FIRE and BLOOD in Remnant
Extracurricular and Shocking News
Pyrrha is gearing up in a locker room. As she walks out of the locker room, it changes to her sparring with Cardin Winchester and back again. Eventually, the fight includes the other members of Team CRDL.
While she is still exiting toward the arena, the scene cuts to her sparing with Team CRDL. Pyrrha makes short work of them and isn't even trying while team CRDL were all fighting sloppy and getting in each other's way. Pyrrha slams Cardin onto the floor ending him as the lights come on. Glynda approaches from behind Cardin who clutches his ribs.
"And that's the match." Glynda said.
"Lucky shot." Cardin grumbles before he collapses.
"Well done, Miss Nikos. You should have no problem qualifying for the tournament." Glynda congratulated.
"Thank you, professor." Pyrrha replied.
Glynda begins tapping her Scroll. "Alright, now I know that's a tough act to follow, but we have time for a few more sparring matches. Any volunteers?" Glynda said as she looks around at the observing students. "Ms. Belladonna?" She called out and Blake slams her book shut and stares wide-eyed at Glynda. "You've been rather docile for the past few classes. Why don't you…" she starts but was interrupted as Mercury raises his hand.
"I'll do it." Mercury volunteers.
"Mercury, is it? Very well, let's find you an opponent." Glynda said as she pushed her glasses into place.
"Actually, I wanna fight... her." Mercury said as he slowly points to Pyrrha.
"Me?" Pyrrha asked confused.
"I'm afraid Miss Nikos has just finished the match. I recommend you choose another partner." Glynda said.
"No, it's fine! I'd be happy to oblige." Pyrrha said sincerely. Draegon narrowed his eyes as he decided to pay closer attention to this match.
Mercury struts into the arena, visibly sizing up Pyrrha. Their spar begins when he makes the first attack with a kick and is knocked down. Recovering quickly, he deflects an attack and begins trading blows with Pyrrha until she knocks him back with her shield.
Ruby Rose turns toward Emerald sitting behind her. "Hey, your friend's doing pretty good." She said and Emerald gives a fake smile and then rolls her eyes as Ruby turns her back.
Mercury unleashes a series of powerful strikes. Pyrrha allows his kick to slam against her forearm before Mercury manages to disarm her, a kick impaling her blade into the ground. Pyrrha uses her Semblance to redirect the direction of Mercury's next kick. As she charges him with her shield, he shoots off of it and turns his back to her. Pyrrha tries to rush him again.
"I forfeit." Mercury said non-chalant.
Pyrrha almost stumbles as she stops beside him. "You... don't even want to try?" Pyrrha asked shocked.
"What's the point? You're a world-renowned fighter. We're obviously leagues apart." Mercury said shrugging his shoulders.
"In that case... Pyrrha Nikos is the victor of the match... again." Glynda said off screen.
Emerald smirks. Mercury sneers smugly. Pyrrha has an annoyed and disappointed look on her face, and places her left hand on her hip. The Aura displays for Pyrrha and Mercury are shown as Mercury's is changed from green to red indicating his loss.
"Dude can't even lose with some dignity, instead he forfeits like coward," Draegon said and Emerald narrowed her eyes at him and Ruby looks at him confused but Draegon doesn't pay attention to them.
"He was holding back," Draegon thought.
"Next time, you may want to think a little harder before choosing an opponent." Glynda warned.
"I'll be sure to do that." Mercury said.
"Now onto the next match Mr. Draegon and Ms. Xiao-Long," Glynda said as Yang pumped her fist ready to battle. Draegon accidently brought Dark Sister with him and had it strapped to his back but he was carrying two sparring swords instead of one because he wanted to work on his dual-wielding. Draegon thought for a second as Yang was making some air punches and he had an idea.
"Ms. Goodwitch would it be okay if we make it a bit more challenging?" Draegon asked as he kept beating people in fights not just his teammates other people challenged him to fights and they all lost.
Glynda thought for a moment and had an idea, "Very well, will add another member. Ms. Schnee you haven't fought today. Would you care to battle as well?" Glynda asked.
"I'd be honored," Weiss said as she pulled her weapon out walked onto the arena as well.
"This will be a three-way fight, are all combatants ready?" Glynda asked. Weiss, Yang, and Draegon nodded. "Then begin," Glynda said as Yang cocked her gauntlets, Weiss pointed her Rapier at the ready, and Draegon held both of his training swords. They all stared at each other and didn't move until Draegon spoke up.
"Yang, Weiss I want you two to work together when we fight, like I said earlier I would like it to be a bit more challenging." Draegon asked.
