-One Day Later: Blitz League Broadcast Booth-

"Well another day, another free agent off the board, and this is a big one ladies and gentlemen." Chris said as he paused to take a breath before continuing. "It's been confirmed, Las Vegas Aces star linebacker Amos Newell has signed a contract with the San Diego Cyclones." Chris said as a picture showed his face with the Cyclones logo behind it. "While this is a big name signing, I'll admit that I'm a bit confused as to why they Cyclones would target Newell. The Cyclones have the runner up for defensive rookie of the year in the form of Robert McNeill, so why would they also target Newell?" Chris asked in a confused tone. "For more on the ground let's go to our reporter, Tracey outside of San Diego's Memorial Stadium." Chris said as the footage now showed a spit screen showing both Chris, and Tracey's face.

"Thanks Chris. According to our sources here in San Diego, the fans are also confused as to why the team Signed Newell. Like you mentioned, Robert McNeill was a runner up for defensive rookie of the year. I spoke earlier to Cyclones Owner Marty Rains, and this is what he had to say." Tracey paused as the footage now showed her earlier interview with Marty.

"We targeted Amos for several specific reasons. Number one: he adds veteran leadership not just to our defense, but to the whole team. Number two: we do not intend for him to replace Robert, Amos has agreed to switch from Middle Linebacker to Outside Linebacker in order to fill a much needed position on defense. Number three, for the price he was asking, it's impossible to pass up on a definite Hall Of Fame player like Amos. That's why I signed him, and that's all I'm going to say." Mr. Rains said as he then walked out of the parking lot and into the stadium towards his office, away from the watchful eyes of the press.

"There you have it Chris. Marty Rains seems to have a plan, but as to how it'll pay off, I guess we'll see come September when the league kicks off another season..."

-Meanwhile: Cyclones Meeting Room-

"Jamal, did you do that research on the underrated tailback that Marco told us about?" Marty asked as he reclined in his chair.

"If your referring to Avery Ferguson, then yes." Jamal answered as he dimmed the lights and turned on the meeting rooms projector, and then proceeded to pull up the Junior running-backs Draft profile. "Marco turned us unto something we easily could have overlooked." Jamal began in a surprised tone. "We where so busy focusing the spotlight on John Norris, that we nearly overlooked a player who not only should be going in the first round, but also fits our system." Jamal informed his boss.

"Where's he projected to go?" Marty asked his head scout.

"Early second round to mid second round." Jamal answered. "Being only a Junior has hurt his draft stock. Although he's a two year starter, he struggled at times. Also, the draft experts have him rated way below John Norris, since Norris was a four year starter at Texas, and he's obviously a senior." Jamal said as he read the juniors draft profile.

"He's got talent." Marty began as he looked over every little detail of the draft report. "But also got to figure out if he's mentally prepared for the spotlight, and the responsibility that comes with it." Marty said wisely, which earned a head nod from Jamal.

"Put bluntly, I'll have the majority of our scouts evaluate John and Avery as much as possible. We have to make the right choice when it comes to this pick." Jamal said as he also kept looking over Avery's draft profile. "Marty, we keep discussing our number one overall pick, but what about our number 12 pick? You want my scouts to scout offense or defense?" Jamal asked quickly.

"Let's scout half and half. There is a defensive back I want to scout–"

"You thinking Lance McCain?" Jamal asked with a smile.

"How did you know?" Marty asked in an impressed tone.

"McCain is the top rated defensive back in the draft, plus he's the only two way player in the draft. He's already being compared to 'Franchise' by some. As a Corner-Back and a Wide-Receiver, he's a rare combination. He caught seven touchdowns as a receiver, but nine interceptions at his primary position." Jamal informed Marty.

"Send our scouts to the University Of Alabama at once. We might want to take him as early as possible, a two way player is really difficult for anyone to pass up..."

-Three Days Later: University Of Alabama Pro Day-

"Damn, Lance has got wheels." Jamal said as he wrote down some notes as he and his scouts watched Alabama's pro day.

"He's got good hands as well." one of Jamal's scouts said as they watched Lance haul in catch after catch, both as a receiver and a corner-back.

"Call Marty, this kid might be the next franchise player..."
