AN: Hope ya'll enjoy this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it.
-A Few Weeks Later, Blitz League Broadcast Booth-
"Well training camp is officially in full swing all around the league as teams prepare for a shot at their respective division titles." Chris began as the tv now showed the logos from every team in the league. "The big questions are as follows: can the Tampa Bay Hurricanes go for a three-peat? How will Shane Spain and the Chicago Marauders fare in their first season in Division 1? Will Lance McCain be the next 'Franchise' in Baltimore for the Bearcats? Last but not least: can the San Diego Cyclones take steps forward in their second season back in the league ?" Chris asked into the camera.
-Meanwhile, Cyclones Meeting Room-
"Marty, as much as I hate to say it, we have a serious Quarterback controversy on our hands–" Clint was silenced by Marty raising a hand.
"It's the fourth day of the first week. How the hell do we have a controversy this early?" Marty asked as he took a sip of water from a water bottle.
"The fans want us to start Chance over Grant." Clint answered bluntly, which earned a look from Marty. "They're really pissed that Grant missed almost the entire season last year, and that we finished with a league worst 1-6 record. Put simply, they think it's time for a quarterback change." Clint informed his boss in a serious tone.
"What do you think we should do, Jamal?" Marty asked his head scout, who was also present in the room.
"I'll be diplomatic.. I like both of them, both have their pros and cons, Chance might be the future of the franchise here in San Diego. But Grant has a lot more experience as a starter–"
"Exactly." Marty interrupted his head scout, who was not at all insulted by the interruption. "Clint, I'd personally like to go with Grant. He has more experience, he has leadership skills, and he's revered in the locker room by his teammates." Marty said in his serious business tone...
-Meanwhile, Blitz League Broadcast Booth-
"Johnny, who's your favorites to be holding their respective division trophies this season?" Chris asked his fellow analyst as the camera now focused on Johnny.
"Thanks Chris. Let's start in Division 3 shall we?" Johnny asked in the camera as all the logos of the Division 3 teams where now shown. "Let's start with the most likely scenario: the Washington Redhawks." Johnny said as the teams logo was displayed. "The Redhawks where very busy in both free agency and trading in the off-season. They re-signed their franchise quarterback, Clayton Wescott after he demanded a release from Los Angeles. They also heavily addressed their needs on defense during the draft. I expect this team to be back in Division 2 by next year." Johnny said with a big smile upon his face. "Chris, who's your pick for Division 2?" Johnny asked.
"Well John, I'd love to see the Miami Hammerheads finally take that final step and go to Division 1. Time and time again this team has finished with a 5-2 or 6-1 record, only to fall in the Division 2 championship game. They fell to Tampa Bay previously, and now to Chicago this previous season. Everyone wants to join Julius Williams down in South Beach, but he's getting up there in age, so the clock is ticking on his return to Division 1." Chris said in a sad, yet optimistic tone. "Miami will have to get past the Atlanta 404 if they want to take that final step." Chris said as the camera now showed the 404 logo. "John who do you like in Division 1?" Chris asked his friend.
"I'll be honest Chris: it's a three way tie. The Hurricanes are the early season favorites right now. Also we cannot forget about the always dangerous New York Nightmare... or the newly appointed Chicago Marauders. As much as I'd love to see the leagues first ever Division 1 three-peat. I'd also love to see Shane Spain win a title before retirement. I cannot chose between Tampa Bay, New York or Chicago at the moment. We'll let the season do the talking." Johnny said in an excited tone.
"Thanks John." Chris said as the camera was now focused solely on him. "On a different note, Marty Rains has done more than just bring football back to San Diego. It turns out he's also inspiring others to chase their football dreams. We just received word late last night that former Louisiana Congressman Adam Ingram has expressed interest in forming a team in the city of New Orleans. Louisiana has tons of high school and college teams, but has never had a pro team. Could the Blitz League have yet another team within a year or two? We'll keep you posted as news comes out of New Orleans..."
To Be Continued...