"Don't get overconfident," Weiss said but Yang smirked because she had an idea as well.
"Hey Draegon, if we win you have to accompany me to the dance, but if you win, I have to accompany you to the dance," Yang said seductively and Draegon was shocked and blushed a little but Weiss looked at Yang.
"Can we focus on the battle please," Weiss said as she used a Glyph and dashed forward but Draegon held his hand out.
"STOP," Draegon said snapping out of confusion and Weiss staggered a bit realizing her mistake as she slowed down.
"You should have remembered that Semblances are useless in a fight against me," Draegon said and Mercury and Emerald looked at each other a bit surprised and paid more attention to the battle. Draegon used both training swords and jumped into the air a brought a downward slash at Weiss. She backflipped away as Draegon crashed into the ground. Draegon quickly sidestepped as Yang fired shot-gun punches. She then jumps forward and tried to punch him but Draegon thrust a sword out and deflected it. Soon Weiss and Yang were attacking him from both sides and Draegon was deflecting all of their strikes with his swords. Weiss jumped back and fired some ice dust but Draegon jacket glowed and thrust his fist forward and fire blasted it overpowering the ice. Weiss staggered backwards from Draegon heat. Draegon then jumped to Yang and started slashing with both swords forcing Yang on the defensive she used her gauntlets to block but was still having trouble. Draegon shoes glowed with fire dust and he flame kicked Yang breaking her focus for thinking he only used swords attacks and not marshal arts attacks. As Yang was pushed back Draegon made a swing at her face. Yang bent a little as the sword came over her but some of her hair wasn't so lucky and even though it was a training sword it was still sharp enough to cut her hair. Yang saw it fall and her eyes widen in shock but before she could respond Draegon other Sword hits her in the legs knocking her over. Draegon doesn't pay attention as Weiss come back and unleashes a barrage of single strikes but Draegon deflects them all supper quickly. Draegon then spun like a top with sword strikes at Weiss who struggled to deflect them and soon got hit multiple times and her Aura dropped to red after the fifth strike. Pyrrha who was watching felt something familiar with that last attack and narrowed her eyes.
"Ms. Schnee is out," Glynda said and Draegon turned back to Yang, only to see her slowly get up while her eyes are closed and her hair looked like it was on fire.
"You, You, YOU MONSTER," Yang shouted as she opened her eyes and were blood red. Draegon looked worried but narrowed his eyes in focus. He soon dropped both swords and dragged his right foot in a half circle and got into a stance. Pyrrha stood up in shock realizing what he was about to do. The others looked at him confused and then looked at Pyrrha if she knew something. Yang fired two shots from behind as she blasted at Draegon and reared her right arm back for a powerful punch. Draegon breathed slowly as Yang was coming closer and then Draegon stuck his right hand out and commanded.
"STOP," Draegon said as Yang's fist was inches away and deactivate her semblance. While still in mid-air Draegon grabbed Yang's arms and Judo flipped her and slammed her to the ground destroying the rest of her Aura.
"Mr. Draegon is victor of this match," Glynda said as Weiss and Yang slowly got up. Yang looked impressed at that move but was still upset since he cut her hair. However, Yang was going to get the last laugh.
"Well, you won, so that means you have to accompany me to the dance," Yang said slyly.
"Wait what? I thought you have to accompany me to the dance if I win and I have to accompany you to the dance if you win, that was the deal," Draegon said confused.
"No, it was the other way around," Yang said ignorantly and smiled. Draegon raised his hands in the air and sighed in defeat knowing he lost even though he won. The bet was a win-win or a lose-lose and Draegon felt like he got the later one.
"Also, since I'm a nice person I'll forgive you for cutting my hair but if you do that again I'll neuter you," Yang threatened and pointed at Draegon who just sighed with stress. While Yang and Weiss walked back up to the seats Draegon went to get his sparring swords and he saw that they were beat up a bit and on the verge of breaking. As Draegon continued to look at his blades Glynda stepped onto the stage.
"Alright we have time for one more match so how about…" she started as she looked through her Scroll when Pyrrha called out.
"Ms. Goodwitch I wish to fight again," Pyrrha practically shouted and everyone looked at her in shock.
"Ms. Nikos you've already fought twice today I feel it's unfair to the other students if you kept getting chances to fight." Glynda said with a raised eyebrow.
"I know it's selfish but I wish to fight Draegon to confirm for myself on something that I saw in his match." Pyrrha said and Draegon raised an eyebrow.
Soon students were cheering at the idea wanting to see Draegon and Pyrrha duke it out. Draegon decided to oblige.
