doctor, I know you probably hear this from your patients all the time, but I think I'm cured." he said to him and he nodded with a bemused smile in his tone at that as he answered him then gently at that as he looked at him as he tried to keep standing, before deciding to sit back down. "You're right, I hear it all the time. I'm afraid it doesn't work that way. You don't get well from something like this overnight." he said to that gently then and he nodded gently.
"You do if there was an alien organism inside you making you think that you were sick when you really weren't, long story on that realization, Sir. But what I do know, is this was not real, but rather the same as the Lornaks and the Tralestas, like the damn virus Yuta used here, same difference here now. But enter by infiltration, said infiltration is the little bugger needed a way to get close to the target, by use of a host here, the connection here now was this."
"But the little bugger causes the symptoms of schizophrenia in a normal person, a human, but for a host: Goa'uld, Tok'ra or Jaffa here now in this. It starts attacking their symbiote here, which means the damn thing was set to identify the naquada in the victim's bloodstream." he said and Adam nodded. "Mmm, and you…found this out…how?" he asked and Daniel quickly jumped over that as he said it to him as he looked into his eyes gently at that remark then.
"Never mind that, as you're not going to believe me when I tell you how I figured that part out, as the one responsible is dead here anyway, I know that. And I know I need a few days to a month physically, after the idiots were over doing it in the missions I'm too exhausted to think straight here anyway. But just do me a favor here: contact the SGC, find out if Teal'c is sick, if he is…, promise me you'll let me talk to Jack O'Neill." he said and Sutherland nodded gently.
"I know I need a break to rest and I agree with you on that, as they're driving me into exhaustion here, but your decision on shutting down gate operations. I suggest here is you set it for 5 months, General." he said and the older man nodded gently at that. "Your theory pans out and I'm getting your team mate up here." he said and he nodded as he relaxed, as he went to medical talk with him gently at that remark then as he said it gently to him then.
"Fever's gone down finally, so whatever this was, was screwing with what you're giving me for it, so this thing is basically like the little buggers here. My immune system was impacted by the sarcophagus, speeding up my healing ability and recovery, so if this is like the slugs in the book here now. It's the same thing and combined into two scenarios, one is the virus that the Tralestas used on the Lornaks and the Puppet Master aliens as well here right now."
"Once out of the system your body returns to normally in the mental effects, the physical, it's drains you of a massive amount of energy here as well. But with that level in my system, I'm better off sleeping it off for a few days, just tell Sam to double check, I'm staying a bit longer here, but if the little buggers now. Are in those PTD's, then that means we walked right into a trap, again, NID did it to me, again, and I don't doubt here now is this as well it's a hoax."
"But enter by infiltration, it's not the bodies, the weapon is the PTD itself, to enter it's by going into the person that uses it on the tablet itself, and that's it. It's one of his inventions, he maybe dead, but he's still screwing with us here." he said and Sutherland nodded sternly. "Lovely and once again, you're the target for the damn thing." the aide said to that and Sutherland nodded sternly in agreement to that as he said it as he looked between them then.
Before he could it out a wave of dizziness shot through him and he quickly grabbed him and sat him down. "Adrenaline comedown, you better stay sitting down son." he said softly and he nodded as he answered him. "That and my leg, damn it, you idiots, I didn't need to immediately go back out." he said firmly and the doctor nodded in agreement, before the nurse pretended to look down, and then saw it. "No kidding right now." the orderly said to that sternly.
"The bandage just bled through." she said sternly and he nodded. "God if it's not the sarcophagus right now, and my body was taking 7 months to recover from that right now, but this too. Damn it, I'm not even fully recovered and they're trying to work me till I collapse, I can't keep this up much longer right now. But if that's not evidence right now nothing is at the moment." he said and they all nodded as Sutherland said it quickly to the nurse at that remark.
"Get a few more I need to re-wrap his leg, but he needs to stay sitting down, as we got over this." he said and she nodded as she quickly left. "He said he had a few inventions to fight the renegades here when I saw him, before he died at the time, but in truth here now is the old fool now, he never. Now, considered that by doing this to me, in the way he, that's Graves in season 2, did, as, considering here now, is he's as deranged here as Graves is."
"As he doesn't realize the body he chose, is not a normal human, but of ancient descent, but to get into this lunatic's thought pattern's into his weapons. In Picard's words, if he figured out in how to use my powers, who of the innocent are going to get hurt, who's next after he hurts a few people. The homeless man he encountered as a friend, who exactly, but this is dangerous enough already here, without adding psychological powers to it now."
"The weapons were designed with tracing the naquada in a human bloodstream, but if they get into a normal human, and it's me all over again as to that. It's a matter of getting it close to them, but I think he left it there six months or a year ago, and then waited for the target to activate the damn thing here. But it looks like the one we found on Argos here, the Linvris thought it was one of their own, and then realized it after it started attacking their symbiotes."
"Knew it got out with the last one, it was going to search out another host, it's like the virus on the movie, keep looking for a new target in hosts or Jaffa. And till there is nothing left to kill, as they decided it ended with them and fried the lock." he said and they nodded in shock to that news. "But it was sitting there with the last one, waiting for someone, so it's a nice way to hide a landmine when the person that planted it was dead already and we all know this."
"But the WWI landmines are still going off in France, though the soldiers that planted them are long since dead, as to that, I just realized what he meant. Not auditory or visual, but my encounter with him, he said he created inventions to fight the system lords at the time, but we confiscated everything here. After he died, one of them, and this is the big one, I saw more then 90 of those PTD's." he said and he nodded in shock to that news as he went further at that.