"I don't have a problem with it," Draegon said since his aura recovered faster and he didn't lose much in his fight against Weiss and Yang, so Glynda sighed in frustration and agreed.
"I will only allow this once Ms. Nikos," she said as Pyrrha nodded and walked back onto the arena. Draegon swung his training swords since they still could be used before, he looked at Pyrrha and narrowed his eyes.
"You may begin," Glynda said and Draegon dashed forward and Pyrrha had to be careful because if she uses her semblance Draegon would negate it. Draegon let loose a fury of slashes and Pyrrha raised her shield to block them but Draegon strong slashes pushed her back. Pyrrha changes her sword into gun mode and fired dust rounds and Draegon jumped back and deflected some of the bullets. Pyrrha changed her weapon into spear mode and threw it but Draegon side stepped and saw Pyrrha jump at him with her shield. Draegon jacket glowed fired his flamethrower arm at Pyrrha hoping to push her back but her shield protected her. Pyrrha knocked Draegon back a bit and grabbed her spear before changing back into sword mode. Draegon got back up as Pyrrha raised her eyebrow and was looking at him confused.
"What?" Draegon asked as Pyrrha stared at him.
"Draegon, does the name Jack Jewel mean something to you?" Pyrrha asked and Draegon widen his eyes in shock but then narrowed them. Ruby, Weiss, and Yang looked at each other while Blake heard but she was more focused on her book.
"Where did you hear that name?" Draegon spoke venomously.
"Jack Jewel was a great swordsman everyone said he was an honorable warrior in fact he has the record for three wins in a row at the Mistral tournament before I broke it. I always wanted to fight him and when you defeated both Weiss and Yang earlier with those moves, I recognized them because Jack used them to win his tournaments. Did you learn from him was he your teacher?" Pyrrha asked because she was slightly excited to fight the student of one of the greatest swordsmen ever. Draegon didn't say anything but he looked at his sparring swords and saw cracks on them and about to break he closes his eyes and drops them to the ground then he just rolled his sleeves up and showed gauntlets on his arms. He unhooked them and as they fell to the ground and caused cracks on the floor showing everyone how heavy they were and that he had been fighting with them on this whole time. Since his sparring swords couldn't be used anymore, he took out Dark Sister from his back and went into a new stance. Draegon opened his eyes and his eyes became slits like a Dragon. Pyrrha felt like she said something wrong and she took a step back fear.
"That's a lie, everything you know about Jack Jewel is a lie. I've hated him ever since," Draegon said dangerously. Everyone looked at each other some of them hearing about Jack and others wondering was he a student of him and team RWBY was concerned at how angry Draegon became when Pyrrha mentioned Jack. Glynda was about to step in and cancel the battle since Draegon pulled out his Valyrian steel sword but she heard a cough and looked up the see Ozpin further up in the stands and he shook his head. So Glynda remained in her spot. Draegon dashed forward at blinding speed and brought down Dark Sister in a fury of slashes and stabs. Pyrrha pulled up her shield to block but was sliding across the ground. He made a downward slash with his right arm holding Dark Sister and Pyrrha knew she couldn't hold the block so she stuck her hand out and activated her semblance to slightly move Dark Sister but Draegon stuck his other hand out.
"Stop," Draegon said and Pyrrha's semblance was stopped so she quickly transformed her sword into gun and fired a shot a bullet and the recoil pushed her away like it did with Ruby. Draegon threw fireballs from his dust coat but Pyrrha jumped out of the way. She saw that both of their Auras were low from all the fighting so she charged and put everything into this last attack. Draegon obliged her and charged as well but as he charged, he felt a presence next to him. Draegon looked with his Dragon like slits and saw the spirit of Visenya Targaryen charging with him and looking at Dark Sister. She then placed her ghost hand on the hilt then as if they were both holding it made contact with Pyrrha and with a swing with the sword followed by a thrust that damaged Pyrrha's armor and her Aura dropped to red for Pyrrha wasn't fast enough and couldn't use her semblance. Draegon defeated her as if it was nothing. Glynda walked onto the stage and announced as the match was over.
"And that is the match with Mr. Draegon as the victor. Although I don't approve of you using your personal weapons in these matches." She said and Draegon opened his eyes to see that they went back to normal and he nodded.
"The training swords were about to break, I had no choice," Draegon said and Glynda sighed in frustration and looked to see Ozpin leave without saying anything. Draegon saw Pyrrha getting up and looked at Draegon in surprise because she actually lost a match.
"Never mention Jack Jewel again," Draegon said with narrow eyes and Pyrrha nodded. She became worried that she damaged her friendship with Draegon. Draegon looked to see Visenya looking at him still with an unchanged mild expression. She then nodded at Draegon and disappeared. Draegon sheathed Dark Sister and put the weighs back on as he walked up the stairs to team RWBY. They were all looking at him shocked and expecting answers.
"I need time to cool down okay, now's not the time, I don't want to talk more about my past right now." Draegon said and RWBY nodded deciding it would be better for Draegon to tell them when he's ready.
An alarm sounds which jolts Blake who has nodded off.
"That is all for today. And remember, the dance is this weekend. But you all have your first mission on Monday. I will not accept any excuses." Glynda said.
As everyone leaves, Mercury stops beside Emerald.
"Learning is so much fun." Mercury said and Draegon watched them leave liking them less and less for some reason.
Outside, SSSN are standing at the entrance as Team RWBY walks past. Sun notices Blake and runs after her.
"Hey, Blake!" Sun said and grabs Blake by her shoulder. "You uh, doing, okay?" he asked worried.
"I'm fine." Blake said as she shuts the book she is reading.
"So, I hear there's this dance going on this weekend... ah, sounds pretty lame, but you and me, I'm thinking, not as lame, huh?" Sun asked.
"What?" Blake asked confused.
"The dance! This weekend! You wanna go, or what?" Sun asked hopefully
"I don't have time for a stupid dance. I thought you of all people would get that." Blake asked angrily and walks away past her team. Sun sinks from his rejection.
"You what?" Blake said angry at the rest of her teammates in their dorm room. Blake is sitting with her arms crossed as is everyone else on the beds and Draegon is leaning on the wall by the window with Balerion on his shoulder. Feeling a little better since he was with the babies now.
"We want you to go to the dance." Ruby said sincerely.
"That's ridiculous." Blake denied.
"Blake, we're worried about you. This investigation is starting to mess with your head." Yang spoke up.
"You can't sleep, you hardly eat, and to be honest, your grades have been suffering." Weiss said as she counted her fingers.
"You look like your about to collapse and never wake up again," Draegon said as Balerion rubbed its head on his cheek.
"You think I care about grades?" Blake said as she shrugs and then gestures out the window. "People's lives are at stake!" She continued.
Yang puts her hand on Blake's, lowering it. "We know, and we're all still trying to figure out what Torchwick is up to."
"Thanks to you and Sun, we know they're operating somewhere outside of southeast Vale." Ruby said.
"And, the Schnee company records singled out Vale as the primary target for Dust robberies over the last few months." Weiss said.
"Don't forget about their missing military tech too." Yang deadpanned
"All we know for sure is that they're after something or someone in Vale," Draegon said but didn't tell his friends everything about what Lester told him, that Beacon might be their target because it was still a hunch and he needed to investigate on his own because he felt that this might go deeper than Torchwick and the White Fang.
"But there's still unanswered questions!" Blake pointed out.
"Blake, you won't be able to find anything if you can't even keep your eyes open!" Ruby said.
"All we're asking is that you take it easy for one day." Yang added on.
"It will be fun! Yang and I will make sure of it." Weiss smiled.
"Yeah! We're planning the whole event!" Yang cheered as she pumps her fists which causes the bed to bounce Blake.
"Excuse me?" Blake asked confused.
"Team CFVY's away mission lasted longer than expected." Weiss answered.
"So, Weiss and I were asked to pick up where they left off. And now we can make sure you have the perfect night." Yang said.
"And once it's all over, we'll return for our search, rested and ready." Weiss continued.
"So, what do ya think?" Ruby asked.
"I think this is a colossal waste of time." Blake answers before she walks away from the group and opens the dorm door. "I'll be in the library." She quickly says and walks out of the room.
"Great." Yang said while Draegon shook his head.
"She can't keep going on like this." Weiss said.
"Tell that to her, but she still won't listen," Draegon said and the other nodded. There's a knock at the door and Weiss approaches and opens it. Jaune appears at the door with a guitar.
"Weiss!" Jaune begins singing but Weiss slams the door in his face. She rubs her stressed out eyes.
"Oh, come on, open the door! I promise not to sing." Jaune said from behind the door.
Weiss opens the door. "I lied! Weiss Schu-nee, will you accompany me, to the dance on... Sunday!?" Jaune singed.
"Are you done?" Weiss asked as Ruby, Yang, Draegon, and Balerion looked from behind and Meraxes and Vhagar looked from the hammock
"Yes?" Jaune smiled and shrugged his shoulders.
"No." Weiss said as she shuts the door in his face. Turning around, she sees the others staring at her. "What?" She asks.
Both girls are standing precariously. While Draegon still leaned against the wall.
"And that is why they call you the Ice Queen." Yang smirked while Ruby finally collapses.
"All my life, boys have only cared about the perks of my last name." Weiss said and Draegon coughed getting her attention as he raised an eyebrow.
"I haven't," he said.
"Besides you, and I already have a date in mind." Weiss said triumphantly to Draegon.
"Date or no date, none of this will matter if we can't get Blake to go." Ruby said sadly.
Later that night, Pyrrha and Jaune are sparring at their spot on the roof. Jaune appears to gain the upper hand until Pyrrha sweeps his legs out from under him.
"Well done! Your swordplay's improved immensely." Pyrrha said laughing as she helps Jaune to his feet.
"I couldn't have done it without you." Jaune said.
"So, are you ready to move on to Aura?" Pyrrha asked.
"I'm actually thinking maybe we just skip Aura for tonight? Might go on a jog or something." Jaune said nervously.
"Come on, I know you get frustrated, but you must keep trying. I'm sure you'll discover your Semblance any day now." Pyrrha urged.
"That's not it. It's just...It's dumb." Jaune said hesitating.
"What is it?" Pyrrha asked as she approaches Jaune and places her hand on his shoulder. "Jaune, you know you can tell me." She continued.
"It's... Weiss." Jaune said.
"Oh. What about her?" Pyrrha asked while her face falls slightly.
"I asked her to the dance and she shot me down. Big surprise, right?" Jaune said while giggling halfheartedly.
"Well, I believe the saying goes, There's... plenty of fish in the sea." Pyrrha said slowly.
"That's easy for you to say. You've probably got guys clamoring over each other just to ask you out. Well except Draegon he seemed upset when you mentioned that Jack Jewel guy." Jaune said in a dump way.
"You'd be surprised. I hope he isn't to mad at me." Pyrrha chuckles half-heartedly and Jaune dismisses the thought.
"Oh please. If you don't get a date to the dance, I'll wear a dress. Heh." Jaune said as he walks away. Pyrrha drops her smile and looks rather upset.
"Man, that guy is a Moron sometimes," Draegon said and Pyrrha turns around to see him standing by the edge.
"What are you doing here?" Pyrrha asked.
"I came here to let you know that I'm not upset with you but the man you know Jack Jewel as is a lie," Draegon said and Pyrrha looked confused.
"He was my teacher but he did something so terrible and I killed him for it," Draegon explained while Pyrrha looked shocked.
"What did he do?" She asked. Draegon looked away.
"He destroyed my home," Draegon answered. Pyrrha looked shocked.
"I'm sorry I didn't know, but why?" Pyrrha asked quickly.
"It's fine I needed to remind myself that If I look back I am Lost, as for why I don't want to talk about it and I think you need someone to talk to you about Jaune," Draegon said as Pyrrha nodded and looked at the door where Jaune left.
"You should just confess your feelings because like I said, he's a Moron sometimes," he continued and Pyrrha nodded.
"And finally, Pyrrha Nikos." Emerald said in her team's room. Cinder is sewing a black dress as she sits on one of the beds. Emerald is sitting on the floor while looking at her Scroll, and Mercury is lying on the ground and reading a comic book.
"Ah, the invincible girl." Cinder said slowly.
"She's smart, but I wouldn't say invincible." Mercury said.
"Do tell." Cinder said.
"Her Semblance is Polarity. But you'd never know just by watching." Emerald said.
"After she made contact with my boots, she was able to move them around however she wanted. But she only made slight adjustments." Mercury said.
"Just enough to make it look like she's untouchable. She doesn't broadcast her power, so it puts her opponent at a disadvantage." Emerald added on.
"Hmm... People assume that she's fated for victory, when she's really taking fate into her own hands. Interesting. Add her to the list." Cinder said.
"You should be able to take her no problem." Mercury said.
"It's not about overpowering the enemy. It's about taking away what power they have. And we will, in time." Cinder said.
"I hate waiting." Mercury said in a board way.
"Don't worry, Mercury. We have a fun weekend ahead of us." Cinder said as she looked at the needle.
"What about that Draegon Targaryen guy, he was wearing weights when he fought and only took them off when he fought Pyrrha. Plus, his semblance allows him to negate other people's semblances. That could be a problem along with his Dragons," Emerald said and Cinder narrowed her eyes.
"He seems to be on guard around us, we'll have to take care of him when he's separated from his beast and kill him." Cinder said darkly.
Wow that was hard. I hope I described the fights well. I did the best I could. I hope you enjoyed it. All of the Targaryens are going to help Draegon as he continues to grow even when his past comes back to haunt him. Please comment I hope you enjoyed today's chapter.
